One of the things that I like to point out is the complete lack of tolerance on the part of the left. While they love to invoke the ideas of “tolerance & diversity,” those ideas are strictly restricted to the left. In other words, “tolerance” means that you are free to agree with the left as much as you like. I know, it’s really nice of them, isn’t it? However, the freedom to choose a different opinion is not an option, and dissent will be punished.
Here is the latest example of this “tolerance.”
A graduate student in Georgia is suing her university after she was told she must undergo a remediation program due to her beliefs on homosexuality and transgendered persons.
The student, Jennifer Keeton, 24, has been pursuing a master’s degree in school counseling at Augusta State University since 2009, but school officials have informed her that she’ll be dismissed from the program unless she alters her “central religious beliefs on human nature and conduct,” according to a civil complaint filed last week.
“[Augusta State University] faculty have promised to expel Miss Keeton from the graduate Counselor Education Program not because of poor academic showing or demonstrated deficiencies in clinical performance, but simply because she has communicated both inside and outside the classroom that she holds to Christian ethical convictions on matters of human sexuality and gender identity,” the 43-page lawsuit reads.
Keeton, according to the lawsuit, was informed by school officials in late May that she would be asked to take part in a remediation plan due to faculty concerns regarding her beliefs pertaining to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues.
“The faculty identifies Miss Keeton’s views as indicative of her improper professional disposition to persons of such populations,” the lawsuit reads.
The remediation plan, according to the lawsuit, noted Keeton’s “disagreement in several class discussions and in written assignments with the gay and lesbian ‘lifestyle,’” as well as Keeton’s belief that those “lifestyles” are cases of identity confusion.
If Keeton fails to complete the plan, including additional reading and the writing of papers describing the impact on her beliefs, she will be expelled from the Counselor Education Program, the lawsuit claims.
In other words, they asked her to “deprogram” herself. Given that religious beliefs are not going to be impacted by politically driven propaganda, what were they going to do if she didn’t “make her mind right” (or, in this case, left)? Or, did them simply expect her to quit due to the requirements? In the end, it’s about idealogical purity. People must expouse the “correct” ideas, or they cannot advance. We’ve covered this in the teaching profession. It permeates the public schools and universities. In a system that is about control, individuals must embrace the party line, and display it in both words and actions. Those that do not are to be punished.
For the background on that, kindly take a look at this on Cultural Marxism.
Marcuse also widened the Frankfurt School’s intellectual work. In the early 1930s, Horkheimer had left open the question of who would replace the working class as the agent of Marxist revolution. In the 1950s, Marcuse answered the question, saying it would be a coalition of students, blacks, feminist women and homosexuals – the core of the student rebellion of the 1960s, and the sacred “victims groups” of political correctness today. Marcuse further took one of political correctness’s favorite words, “tolerance,” and gave it a new meaning. He defined “liberating tolerance” as tolerance for all ideas and movements coming from the left, and intolerance for all ideas and movements coming from the right. When you hear the cultural Marxists today call for “tolerance,” they mean Marcuse’s “liberating tolerance” (just as when they call for “diversity,” they mean uniformity of belief in their ideology).
So, it will be the left’s way, or no way. At least that’s how they see it.
The last line of the FOX article reads…
“A student has a right to express their point of view in and out of class without fear or censorship or expulsion,” French said.
In accordance with Cultural Marxism, there is no option for dissent. There is to be uniformity of thought, or there will be consequences. They are not interested in actual freedom, either in speech, or thought.
I think this young lady is doing the right thing. In court, the universities lose the vast majority of these cases. I think the short term solution is for students to sue every university that interferes with their freedom of speech or freedom of religion. Every professor that fails a student due to their beliefs should be taken to task, as well as to court. They care only about power, and they are completely dishonest in their acquisition of it. So, respond in kind. Overwhelm them with legal actions. Force them to change their fascist policies. And, when the re-institute the same policy under a different name, sue again. It’s the only way to attack this, at least in the short term. We have said many times that the left are like petulant children. Perhaps it is time to give them what every petulant child needs…a good spanking. I think a long series of significant court settlements will suffice. Perhaps if they are punished enough, they will limit their restrictions of speech and conscience, at least until we have the political strength to dismantle their bureacratic support system.
Essentially, this is a way of turning Alinsky against the left, by making them follow their own rule book.
UPDATE: In a related case, the court has opened the door to discrimination against Christians.
A federal judge has ruled in favor of a public university that removed a Christian student from its graduate program in school counseling over her belief that homosexuality is morally wrong. Monday’s ruling, according to Julea Ward’s attorneys, could result in Christian students across the country being expelled from public university for similar views.
“It’s a very dangerous precedent,” Jeremy Tedesco, legal counsel for the conservative Alliance Defense Fund, told FOX News Radio. “The ruling doesn’t say that explicitly, but that’s what is going to happen.”
Yes that is going to happen. Every university, or special interest group, and biased professor will now feel free to declare open season on anyone who disagrees with the “progressive” agenda based on religious belief. Consider it a “purge” in the making.
Tedesco said both cases should be a warning to Christians attending public colleges and universities.
“Public universities are imposing the ideological stances of private groups on their students,” he said. “If you don’t comply, you will be kicked out. It’s scary stuff and it’s not a difficult thing to see what’s coming down the pike.”
Sadly, it is not. I’m thinking that unless this decision is won on appeal, we’re going to need a lot more Christian Universities.

It will be a long, hard road but you are right, we just have to keep challenging them because they will just keep on coming. These people never give up.
They honestly believe that they are so right that we should all tolerate them, but they are the most intolerant people when it comes to views from the right.
Our universities are turning into re-education camps, we must expose them every chance we get.
We’re going to have to keep on fighting. As you can see by the update, it will be an uphill climb.
The radical left did a nice job of marching through the institutions back in the day. It’s well past time that we marched their asses right back out.
I think the lawsuit method is a winner. “See you in court” is never a fun phrase to be thrown at you.
It will take some dough to be able to fund this, but I think the Right could definitely get it done if it banded together to do so.
I don’t know that Conservatives will want to do that march in significant numbers. We like to produce and go into the private sector.
I’ve heard about this, and am very glad to see this young lady fighting back.
Yeah, so much for tolerance and diversity. Intolerance of actual clear thinking and monotony of ideas.
Yup, you just have to keep in mind that like any other liberal idea, it’s actually means the opposite of what is said.
Ah the joys of “tolerance.”
Living in Manhattan I see how tolerant leftists are every day. They are quite tolerant of me as long as I agree with them or if I can’t agree with them remain quiet.
You’re at ground zero for the east, aren’t you?
This is exactly what the lefty universities do (well most all of them are lefty now days). You disagree with their crazy ideologies, You’re the one that needs “reeducation”. They make me sick.
I hope she wins her case.
I hope so too Bunni.
Inside every leftist is a totalitarian fascist. It really is their way or the highway.
One thing i find about all this is, why would homos need counseling. I thought gay sex was like the most wonderful thing or something like that, the way liberals go on and on about it. Don’t tell me homos feel their behavior isn’t right or something. Whatever happened to gay pride and all that.
Besides, can’t a homo find another counseler, last i checked there are hundreds of liberals always yearning to get people on the couch to share feelings and all that so it can’t be that hard. The other thing is, has she stated she won’t counsel homos? If she’s happy to do it, then why not, irrespective of her beliefs. Last i checked, liberal reporters always claim to be unbiased no matter how much evidence there is of their hatred of Conservatives, if it’s good for us then why not for the ass-bandits.
Lastly, I wonder if they would have done the same if she were a muslim, last i checked in the liberal world view [screwed up as it is], muslims are more equal than even the homos. Even if they do, i doubt very much that it would be done with the same gusto. I’m sure there would be plenty of ass-kissing and bending over to various muslim organizations.
The standards for Islamofascists are different. They can publicly call for the stoning of homosexuals, or the extermination of the Jews, but they somehow get a pass on that.
How far are we away from throwing the Christians to the lions? I’m capitalist…sounds like there could be a business opportunity for institutions of higher education that caters to Christians. Good post Matt.
Thanks, John. I think it is as well.
I see where you’re going with this however the university does take public money I’m assuming and therefore one could say this person is “discriminating” against a group, in this case gays. If she is hoping to be a counselor but thinks people are gay because of “identity confusion” then there will be some rocky sessions, indeed. I don’t see how this is any different from a Christian university throwing out somebody because they are gay.
On this one, I will have to disagree.
I think the issue is that she would not see them. I think that is a call that someone in that profession could make.
I think the lawsuit idea is an excellent method of “taking a bite out of the Left”. These Marxists are a bunch of fascists that only allow one type of thinking. We must stop them from taking any more of our freedoms.
I think we just need to wear them down by attrition. This is what the ACLU does. People end up going along with them just to avoid lawsuits.
