Mark Halperin of Bloomberg showed his true colors in his over the top, racist interview of Ted Cruz

Hat/Tip to Doug Ross @ Journal and David Limbaugh at Right Wing News.

Cruz has that Reagan-esque quality to be unflappable when the Lefties in the MSM try to tear him down.

If you like arrogant, condescending, rude, insolent and patronizing Beltway journalism, you may appreciate Halperin’s performance. If you are a person of ordinary sensibilities, however, and not so intoxicated with the leftist worldview that you are incapable of dispassionately assessing the segment, you will have a different reaction.

What first struck me about the interview was not so much the objectively asinine questions Halperin asked but his obvious motive and attitude in asking them. Aside from a few throwaways, all of his questions were aimed at exposing Cruz as an inauthentic Hispanic. And as insulting as that is, there is something more noteworthy about it that some are missing in all the hubbub about the interview.

Halperin’s unstated premise underlying his questions is that one cannot have a bona fide Hispanic heritage if he doesn’t continue to bathe himself in the Hispanic culture and view American politics from a Hispanic prism. If you are ethnically Hispanic but have assimilated into American culture and embrace the American idea of government, you ought not be entitled to lay claim to your ethnicity or to receive support from the Hispanic community. Halperin and his liberal friends apply the same standards to assess African-American candidacies.

Cruz showed extraordinary class and restraint in fielding these boorish questions, but what was even more gratifying to me was that in his answers, he implicitly, though emphatically, rejected Halperin’s assumptions, making clear that though he is proud of his ethnicity and considers his Cuban-American father his hero, he is a full-blooded American, proud of the Constitution and the liberties it protects.

At every turn, Halperin was trying to discredit Cruz as a Hispanic by trying to trap him into revealing that he doesn’t qualify as a person who could attract Hispanic votes through identity politics, and at every turn, Cruz showed that he could do so indeed if he chose to; he chooses not to because he is about economic growth and opportunity for all Americans. He simply refuses to look at his candidacy as an opportunity to help any targeted groups, including Hispanics. This, my friends, was the takeaway from the interview, because in the end, it was about Cruz, not Halperin, who only confirmed that he’s a mini-flyweight charlatan of a reporter.

To experience the full effect of this embarrassing charade, you need to watch the video, but here are some excerpts of the questions and my summary of Cruz’s responses.

“What’s your appraisal of (Bernie Sanders’) candidacy, and can we hear your very good and very respectful imitation of Sen. Sanders?”

Cruz didn’t take the bait but did use the opportunity to make a trenchant point: Sanders gets props for his candor in admitting he’s a socialist. Hillary Clinton’s economic policies are very close to Sanders’, and it will be interesting to have her explain whether she agrees with policies he’ll describe as socialist and whether they would be good for this country. Bingo.

“Your last name is Cruz, and you’re from Texas. Just based on that, should you have appeal to Hispanic voters?”

Again, Cruz refused to fall into Halperin’s trap. He didn’t say, “Hey, I am really Hispanic.” He said he is proud he received 40 percent of the Hispanic vote in his U.S. Senate race in Texas because his personal story resonates with the Hispanic community. And it does so not because he speaks Spanish but because it is an inspiring story of a father who relied on his own personal fortitude to achieve the American dream in a land of opportunity. Cruz’s message to Hispanic voters is not “Vote for me because I’m one of you” but “Vote for me because I intend to restore the American dream and expand opportunities for all Americans, regardless of color — with policies that will allow you to unshackle yourselves from the burdensome and destructive policies of the Obama administration and will lead to your liberty and prosperity.”

After a few more questions shamelessly trying to flesh out Cruz as a fraud and a faux Hispanic (asking him to identify his favorite Cuban food, Cuban dish and Cuban singer), Halperin asked Cruz whether the Republicans could win a majority of the Hispanic vote — as if that were all that matters in a Cruz candidacy.

Cruz graciously ignored the utter offensiveness and shallowness of the question and asserted that President Obama’s policies have “hammered” the Hispanic community and other minorities. Cruz stressed that he is all about expanding growth, opportunity and jobs for everyone and promoting school choice as the civil rights issue of the 21st century because every child, regardless of race, deserves an opportunity for excellence in education. Just outstanding.

What Republicans should learn from this interview — and others — is that despite what they’re telling you, Democrats and liberals are genuinely afraid of Ted Cruz because he is a class act, poised and unflappably enthusiastic about the American dream and will pursue an agenda to reverse Obama’s “transformational changes” and restore opportunity for all Americans, irrespective of race, creed, color, ethnicity, gender or religion.

How splendidly refreshing — and exciting!

UPDATE: Halperin apologizes.

“…and then I said, ‘transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency’!!!!!!”

Hat/Tip to the Conservative Tribune.

But he did actually say that…….once…..long ago….

So how’s that “Hope and Change” workin’ out for you?

I didn’t think so, and the even the White House Press Corp isn’t buying it, either.

For far too long, the “most transparent administration ever” has kept the press at arm’s length, refusing to allow access to President Barack Obama and feeding the media select morsels to appease their appetite.

All of that may be coming to an end soon, or at least to a head, now that the White House Correspondent’s Association has grown tired of playing the Obama administration’s games.

In a rather bold move, the members of the White House Press Corps have drawn up a draft of demands for the administration, outlining several “principles and practices” they’d like to see regarding access to the White House.

First of all, the document calls for the president to hold a full press conference at least once per month, with a smaller Q & A session with the press once a week, along with more access to the president’s daily activities.

They are also requesting a “reasonable amount of video and still photo” pertaining to Obama’s leisure activities, specifically his many golf outings, but other things as well, such as vacations.

According to Breitbart, the Press Corps is also demanding more access to White House celebrations and events on the South Lawn, such as for various holiday and honorary events.

The Correspondent’s Association is also making it clear that they don’t view the White House’s incessant use of social media to be an adequate substitute for talking to the actual live media.

“White House social media accounts should not be used to circumvent the press corps,” the document reads. “Live-streams and other White House broadcasts are not a substitute for in-person coverage of an event.”

After some commentary and discussion about the draft takes place, the Correspondent’s Association will release a final draft of their demands to be officially delivered to the White House.

This is great, and is evidence that some in the media are finally waking up, albeit slowly and very late, to the utterly non-transparent secrecy surrounding this administration.

Hopefully, this great re-awakening of the media isn’t too late for them to start effectively doing their jobs, exposing the administration for the lawless and corrupt way they have run things for the past six years.

Rolling Stone to Retract Fake Rape Story, No Disciplinary Measures for Staff that Perpetrated Said Hoax

Share

H/T: Weasel Zippers

It seems that Rolling Stone, months after holes (big enough to drive a truck through) were poked through the alleged rape case that was said to have occurred at the University of Virginia.

Via Yahoo news

The author of Rolling Stone’s discredited “A Rape on Campus” story, Sabrina Rubin Erderly, will apologize Sunday in conjunction with the release of the Columbia Journalism School’s external review of the erroneous story, according to media reports.

Rolling Stone will also pull the story from its site and put Columbia’s review in its place, Brian Stelter reported Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.” The decision to take the story down is a fairly unprecedented step in the digital media era.

The reportedly 12,000-word review is expected to be a damning piece that places fault in all corners of Rolling Stone for errors made in the reporting and storytelling process for the campus rape story, published in November. Rolling Stone will also be taking responsibility for its errors, Stelter reported.

The review will be authored by Columbia Journalism School Dean Steve Coll. It is expected to be published on the Columbia Journalism Review’s website as well as on Rolling Stone’s site.

In March, police in Charlottesvile, Virgina issued their investigation’s findings, saying they found no evidence a rape occurred at the University of Virginia on the night in question in 2012.

Of course, there will be no disciplinary action taken in this case.

Via CNN

Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner has decided not to take any disciplinary action against the editors or fact-checkers involved in the discredited story “A Rape on Campus.”

This means no one will be dismissed or suspended as a result of the error-filled story, according to people with direct knowledge of the decision.

Wenner believes the missteps by the magazine’s staff members — from managing editor Will Dana on down — were unintentional, not purposefully deceitful.

After all, the truth wasn’t a goal in writing this story.  The goal was advancing a narrative.  The only actual issue for Rolling Stone, in my opinion, is that they were caught.

Lefty media death spiral update: Fox News outdraws MSNBC and CNN combined

Share

Losing_share

Will MSNBC’s last viewer please change the channel?

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for MSNBC, along came the quarterly ratings reports.

In both daytime and prime time, MSNBC endured its lowest quarterly demo numbers in a decade, and its total viewership since the final quarter of 2007. Prime-time viewership was down 45 percent in the demo from the first quarter of 2014, while daytime viewership was down 39 percent in the demo.

Between the hours of 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, for instance, more people were watching Al Jazeera America than MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Thomas Roberts and “The Cycle.”

Bwhahahahahahaha!

Sucking up to terrorists and libtards is not a winning strategy.

The Big Kahuna in the ratings war? Fox News! For the 53rd consecutive quarter.

With its 53rd consecutive quarter total audience win, Fox News Channel saw a 10% primetime rise among adults 25-54 in first-quarter 2015 over last year. In fact, with 321,000 on average among the 25-54s in primetime, Fox News thrashed rivals CNN (187,000) and MSNBC (132,000) with more news demo viewers than the other two combined, according to Nielsen.

In fact, Fox News had the five top watched and rated shows on cable news for the quarter. Again. Leading the pack? Bill O’Reilly. Meanwhile, Rachel Madcow fell to 26th place, behind reruns of Bill O’Reilly.

Ouch.

Their own families don’t watch MSNBC.

At some point the poobahs at Comcast will have to put profits ahead of ideology. At least I think they will. Who knows? They’re obviously in the tank for the Hilldebeest, and if she wins, running MSNBC at a loss is probably cheaper than writing checks to the Clinton Foundation.

Still, it warms my heart to see the looney lefties down for the count. Their shrillness echoes so loudly because there are so few of them to absorb it, not because their message is powerful or noteworthy.

If a cable news network bloviates in the forest, and there’s no one around to hear it, does it even matter anymore?

Eureka! Univision Discovers Cruz Has Latino Support

Share

UNIVISION LOGO

Hat/Tip to Ken Oliver-Méndez at NewsBusters.

Don’t let MSNBC know about this. Oh wait. They’d just edit it out…

Lo and behold, there are Latinos who support Senator Ted Cruz’s candidacy for President of the United States. That was the discovery Univision made while covering the Texas Senator’s presidential campaign announcement at Liberty University. Reporting for Noticiero Univisión, correspondent Lourdes Meluzá noted that among others, Cruz aims to capture the support of Evangelical voters, including among the young. Meluzá encountered two such prospective voters of Latino origin, both of whom were enthusiastic at the prospect of a Cruz presidency.

The first young Latino supporter featured in the report was Daniel Solórzano, who said of Cruz “the principal thing is that his values are Christian, that is what impacts me.” Solórzano added that he’s in the process of becoming an American citizen, and concluded of Cruz “I believe my vote will be for him.”

The second Latino student featured in the story, Liberty University student Stephen Hoagland, heaped praise upon a part of Cruz’s speech in which the Senator affirmed his positive view of immigration.

“Imagine a legal immigration system that welcomes and celebrates those who come to achieve the American dream,” Cruz declared to enthusiastic applause.

Univision did catch up with Senator Cruz’s father, Cuban immigrant Rafael Cruz, who beamed with pride about his son’s candidacy to become the leader of the free world.

The elder Cruz said he is “incredibly proud of the promise of America, of the United States. The United States is the bastion of liberty in the world.”

The English-language version of the cited excerpts from Noticiero Univisión are below.

DANIEL SOLÓRZANO: The principal thing is that his values are Christian, that is what impacts me and I, well I am about to start my citizenship process, so I believe my vote will be for him.

STEPHAN HOAGLAND: Now that he has said that he will try to make it easier, all those steps, and try to help people who want to immigrate to the United States, I believe that is a very good thing

REV. RAFAEL CRUZ: Incredibly proud of the promise of America, of the United States. The United States is the bastion of liberty in the world.

Former NBC Reporter: Journalists Have Taken Sides, Political Coverage Has All The Depth Of Twitter

Lisa Meyers, formally of NBC says news takes sides now, rather than report the truth

Hat/Tip to Newsmax.

Another one has left the fold…

Former NBC reporter Lisa Meyers tells The Des Moines Register the quality of television journalism is going downhill and that reporters have picked sides.

Meyers is scheduled to give a talk in Des Moines on Thursday, and told the Register, “I am going to talk about the deterioration in the quality of journalism you see on TV. There is less and less interest in network television today holding the White House or any other part of government accountable.”

Meyers said she believes newscasts are catering to an audience thought to care less about serious news.

“I think most of the political coverage these days has all the depth of Twitter,” she said.

“I also worry that journalists today appear to have chosen sides when it comes to political coverage,” Meyers added. “I think you see that in the sagging approval numbers of TV news over the last few years.”

Viewers question whether they are getting straight news or political bias, she said.

Newscasts have added celebrity news and feel-good stories, which Meyers said have a legitimate place. But she said they should not take the place of in-depth stories or investigations.

Class Act: David Axelrod Goes On Fox News To Sell His Book, Then Goes On ABC To Bash Fox News

Share

david the red axelrod

Hat/Tip to Newsmax and Politico.

Ah the impeccable scruples of the left…

Sure! I’d be glad to go onto YOUR network so that I could sell some of MY books!! Then, after you’ve treated me fairly, I’ll go on a “friendly” network and trash YOUR network so I don’t look so bad to all the other “scrupulous” lefties out there that are just like me.

Class act all the way, Axe.

/sarcasm off

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly called Democratic political adviser David Axelrod “two-faced” for using O’Reilly’s show to sell his new book, then insulting Fox News Channel soon afterward.

In O’Reilly’s opening segment on Monday’s “O’Reilly Factor,”  he took on politicians, pundits and left-of-center media who trash Fox News. He said the motivation is simple: Fox News is a threat because it has become the top-rated source of cable news and sets the political agenda.

Knowing that Fox will bring in the most viewers, Axelrod, who has worked for Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, asked O’Reilly to give him the first cable interview about his new book, “Believer: My Forty Years in Politics,” O’Reilly said.

“I told him, sure. We would have a lively, respectful discussion, which we did on February 9th,” O’Reilly said. “Then, to show his gratitude, Axelrod begins trashing Fox News, saying we are not a real news organization.  That was a mistake.”

Seems good old Axe couldn’t help himself when he left Fox News’ HQ and went over to ABC’s Sunday morning talk show, “This Week.” He just HAD to bash Fox, I mean he’d went to the “enemy camp;” he’d crossed over to the other side; he had literally given credence to the enemy by his very presence on their Network, and he HAD to fix that.

White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Sunday that the Fox News Channel is “not really a news station” and that much of the programming is “not really news.”

“I’m not concerned,” Axelrod said on ABC’s “This Week” when George Stephanopoulos asked about the back-and-forth between the White House and Fox News.

“Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch has a talent for making money, and I understand that their programming is geared toward making money. The only argument [White House communications director] Anita [Dunn] was making is that they’re not really a news station if you watch even — it’s not just their commentators, but a lot of their news programming.

“It’s really not news — it’s pushing a point of view. And the bigger thing is that other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way, and we’re not going to treat them that way. We’re going to appear on their shows. We’re going to participate but understanding that they represent a point of view.”

So “they” will appear on Fox News, on their shows; “they” are going to participate, and then run across town to the safe haven of a CNN or ABC or MSNBC and tell people how “bad” Fox News is.

I will be the first to say that Fox doesn’t always represent us out here in “fly-over” country, but they do, at least give a stage to opposing points of view and they don’t try and pretend that their evening shows are news, unlike MSNBC or CNN do.

CNN: Belief In American Exceptionalism Makes Us “Dumb”…

Share

Obama Dunce Cap

Hat/Tip to WeaselZippers.

This article begs the question, “Can CNN get any dumber?”

Talk of American exceptionalism has become headline news, with loud sputtering from Rudy Giuliani, who suggested that President Barack Obama doesn’t love America in the same way that the rest of us do. Giuliani wants to dwell on our exceptionalism — the idea that we’re different from other countries, and much better.

It’s an old idea that Obama took on in the second year of his presidency, when he said: “I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.”

That comment annoyed those who wished him to say: “America is the best country in the world, bar none!”

Somehow the drumbeat for exceptionalism continues. This month, Oklahoma politician Dan Fisher introduced a bill that tried to ban Advanced Placement history classes in his state because the guidelines for teachers didn’t talk explicitly about American exceptionalism. The bill passed the House Education Committee in his state by a 11-4 vote but has since been pulled back for a rewrite, the Tulsa World reported last week. […]

Obama loves the United States, and he upholds its values proudly. He speaks about its history in clear, rational terms, without pumping up the good side or trying to erase the darker sides.

We should never forget that Americans continue to advocate for individual liberty, equality and self-governance. We often step in when it’s necessary to help countries in need. But our history needs no whitewashing. To attempt this does us a terrible disservice.

American politicians who dwell on American exceptionalism only dishonor us by suggesting we play dumb to our past.

The Next Round In “CNN Wants To Become MSNBC”: Don’t Bomb ISIS Because They “Want Us To”

Share

sally kohn

Hat/Tip to Jarred Stone at WeaselZippers.

Yes, you read that right. The cowardly terrorists which make up the ISIS ranks really WANT us to come and bomb them to smithereens! They NEED it because, well….er….honestly, you’ll have to ask CNN’s Sally Kohn because I’m too much of a Conservative to delve down to the depths of stupidity to properly answer that question.

But no worries, Ms. Kohn is CNN’s resident expert on ISIS and why they want, nay NEED us to bomb them.

/facepalm

One of the self-described “leading progressive voices in America,” CNN commentator and DailyBeast columnist Sally Kohn, thinks we shouldn’t bomb ISIS because “that’s the exact reaction ISIS wants”—and, besides, the Bible tells us not to.

Kohn laid out her reasons not to respond to ISIS via airstrike Monday morning in an online exchange with Townhall editor Katie Pavlich (who took a jab at President Obama the night before by tweeting, “At this point, Christians being exterminated in Middle East & Africa could use some Crusaders to beat back the scourge of Islamic extremism”).

Here’s the exchange:

Kohn: So that means bombs, huh? RT @PoliticsofJon: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” – Romans 12:21

Pavlich: Yes @sallykohn, bombing terrorists who behead and burn people alive is good.

Kohn: @KatiePavlich and what do you do with the obvious fact that that’s the exact reaction ISIS wants — that we’re taking their bait?

Pavlich: ISIS *wants* to be bombed? Interesting @sallykohn

NY Post: Brian Williams Could Be Fired Under ‘Morals’ Clause In Contract

Share

 photo brian-williams_zps39f54443.jpg
You can’t print these lies about me on the internet! For God sakes man! I helped Al Gore INVENT the internet!

Hat/Tip to Drew MacKenzie at Newsmax.

Even though he’s been shot down in not one but TWO helicopters, even though he saw one of his “sisters and brothers” float by in the French Quarter after Katrina, even though he got dysentery from flood waters of Katrina, even though he was pinned down in a 5 star hotel by roving gangs and saved by a police officer that he is friends with to this day, even though he “flew into Baghdad with SEAL Team 6,” even though he was at the Brandenburg Gate the night the Berlin Wall came down and even though he witnessed a suicide in the Super Dome, Brian Williams could be fired by NBC.

I know, right?

Hard to imagine, but it’s true.

Suspended NBC News anchor Brian Williams has a “morality clause” in his contract that means he could be fired by the TV news organization, according to the New York Post.

Williams was given a six-month unpaid suspension after it was revealed that he lied during a news show, and at other times, about his helicopter being shot down during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He later admitted during a news broadcast that he had “conflated” his account.

The morality clause says Williams faces the ax if he offended “a significant portion of the community” or brought himself “public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule.”

NBC executives, including Stephen Burke and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, will make a decision on whether Williams breached the rule, sources tell the Post, which noted that a “public morals” clause appears in NBC News employees’ contract that includes a dismissal warning.

The actual wording of Williams’ contract with NBC that deals with this area, in other words, “the moral clause” reads like this:

“If artist commits any act or becomes involved in any situation, or occurrence, which brings artist into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule, or which justifiably shocks, insults or offends a significant portion of the community, or if publicity is given to any such conduct … company shall have the right to terminate.”

Top Military Brass Demand NBC Apologize On-Air For Calling Chris Kyle A “Racist” Who Went On “Killing Sprees”

Share

 photo MorningJoe-Sniper-06_00_24AM_zpsdcd45a92.jpg

Hat/Tip to Paul Bedard at The Washington Examiner.

Back in January we covered the story of how once again, NBC has lowered it’s standards and allowed one of their employees to levy charges of racism and serial murder on one of America’s finest, that of Navy SEAL Sniper, Chris Kyle.

MSNBC Does It Again: Reporter Calls Chris Kyle “Racist” Who Went On “Killing Sprees”

In that article, we reported that Middle East field reporter, Ayman Mohyeldin said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program that Chris Kyle was a “racist” that went on “killing sprees.”

It has come to light that Mr. Mohyeldin’s own views of American soldiers and sailors may have been tinged a tad bit on the, shall we say “racist” side because of where he worked before coming to NBC?

Yes, it seems that Mr. Mohyeldin worked for Al Jazeera TV, so it is small wonder that he would call what a sniper does to protect American, Iraqi and Afghanistan lives, “killing sprees” performed by a “racist.”

Now, in the wake of the “Lyin'” Brian Williams scandal, top military brass has had enough and they’ve banded together and sent a letter to NBC, demanding an apology.

Already under fire from Iraq War veterans for making up events, NBC is taking new flak today from former military brass over a correspondent’s claim that sniper hero Chris Kyle was a “racist” on “killing sprees” while protecting troops in Iraq.

Some 22 retired generals and admirals, including a former deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence, joined with dozens of other officers and the press watchdog Media Research Center in a letter to demand an apology from NBC parent Comcast after the network refused to acknowledge the comments.

Kyle, the subject of the hit movie “American Sniper,” said a letter to Comcast provided to Secrets, “is a hero, not a talking point for a smug journalist.”

As a reminder of what Mohyeldin said…

The comment came from Middle East reporter Ayman Mohyeldin January 29 on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program. Ayman, formerly with Al Jazeera, said of Kyle:

“Some of what people have described as his racist tendencies towards Iraqis and Muslims when he was going on some of these, you know, killing sprees in Iraq on assignment.”

Mohyeldin’s comments seemed to bother “Morning Joe” host, Joe Scarborough who made a lame (at best) defense of Kyle. However Conservative Hideout 2.0 has got to hand it to NBC’s Willie Geist for putting Mohyeldin in his place by pushing back with the truth about who Kyle referred to as savages and that what he was doing was saving American lives, not going on killing sprees.

The letter by military brass to NBC demanding an on-air apology about this says, in part:

“Mohyeldin’s statements were an inexcusable slap in the face to the widow of Chris Kyle and to all those in the armed forces who continue to serve our country in harm’s way. Such rants do not add anything to a thoughtful discussion of public policy regarding Iraq.”

NBC seems to still be reeling over the whole “Lyin'” Brian Williams debacle and as such, the patience of the military is wearing thin on this. This has prompted them to go to NBC’s owners, Comcast.

“We understand that as members of the board of Comcast, the parent company of NBC, you may not be privy to how NBC News responds to such situations. However, your stockholders, advertisers, NBC News viewers, and the public have a right to know: Is it the policy of NBC News to allow its own reporters to make inaccurate and insulting editorial comments on its airwaves, aimed at our soldiers who gave their lives for their country? Is it the policy of NBC News to ignore the scandal and hope it goes away?” asked the letter.

“NBC News’ continued refusal to acknowledge and apologize for Mohyeldin’s malicious remarks about Chris Kyle is as disappointing as it is shocking. Chris Kyle’s family, veterans everywhere, and the public at large deserve from NBC News a strong, unequivocal public statement condemning Mohyeldin’s vile hate speech,” added the letter.

Once again, here is the video of the “Morning Joe” show in which the former Al Jazeera reporter slanders the legacy of American Hero, Chris Kyle.

NBC Just Sunk Lower: Brian Williams Admits He’s Lied For 12 Years About Being Fired Upon In Iraq

Share

 photo brian-williams_zps39f54443.jpg

Hat/Tip to BFH at IOTWReport.com.

My how the once proud peacock, NBC has fallen since joining forces with MSNBC. The mediocrity and political desperation of MSNBC seems to have rubbed off onto their Mother station…

Dbag Brian Williams Commits Stolen Valor

I think it’s valid to call this stolen valor because there is a long tradition of the press risking their lives in war theaters. Brian Williams has overstated, much like the liar Hillary Clinton, that a helicopter he was in was in imminent danger, saying that it was struck by an RPG and forced down. No such thing ever happened to a helicopter he was on.

Stars and Stripes  — NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams admitted Wednesday he was not aboard a helicopter hit and forced down by RPG fire during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a false claim that has been repeated by the network for years.

Williams repeated the claim Friday during NBC’s coverage of a public tribute at a New York Rangers hockey game for a retired soldier that had provided ground security for the grounded helicopters, a game to which Williams accompanied him. In an interview with Stars and Stripes, he said he had misremembered the events and was sorry.

“I would not have chosen to make this mistake,” Williams said. “I don’t know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another.”

Williams told his Nightly News audience that the erroneous claim was part of a “bungled attempt” to thank soldiers who helped protect him in Iraq in 2003. “I made a mistake in recalling the events of 12 years ago,” Williams said. “I want to apologize.”

MSNBC Does It Again: Reporter Calls Chris Kyle “Racist” Who Went On “Killing Sprees”

Share

msnbc 002

Hat/Tip to John Nolte at Breitbart.com.

The same network who brought you, on Memorial Day weekend, Chris Hayes saying he was troubled by the term “fallen heroes” when speaking about US military personnel killed in the line of duty.

Now we’ve got a reporter named Ayman Mohyeldin who decided to take it upon himself to label Chris Kyle a racist who, instead of serving his country, went on “killing sprees.”

Editor’s Note: What a tool.

Ayman Mohyeldin

Transcript via Newsbusters:

MOHYELDIN: A lot of his stories when he was back home in Texas, a lot of his own personal opinions about what he was doing in Iraq, how he viewed Iraqis. Some of what people have described as his racist tendencies towards Iraqis and Muslims when he was going on some of these, you know, killing sprees in Iraq on assignment. So I think there are issues –

SCARBOROUGH: Wait, wait. Killing sprees? Chris Kyle was going on killing sprees?

MOHYELDIN: When he was involved in his — on assignments in terms of what he was doing. A lot of the description that has come out from his book and some of the terminology that he has used, people have described as racist. . . .

GEIST: It wasn’t a commentary about the war. It wasn’t about the politics of the war. It was a character study of what this guy went through. And you don’t have to like him and all the comments about him calling Iraqis savages. He was calling the people he was shooting savages. He was calling people who he thought had IEDs, who he thought were going to kill his buddies savages. He didn’t — some people have seized on that term that he thought all Iraqis or everyone in the Middle East is a savage. That’s just not what he said. It’s not what he said. He was talking about the people he was fighting in the theater, calling them savages.

SCARBOROUGH: All right, when we come back, Ayman is going to kick around Santa Claus.

Sharyl Attkisson rose to fame, in the journalist’s world, anyway, as a tough-as-nails, call it down the middle, let the story lead her to the truth, Investigative Journalist.

She’s done stories on government and its various administrations – both Democrat AND Republican throughout her entire 30+ year career. And the left was fine with that, when it was the GOP she was digging dirt up on, but since 2008, the push back by the thin-skinned Obama administration and their sycophants in the Main Stream Media shows they’ve no tolerance for any such reporting.

Attkisson has since left CBS news and has written a tell-all book about how the Obama Administration has attempted to thwart her reporting on stories they didn’t like.

Recently, she testified in front of the Senate during the latest Attorney General nomination hearings about how Eric Holder’s Justice Department violated the 1st Amendment by trying to stifle her reporting.

The Justice Department bullies and threatens investigative journalists for doing their jobs, former CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson testified Thursday during confirmation hearings for Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch, urging her to change matters if she is confirmed.

“They bully and threaten the access of journalists who do their jobs, news organizations that publish stories they don’t like, and whistleblowers who dare to tell the truth,” said Attkisson, one of several journalists who have accused the DOJ of spying on them, reports The Hill.

Once she left CBS, she filed a lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department.

After she left CBS last year, Attkisson filed a $35 million lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder over allegations that his department spied on her and others who were investigating Operation Fast and Furious, the DOJ’s failed guns sales scheme that resulted in Mexican drug cartels obtaining weapons.

Attkisson said Thursday that her investigation of the Fast and Furious project upset Obama administration officials, who pushed her superiors at CBS to stop her story, and that the DOJ kept her from briefings on the matter.

“Government officials weren’t angry because I was doing my job poorly,” Attkisson said. “They were panicked because I was doing my job well.”

Attkisson maintains that the purpose of her lawsuit is to stop this from happening to other journalists.

She said it wasn’t until later that she learned through three independent forensic examinations that the government was spying on her remotely by monitoring her computer keystrokes, capturing passwords, and eavesdropping on her conversations.

“If you cross this administration with perfectly accurate reporting they don’t like, you will be attacked and punished,” Attkisson said. “You and your sources may be subjected to the kind of a surveillance devised for enemies of the state.”

Earlier this month, Attkisson told Newsmax TV that she will get “facts and information” that was deliberately withheld by the government through her lawsuit.

“The purpose of the lawsuit isn’t to stop harassment,” Attkisson told Newsmax’s Ed Berliner, but to “shed light on what happened, so that when some computers are illegally intruded upon — especially a journalist whose work and whose sources are compromised — it should be [considered] very serious things, no matter where you stand.”

MSNBC Plays The Race Card Again, This Time On Bobby Jindal

Unreal what MSNBC can get away with.

Via Free Beacon:

Lean forward? MSNBC upped the ante in their quest to attack Republicans on Monday when a guest made a racially charged attack on Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal on Monday.

Governor Jindal is in London this week where he is addressing the Henry Jackson Society. Governor Jindal publicly denounced “no-go zones.”

MSNBC’s Alex Wagner had Arsalan Iftikhar, founder of TheMuslimGuy.com, on to discuss Governor Jindal’s comments.

“I think Governor Jindal is protesting a bit too much. He might be trying to scrub some of the brown off his skin as he runs to the right in a presidential bid,” said Iftikhar.

Since Dispute With Fox, Dish Network Has Lost 90,000 Subscribers

File this one under, “Underestimating Your Customers’ Wishes”.

Dish Network is bleeding customers right and left since deciding to stop carrying the Fox News Channel.

Thousands of TV viewers have proven they’re more loyal to Fox News than to the Dish network, following a dispute between the TV provider and political news channel. Since Dish removed Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network on Dec. 20, the provider has lost about 90,000 subscribers.

What began as a contract dispute, is turning out to be quite harmful to Dish Network.

Dish CEO Charlie Ergen in a Christmas Eve video on Dishstandsforyou.com said the parties were nearing a deal, even though Fox News was looking for an increase doubling its rate – a hike he said was somewhat justified given its leadership status in the space. He said the talks, broke down when Fox introduced a third network into the conversation, for which it was eyeing a “surcharge” that would have trebled the cost for a service that was not scheduled to expire “for some time.” Ergen didn’t identify the service.

Besides the nearly 100,000 Dish subscribers who left, there are a whopping 350,000 that have told Dish how unhappy they are and are looking for other sources for Fox News.

One thing is for sure, though. In the long run this will help Fox and hurt Dish. Of course the massive lost revenue hurts Dish, but having so many Fox News viewers being forced to watch CNN or MSNBC is a real eye opener. The Far Left slant on those two networks is being hammered into the consciousness of TV news viewers, which will naturally make them seek ways to find Fox.

So, what is life like without Fox News? Greg Scandlen at The Federalist says being forced to find other news outlets has opened his eyes to just how biased the competition really is:

Both MSNBC and CNN are far more one-sided than I ever realized. Other than “Morning Joe,” they simply do not allow dissenting voices on their daytime programming. Anytime there is a story that needs a political comment, CNN will have a single has-been Democrat member of Congress. When MSNBC wants a variety of viewpoints, they will range from the Huffington Post on the Right to Mother Jones on the Left. Nobody ever disagrees with one another on these shows. It is really extraordinary.

Irrational Exuberance In Action: The 5% GDP Growth Number Is A Total Fraud

Share

 photo gdpcoins_zpsdaa1dea3.jpg

Look! Just in time for Christmas! That Obama guy finally got our economy back on track! Now get out there and spend, spend, spend!

At least that’s what the media wants you to believe.

The U.S. economy roared into overdrive in the third quarter as consumer and business spending fueled the biggest expansion in more than a decade.

Gross domestic product grew at a 5 percent annual rate from July through September, the biggest advance since the third quarter of 2003 and up from a previously estimated 3.9 percent, revised figures from the Commerce Department showed today in Washington. The median forecast of 75 economists surveyed by Bloomberg projected a 4.3 percent increase in GDP.

Sounds amazing, right?

It’s also too good to be true. But journalists aren’t known for their economic prowess. And they’re fully invested in “proving” Obama’s success.

So here’s the dirty little secret they aren’t telling you.

The Commerce Department fudged the numbers by inserting the entire year’s worth of ObamaCare spending into 3rd quarter GDP. Presto! Instant 5% growth!

Back in June, when we were looking at the final Q1 GDP print, we discovered something very surprising: after the BEA had first reported that absent for ObamaCare, Q1 GDP would have been negative in its first Q1 GDP report, subsequent GDP prints imploded as a result of what is now believed to be the polar vortex. But the real surprise was that the ObamaCare boost was, in the final print, revised massively lower to actually reduce GDP!

In layman’s terms, they initially put ObamaCare in to make Q1 look less bad, then took it out when nobody was looking after they decided to blame their woes on the “polar vortex.”

Fast forward 6 months, and with a small uptick in actual consumer spending (probably due to those falling oil prices, for which, btw, Obama can’t claim even one iota of credit), it’s time to reinsert the ObamaCare factor to really pump up the numbers.

Here’s Tyler Durden’s handy chart showing the Q3 GDP breakdown:

As you can see, without ObamaCare the consumer spending numbers would still be abysmal.

In short, two-thirds of the “boost” to final Q3 personal consumption came from, drumroll, the same ObamaCare which initially was supposed to boost Q1 GDP until the “polar vortex” crashed the number so badly, the BEA decided to pull it completely and leave this “growth dry powder” for another quarter. That quarter was Q3.

Our economy “grew” because the government forced 9 million people to buy health insurance.

What are they going to do for an encore? Force 9 million people to buy a car from Government Motors?

Because otherwise, the stock market rally that’s going on right now is the very definition of Irrational Exuberance.

Oh well. As the saying goes, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Well MSNBC We’ve Got Good News And Bad News…

The Good News?

Megyn Kelly and Fox News will be having a very happy Christmas.

The Bad News?

MSNBC has now been viewed by fewer people than airport radar and sonograms. – Source

Even CNN is doing better than MSNBC.

It was just revealed that the liberal MSNBC network is facing dismal ratings, and not even the recent midterm election coverage could give it a necessary boost.

According to Accuracy in Media, viewership of the leftist channel is down 13% from last year to November 2014.

The low numbers mean that MSNBC is now trailing behind CNN, which has struggled with ratings problems itself.

This is really just more proof that the age of Obama-Mania is over.

After the 2012 Presidential election, MSNBC’s ratings were looking hopeful, and network President Phil Griffin even predicted that 2014 would be the year that his channel beat Fox News.

Instead, the troubled network has only fallen more behind.

The overall numbers show a dramatic difference between Fox and the rest of the field. An industry report by Mediaiteshowed that Fox News had over 2.3 million total prime-time viewers during November.

In comparison, MSNBC only had 662 million total viewers. That’s less than one-third of Fox News’ audience.

Despite its countless critics, Fox News is the undisputed leader in the news ratings. That domination was improved by the very strong Republican takeover during the 2014 midterm election. Conservative viewers typically prefer Fox, while liberals associate with MSNBC.

And Megyn Kelly is really coming into her own as the titular head of Fox News, and is beginning to eclipse Bill O’Reilly.

The feisty Fox anchor was ranked in first place for her demographic. That makes November the first time that Kelly beat her friendly rival Bill O’Reilly, who also appears on Fox.
