I’ve been drawing comparison to the 1930’s for the last year or so.  Over the last week, the comparisons are becoming clearer.  So, I think it’s time to put it all down, and let the readers tell me if I’m barking up the wrong tree.

Factor One: Anti-Semitism

Of course, the early 20th century, and especially after WWI and during the Great Depression, Jews were the popular scapegoats for all of the ills suffered in Germany.  While Anti-Semitism wasn’t limited to Germany, it was in Germany where it reached it’s demonic end.  I don’t think I need to recap Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, so let’s take a look at what is happening now.

First up, let’s take a look at what is being funded at universities here in the US.

Public universities, right here in the US, are funding events that advocate a second Holocaust.  There is no public outcry against it (Other than from the alternative media).

The young lady in the video represents a group called the Muslim Students Association (MSA).  Here is some background on that organization from Discover the Networks.

Established in January 1963 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada, or MSA (also known as MSA National) currently has chapters on nearly 600 college campuses (including more than 150 chapters affiliated with the national organization) across North America. (The relationship between MSA National and the individual university chapters is not a fixed hierarchy, but rather a loose connection. Thus the policies and views of the national organization may differ from those of some of the local chapters.) Stating that its mission is “to serve the best interest of Islam and Muslims in the United States and Canada so as to enable them to practice Islam as a complete way of life,” MSA is the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America.

Founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, MSA was named in a May 1991 Muslim Brotherhood memorandum as one of the Brotherhood’s likeminded “organizations of our friends”[1] who shared the common goal of destroying America and turning it into a Muslim nation. These ”friends” were described by the Brotherhood as groups that could help teach Muslims “that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands … so that … God’s religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions.”

Think that this is just isolated?  Here is more from Front Page Magazine.

In October 2000, the president of UCLA’s MSA led a crowd of demonstrators at the Israeli consulate in chants of “Death to Israel!” and “Death to the Jews!”

At UCLA’s annual “Anti-Zionist Week” festivities, rank-and-file MSA members have raised money for Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists, who are solemnly sworn to the mass murder of Jews and the annihilation of Israel.

At its Annual Conference in 2003, the Iowa MSA invited, as a guest speaker, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad — on record as a proud “supporter of the Hamas movement.”

Alkalima, the newspaper of UC Irvine’s Muslim Student Union (an MSA campus affiliate), once published a special report called “Zionism: The Forgotten Apartheid,” which glorified Hamas and Hezbollah as noble warriors fighting Israeli oppression.

At the 7th annual MSA West Conference held at the University of Southern California in January 2005, former MSA member Ahmed Shama praised Hamas and Hezbollah for being “uncompromising” on their principles, and for refusing to “shake hands with the other side.”

MSA’s Muhammad al-Asi is a frequent guest speaker on university campuses; his hatred of Israel is his trademark theme. In an article titled “The Qur’an Says Zionist Israel Will Be Shattered,” al-Asi wrote: “The prophet of Allah … summed it up when he said: ‘The final hour shall not commence until the Muslims engage Yahud [Jew] in warfare. And the Muslims will deal the deathblow to Yahud. These Yahud will hide behind timber and boulder that will call out on Muslims: O Muslim there is a Yahudi in disguise, come and annihilate him.’”

Appearing as a guest speaker at UC Irvine, al-Asi stated: “We have a psychosis in the Jewish community that is unable to co-exist equally and brotherly [sic] with other human beings. You can take a Jew out of the ghetto, but you can’t take the ghetto out of the Jew, and this has been demonstrated time and time again in Occupied Palestine.”

Amir-Abdel Malik-Ali, formerly a community activist and currently an Oakland, California-based Imam, is a frequent guest lecturer at MSA events. A passionate supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah, he endorses suicide bombings as a legitimate “resistance” tactic: “Palestinian mothers are supporting their children who are suicide bombers, saying, ‘Go honey, go!’ That ain’t suicide; that’s martyrdom.”

Their intent is clear.  They have stated it openly.  Only a few are speaking out against it.  Very few are standing up, and our political left is aiding and abetting the entire thing.

Did I mention that the Southern Poverty Law Center, who purports to study hate groups, has no entries on the MSA?  They do, however, have a wealth of information on the Tea Parties, all false, mind you.

Then we have the fiasco of the “Freedom Flotilla.”  The IDF has been enforcing a blockade of Gaza, ever since the terrorist group, Hamas, took over.  Since the blockade has been put in effect, the Israeli government has been shipping in humanitarian supplies by the millions of tons, and offered to allow the flotilla to dock at an Israeli port, and pending the inspection of the cargo, send it straight to Gaza.  The Flotilla refused, and when the IDF boarded the main vessel, they were attacked.  Here are the videos that most of the MSM will not show you.

And what was the result of this event?   Leftist and Islamic governments from all over the world condemned Israel for defending itself.

Then, just to show more media bias, here is long time White House Correspondent, Helen Thomas.

Verdict: Just like the 1930’s Jews are being scapegoated, protested, and there are even open calls for their extermination.  And, just like the 30’s, authorities are not taking this seriously.  In fact, it seems that campus authorities are turning a blind eye to this activity.  The MSM, as we see, are supporting it, and refuse to show both sides of the story.

This is how genocide starts.  A group is scapegoated, vilified, and dehumanized.  Then the violence will begin.  It’s only a question of when.  At the onset of that violence, will our government, and the “progressives” that support it, speak out against it, or participate?  So far, they appear to be on the side of genocide.

History should be our teacher.  This pattern is so clear; it’s like looking at a documentary.  This has happened before, but does it have to happen again?  I will join with my Conservative friends, who will say, “NEVER AGAIN!”

Will you?

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Great post Matt. I do believe we are heading down that path and history is trying real hard to repeat itself. We cannot allow good people to sit on their hands and remain silent this time around.

Thanks John. I wish I were wrong.

Hatred of Jews will always be with us, it’s just the way the socialists and leftists think, we can’t change their thinking and this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. We’re talking the people who know that communism slaughtered close to 100 million people across this planet and still choose to celebrate it, support it and wish more of it upon us. 6 million Jews is nothing for them.

We can only shame them as long as they can be shamed and fight them when that is necessary too.

I do agree that socialism is a death machine. Though, is it just me, or is a special level of hatred reserved for Jews?

    Anti-Semitism is sad pitiful jealousy.

The problem is, that envy is turning to hatred that many wish to act upon.

    Scary stuff, Matt.

It is scary, and it is already being acted upon.

Truly scary stuff. I guess the elite, who are intellectually dead, have to resort to antisemitism out of nostalgia.

Very true Sir. Too bad that they don’t have nostalgia for freedom.

  • Steve Dennis June 7, 2010 at 9:47 pm

I see many similarities between America today and Barack Obama’s rise to power and Hitler’s rise to power in the 1930′s. It really is scary when you think about it. Most people laugh you off when you make that suggestion, but those are the people who are probably not well-read in history.

    • Matt
      Matt June 7, 2010 at 10:19 pm

It doesn’t take a history major to draw the comparisons. It’s right out there in the open.

Dear Matt..I love u for this post..it is so needed ! : Just like the 1930’s Jews are being scapegoated, protested, and there are even open calls for their extermination. • Karen Howes June 7, 2010 at 10:56 pm

I see this too, Matt, and it’s scary.

But you know what else I’ve noticed? Civilizations that pick on Jews die. It’s almost like the hallmark of a country/society in decline.

Seems like someone is looking out for the Jewish people. It’s almost as if someone has a purpose for them. :D

  • Wilfford Brimley June 7, 2010 at 11:12 pm

How could I have missed Obama’s similarity to Hitler? It’s all there! The obsession with racial purity, conspiracy theories about white people being enslaved, attacking homosexuals, stamping out bilingualism, taking over neighboring countries, and street battle with unions!

    • Matt
      Matt June 7, 2010 at 11:38 pm

      Ahem…

Do you realize that the POTUS is not at all mentioned in this post?

      Read before you troll.

  • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 1:38 am

That was irony, because lots of people are obsessed with racial purity, conspiracy theories about white people being enslaved, attacking homosexuals, stamping out bilingualism, endless war, and busting all the unions. Like Hitler.

You are correct, it’s not Obama. We agree.

  • Mark June 8, 2010 at 2:45 am

    Matt,

Great post. One would have to be blind to miss the striking parallels between the current ‘Progressive’/Islamofascist alliance and the ’30s and ’40s, which was, not coincidentally, the last time leftists (National Socialists and Fascists) and Islamists joined forces to slaughter Jews. Such blindness, though, is being fostered by the so-called major media, which blacks out any news and views that do not fit their lefty agenda.

Unless we resist, and take back our country, the last, best hope for the world, the American flame of freedom, may well be extinguished, plunging the world into the nightmare of a new Dark Age.

    Keep up the good fight!

    • Matt
      Matt June 8, 2010 at 7:45 pm

Thank you Mark. It’s much appreciated.

If we lose, there will be another dark ages.

  • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 11:58 am

Ummmm you do know Hitler’s sworn enemies were the Democratic Socialists (which are still around). Both parties used “socialist” in the name. The Democratic Socialists (who Hitler also called Democrats) believed in elections and a representative democracy, while the National Socialists said that voting was a Jewish conspiracy that was only seen suring periods of cultural decline. And Hitler swore to stamp out “Socialism” oh like thousands of times in Mein Kampf.

People using the word “Socialist” to describe the Nazis are often Hitler apologists and Holocaust deniers.

    • Mark June 8, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Nice try at baiting with your last sentence, dolt — but I am Jewish, and anything but a Hitler apologist or Holocaust denier. Your primary ‘argument’ is ludicrously premised on the notion that leftists do not conduct fratricidal wars amongst themselves, hence Hitler’s battles with (other) socialists must mean that he was attacking from the right. Suuuuuure. Some of the most horrendous wars in history have been brother against brother, and more to the point, lefty v. lefty. Although it is widely, and correctly, accepted that leftists were responsible for more than 100 milliion deaths in the 20th century alone, it is rarely pointed out that the overwhelming majoriity of the victims were themsleves leftists, just not the “right” flavor.

Many if not most leftists, not only Nazis and Fascists, believe elections are a fundamentally unnecessary bourgeois institution, and that the people’s will is best served by a strong dictatorship, a fuhrer or a nomenklatura. That Hitler determined to destroy other leftists, including Fabians, Social Democrats, Bolsheviks, ad nauseum, in no way constitutes evidence that he was not a leftist — quite the contrary, he was merely clearing the field so that his leftist regime could reign unrestrained by opposition from his flanks.

  • Mark June 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm

PS: You DO know that most people who object to using the word “Socialist” to describe the Nazis are often Hitler apologists and Holocaust deniers, don’t you? :-)

    • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 3:56 pm

Someone who objects to use of word “socialist” to describe Nazis and is a Hitler apologist?

      One example please.

  • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 2:51 pm

Sure people that kill Jews and leftists are themselves leftists. Killing leftists just proves someone is a leftist.

Which fits perfectly with Hitler’s main premise, that the Jews were the real agents of genocide against white people and that the Nazis had kill the Marxist Jews purely in self defense. You seem to be in complete agreement with Hitler there.

Which brings us full circle to today and Marxist Obama’s FEMA death camps which are merely part of Saul Alinsky’s master plan to enslave whites. This is the same thing that Hitler accused the Jews of, and this is what American Nazis are raised on.

And I guess American Nazis who fantasize (and sometimes actually do) kill “race traitors” are “liberals” obsessed with racial purity.

Please explain how the racist liberals elected a mulatto president without using the term “white guilt,” which is only used by white supremacists.

  • Teresa June 8, 2010 at 6:29 pm

Hitler was all about power and he didn’t care if he eliminated another leftist or some other person who stood in the way of his attaining and keeping that power. Obama is similar in that respect. He has a lust for power. Hitler was all about ethnic purity and purification and he didn’t care whether the Jew was a Marxist or a conservative, as long as he was exterminated or eliminated. He sent them all to concentration camps. American Nazis or white supremacy groups are to the extreme and their economic beliefs vary from group to group. Obama may have these FEMA camps to get rid of anyone who disagrees with his Marxist ideology. It only takes people being ignorant and doing nothing to allow something tragic to occur that would be similar to that of the last Holocaust.

    • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 6:48 pm

Nazism is above all conspiracy theory about how the racial mongrels plan to enslave and kill the whites, which goes hand in hand with “death panels,” and older stories about the Jews kidnapping Christian babies and causing the plague. The FEMA camp story and the US being invaded by the UN……well let’s just put it this way, when you are reading those web sites, you’ll find you are no more than one mouse click away from Holocaust denial web sites.

          • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 9:06 pm

            Question – similarities to 1930?

            Answer: Yes

Conspiracy theories about liberals planning to kill all the whites? YES

Hitler used “liberals” and “Jew” interchangeably, and said the gencidal Jews (and liberals) had to be killed in self defense.

Today? Conspiracy theories are everywhere that liberals are planning to kill you, me, grandma etc etc. Just like Hitler said about the “liberals.”

Is there a propaganda industry that pumps these conspiracy theories out through the radio, television, and internet? Yes, yes there is, better than anything Hitler could ever dream of.

            2. Mentally ill.
            3. The poorest excuse for a troll that I’ve seen for some time.
            4. A OFA reject.

At any rate, he needs to actually present something coherent, other than gibberish about tin foil hat stuff, or I’ll ban him.

I thought he’d at least be amusing, but he doesn’t even have comedic value.

        • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Kind of muddled, but you should check out Umberto Eco’s essay 1995 on Fascism because he grew up in Fascist Italy.

Eco makes an obvious point about the difference between Fascism and Communism: Fascism is a spiritual movement (which Hitler said many times). The Nazis started as defenders of Christian values and eventually founded a new version of Nordic religion, while the Italian Fascists identified themselves as Catholic at some points. It is about “blood” and “spirit.” . Communism is not spiritual, it a “material” (pseudo) scientific system that is explicitly atheist. The Nazi party platform rejects “materialism” while Marxism is all about dialectic materialism. You actually can’t get any farther apart than those two systems.

          • Wilfford Brimley June 8, 2010 at 11:12 pm

Continuing to read the other piece, there are numerous errors.

Hitler was not for redistribution of wealth (except for the Jews). In fact, he blamed Jews for class struggle and envy, and that people were entitled to what they had whether they had gotten it through work or luck. Hitler mocked and condemned “civil rights,” “social justice,” trade unions.

This is how people unwittingly end up quoting Hitler and adopting his policies. They hear some idiot on TV claiming that Hitler promoted “social justice” and “empathy,” so they start ridiculing “social justice.” In fact, Hitler denounced “social justice,” “empathy,” and “class warfare” as Jewish conspiracies. \

The reason Nazi talking points are spreading so rapidly is that people are told that Hitler was FOR these things (which Hitler condemns in Mein Kampf over and over) , and soon someone has absorbed a dozen Nazi talking points, confident that they have proved to the world they are no Nazi. Then they are in the “Emperor Has No Clothes” scenario.

There is a long history of nazi apologists going back to the 1930s. Today we have Jonah Goldberg and Glenn Beck cherry picking obscure passages to make Hitler sound liberal (while ignoring the things he did, which are apparently irrelevant), the same way Nazi and Hitler apologists mine Nazi propaganda to make Hitler sound like a nice guy. It’s all too easy for someone to end up strutting around quoting Hitler without realizing it, and it is pretty pervasive in some circles.

But yeah, keep trying to paint liberals as Nazis. I guess that means liberals share Nazi beliefs about racial purity, conspiracy theories, deporting immigrants, stamping out bilingualism, eradicating homosexuality and atheism; promoting militarism and national spirit; purging the universities of disloyal professors; burning Darwins books, promoting early marriage, chastity, and prohibiting contraception. Yep those liberals sure are just like the Nazis.

Man, you are really a terrible troll. I hope you’re not getting paid, as someone is getting ripped off.

Come to think of it, that’s probably not a bad idea anyway.

BTW, Goldberg has thousands of references, you cite none. Good luck trying to convince anyone with that.

          • Don June 9, 2010 at 1:25 am

@Willford…You miss the point of the OP entirely. No one is saying that the Nazi’s were liberals or that the modern day liberals are Nazis. What Matt is saying is that now, as in the 1930s, there is a very strong anti-Jewish backlash going on in the world.

            Period.

            Get it?

Now put your damned tin foil hat back on and go the hell somewhere else OR stay here and contribute with actual intelligent thought. I have had a bad day and have will have no truck with a troll such as you.
