“Hail Mary, full of grace…kill my classmates!”

You have to wonder what some folks are thinking,  because bringing Rosary Beads to Fieldstone Secondary School is a crime of some sort, even though it’s not in their policies.  Here is local coverage from WABC. (It’s not like the MSM will cover it at the national level)

HAVERSTRAW (WABC) — The parents of a high school student from Rockland County are demanding answers after their ninth grader was suspended for wearing rosary beads to school.

He was suspended even though the school doesn’t even have a policy banning them. So did the principal go too far? Jason Laguna is a former altar boy and proud Catholic. He got his rosary beads as a gift, thinks they look cool and sometimes wears them under his shirt at school. But last Friday, right before dismissal, he pulled them out on his way out. He was given a one-day suspension from Fieldstone Secondary School. His mother calls the punishment extreme, considering the 14-year-old is a member of student government and, according to his last report card, “is a pleasure to have in class.” Laguna says she was told the school has an unwritten policy regarding beads because they could be used to show gang affiliation. The principal claims it was insubordination, saying Laguna’s actions, “endangered the safety, health, morals or welfare of himself or others.” Jason was supposed to stay home Friday, but late Thursday the district superintendent put that on hold pending further investigation. It may not be divine intervention, but his mother has contacted the American Civil Liberties Union as she continues to fight the suspension. (Emphasis mine)

I would be surprised if the ACLU helps, it is, after all, a Christian symbol.  Though they may do it as one of those rare cases, so they can say that they’re REALLY not against Christianity (And yes, the monkeys you see ARE flying out of my butt).

I noted insubordination.  Insubordination towards what?  The state?  The school?  The Chosen One?  I think they might want to explain that.  While I’m at it, who has “unwritten policies” any more?  That’s just asking to get sued.

Public schools…leave if you can, sue if you must.  They must be combated in every legal means available.

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

“….his mother has contacted the American Civil Liberties Union as she continues to fight the suspension.”

Good, i hope they sue them into the right thing. And if i were one of his class mates, i’d turn up at school wearing rosary beads too, let em suspend everyone, sick and tired of the bureaucratic fascists pushing and shoving people around just because they feel like it.

I agree that they should sue, but going to he ACLU might very well be barking up the wrong tree. In most cases, the ACLU sues to prevent any type of religious expression, especially Christianity.

Sounds like the head of that school was Bill Maher. These anti-religious nuts just don’t surprise me any more.

I remember a man who sixty-five years ago wanted to give animals rights but deny rights to Jews and others, in the name of progress. And I am only thirty.

Well except for the fact that I don’t like to see people wear rosary beads like jewelry, I thought the school was ridiculous for suspending the boy. Public schools are not using common sense these days. I still remember all the stupid stuff my boys got detention and suspensions for, but the schools just keep getting worse and worse.

It’s also crazy as to what some of the kids DO NOT get suspended for.

Control, control, control. First God, the 10 Commandments, Prayer, Creationism, the Cross, prayer beads, the Rosary. The goal is Godlessness.

“Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” 1 Timothy 4:2 Don’t try and understand them just mark their wickedness for what it is. They cannot hear nor understand. Their understanding is sealed by their own “Godness”.

Matt, a LOT of kids in the local high schools wear rosaries, especially Hispanics. Sadly, it’s more out of fashion than actual religious devotion.

Dude! Of course he was suspended. The rosary beads didn’t have Obama standing behind a teleprompter dangling at the bottom.
