I know this has nothing to do with Conservative politics, but as the title indicates, Ronnie James Dio died this morning.  Known for his powerful voice and lyrics focusing on the battle between good and evil, he leaves behind his wife and manager, Wendy.

Here is a message from the official Dio website:

Message from Wendy Dio

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio

Here are some videos as a fitting tribute.

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

I saw him a couple of times in the ’80′s and most recently with “Heaven and Hell,” he still sounded good. My son and I were hoping to see him perform his solo work sometime in the future.
    Rest in peace Ronnie.
