As we have been discussing as of late, the AGW folks are having a bad time of it.  December brought records for cold, record early cold, record early snows, record snow amounts.  The same has been occurring in Europe as well.  Hundreds have died.  A large number of blizzards have occurred in the US, and at the time of this writing, even more are forecast.

Now, I know, weather is weather, and climate is climate, but how long does it take to say, “Gee, two continents are having record bad winter weather, the Arctic sea ice grew last year, and reputable scientists are now saying the Earth is entering a cooling phase?”

Then, throw ClimateGate into the mix, and it gets even more interesting.  Considering that those scientists were using questionable statistical techniques, deleting emails, deleting their original raw data, lamenting the lack of warming, silencing critics, manipulating professional journals, and re-writing history, one starts to wonder if their claims are real.

Now, just to contribute to the growing sense of irony over the entire controversy, some folks planned protests over the fail in Copenhagen, (did I mention that it was unseasonably cold for that as well?), but nature intervened.

The Salt Lake Tribune

A downtown protest of the climate change talks in Copenhagen became a victim of Wednesday’s snowstorm.

“Not many people showed up because of the blizzard conditions,” said organizer Clea Major, an international studies student at the University of Utah.

It didn’t take long for the six friends to pack up a bullhorn and posters they’d planned to use for their “scream-in,” an outlet for their frustration about the failure of the Copenhagen climate talks earlier this month to curb the pollution blamed for climate change.

Still, they chatted with a few passers-by during the commuter-hour protest near the Gateway, and explained that, blizzard aside, climate change is expected to bring chaos to the global climate, said Major.

She called Wednesday evening’s effort a success and possibly the first in a series. As for the snow, it’s not entirely new; a protest she attended last year in Washington, D.C., suffered a similar fate.

“There is always the irony element,” Major said.

Irony it is Ms. Major.  And while you mention it, you clearly don’t get it.  The joke is on you.

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Our climate is fragile. At the rate we’re polluting the environment and burning fossil fuels the ice caps are disappearing, melting into the Atlantic. Maybe we hit a critical desalinization point and the Polar ice cap melting is disrupting the North Atlantic current.

Oh wait . . . that is “The Day After Tomorrow”!

Now back to the world of reality. Weather changes… sometimes warmer …sometimes colder.

Do you think God sometimes sits up in Heaven and laughs at the stupdity of humans? Maybe He cries intstead.

I’m in the camp that hopes (really, really hopes!) that God has one big sense of humor. Too much irony out there for him to not.

The Oklahoma/Arkansas area is having a fairly good cold spell also. We had one of the coolest and wettest summers that I can remember in 47 years. Global warming alarmists just can’t seem to get it right.

I have to agree with Jackie. God has to be sitting up in Heaven shaking his head at the stupidity of some of his creation.

Once you strip away the false science and political agenda, we can actually look at the fact that the climate changes all the time, whether humans exist or not.

I will only parapharse an old saying, “everybody talks about the weather, but no one can do anything about it”!

Ron, that was a short statement, but it summed it up well.

All I know is I’ve already burned more firewood than I did at this point last year. And the ground is frozen. That doesn’t happen in Georgia until February most years.

We have an outside temp of 13 degrees right now. Wind chills are below zero. It’s only going to get colder, and it’s set to stay that way for weeks! Thank goodness for AGW…right??

I’m in he process of putting together tomorrow’s post. Europe is getting the deep freeze too.

It’s freezing to death out here in Chicago, I mean AWFUL! 5 at least.
This global warming stuff is very bad! I can’t even leave to house to shop, it’s so cold.
    Stay Warm everyone.

Wow Bunni, I thought I had it bad. Stay warm! Just don’t wait for the AGW to do it for you! :D
