The GOP controlled House fulfilled one of their campaign promises yesterday, when they voted to repeal ObamaCare.  Of course, the GOP will face a major challenge in the Senate, and it is doomed to President Obama’s veto pen, but they are getting people to go on record with their votes, setting the stage for 2012.

I had anticipated that the  rhetoric of the left would be more filled with lies, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

New report: 129 million Americans with a pre-existing condition could be denied coverage without new health reform law

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today released a new analysis showing that, without the Affordable Care Act, up to 129 million non-elderly Americans who have some type of pre-existing health condition, like heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis or cancer, would be at risk of losing health insurance when they need it most, or be denied coverage altogether.  Under the full range of policies in the Affordable Care Act to be enacted by 2014, Americans living with pre-existing conditions are free from discrimination and can get the health coverage they need, and families are free from the worry of having their insurance cancelled or capped when a family member gets sick, or going broke because of the medical costs of an accident or disease.  Repealing the law would once again leave millions of Americans worrying about whether coverage will be there when they need it.

WHOAH THERE!!! Let’s take a step back and take a look at this, shall we? First off, one of the rationales for ObamaCare was that people were being denied coverage for pre-existing conditions, and approximately 47,000,000 people did not have coverage. Here is what I had to say about that last year…

At this time, they are using the artificial “crisis” of there being 47,000,000 uninsured Americans to justify this action.  However, the “crisis” really isn’t a crisis.  Here are some quotes regarding the “crisis.

However, the Census Bureau report “Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2005,” puts the initial number of uninsured people living in the country at 46.577 million.A closer look at that report reveals the Census data include 9.487 million people who are “not a citizen.” Subtracting the 10 million non-Americans, the number of uninsured Americans falls to roughly 37 million.

It is speculated that there are approximately 20,000,000 illegals in the US.  So they mean to say that 10,000,000 of them HAVE insurance?  If so, how many are receiving Medicaid?

But according to the same Census report, there are 8.3 million uninsured people who make between $50,000 and $74,999 per year and 8.74 million who make more than $75,000 a year. That’s roughly 17 million people who ought to be able to “afford” health insurance because they make substantially more than the median household income of $46,326.

Hmmm, perhaps people that do not CHOOSE to have health insurance.  BTW, that is to be illegal under the single payer plan, punishable by a $1000 fine, in fact!

The Census “underreported” the number of people covered by health insurance – meaning that more people have insurance than the report suggests. The Census also underreported the number of people covered by Medicare and Medicaid.Subtracting non-citizens and those who can afford their own insurance but choose not to purchase it, about 20 million people are left – less than 7 percent of the population.Dr. Grace-Marie Turner, a BMI adviser and president of the Galen Institute, agreed that “the number [on uninsured] is inflated and affects the debate.”Turner also pointed out that “45 percent of the uninsured are going to have insurance within four months [according to the Congressional Budget Office],” because many are transitioning between jobs and most people get health insurance through their employers.

So, there were uninsured people, but a really tiny amount of population. Then, how is it that these 129,000,000 million people HAD insurance WITH a pre-existing conditions? How was it that these people weren’t dying prior to ObamaCare?
Conclusion: They were lying then, or they are lying now? Actually, they were lying both times. But, that shouldn’t surprise us.

Sheila Jackson-Lee Jumps the Shark

Not a surprise…

Here is Rep Lee’s comments on the House floor today.

Her comments come at 1:34:35, per Hot Air.

I would advise Rep. Lee that by citing the Constitution, she is having a fetish, or is worshiping that document. After all, the “progressives” that helped pass ObamaCare didn’t care about the Constitution then, but now, they suddenly find that the founding documents have relevance? Funny how that works, isn’t it?

I’m thinking that if the left keeps this up, we’re going to have to make shark jumping an Olympic event.

Rep. Cohen Accuses GOP of “big lie.”

So much for civil discourse.

Heh, We spent so much time exposing the government takeover of Health Care, that this man is making a fool of himself in denying it.

As for the lovely Nazi references…

  • The Nazis expanded the pre-existing government controlled health care system in Germany.
  • The Nazis controlled all media.
  • The Nazis had gun control.

So Rep. Cohen, you agree with Hitler on the first. Where do you stand on net neutrality, the fairness doctrine, and gun control?

That’s what I thought Sparky.  Keep it up though.  You’re discrediting yourself, and we’ll be here to point that out.

The “progressive” propaganda and intimidation machine is just getting warmed up folks.  Rest assured that we’ll be here to chronicle it all.  Just remember that they are going to accuse the right of what they do themselves.  Their own accusations are an important key to understand what they are doing and planning,

MattI believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.

If Mr. Cohen doesn’t stop beating that podium, they are going to have to get a new one. ;)

Seriously though, this stuff is getting a bit old, with the right being accused of so many things and left getting a pass. Can you imagine what kind of shape we would be in if we had to depend on the mainstream media for the truth?

Depending on the political makeup of his district, he might find himself among the ranks of the unemployed in 2012.

Meanwhile the Rasmussen poll numbers for Zero are climbing. We must be doing something wrong with our messaging. The facts just are not getting out there. There needs to be a major ad campaign… there must be some capitalists out there yet, or are they so intimadated by Obama and his Czars?? Our own Soros type who loves America.. the only one I hear from is Trump at this point.

There are others, particularly the Koch bothers. They were vilified by the MSM a few months ago, while at the same time, they ignored Soros. I wouldn’t worry about the polls right now. They managed to spin the lame duck session well, and they’re trying to sell the centrist rhetoric that Obama has been trying for lately. Once the results continue to roll it, they folks will see reality.

I like “Reality Barrier.” Cool metaphor. It sounds like something out of an old Star Trek like the Tholian Web.

I did think of that after I wrote it. I was thinking more of the sound barrier before hand.

Wasn’t that a Star Trek episode? The reality barrier? It was on the edge of the universe and once they passed it one of Kirk’s friends turned into a dangerous god-like man with too much power.

I’m looking at you Barack Obama!

      Matt January 23, 2011 at 1:55 am

That was referred to as the “great barrier.” Not the most creative thing that Roddenberry ever came up with.

Bunkerville is right. We need to find away to set the record straight. Is there no way to get the true numbers into the hands of every Tea Party in the country. I’m just thinking out loud, sort of speak.

      Matt January 23, 2011 at 1:56 am

We’re still getting it out. Politics are always cyclical. I’m not worried right now.

  • MK January 20, 2011 at 8:52 pm

The republicans will have a big fight on their hands, but it’ll also be up to the American people to stand by them if they do what the people demanded at the last election.

No point demanding them to change course then punishing them for doing just that.

    • Matt
      Matt January 23, 2011 at 1:58 am

That is true. I’ve written before that people, myself included, would stop paying as much attention after election day. That is over, at least for me. We have to support them when they do the right thing, and remind them when they stray. The days of apathy have to end.

  • Maggie@MaggiesNotebook January 20, 2011 at 9:39 pm

Sheila Jackson Lee is a piece of work. Now that healthcare being constitutional under the Commerce Clause looks like it won’t pass SCOTUS muster, she thinks providing for the “general welfare” will do it. They are grasping at straws. We provide for the welfare of some, and steal from others to do it. That “welfare” is to be accomplished through a mandate? Incredible!

How friggin pathetic these libs are… They tick me off so bad.

How about we start calling the government health care law Nazicare instead of Obamacare? I think we can make the case that the Dems are going down a slippery slope, continuing to devalue life more and more, and one never knows how far down the tunnel the progressives intend to go?
