Redistribution of the logo, that is. I thought I wouldn’t have to cover “No Labels” again for a while. I thought that eventually, they would do something that flops, or have a highly partisan, “non-partisan” event, and we could all chuckle at their failure. However, they are WAAAAAY ahead of the curve. Apparently, all of their feed money (over $1,000,000) did not cover the creation of a logo. So, like any good lefty organization, they stole what they could not create on their own. Doug Powers at Michelle Malkin, has the details…
“No Labels” had their first conference yesterday, and Ben Smith from Politico noticed something similar — a distinct lack of Republicans (you’re not supposed to notice that, Ben, they’re not using labels). There were some GOPers in attendance, but mostly center-left Republicans who were swept from office by the Tea Party tsunami.
But forget about that for the time being, because one of the first problems “No Labels” is having is, ironically enough, their label — one of their logos specifically. “No Labels” has been accused of ripping off the design for their t-shirts, etc. from the “More Party Animals” logo by a New York graphic designer unaffiliated with “No Labels.”
A “No Labels” designer originally told Ben Smith that the two are “clip art coincidences”:
So, this grassroots movement, (started from the top-down, like all REAL grassroots movements-facepalm) stole a logo, and at first, said it was a coincidence? They did eventually issue an apology, but I would guess that was only because they were caught red-handed.
These folks ought to be gold mine for the sarcastic blogger, such as myself.
Thanks No Labels, I look forward to working “with” you!
Update: King Shamus has a post regarding the No Labels theme song. Also, The Other McCain skewers them in his typical fashion.

I think one of the purposes of these kinds of groups is to muddy the waters so you can’t tell the the legit from the frauds. Most people aren’t going to do the research to find the truth. The “supporters” in that Politico link are hardly moderate. Rejects, racists and closet leftists.
That would be correct. However, we will expose it. In the end, they may pick up more disaffected Democrats than anything else.
Oh the irony…
Ain’t it though?
Well, they are off to a great start, aren’t they?
I would say that it’s a “typical” start, given their background and true nature.
Are their “No Labels” made in China I wonder?
Wouldn’t surprise me a bit!
Matt, thank you very much for the linkage.
As for No Labels stealing their logo, that’s not that surprising. Their leader, Mike Bloomberg, hasn’t had an original idea since 1987.
I think even the idea back in 1987 is in dispute.
If we could only harness all the energy in the combined intellect of the Coffee Party and No Labels, we could, um… nevermind.
I think the word you are looking for is “inertia,” or “failure.”
[...] Trouble is, all of the members of this Elite Walking Miasma are mild Leftists. While certainly not as committed to the destruction of the institutions of America as are the Stealth Socialists, they believe in a slow transformation of this country into a permanent welfare state along the lines of what Bismark* envisioned – a kinder, gentler Progressivism, if you will. They have ‘accepted’ the inevitability of a big government with its Vishnu-like multiple hands reaching into every aspect of our lives. However, they want to see it managed with a light touch, but efficiently. Perhaps the Happy Face should be their symbol, instead of the one they stole. [...]
Recall when there were label on certain items which said “Do not remove label under penalty of law”? I can remember wondering just what would happen if I did so. Now I know.
Eh, the lefties don’t believe in the rule of law anyway, unless, that is, to oppress anyone who disagrees with them.
I firmly believe in “no labels”. So when I say these people are retards, understand I am not labeling them, I am suggesting they possibly, just might, could be, maybe acting like people with very low IQ’s.
If I was one of those evil conservatives, I would use a label and call them ass-spelunkers. But since I am not, damn, I’m confused…
I’ve got your back. As a Conservative, I hereby declare them “ass-spelunkers.”
This article begs the question -
Did Obama steal his logo from Pepsi, or did Pepsi steal their logo from the Anointed One?
That’s one of those paradoxical questions. Actually, if we ever figured it out, the universe would implode…or something like that.
