It seems that the Democrats are going home, and are avoiding their constituents…

If the time-honored tradition of the political meeting is not quite dead, it seems to be teetering closer to extinction. Of the 255 Democrats who make up the majority in the House, only a handful held town-hall-style forums as legislators spent last week at home in their districts.

It was no scheduling accident.

With images of overheated, finger-waving crowds still seared into their minds from the discontent of last August, many Democrats heeded the advice of party leaders and tried to avoid unscripted question-and-answer sessions. The recommendations were clear: hold events in controlled settings — a bank or credit union, for example — or tour local businesses or participate in community service projects.

And to reach thousands of constituents at a time, without the worry of being snared in an angry confrontation with voters, more lawmakers are also taking part in a fast-growing trend: the telephone town meeting, where chances are remote that a testy exchange will wind up on YouTube. (emphasis mine)

So, they go to DC and vote for legislation that harms their constituents.  Then, they come home on recess, and hide.

Can you spell, o-u-t o-f t-o-u-c-h?

Democrats heeded the advice of party leaders and tried to avoid unscripted question-and-answer sessions.”

Can they not answer the hard questions?  Did they vote for legislation that they have not read, or understand?  I think we all know the answers to that.  Come to think about it, this sounds a lot like the policy of another prominent Democrat, doesn’t it?

Take a look at the rest of the article.  They didn’t talk to Republicans, and published the Democrat comments regarding “talking points,” without challenge.

November is coming Democrats, and your constituents aren’t going to forget what you’ve done, or that you’ve avoided them.

Matt

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

I read an article today on this Matt. Yep, they’re ashamed of their actions and now do not want to face the music. Come November they will face the music.

I love how they’re trying to make it seem as if they’re the victims. I think that will fall on hollow ears.

This seems to be becoming a trend for the Democrats. They are afraid of us when they are home, but when they get to Washington they push a radical leftist agenda through by any means neccessary. We have to make sure that these people do not make their way back to Washington after November!

Indeed sir. We’ve been saying that elections have consequences. In November, we get to teach the Dems and RINOS that votes have consequences.

I think this is the dumbest thing they could have done. Last year year people vented and the liberal press even used it to attack conservatives. This year they are going to sit in their ivory towers. People will see this and remember it in November.

Yep, what comes around goes around.

Good, stay away leftist scum, let the anger burn and stew, november is coming, the more people are pissed off with the democrats, the greater the amount of trash that’ll be taken out.

You have a way with words sir.

I remember Kathy Castor, a local Dem politician here in Tampa, got heckled at a town hall meeting, saying afterward that she had expected some “rabble-rousing.” And that, from now on, she would have such meetings over the phone.

These people should remember what happened to French and Russian monarchs when THEY ignored their people…

While I doubt it will come to that, it is a nice analogy.

  • Infidel de Manahatta June 8, 2010 at 2:18 pm

The Democrats believe in Democracy. And they are going to force their Statist agenda down the throats of the idiots who dare oppose them.

Yeah, in their “democracy,” you can only vote for what they want.
