Ok, now they’ve gone and done it.  Pontiac, one of the storied makes in automotive history, is going to the scrap heap.  This one quote from FOX News.

Efforts in the last few years to market Pontiac as performance-oriented brand failed. The company had said it wanted to keep Pontiac as a niche brand with one or two models, but is buckling under tremendous government pressure to consolidate its eight brands, several of which lose money.

They could have kept it, and waited for the sports oriented market to come back, but the minions of the messiah said “nyet comrade?”  Why not ditch Saturn, Saab, and Hummer, who have been losers for some time now.? Not to mention the fact that Pontiac outsold them!

Oh well, nothing this conservative car nut can do about it, except do a tribute to the great Pontiacs of the now, and the past.

So long Pontiac!  You’ll not be forgotten!

Cause of death:  Multiple, but finished off by government intervention.

Matt

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Man, if it were 1978 and I were a cowboy and I had a friend with a truck and a babe’s marriage to break up (NOT ugly Sally Fields’, btw) and needed to get some bad beer east of the Mississippi…I would have been driving that T/A, too.

The T/A was the logical choice for such jobs. That “screamin chicken” was the last word!
