Conservative Hideout 2.0

Every once in a while, something comes up that simple blows my mind.  This is one of those times.  For background, this from the Village Voice:

The Empire State Building’s publicists inform us — like they’re proud of it! — that tomorrow ESB will glow red and yellow to honor the 60th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. At 10 a.m. members of the Consul General of the People’s Republic, including Consul General Peng Keyu, will “flip the light switch on a scale model of the Empire State Building,” and either America will blow up or the lights will go on.

Whaaaaaaat???  We’re going to have the ChiComs do a light display honoring the 60 years of oppression, murder, and starvation caused by their regime?

Let’s take  a look at what we’re celebrating:

R.J. Rummel originally estimated China’s body count between between the years of 1949-1987 to be 35,236,000 (Rummel 1994). This excluded 38,000,000 million that died of famine during the Great Leap Forward. After the release of Mao: The Unknown Story, Rummel became convinced that the Chinese government was directly responsible for the famine, thus increasing his original estimate by 38,000,000 (Rummel 2005). 1,000 was added for Tienanmen Square in 1989 (Courtois 1999).

So, in total, the ChiComs have killed 73,237,000 of their own people.  That’s a reason to celebrate, is it not?

So, this is Amerika.  We celebrate the single most murderous regime in history.  We encourage them to buy our debt, we turn a blind eye to the death, and pretend that everything is all nice and normal.   We need to stop turning a blind eye to this (and we have been for years), and call it like it is.

About Matt

I believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Things like this make me hang my head in shame at how far we have come from the founding of our country.

  • Dr. Dave September 30, 2009 at 11:00 am

At this point, Matt, I think China actually OWNS the building.

  • Jackie Durkee September 30, 2009 at 11:03 am

Hey, don’t you know we’ll be owned by China one day? I guess they are just brown nosing ahead of time, so things will go well for them when it happens. Just kidding, or maybe not. See my article on Debt versus Deficits at my blog. China owns billions of the United State debt.

  • Forgotten Liberty September 30, 2009 at 5:19 pm

I agree with Dr. Dave and Jackie, it’s all about money.

  • Angel September 30, 2009 at 5:44 pm

wer’e living in perilous times my friend!:)

  • Karen Howes September 30, 2009 at 5:55 pm

I feel like I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole, Matt. Unreal!

  • theLibertyPen September 30, 2009 at 6:29 pm

As of the end of July China owned $800.5 billion in U.S. Treasury certs., and this puts them in a powerful position to exert leverage on many facets of our nation.

I will tell you right now, I will not eat dog. I love my German Shepherd.

Hitler killed an estimated 6,000,000, Joseph Stalin an estimated 30,000,000 and the Chinese Commusist an estimated 100,000,000. We condemn Hitler at every turn, we condemn Stalin and now, we honor the country who holds the record on political murders—could it be the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! Yes it could! Yes it could!

@ Don, I think the same thing myself. Luckily, there are enough patriotic Americans to turn it around.

@ Dr. Dave, quite possible. And welcome back, my friend.

@ Jackie, I had seen that. Quite good.

    @ Forgotten Liberty, Money? $$$$$ What$$$$ Money?$$$$$$

@ Angel, that we are, that we are.

@ Karen, tell me about it. This blew my mind!

@ Liberty Pen, That’s a big chunck. Of course, now they’re monetizing it. Oh Joy!

@ Ron, so tell me…what do you really think? :D

  • Track-A-'Crat September 30, 2009 at 8:40 pm

    Completely agree, Matt.

Mao is still venerated throughout China, partly by choice and partly (mostly, I hope) through obligation, but he was even more evil and deadly than Stalin.

No doubt that the Left reassures itself that the nearly countless deaths were in the pursuit of their favorite buzzword, “progress.”

  • Don September 30, 2009 at 9:18 pm

And we have our own Mao here. Mao-bama.

  • Dr. Dave September 30, 2009 at 9:32 pm

Sure…draw attention to my absence. Just know that you are part of my overall delusional psychosis, that being the existence of actual hope and change is coming.

Track, you are correct, deaths are acceptable, so as long as the power base remains.

    Don, Mao-bama demand obedience!

Dr. Dave, either I’m doing you a service, or I am a curse. Put on a tin foil hat. If I no longer exist, then I am delusion, If I still exist, then we’ll win in the end. BTW, you have to post a pic of yourself wearing the tin foil hat!

Almost forgot…If I have to wear a Mao suit, I’m done!

  • Josh Price October 2, 2009 at 2:44 pm

    That was absolutely sickening.

It shouldn’t surprise me, but it does. I’m really at a loss for words. And to think that most of us who point these types of things out are branded as negative and pessimistic. We’re supposed to accept this time of action as a byproduct of globalism (which it is, but I’m not going to stand for it).

To all of the people who support unbridled free trade and globalism, this is what you get. This isn’t it about the left or right. Yes, the building’s owners might be liberal (and supporters of communism), but it’s globalism and a lack of moral conviction that allows this to occur.

The problem with globalists, and indeed some capitalists (and I’m certainly a capitalist), is that they forget that the Father of capitalism, Adam Smith, was a believer in a strong moral component to the system. We don’t have that. We have businessmen and women who would sell their mother’s souls in order to shave .02% of their operating costs much less sell out their country. That’s why the Empire State Building was lit up with red and yellow.

We’re in trouble, folks, and it isn’t just a result of liberalism. Liberalism is the main culprit but not the only one.

Josh, you have some very good ideas. I’d like to read some more of that line of thinking!
