This year so far has been a rough one for our Constitution, individual liberties, the free market system, and pretty much for the survival of our Republic.  The Obama administration along with Democrats in the Congress has decided that they know what’s best for the American people.  Since then the mindset of the majority party has been damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

It started with the partisan passage of the Health Care Reform Bill that penalizes people with a fine who choose not to sign up for a plan.  However the Obama administration is now calling it a tax instead of a penalty even though nowhere in the bill does it say tax.  This was done to counter the Florida lawsuit by claiming that the government has the right to impose taxes and Florida can do little to oppose it.  Read more about the mandate turned tax here.  Then the POTUS decided that the “Fat Cats” on Wall Street needed some reform and shortly afterwards the Senate passed the Financial Reform Bill; a reform bill that does little to reform Wall Street.  The bill doesn’t address the root cause of our financial meltdown (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), and takes reform of the derivative market off the table.  The bill also protects the established (Crony Capitalism) while creating barriers for upstarts to enter.  It’s an all out assault on our free market system.  It is now being reconciled behind closed doors so a final vote can push the bill to the President’s desk for signature.  You can read Rep. Paul Ryan’s take on the bill here.

Next up was the FCC and their attempt to regulate the Internet.  After being turned away by the U.S. Court of Appeals, Congress directed the FCC not to act on Net Neutrality without explicit direction from Congress.  The FCC decided to ignore the court ruling and Congress and press forward to regulate the Internet, which could bring about the end of freedom on the Internet as we know it.

We all have witness firsthand the failure of our government to respond to the tragic gulf oil spill.  They have continued to hinder progress by starting and stopping cleanup efforts.  They enacted a 6 month moratorium to halt all offshore drilling that was blocked by a federal judge on Tuesday.  This moratorium could easily drive away a large number of oil companies costing the region tens of thousands of jobs and lost income.  The Obama administration seems more interested with using this crisis to push through cap and trade than actually finding solutions to the oil spill crisis.  This has been another colossal failure for big government; a big government that Obama and the Democrats want to expand.

While all this was going on, Arizona passed an immigration enforcement law that enforces the current federal immigration laws on the books.  They acted out of necessity to protect their citizens from an out-of-control illegal immigration problem on their border.  Instead of supporting this bold and courageous move to help the federal government enforce immigration laws, Obama’s DOJ is not threatening to file a law suit against Arizona’s immigration enforcement law.

Finally there are rumors that the President is going to issue an executive order to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.  Not only does this bypass all this nation’s immigration laws, if successful it will add millions of people to a system that is already on the verge of collapse with no way to pay for it.

Lately I’ve been feeling that our Republic is unraveling.  Individual liberties and our free market system are being attack on so many fronts.  Our Constitution is being treated like joke by our elected representatives.  Corruption in Washington is running rampant as they continue to raid our treasury. We are more deeply divided now than we were prior to the POTUS taking office.  And the best I can come up with is “elections do have consequences.”

The media should have done their job exposing President Obama for the radical ideologue he is.  Citizens should have done their job and researched the history of the tax and spend Democrats.  Now we are all paying the price and drowning in Obama’s sea of hope and change; just how much more can the Republic handle?  I sometimes wonder what the social climate was like when the Roman Republic was on the verge of collapse.  Were they experiencing the same misgivings as we are each day?  Did the same uncertainty swirl through the hearts of the people?  Did they even see it coming?

Or did someone in a crowd of many simply say, ”elections do have consequences.”

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

Matt

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

Did they even see it coming?

My simple-minded answer would be “probably not.” It’s hard to respond to something when you have no awareness of it… That’s what seems to be happening now.

While some people focus their attentions on reacting to and critiquing the latest crises, others are working on shaping the next wave of voters. Yes, you may be tired of hearing it, but I’m referring to public education again…

Have a great day! Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the comments concerned. I agree that many probably did not see it coming because they were caught up in the games kind of the way we are today. But there we’re those that not only knew it was coming, but created the structure behind the scenes for the transition for when it happened. They needed the right crisis to make their move and the trigger was when Caesar crossed the Rubicon. When does this government cross the Rubicon, it in terms of our Republic? I don’t have the answer, but I do wonder if we will see it coming or even know when it will happen.

“The media should have done their job exposing President Obama for the radical ideologue he is. Citizens should have done their job and researched the history of the tax and spend Democrats.”

I know the media will never learn, but heavens above, if the citizens won’t either, not even God can help us then.

Thanks for the comments MK. I’m with you about the media, I’m not sure they want to learn because I they tend to be left leaning and feel they have a responsibility to push the left’s agenda. However in regards to the people, I feel that people just didn’t take the time to do their homework for various reasons they thought were acceptable at the time. Most of the information they received was from the same left media machine that is pushing the left’s agenda and many of them accepted it at face value. They failed to use the various sources available to them and by the time Election Day rolled around they felt like they were making a choice that was backed by solid data. Now we see a great deal of buyer’s remorse and a huge backlash against the MSM. You can see this by the falling rating numbers of the MSM. I believe that one of the driving forces behind this is not because they one sided, but because the people that now have regrets feel like they have been betrayed by the MSM. They are waking up and they no longer trust what they see or hear from the MSM.

The media is responsible for not exposing this man for the radical that he is, but the voters were lazy also. They were so tired of Bush that they were going to vote for Democrats no matter what. The voters did not do their homework on this man, all of the warning signs were there, people just didn’t want to believe they were true.

    • John Carey June 27, 2010 at 10:50 am

You will find no disagreement here Steve. As you stated the media is responsible for not exposing Obama for the radical he is. That is perhaps a better way of putting it. Voters are indeed responsible for not doing their homework. I’m not sure if it was because they were lazy or just asleep at the wheel. I mean let’s face it, besides us on the conservative right, not many people could even comprehend the notion that Obama was a Marxist. I mean this just doesn’t happen in America. We were labeled as kooks and extremists on the right for assuming such a thing, even though we did our homework. Then after he was elected and his policies began to reveal the man he is, and we started peeling back the layers of the onion that revealed his radical connections, now the MSM classifies us racists’ anti-government radicals. The people that didn’t do their homework began to wake up and join us, but the damage is already done. With their help a radical Marxist was elected and yes they’re partly responsible for not connecting the dots. But the real question is where do we go from here? Thanks for the comment Steve.
