In a shocking turn of events…well, not all that shocking, Vice President Joe Biden gaffed, yet again.  For a politician, and especially a Democrat, stating an obvious truth is a gaffe.

Vice President Joe Biden gave a stark assessment of the economy today, telling an audience of supporters, “there’s no possibility to restore 8 million jobs lost in the Great Recession.”

Appearing at a fundraiser with Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) in Milwaukee, the vice president remarked that by the time he and President Obama took office in 2008, the gross domestic product had shrunk and hundreds of thousands of jobs had been lost.

“We inherited a godawful mess,” he said, adding there was “no way to regenerate $3 trillion that was lost. Not misplaced, lost.”

Claims for jobless benefits fell by the largest number in two months last week, but were still high enough to signal weak job growth. Meanwhile, the Senate on Thursday failed to pass an extension of unemployment benefits.

Biden said today the economy is improving and noted that in the past four quarters, there has been 4 percent growth in the economy. Over the last five months, more than 500,000 private sector jobs were created.

“We know that’s not enough,” the vice president said.

Last week the White House put out a Recovery and Reinvestment Act update claiming that between 2.2 million and 2.8 million jobs were either saved or created because of the stimulus as of March 2010. In signing the Recovery Act into law on Feb 17, 2009, Mr. Obama said the measure “will create or save 3-and-a-half million jobs over the next two years.”

As you can see, after the gaffe (telling the truth) he had to try to explain it away with some old fashioned Democratic techniques; blaming others, and lying.  Of course, he had to make the allusion to Bush, “we inerited an awful mess.”  He failed to mention that the POTUS, through his policies, took a fire, and threw gasoline on it.  He also fails to mention that the Porkulus has not seemed to create many jobs at all.  Given that the government has “misplaced” billions of the Porkulus, and that there was a great deal of fraud in terms of “jobs saved or created,” you really can’t say that the Porkulus did much at all (remember places saying that the Porkulus “saved” more jobs than they had employees?).  Now, it did line the pockets of Obama supporters quite nicely, but then again, we were telling you that from the beginning.

Of course, the government could allow the private sector to create more jobs, but that isn’t in the cards until 2012.  Cut taxes and reduce the size of government, and the economy will take off again.  However, that doesn’t allow the government to control everything.  You can probably  guess the position of the current administration regarding government control.

Well, at any rate, Biden earned the title of Captain Obvious, if only for a few seconds before he returned to his talking points.

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

They may have inherited this mess, but what they did with it is all on them. This administration’s policies on the economy have failed and it doesn’t matter what they inherited because they promised to fix it and now Joe Biden is admitting that they can’t. He can blame Bush all he wants, but the fact is Barack Obama has no idea what he is doing.

Very true. They have failed miserably, and have likely prolonged the problems, ironically, just as we predicted they would.

I would disagree in one way, part of me thinks that they want the recession to go on. It provides more crises for them to exploit. Fixing the economy would give them a short term political gain, no doubt. But, keeping it going gives them the potential for far greater power in the long run. They are looking “big picture.”

Damn biden is such a moron, someone ought to ask him why it can’t be regenerated. I mean, it was there before, what’s stopping you from generating it again if you did it before. Come on biden you fool, how do you lose something if you never had it.

The truth is that biden was talking about himself and his buddies, he just confirmed what some of us know already, leftists can’t generate squat, they can only sponge off others.

If America generated $3 trillion in the past, it can regenerate 10 trillion in the future, it’s your culture, it’s in your blood, you just need leftist spongers to get off your back and out of your way, that’s all that’s standing in your way.

The political left is the closest thing to a parasitic organism that can be found in politics. A free economy can produce nearly unlimited wealth, as long as it is left alone.

Of course they can’t regenerate the lost jobs, not with what they are trying to do. All they can seem to think about is creating more government or public sector jobs. While some of those jobs are certainly needed and useful, they will never create the kind of growth that private sector jobs can. I honestly wonder sometimes if they even have a clue about our economy.

They are either clueless, or they are intentionally trying to kill the private sector. Either way, their methods are most effective.

I wonder if our Dear Leader, the God Who Walks Among us, will say Biden acted stupidly with his comments. Perhaps Biden is just a “typical white person.”

I doubt it, they almost seem to treat Biden as a pet, or something.
