Here is another re-post from A Conservative Teacher.   Kindly give his site a visit.

The National Education Association, or NEA, is the largest teacher’s union in the country and one of the top lobbying groups in the nation. Almost every single state teacher’s association, including the Michigan Education Association, or MEA, belongs to the NEA. These state associations are among the most powerful lobbying groups in their respective states. And the NEA recommends that every teacher read Saul Alinksy’s Rules for Radicals.

On the NEA website, under “Tools and Ideas”, along with lesson plans and articles on classroom management, there is a resource called “Association Representative Resources.” Follow that link and then click on “Articles & Multimedia.” You will see that out of all of the books in the entire world of books, the NEA recommends reading only three, one of which is Saul Alinsky’s book Rules for Radicals.

Here is the review of this book from the largest teacher’s union in the country:

Saul Alinsky, who was a labor and civil-rights activist from the 1910′s until he died in 1972, has written here a guidebook for those who are out to change things. Alinsky was hated and defamed by powerful enemies, proof that his tactics worked. His simple formula for success…
“Agitate + Aggravate + Educate + Organize”

This is the official review of this book written by the NEA. The NEA didn’t choose many books to recommend that teachers read- they only choose three. And in its review of Alinsky, the NEA reviewer embraced Alinsky’s radical ideas.

The NEA recommends that teachers- that your child’s teacher- agitates against the rule of law in this nation, aggravates anyone who opposes the teachers and the NEA’s views on issues, educates children on what to believe, and organize in such as way as to defeat any enemies of the NEA. The NEA recommends that your teacher become a radical.

I wish I was making this stuff up, and I wish that my dues were not going to fund an organization that encourages teachers to become radicals. But it is true- read it yourself.

The NEA recommends that teachers read Alinsky’s book, follow his advice, and become radical proponents of a leftist agenda. Your children go in to classrooms every day, and your only hope is that teachers ignore the advice and pressure exerted on them by their own union leaders. Your best hope is that the teacher who teaches your children just pays dues to the NEA every year and supports it, but doesn’t really listen to what it wants them to do in the classroom. Your best hope is that the NEA member who teaches your child doesn’t ‘really’ belong to the NEA. You better hope that the teacher who is teaching your child today is not reading the books the NEA recommends for them to read.

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

I wonder what would happen if the NEA recommended that teachers read the Constitution or the Federalist Papers? What’s next? The Communist Manifesto as required reading for 3nd graders? It would go great with “Rules for Radicals”. They could be paired together on a summer reading list.

You see, they won’t make them rad from the manifesto directly. They’d take parts of it and integrate it all through the curriculum. I remember reading an excerpt from a textbook that referred to the Soviet people as industrious and not wasteful because they used old socks in pillow cases to make pillows. I wanted to scream, “It’s because their anemic economy couldn’t make enough pillows for everyone! Of course, the elites probably had all they wanted.

Wow! It is amazing what we find when we go to the enemy camp (socialist) and look around. Do some checking around at http://www.cfr.org (council on foreign relations), especially in their global governance section under issues. Also, do some checking around at http://www.un.org.

It is amazing how bold and open they are and many Americans still sleep.

    “It’s The People’s Seat.”

They’ve been slowing creeping towards this for decades Karen. They’re getting closer all the time.

  • Ron Russell January 12, 2010 at 5:17 pm

What! You cannot refuse to join the NEA? Wasn’t that way when I taught. I never joined that band of radicals. It not surprised they would recommend such a book. The membership in the NEA, may not lean as far left as the leadership, but its there that the decisions are made and the members are stuck with whatever comes from those.

There can be no dissent my friend. As Mussolini stated, “Everything of the state, and nothing outside of the state.”

  • John Carey January 12, 2010 at 7:03 pm

What needs to happen is conservatives need to turn their own rule book against them. Restore the Republic!

      Indeed John, Indeed!

  • Snarky Basterd January 12, 2010 at 9:16 pm

I recommend reading it too! 1) To learn to think like the enemy, and therefore outthink their boring asses. 2) To use some of the good things that Alinksy espouses (like the ridicule we use over at ADHD). My point is, it’s not “stooping to their level” when we use Alinsky against them … it’s using their own teachings against them.

    Dat’s irony supreme, bro.

      Matt January 13, 2010 at 2:24 am

I agree Snarky. I think this will be the year of rule #8. Of course, your expert use of rule #5 never goes out of style.

I think the difference is that we don’t have to lie to accomplish our “attacks.” Some of the most successful stuff we have is in quoting people on the left. It doesn’t matter if the MSM covers for them, people are still finding out.

      Irony is teh bomb, bro!

  • theLibertyPen January 12, 2010 at 11:04 pm

Would I be out of line if I said Snarky has a devious mind? He has given me a great idea.

    • Matt
      Matt January 13, 2010 at 2:26 am

Hell, he inspired me to start blogging. His mind is both devious, and brilliant.

  • Teresa January 13, 2010 at 12:54 am

Wow! This is highly disturbing. The NEA is encouraging teachers to break the law and become radicals. What could be next> Teachers forced to volunteer for Obama’s civilian army? This is just ludicrous. But, the teacher unions are overrun with liberals. Public schools are so anti-morality that I would never send my kid there.

      Matt January 13, 2010 at 2:27 am

Well, Teresa, someone has to keep indoctrinating the kids in his programs.
