Wow, CH 2.0 has really been busy as of late. We are blessed with many good contributors and even when we disagree with one another it is in a thoughtful, respectful manner that only serves to help us all get something out of it. Matt, you have really got something good here.

I thought I would throw a curve ball and give us all a bit of ear candy. We are all probably familiar with that great piece of Americana written by Ernest Thayer titled “Casey at the bat” and published in the San Fransico Examiner in 1888. It was later made into a short cartoon by the folks at Disney in 1946 and they even made a sequel of sorts in 1954. But I recently stumbled upon a modern update to this great poem and immediately knew I wanted to post it here at my favorite internet hangout. In fact, I will post all three of the a fore mentioned videos.

First the 1946 video by Disney:

Secondly, the 1954 sequel by Disney:

And finally hat tip to FloppingAces, here is a modern take on the classic, entitled “Obama at the bat”:

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.
