Senseless Tragedy: 27 Dead, Including 20 Children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School

Share

In an act of complete senselessness, a 20 year old man, identified as Adam Lanza, killed his teacher mother, and proceeded to the Sandy Hook Elementary School, where she worked, killing 20 children, and several staff, before apparently turning a gun on himself.  I first saw a report during my lunch break from Stacey McCain.

PREVIOUSLY (12:15 p.m. ET)

Shortly before 10 a.m. ET, there was an incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., about 12 miles from Danbury.

The early information indicates that the school’s principal was the target of the attack. It was initially reported that three people have been wounded or injured and one person, the suspected shooter, is dead. We have additional reports from ABC News and the Hartford Courant, but I emphasize that early reports on events like this can be often be confusing and/or inaccurate.

For a full roundup, here is some more from the Daily Mail…

The gunman who today slaughtered 26 people including 20 children used his teacher mother’s own guns to shoot students in her kindergarten class during his horrific killing spree at a Connecticut elementary school, it was revealed tonight.

Adam Lanza, 20, was carrying a .223 rifle and two handguns when he entered the Sandy Hook Elementary school shortly after 9.30am and started gunning people down – after he had killed his mother Nancy, 52, at her nearby home.

Witnesses say he was going from room-to-room shooting people after first killing the principal Dawn Hochsprung and psychologist execution-style in the main office.

Officials said most of the slaughter occurred in two classrooms, and one entire class is unaccounted for.

One witness told WCBS: ‘(Police) just told us everyone presumed missing is in the school and they are dead.’

I’m not going to politicize this, or make any commentary for this post.  Frankly, once I head about the full scope of the event, and I picked up my daughter, I had a hard time functioning.  I found myself thinking of the children that will never grow up, and their parents, who will always be reminded that their little ones are gone, and will never come home again.  Today is a day of sorrow and prayer-for all of those impacted by today’s tragedy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the children who lost a bit of their innocence today. May God be with them as they go through this period of turmoil.

I am unable to wrap my head around why anyone would commit such an act of senseless violence. Our grand babies were coming to our house last night and it made me hug them extra tight. May God be with the families of the victims and those who survived.

I can only imagine how horrible it must be for the parents who had to wait to find out if they children were still alive.

Pray for Newtown. In the midst of their horror and grief, they are going to become the Left’s favorite political crowbar. Damn the progressives for turning this atrocity into an excuse to push their hackish bullshit.

As more information seeps out, we are learning that Nancy Lanza might well have known that her son Adam was on the wrong road. His behavior was becoming more and more problematic:
