For the last few weeks some Democrats have been expressing their deep concerns about the implementation of ObamaCare. During a budget hearing that featured Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, one of the law’s chief architects Senator Max Baucus stated that he sees a huge train wreck coming in regards to implementation of ObamaCare. And the full impact of this train wreck will be felt by the midterm elections in 2014. Making matters much worse for the Democrats was a recent poll by Kaiser Family Foundation that revealed that 42 percent of Americans are unaware that ObamaCare is still the law of the land. The uninformed voter doesn’t even realize what is coming, but they soon will and this is making the Democrats very nervous. The same uninformed voters who helped many Democrats and the President get reelected this last election cycle are soon going to feel the full weight of ObamaCare and the Democrats know they’re not going to like it.
An example of just how nervous they’re getting can be found in the words of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Harry Reid during an interview this past Wednesday on “The Rusty Humphries Show” said he shared his colleagues’ concerns that the Affordable Care Act could become a “train wreck” if it’s not implemented properly. He told a caller on the show, “The president is taking money — I wish we had the money just to do this on its own, but he’s agreed, he’s determined he’s going to take money from some of the other things that he feels are less important in the healthcare bill and put it on letting you and others know what’s in the bill.”
Here’s where I see the Democrats taking this. They’re laying the groundwork the place the blame on the Republicans for this train wreck that’s coming. They know that the 42 percent who are unaware of Obamacare are going to turn against them when this train wreck happens. They also know they can’t blame the Republicans for passing or not funding the law because to the frustration of many conservative like myself Republicans have continued to fund ObamaCare. So they must change the narrative and there are plenty of blank pages in the minds of these uninformed voters to write a narrative that leads to Republicans not funding it enough. Look for that narrative to be pushed in the very near future.
The Democrats are indeed getting nervous about the implementation of ObamaCare, but they’re even more nervous about the coming reaction of the 42 percent. That reaction will have a huge impact on the 2014 midterm elections and the left knows it. We can’t allow them to change the narrative. They are responsible for this terrible law and they need to feel the weight of it and be held accountable come election day.
