Late last year climategate rocked the world of global warming alarmists. Before that point we were marching down a path towards a global environmental treaty to save the planet from the dangers of global warming and the green house gases (GHG) that were allegedly the main contributing factors behind the phenomena.
In 2007, a full two years before climategate, the Supreme Court’s decision to classify CO2 as a GHG gave the EPA the power to regulate carbon emissions. The EPA argued that there was only “a causal link between GHGs and climate warming and that was still not unequivocally established.”
According to the ruling, EPA’s action not to regulate GHG emissions was “arbitrary, capricious, or otherwise not in accordance with law”. EPA must reconsider its decision, and ground its reasons for action or inaction in the CAA statute. Unless the EPA can show that CO2 is not involved in the global warming seen around the world, the EPA should regulate it.
It was a terrible decision based on what we now know was skewed scientific data. This ruling is now fueling the EPA’s effort to regulate carbon emissions on a region by region basis across the United States threatening to kill tens of thousands of jobs. It’s also the driving force behind the creation of Cap and Trade. Now remember the last part of the ruling that stated: “Unless the EPA can show that CO2 is not involved in the global warming seen around the world, the EPA should regulate it.”
The email scandal that became climategate alone should have been enough for the EPA to pause and reevaluate the impact of carbon emissions on the environment if any; however they decided that the science was settled in spite of evidence to the contrary and pushed forward with political blinders on. Now we find that the Chinese have a 2,000 year temperature record that reveals that global warming appears to be a normal occurrence.
The following is from the article that was published in the Geophysical Research Letters.
The article was authored by six scientists with the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, the State University of New York at Albany, and Germany’s Justus-Liebig University in Giessen. “The analysis also indicates that the warming during the 10–14th centuries in some regions might be comparable in magnitude to the warming of the last few decades of the 20th century.” From the outset, we knew we would welcome the results from any long-term reconstruction of regional temperatures.
What this Chinese-led team has done, in other words, has confirmed the existence of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP). This is the balmy period between about 950 and 1250 when Greenland was green and grapes grew in Northern England which Michael Mann tried to erase in his discredited Hockey Stick chart because it didn’t suit his conviction that late 20th century global warming was dramatic and unprecedented.
The warming level in the last decades of the 20th century is unprecedented compared with the recent 500 years. However, comparing with the temperature variation over the past 2000 years, the warming during the last decades of the 20th century is only apparent in the TB region, where no other comparable warming peak occurred. For the regions of NE and CE, the warming peaks during 900s–1300s are higher than that of the late 20th century, though connected with relatively large uncertainties.

So basically according to this report our planet had gone through periods of global warming long before we had cars or any other modern day CO2 emitting marvels that enhance the quality of our lives. You would think that this combined with the email scandal would be enough to at least step this issue back through the courts with new data to support that global warming may be a normal occurrence. Additionally this report also tells me that the Chinese are not buying what the global warming alarmists are selling. This means it will be very unlikely that our leading competitor in the economic community will transform their entire energy and manufacturing base into a green market economy. Instead they will watch us foolishly try this nonsensical endeavor and then manufacture and sell us the product we need to make it happen. So either way you slice it, we will ending redistributing money through a carbon trading scheme or through purchasing green energy products and material through China where manufacturing costs are cheaper.
The one thing we can do is contact our elected representative and ask them to take a look at the data again. Another thing that can be done is that states and businesses that stand to lose the most with a cap and tax scheme should once again approach the courts with this new information. Either way we cannot stand by and allow the President or his cronies to get this pushed through.
Liberty forever, freedom for all!
