Yesterday, I wrote about recent polling that indicates that the Democrats are doomed (at least for November). The party, and its supporters, must be sensing this as well. As the election grows closer, the “progressives are growing increasingly shrill and fanciful in its attacks on Conservatives, and in particular, the Tea Parties. Here is a rather, shall we say…interesting one, as described by the Daily Caller.
A liberal group is attacking the Tea Party movement with a new project called “F*CK Tea” to discredit the solutions offered by conservative activists. It is a three-tiered campaign that includes selling t-shirts and coffee mugs with the derogatory slogan on it.
The group’s founder, Erica Payne, said the effort is intentionally edgy.
“When you look at their world view, somebody has to say f—k that. That’s not the right direction to go at,” she said in an interview.
The effort, Payne said, is meant to make people “stop a minute, and really look at the ideas” of the Tea Parties. While she said she sympathizes with what has motivated many conservative activists, ”I just think their solutions are fundamentally are wrong.”
The project has been in the works for several weeks, she said, and the group first gave the “F*CK Tea” merchandise out at the liberal Netroots Nation conference in Las Vegas. They started promoting the project with the media this week.
The founder of this is Erica Payne; whose about page contains the following…
Most recently, Payne served as a senior strategist to the Roosevelt Institute to envision and build a new public policy think tank. Working with Nobel-prize winner Joseph Stiglitz, and other leading economists, Payne created a center for economic policy development including financial reform and envisioning a 21st century economy. In this role, Payne co-edited Make Markets Be Markets: Restoring the Integrity of the US Financial Markets and produced a major conference by the same name that included George Soros, Elizabeth Warren, Simon Johnson, Lynn Turner and other experts. (emphasis added)
The page indicated that much of her background is in marketing
You’d think she’d come up with something better, though I believe that her effort here is to create a meme. Given the polling data we discussed yesterday, she’ll only be preaching to the hard left, the choir, so to speak.
Given all of the efforts and resources being expended against the Tea Parties, I would think that they’re trying to induce “tea party fatigue” on the country. This did work against Bush, but it took years. Now, they have just a few weeks. That, and since the polling from the WSJ/NBC indicated that more people approve of the Tea Parties than do the Democratic Party, they might just push people to us.
Then, there was this most sad attempt at infiltration. Take a look at this from the Daily Caller.
Though Collins took to Kentucky’s Fancy Farms event with a political sign of bilingual TV star Dora the Explorer last weekend (“she’s illegal and she’s corrupting our children,” Collins told WHAS11 TV), Collins criticized Tea Party activists in a June column for displaying distasteful signs at political events.
“As Americans we should have respect for the office, and cropping pictures to make the president look like Hitler is doing our country a disservice,” he wrote.
The WHAS11 TV reporter who first interviewed Collins was noticeably skeptical at the time that Collins was a true Rand Paul supporter. Then, Dave Weigel at Slate posted a video after the event that showed Collins walking with supporters of Democratic nominee, Jack Conway.
Collins, who could not immediately be reached for comment, was identified in the story as a political science major at Murray State University.
Perhaps the university had the students reading Rules for Radicals? In which case, Collins has failed the course.
Here is the video.
Here is the other video from Slate.
Is there an award for “failing at infiltration,” if there isn’t there should be. Perhaps we should call it the “Tyler Collins award for infiltration failure.”
Anyway, we’re going to see more and more of this, and it will become increasingly transparent and bizarre. Just as with their policies, their response to failure is to do more and more of the same. They might be able to pull something big off, but at this point, they’ve so thoroughly discredited themselves, that it wil likely fail.
What do you do when your opponents are self destructing? Step out of the way, make some popcorn, and enjoy the show.

BUSTED! That was too funny! It shows the desperation of the Democrats that they would stoop to this level.
As for the F*ck Tea movement; here we go again, they just keep trying to counter us and degrade us but it is not working and it will not work. The attacks are getting more vile, as can be seen by the recent comments made by representatives about Sarah Palin here in New Hampshire. The deperation level is growing and the attacks are getiing dirtier.
The worse their situation becomes, the more shrill they become. Luckily, they have a limited play book, and they respond to failure by doing even more of what has failed. That plays right into our hands.
I hope I am wrong on my prediction of a less then stellar showing this november by the GOP.
Rasmussen shows that Democrats would currently emerge from Election Day with a 51-43 advantage. Six states remain Toss-Ups.
Of those tossup the GOP might win 3 or even 4 but the problem is that the Dems are still in control and the GOP has 4-5 RINOS that vote with the Democrats more often then the GOP and one of the pick ups is a known RINO that we are counting as a GOP. Which would give the GOP 5-6 RINOS in the Senate.
As for the house the democratic controlled government of the 2000 census insured more Democratic districts then previously. Clinton was elected because of Ross Perot. The people knew it and all those Perot supporters were anti clinton supporters, but Clinton was still the president. They rebelled at their stupidity in 1994 and threw out the Democrats but Clinton was still the president.
Now we see the Dems embarking on a strategy of voting for Tea partiers in primaries so that the Democrat can run against radical right candidates.
Yes while I sympathize with and agree with what most of the tea partiers believe…..they have been painted as far right, radicals with less political experience and campaign staffers who are even less qualified to run tough election campaigns.
I suspect that 2010 is not going to be quite as exciting as those on the right think it is.
Much as with the country and Bush vs Clinton with Perot siphoning off winning votes for Bush, so too are we going to see the same thing in 2010.
I continue to predict the house picks up 28 GOP seats and the senate picks up 4-5 Senators and we end up with the Dems still in charge and the 5 Rinos siding with the Democrats to pass legislation easily in 2011-2012.
If you are correct, the Republic is toast.
The demotards are self destructing, and we will give them enough rope. If that awful slogan is the best this “think tank” bimbo can come up with, they are pretty darn stupid and desperate.
Like you say, Matt, they are just preaching to the choir, and they will turn off anyone else who isn’t a deluded hard left nutjob.
Thanks Bunni.
