Fake Student Protests Revisited

In my last post regarding the “activists” that protested at Senator McCain’s office.  I speculated about the links that these “students” had to other organizations, and how they might be funded.  One of the “activists” (unconfirmed) left a comment on the last post.  I did challenge her as follows:

Ms. Unzueta, I am not publicizing your site, I am exposing your actions. You are attempting to distract from the death, crime, and economic loss that you, and other illegals cause for our country.

I do have two questions:

1. What gives you the right to violate our laws, assist others in doing so, and then demand amnesty?

2. Why did you abandon your friends to face deportation? I wonder where your strength of conviction is there. You can post at my site and claim that I’m publicizing yours, and all the while, your friends are in ICE custody.

We’ll see if we get a response.

If you had really done your research, you would know why I walked out. I have explained it in several interviews…. and you have not seen the last of us, or me, yet. Hope you have a good day.

We thought we’d get nothing meaningful as a response.  She didn’t fail us in that regard.

In the meantime, the folks at Newsbusters have proven themselves to be better researchers than I.  Kindly read the following excerpt to see what they found.

CNN’s Casey Wian on Friday’s Newsroom filed a one-sided report on an illegal immigrant activist who was arrested for participating in a sit-in at Senator John McCain’s office on Monday. Wian omitted the liberal affiliation of the activist’s group, oversimplified the DREAM Act (the cause of the activist), and neglected how it would open the path for illegals to receive in-state tuition.

Wian’s interview of Lizbeth Mateo aired 10 minutes into the 11 am Eastern hour. An on-screen graphic mentioned Mateo’s affiliation with an organization called Dream Team Los Angeles, but the correspondent didn’t mention this explicitly during his report. The 25-year-old illegal immigrant, who came to the U.S. with her parents when she was 14, wore the T-shirt of another organization she leads called The DREAM is Coming.com. This organization’s website has a donate page which links to a Causes.com page for the United We Dream Network, a coalition which includes liberal organizations such as the National Council for La Raza, the Center for American Progress, and the New World Foundation.

Of course, CNN did a puff piece about the group.  However, Newsbusters came through with the linkages I think most of us suspected.  First, we have the National Council for La Raza (they do claim to not be part of the “reconquista.”  You can judge for yourself).    At any rate they are part of a very large, and apparently well-funded organization.  Then, we have the Center for American Progress, a George Soros funded group that is bent on pushing the “progressive,” statist agenda.  The New World Foundation is much the same.

Essentially, I think we might conclude that these “activists” are useful idiots.  They are being used by the “progressives” and larger advocacy groups to put a human face on the illegal immigration debate, while covering up the real intent and damage.  However, the real human face of illegal immigration can be found more accurately in the tens of thousands of US citizens that have been killed by illegal immigrants.  Those are the faces that the MSM will never show us-CNN will never do a ten-minute interview with survivors or family members, so I guess it will be up to us to do discuss the facts.
