Here’s the story:  Weekly Standard

Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley attended a fundraiser at the Capitol Hill restaurant Sonoma tonight. After the event concluded, Coakley took two questions from the media but declined to say whether or not she stands by her statement at last night’s debate that there aren’t any terrorists in Afghanistan (and that they’ve all gone to Pakistan or Yemen).

After taking a question from a CNN reporter on the street outside the restaurant, I asked her:

TWS: Attorney General Coakley, you said last night that there are no terrorists in Afghanistan–that they’re all in Yemen and Pakistan. Do you stand by that remark?

COAKLEY: I’m sorry, did someone else have a question?

GRIFF JENKINS, Fox News: I did. Why are you in Washington tonight?

COAKLEY: We planned an event after the primary that would be a unity event in Washington. We’re also in the middle of a very intense campaign [...]

After Coakley finished her answer, she began walking away from the restaurant, and I walked behind her asking why health care industry lobbyists were supporting her at the fundraiser. She didn’t reply.

As I walked down the street, a man who appeared to be associated with the Coakley campaign pushed me into a freestanding metal railing. I ended up on the sidewalk. I was fine. He helped me up from the ground, but kept pushing up against me, blocking my path toward Coakley down the street.

Here’s the video…

Welcome to Obama’s Amerika!

UPDATE: Well, as we might predict, the MSM is carrying water for the Coakley campaign.  The event has been blamed on “GOP Stalkers.”  Also, the thug, identified as Michael Meehan, has issued an apology for shoving the reporter.  After the entire event was initially denied by the Coakley campaign.  I guess video is worth 10,000 words.

As an interesting note, Meehan was nominated by the POTUS for a spot on the Broadcasting Board of Governors. I guess from this, we can see what he thinks about a free press.

Coakley states that she didn’t see the event at all.

Of course she didn’t.  I guess this event happened in the same parallel universe in which there are no terrorists in Afghanistan.

Matt

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Matt, very disturbing. These elitists are no friends of the Constitution or freedom of the press. They would have been called Tories if we lived in the year 1776. Today we call them progressives or liberals. These people believe they are better than us and that they know what is best for us. And if they have to use persuasion of power (thuggery)to make sure we get that, then so be it. They are enemies of the Republic.

      Well said John.

  • Don January 13, 2010 at 1:20 pm

Maybe one of those terrorists that used to be in Afghanistan are now working for Coakley?

I’m thinking more of a parallel universe, like the one where Spock has a goatee.

I’ll constrain my anger ’til after the special election. If Brown wins, I’ll redirect that anger into extra happyhappyjoyjoy.

Hopefully, Brown is able to pull it off. Coakley has been a gaffe machine as of late.

There is little doubt in my mind that those on the left in this country are more prone to violence than those on the right—but not according to the MSM. This reporter should press charges, they things must not go unchallenged.

I agree. There would be resistance, but it would go along with Alinsky rule # 8.

  • LD Jackson January 13, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Again, let me say it. I wonder what kind of outrage we would be hearing if that had been someone who worked for a conservative or Republican candidate? Clearly a double standard because it seems to be okay for the Democrats to push their weight around.

Ok for the left, especially if it’s SEIU goons.

  • Bunni January 13, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Matt: They are running scared and desperate. What else would you expect
from an obama appointee thug, wearing a purple sweater too!

I’m afraid this will go on a whole lot more often.
It’s always the LIBERALS attacking people, and the gall of doing it to a
REPORTER, instead of their average victims of handicapped people, senior citizens,
    women, etc. is VERY disturbing.

      Matt January 14, 2010 at 12:25 am

      You nailed it Bunni.

  • steve January 13, 2010 at 9:50 pm

Why am I not surprised by this. Liberals and Democrats are all about getting and retaining power.

Stimulus bill= more power for Dems
cap and tax= more power for Dems
health care bill= more power for Dems

The health care bill is the Liberal Democrat holey grail. They will do anything to get this bill passed and this latest incident reinforces the point.

I agree. It’s always about power, via getting more and more people on the government drug.

I’m just waiting for the “official” brown shirts to come out. Maybe they will be at the polls in November.

    • Matt
      Matt January 14, 2010 at 12:27 am

Well, they did try the black panthers at the last election. Maybe the “purple shirts” are the new brown shirts?

  • Karen Howes January 14, 2010 at 1:04 am

I’m afraid that this kind of thing will only become more common, Matt.

      I do too, sadly.
