Imagine if you will…A woman braves medical risk to have a child.  The child grows up to be an Evangelical Christian, and an All-American quarterback that leads his team to two BSC Championships.  It’s kind of a heartwarming story…right?

Well, not so, according to “several women’s groups.”  You see, Focus on the Family plans on running a Super Bowl commercial featuring Tim Tebow’s story.  But, the “several women’s groups,” in true “progressive” fashion, has taken it upon themselves to urge CBS not to run the ad.  Of course, I’m forgetting that these groups are far smarter than myself, and they know more than anyone else that America doesn’t need to see that advertisement!

Here’s coverage of the situation from Newsbusters.

“An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year – an event designed to bring Americans together,” said Jehmu Greene, president of the New York-based Women’s Media Center.

Yeah, “brings Americans together,” unless they disgree with you, right?

… “By offering one of the most coveted advertising spots of the year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will damage its reputation, alienate viewers, and discourage consumers from supporting its shows and advertisers,” the letter said.

OK, this paragraph is directly out of the “progressive” playbook.   Insult your opponent with inflammatory terms so people will ignore the message, and pay attention to the smear.  Then, threaten the boycott to insure that the message never get’s out.  Well played, except we know the playbook, and more and more people are seeing through it.

Sadly, I think that CBS will cave and not run the ad.

The “progressives” aren’t interested in hearing other points of view.  They don’t want you to hear them either.  To gain and maintain control, all other points of view must be marginalized, censored, and punished.

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Matt, these leftgressives are fascists. If they could, they’d burn us at the stake.

Luckily, this is still America, and any attempt to do so would end rather badly for the fascists. Thanks for the comment!

Prior to this controversy, I wasn’t a Tebow fan. I’m kinda sick of SEC dominance so I haven’t paid that much attention to his personal life. Now that I know some more about him I hope he has a very long, very successful NFL career. Let him have lots of interviews and press conferences that NOW can’t interrupt.

So true. I was in the same boat. Though I haven’t really followed the college game since Dan Marino played for Pitt. :D

There are a ton of Christians in the NFL. Let the feminazis try to take on the most popular sport in America! Come to think of it, when are they going to protest at a Mosque because of honor killings and the like? Oops! They’ll retaliate. The go after the Christians because they know they won’t do anything.

I’m in the same boat with Innominatus. I have been tired of SEC dominance too. I also didn’t think very highly of Tebow when he was crying his eyes out after losing to Alabama this last season. I was yelling at the tv for him to suck it up and stop crying! But now I have to admit, I respect him more after this decision. He had to of known he would take a bunch of flack from regressives, liberals, and intolerant close minded feminists, but he still went through with it. This shows he has some guts and isn’t a crybaby. It’s also a great message. You never know what an unborn child might accomplish 20+ years later if they are never allowed to leave the womb alive. As Americans, we believe that we all have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but regressives don’t believe these rights apply to a living human being if they are still in their mother’s womb.

Regardless of what happens with CBS, Tebow and family have already won. The message is being head by more that if it were on the air during the super bowl and this is extended coverage—CBS in now a moot point!

You might have a point. But I’d like to see free speech win one. Either way, they should put it up on the YouTube and watch it get a million or two views.

Fair warning, but here comes a rant.

This kind of thing makes me want to beat my head against the wall. As long as you agree with these people, they don’t care if you have any morals or not. They don’t care what kind of person you are. If you take a stand against them, then you are immediately declared to be homophobic, racist, etc. etc.

I would assume the ad would be a celebration of Tebow’s life. How they could make something bad out of that is beyond me. I think they need to find something real to protest against.

    Rant over!

LD, one thing that helps me is to remember Alinsky Rule # 5. Ridicule is a powerful weapon, but only if you allow it to be.

They have to discredit any opposing viewpoint. And since reality works against them, the attack individuals, not ideas. If they can discredit you by calling you a racist-homophobe-fascist-redneck-ignorant-teabagger, then they can assume that others will ignore what you have to say. So, your ideas are ignored. The trick is to redirect. You don’t have to defend yourself, stick to the idea. They get really irate when you do that. Eventually, most of them implode into a shrill hissy-fit, and you win!

  • Debbie Right Truth January 30, 2010 at 12:21 am

Thank you Tebow family. You have brought the truth out about “pro-choice”. It is NOT pro-choice, but pro-abortion. If they were truly pro-choice, they would praise Mrs. Tebow for her choice of LIFE

      Matt January 30, 2010 at 1:05 am

Well, I guess that shows what they really believe. Or, as Justice Ginsberg (AKA Bela Legosi) likes to say, …”Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.”

  • John Carey January 30, 2010 at 2:05 am

    Matt,
Progressives believe they always know what is best for us because they are such intellectuals and we conservatives are so backwards and uneducated clinging to our guns and religion. As I have said before they have gotten a free pass for far too long. It is time to connect the dots between the Progressives Caucus and DSA. It’s time to show the America people what these folks are really about. Good post!

    • Matt
      Matt January 30, 2010 at 10:49 am

Thanks John, I had really forgotten about the DSA. That bears some examination.

  • Don January 30, 2010 at 3:40 am

CBS needs the money, otherwise they wouldn’t even think about airing it.

  • Don January 30, 2010 at 5:55 am

It amazes me how anyone could think of abortion. That is a life. If it were a rule that those who want to advocate for abortion had to witness an abortion that was performed with the aid of a sonogram – a 3D sonogram – in which you see the baby try desperately to get away from the doctor’s instrument, then I believe there would be far fewer “pro-choice” kooks.

      Matt January 30, 2010 at 10:51 am

      So true Don!

  • Trestin Meacham January 30, 2010 at 8:26 am

CBS is brilliant on this one. The attention this message is getting will only help increase what will be the best ratings they get all year. The left is really shooting shooting themselves with this one. No way does this get pulled.

      Matt January 30, 2010 at 10:52 am

Hype? I had not thought of that.

I think they are going to air it. And the left has their panties in a bunch because a gay marriage one WON”t be aired! Yeah for CBS.

      Matt January 31, 2010 at 11:17 pm

      That would be a win.
