When we covered the Porkulus, we saw that districts that supported Obama in ’08 got the most funds. Of course, billions also went to zip codes and Congressional Districts that don’t exist, but that is another story. The accusation then, and now, is that Obama was using the treasury to repay his supporters. That is continuing with ObamaCare, when we look at where the waivers went. You see, ObamaCare sets standards for insurance plans that make carrying insurance more costly. In a response, the administration set up waivers to allow some to escape the standards. The results were predictable…
In the battle to dodge Obamacare’s costly requirements, Big Labor–one of President Obama’s biggest backers and a strong support of Mr. Obama’s healthcare overhaul–is winning. Big time.
As Paul Conner of the Daily Caller reports:
Documents released in a classic Friday afternoon news dump show that labor unions representing 543,812 workers received waivers from President Barack Obama‘s signature legislation since June 17, 2011.
By contrast, private employers with a total of 69,813 employees, many of whom work for small businesses, were granted waivers.
It seems that no matter what this administration does, it’s always set up to benefit a contributor or supporter. From GE’s “zero” tax bill in 2010, or big labor’s waivers, it seems that the administration is the ultimate crony capitalism machine.
