It’s not news to anyone who isn’t sleeping 24/7 that President Barack Obama has little regard for the constitution, court orders, or laws of the land. It’s also not news that this president uses Executive Orders (EO) to bypass Congress and do whatever he pleases. Here, however, are two things that may be news to you.

1.White House guts the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) in 2009

Don’t feel bad if you weren’t aware of this. The White House didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. It only came to light when Cause of Action, a watch dog group that monitors government transparency and accountability, got a hold of an April 15, 2009, memo from then-White House Counsel Greg Craig instructing the executive branch to let White House officials review any documents sought by FOIA requestors that involved “White House equities”.

What are “White House equities”? That’s a good question. Mr. Craig did not to define the term and you won’t find the term anywhere in the Freedom Of Information Act. As it turns out, a “White House equity” is anything of interest to the White House, which means all documents requested under FOIA must first go to the White House for review and redacting. Bruce McQuain of Questions and Observations writes:

What this effectively does is stop federal agencies from answering FOIA requests which might include “White House equities” within the 20 days required by law.  There is no apparent limit to the review time the White House can take with its “review” of such requests.  Since the White House gets to decide what are “White House equities” and how long it will take to review requests which include them, the change effectively neuters the intent of the FOIA law.  This gives the White House the ability to delay release of such information until it is politically beneficial for them to do so (or, in reality, not at all):

The Washington Examiner chimes in with this:

The equities exception is breathtaking in its breadth. As the Greg memo put it, any document request is covered, including “congressional committee requests, GAO requests, judicial subpoenas and FOIA requests.”

And it doesn’t matter what format the documents happen to be in because, according to Greg, the equities exception “applies to all documents and records, whether in oral, paper, or electronic form, that relate to communications to and from the White House, including preparations for such communications.”

So much for the Freedom of Information Act. So much for the most transparent administration ever! With the stroke of a White House pen, our rights under FOIA were nullified.

2. Obama usurps  the power of the UN Security Council

I’m serious! How else do you explain the President’s most recent EO placing sanctions on eleven Russian citizens because they may have some how, some way had something to do with the people of Crimea voting to become part of Russia? Did the people of Crimea break some US  law? Did Russian President Putin break some US law for accepting to take in the Crimea? Do the actions of the people of Crimea and Putin pose an  imminent threat to the security of the United States? By what US law did President Obama justify this EO? Aren’t these kinds of sanctions usually authorized by the UN Security Council?

My good friend, 5etester, has a must read post up at his Spellchek blog on this latest Executive Branch overreach. He includes all of the pertinent sections of Mr. Obama’s EO titled  ”Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Ukraine”. Please take time to read it. For now let me share with you a couple of excerpts.

Of course, all of this legalese wordsmithing had to come about because our President has no legal authority to seize private property from foreigners. Fact is, you won’t find any language in U.S. law outlining the fact that these 11 random individuals targeted by the Obama Administration are a threat to the interests of the United States and therefore we are justified in seizing their assets. This is important because an EO is supposed to clarify law in order to assist its execution. You can’t clarify what never existed, so in this case you just make it up.

Utilizing vested authority due to acts of war on our interests abroad could be extrapolated to anyone, anywhere. Same goes with national defense. Our “interests” can literally mean anything. We may view a referendum vote, such as in Crimea, as invalid. Yet these types of votes occur across the globe all the time. North Korea anyone? Venezuela? Cuba? Where are the EO’s condemning those votes? Why aren’t we seizing assets there?

The longer the Executive Branch goes unchecked, the greater the likelihood they will misuse that power. We’ve already extended the battlefield to include the entire globe. These types of EO’s extend our potential adversary’s to include all Americans as well. Russia may be employing Cold War tactics, but Obama is employing globalist new world order tactics. It is tyrannical.

The Emperor may have no clothes and the world may view President Obama as a wimp, but he has a mighty pen from which tyranny flows. He is but a more polished version of the president of the country where I live.

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. _Ronald Reagan

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

When a Democrat doesn’t like something, they either try to ban it, or they make it impossible to do without banning it.  In this case, they are going with the direct ban.  It seems that a Missouri Democrat, Jeff Roorda, wants to tell businesses when they can start their Black Friday sales.  The Missouri Torch has the details…

Sorry, you’re too stupid to decide whether or not you should go shopping or not, so this great regressive democrat will decide for you.

Fascist Friday: Eleven Year old Earns Suspension for Talking About Gun

fascist friday

That’s right, all a child needed to do was to mention a gun, and he earned a ten day suspension.  Here is the story, from WMAL…

OWINGS, MD — The father of a middle schooler in Calvert County, Md. says his 11-year-old son was suspended for 10 days for merely talking about guns on the bus ride home.

Bruce Henkelman of Huntingtown says his son, a sixth grader at Northern Middle School in Owings, was talking with friends about the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre when the bus driver hauled him back to school to be questioned by the principal, Darrel Prioleau.

“The principal told me that with what happened at Sandy Hook if you say the word ‘gun’ in my school you are going to get suspended for 10 days,” Henkelman said in an interview with WMAL.com.

So what did the boy say?  According to his father, he neither threatened nor bullied anyone.

“He said, I wish I had a gun to protect everyone. He wanted to defeat the bad guys. That’s the context of what he said,” Henkelman said. “He wanted to be the hero.”

The boy was questioned by the principal and a sheriff’s deputy, who also wanted to search the family home without a warrant, Henkelman said. “He started asking me questions about if I have firearms, and [the deputy said] he’s going to have to search my house.  Search my house?  I just wanted to know what happened.”

No search was performed, and the deputy left Henkelman’s home after the father answered questions in a four-page questionnaire issued by the Sheriff’s Office.

So, the kid mentioned guns in the context of protecting others, and he gets suspended?  And, how is it that law enforcement can demand to search a home without probable cause or a warrant?   This is a prime example of knee-jerk reactionary nonsense.  Emotional thinking leads to stupid decisions, and this is a prime example.

Nurses Fight to Not Take Lives, Win Suit to not Participate in Abortion

fascist friday

The story is nearly two years old, but increasingly relevant in the age of ObamaCare.  Imagine that you are a nurse, and your employer mandates that you take part in abortions, and kill babies.  And, if you refuse to kill babies, you will be fired.  And, they persist, even though state and federal law protect you from being forced to kill babies.

Laws are not, Christians are going to be facing more and persecution such as this.   And frankly, look for the laws protecting conscience to be repealed.  Whenever God and the secular world meet, the secular world, and it’s boss, is going to try and punish anyone who is devoutly following Jesus.  As it is said, what is good will be put up as evil, and what is evil will be put up as being good.  It’s only going to get worse.

Fascist Friday: Belafonte Goes True Marxist, Recommends That Obama Imprison Dissenters

Um, I said last night that if you leave leftists to their own devises long enough, they reveal their true nature.  And, what if Harry Belafonte suggests that Obama imprison dissenters?  Take a look at this video, via Gateway Pundit…

Third world dictator?  Well, if we follow the path of Obama and the left, we may one day end up in that situation, being a third world hell hole.

Of course, it’ll be someone else’s fault.

Apparently, the Arab Spring did not Apply to Christians: Egyptian Student Killed for not Covering Cross

Remember when a quite are few of us said that the Arab Spring was an open invitation to Islamic extremism?  Here’s an indication that we were right, via Powerline…

Arab Spring, Egyptian edition: a 17 year old Christian in a high school in Mallawi was ordered by his teacher to cover up a tattoo of a cross on his wrist. True to his faith, he refused to do so and instead exposed a crucifix that he wore around his neck. He was then beaten to death by his teacher and two Muslim students:

According to Ayman’s father, eyewitnesses told him that his son was not beaten up in the school yard as per the official story, but in the classroom. “They beat my son so much in the classroom that he fled to the lavatory on the ground floor, but they followed him and continued their assault. When one of the supervisors took him to his room, Ayman was still breathing. The ambulance transported him from there dead, one hour later.”

This isn’t the first example of Christians being persecuted or killed in the “new” Egypt, and it probably won’t be the last.  The Copts have lived there since the earliest days of Christianity.  I wonder if any will be left in 5-10 years?

Fascist Friday: The Government intends on telling us what we can eat

Conservatives and Libertarians always warn of the the ever-expanding powers of the state.  Frankly, it doesn’t matter who is in charge, the state takes on a power all of it’s own.  We covered many examples of government intrusions into our lives; how much water our toilets can use, TSA gropings and porno-scanners, mandates to force us into buying insurance, and the like.   While that is just the tip of the iceberg, it does give one the impression that government power has been growing to levels that would make the founders wretch.

Some of you might not see it.  Some will deny it, and others will say that it’s all necessary, and that we are simply over-reacting.  For those of you, I offer the latest example of government over-reach.  They are openly stating that they have to power to tell us what to eat…

(CNSNews.com) – U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told members of the National Restaurant Association on Monday that Americans need to “adjust” their tastes so that they like the kind of food the government believes they should eat—and “we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.”

“You know, as we deal with this issue of reducing sodium and sugar, it sounds simple to do, but you all know better than I do, it’s not as simple as it sounds,” said Vilsack.

“It’s going to take time for people’s taste to adjust and they will adjust over time, but it will take some time,” he said. “So, we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.

You can go the the CNS link to hear the audio.

So, the US Agriculture Secretary is telling us that we HAVE to change our tastes?  Under what Constitutional authority are they operating?  Who or what gives them the right or power to control what Americans eat?

This I must tell you, whoever occupies the White House in 2013 will have to remove this program, and as much of the related bureaucracy as humanly possible.  It must be ripped out by the root, and completely destroyed.  Government has NO role in determining what we eat.

For those of you that scoff at freedom loving Americans for pointing out the nature of the state, and the nannies therein, do you want government telling you what you can or cannot eat?

And I Thought it was only Cradle TO Grave: NLRB goes After the Dead as well

Apparently, even death does not give one refuge from the nanny state.   According to this story from Big Government, the NLRB does not take being “animately challenged” as an excuse for not responding to their whims…

Every week the NLRB publishes a summary of NLRB decisions. In the Board’s latest weekly summary, there was one decision summary that seemed rather unique since it stated:

The Board granted the Acting General Counsel’s Motion for Default Judgment based on the Respondent’s failure to file an answer to the complaint. The Board found that the death of BLSI, LLC’s owner and the insolvency of his estate did not constitute good cause for the Respondent’s failure to answer the complaint.

So, in addition to prosecuting companies for deciding to open new non-union plants, giving union pushers the ability to physically threaten voters, as well as legitimizing sweetheart unions, Obama’s National Labor Relations Board is now prosecuting dead people too.

What’s even more pathetic is the NLRB’s prosecution of said dead person is, in part, based on said dead person’s failing to respond to the NLRB.

In the absence of good cause being shown for the failure to file a timely answer,we deem the allegations in the complaint admitted as true, and we grant the Acting General Counsel’s Motion for Default Judgment.

In other words, being dead is no longer a good enough cause not to respond and, as a result, the dead person is guilty.

Wow kids, now that is POWER.  What are they going to do, file a suit against God for taking the guy before they could get him in their icy grip?

You know, Rahm Emanuel said, “never let a crisis go to waste.”  I say, never let an opportunity to show a Monty Python video go to waste…

Perhaps the dude isn’t dead, and just “pining for the fjords?”

Have the Liberals Finally Succeeded In Dividing America into Two Factions?

This is an important question. Maybe the most important question of the day. Have the liberals, after years of using their tactics of class warfare and race warfare and cultural warfare, finally succeeded in splitting America into two irreconcilable enemy camps with the sheeple standing by to see which side will win?

Cheryl Pass ,of  My Tea Party Chronicle and a regular here on Guest Saturday, has written a remarkably cogent and poignant essay on this theme. This is a must read for all conservatives and libertarians. If Cheryl is right in her analysis, and I believe she is, then all of us who love the America our Founders created must recognize that if this were a game of chess, the liberals have us in check and they are only a few moves from putting us in checkmate unless we make our own bold moves right now.

This is not just a battle over the debt ceiling and the budget. This is not just about the next elections. We must recognize that we are on the verge of losing our nation. As a people, we are on the verge of becoming the slaves of a socialist state. We are in a battle for our very survival. We have been passive far too long. We can not negotiate or compromise with the other side. The scales are tilted much too far to left already.

Cheryl makes an interesting correlation between our situation today with the Civil War. Please read the entire essay. For now, I will share just a few paragraphs:

Everywhere I look, on every issue, I am seeing America split into two camps. You are either a “Progressive” big government, gay promoting, pro-amnesty, green zealot, or you are a “Constitutionalist” small government, freedom lover. Our country divided is unfriendly, uncivil, unhappy, and suffering from a lack of cohesive citizenship, pitting false ideas of victimhood against the formula for individual success. There is no joy in Mudville lately.

Our country is broken in a way I believe is comparable to the days leading up to the Civil War. And like the Civil War era, this has come upon us gradually and insidiously. Families and friends were lined up on two different sides of the issues of the day; slavery, states rights , tariffs, and a wide divide in economic prosperity between the states. You could say that slavery was the underlying most critical issue of all and that is what drove the divide to the ultimate culmination of war. And I believe you would be mostly correct on that point. But I would also add that states rights – federalism was the Constitutional structure most challenged over the issue of slavery. In that way, slavery became a Constitutional crisis.

The goal of Progressives is collective Federal force against the individual. The goal of Constitutionalists is celebrating individual gifts and successes, forcing no one into paying for someone else, i.e. allowing individual liberty. The dichotomy is that the slavery issue from the Civil War has been translated into whether or not you can buy an incandescent light bulb or purchase your own healthcare insurance. In this way, the Constitutional crisis of slavery has become a Constitutional crisis of personal choices, a catalyst for enslavement of the entire population of America. Federalism has been turned on its head.

I am struck by the vehement adherence to these un-Constitutional dictates that I see in some people around me. It is as if our cultural conversations are on two completely different planets. It’s nice to think we have common ground, but it is obvious we don’t. “Never the twain shall meet” is the motto of the day. Opposites, in this case, do not attract, but repel each other. I am repelled by the Progressive, Marxist, big government people I hear and see in our society. Seriously repelled. I don’t see common ground with them. There is none.

The Constitution can and should prevail in its brilliant assurances of individual freedom from slavery, from slavery by the Federal government, from slavery by tyranny at all levels of government. Those who wish to enslave others to their own power agenda have no place in America…just as those who wished to continue the practice of African slavery had no place in America. The slavery of Progressivism is the same, only this time it is slavery of all people. Our current events are just that…current incarnations of the same old divide. We need to let them know this, in no uncertain terms. The beginning of the end of the Progressive Era has come. We’ve fought this fight before and we won. They don’t win….we do.

Under President Obama, the liberal left are moving much faster than they ever did in the past. They smell victory. We will hand them defeat. This is not the first time that someone thought they had America against the ropes. We in the conservative/libertarian blogosphere have raised our voices high over the last three years. It’s time to raise them much higher still. It is time to show those that would enslave us that we  will never submit.

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

True Story: Liberal Teacher Told me to Stop Spreading 'Propaganda' of Liberty

One feature of my classroom that I haven’t told you all about before is my Liberty Library. I got this idea from a friend of mine who also teaches in Michigan in a nice district that is a little friendlier than mine to conservative ideas. I decided to give it a try regardless, and purchased a series of short books (30 pages or less) that emphasize themes that I consider to be friendly towards the practice and belief of liberty- books such as The Law, Why Government Is the Problem (Essays in Public Policy), I, Pencil – My Family Tree As Told to Leonard E. Read, and Depressions: Their causes and cure (Politics minibooks). These books challenge students to think differently about the law, government, and economics, and students are free to check them out and read them as they wish.

Last week, a student of mine checked out from my Liberty Library my copy of Moral Basis for Liberty. This book discusses why liberty and freedom are good and desirable things for a society- in my opinion, ideas and thoughts and arguments that shouldn’t in any way be controversial or debatable. But apparently having books around for students to read that discuss why liberty and freedom are good is something that other teachers in public schools disagree with, because at our social studies department meeting today, I was confronted by several liberal teachers regarding this book.

After I sat down, several teachers stopped talking with one another and looked to the leader of the group, Mr. Liberal Teacher. He addressed me “Teacher, it has come to our attention that you are spreading your propaganda around the school, giving books to students on subjects that are controversial and debatable.”

I was surprised, but of course sympathetic to his argument- I had brought up the same thing last year when he was requiring his students to read The Communist Manifesto and Che: The Diaries of Ernesto Che Guevara in his World History class. “What book am I passing out that is controversial and debatable?” I asked.

“Something about Moral Basis for Liberty,” Liberal Teacher replied, and the other liberal teachers in his group nodded along. “What you do in your classroom is your own business, but you can’t press your views on students regarding such issues as freedom and liberty.”

This of course stunned me- I had never thought that students freely deciding to read books on liberty and freedom would prompt any sort of confrontation. Oh, I figured some of the more conservative or libertarian books in my library might cause some blowback, but not books that argued that freedom and liberty were moral! Liberals and Democrats want liberty and freedom too, right? Or perhaps Mr. Liberal Teacher didn’t want those things- from what I have heard about his classroom, he is a lot like other liberal teachers, and attempts to intimidate and browbeat and bully his students into agreeing with his liberal worldview, and as such would view critical thinking and the open exchange of ideas and freedom and liberty as a threat to what he is doing.

The educational workplace though is not the proper place to have a debate such as this, and from personal experience I have learned that fighting an open war with liberal teachers is a sure-fire way to get fired, so I simply said “Thank you for your concern” and changed the subject. For now, they were content enough to have simply fired their shots at me and were content with their attempts to intimidate me, but I have to admit, they probably shouldn’t have let it go with just that.

They’re right to fear me, and fear other conservative teachers like me, who are busy opening the minds of students to the possibility that it is okay to be a conservative or libertarian, that it is moral to want liberty, that freedom is a moral goal in itself, that government should be limited in a free society, that private property rights should be protected and respected, and that government is rarely the solution to the problem but often the problem. I don’t push these views in my classroom, but I make sure that they are available and that they are presented along with liberal and socialist and communist and fascist views, and as my students become more intelligent and wise and better critical thinkers, they are choosing on their own to listen to and follow the conservative views over others.

This liberal teacher should have gone farther in bullying and threatening me, because every year I churn through my classroom hundreds of more good patriots and citizens who someday will vote for a government that believes in the protection of life, liberty, and property. He is right to fear me, because I’m teaching my students to be like our patriot hero forefathers, the philosopher revolutionaries who dared to challenge the bullies from across the sea and build a free nation, one based on a proposition that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain rights, and that government should be a just government based on the consent of the governed. Liberal Teacher made his points, but in the end, the game will be won by the forces of moral liberty, and I will have done my part to make that so.

Fascist Friday: DNC Accusing GOP of Standard Democrat Tactics

We’ve said many times that the Democrats always accuse the GOP of doing what the Democrats do. It’s usually a safe bet that if the Democrats are firing off accusations, it’s because that’s what they’re doing. It’s either an effort to take attention off of their activities, or just projection; assuming others are doing what they’re doing.

And as far as the upcoming elections are concerned? So it begins…

Chairman Tim Kaine suggested Thursday that there’s concern that Tea Party activists will intimidate Democrats at the polls in November.

We’re always concerned about intimidation, misinformation,” Kaine said, when asked by a reporter whether he thinks the conservative activists will “challenge” voters on Election Day.

So, here we are. The Democrats are the one’s that have been caught in intimidation efforts, and have conveniently left off the hook by the DOJ. However, the accusations here are simply the start. You see; Tea Party folks are not likely to do that at all, so the left will have to MAKE it happen. Just as they engaged in false flag during the Tea Party rallies, they may also do it on Election Day. They’ll get a couple of Gadsden flag tee shirts, put them on some Move On or Organizing for America useful idiots, and have them harass voters at the polls. And look, a Think Progress useful idiot with a camera! What a coincidence!  I know, it hypothetical, but it does match prior practice from the left.

Of course, the lefty blogosphere will run with it, and eventually, they’ll get their minions in the MSM to run it as well. You have to remember that for the left, the ends justify the means. As we have seen all though this administration; lies, deception, false flag, harassment, intimidation, and violence are all part of the playbook. Because as long as they get total power over the cradle to grave existence of every human being, ANY tactic is acceptable.

And the distractions continue.

—In light of Obama attacking conservative groups over the disclosure of donors, Kaine said it could be the biggest scandal since Watergate. “I think what you’re going to see on the Republican side is the non-reportable spending is going to dwarf the reportable spending, effectively hiding from scrutiny the identities of those who are funding these campaigns.”

—Kaine says the Tea Party has the “upper hand” in the Republican Party. “We think that has significance…we’re going to win seats that we were going to lose six months ago because of the Tea Party.” But the chairman also acknowledged that, “there’s energy there that we have to counter.”

Note that there is no discussion of ObamaCare,  The Porkulus, or any other of the administrations “accomplishments.”  The obvious reasons for this are clear…they are failures.    They are accomplishing the exact opposite of their stated intent, as do all liberal policies.  So, they attack and lie, all in order to gain and maintain more and more power.

Fascist Friday: Professor Fired for Agreeing with Bible

We’ve discussed liberal bias in education many times before.  School-aged and college kids have been harassed, threatened, given failing grades, and so forth.  Their crime?  Not towing the “progressive” line.  Apparently, this goes for professors as well, as FOX News reported.

URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois has fired an adjunct professor who taught courses on Catholicism after a student accused the instructor of engaging in hate speech by saying he agrees with the church’s teaching that homosexual sex is immoral.

The professor, Ken Howell of Champaign, has taught at the university for nine years. He says his firing violates his academic freedom.

A professor at the university who is also president of the American Association of University Professors agrees. Cary Nelson says teachers are allowed to express their own beliefs.

University spokeswoman Robin Kaler declined comment because Howell’s firing is a personnel issue.

The student had a friend register his complaint and has remained anonymous.

Now, leftist professors are permitted to disparage religions (unless it is Islam), humiliate and insult Conservatives, but agree with Biblical teaching???  That is the line that apparently cannot be crossed.  All that from a professor that was ranked as one of the most popular by his students in 2009!

So much for “tolerance and diversity.”

However, the students that rated Mr. Howell so highly are not taking this sitting down.

University of Illinois graduate student Eli Lazar is leading a campaign to reinstate professor Kenneth Howell, who taught courses on Catholicism at the university.

Howell was dismissed earlier this year after UI administrators received student complaints about a discussion in which Howell explained that the Catholic Church views homosexual acts as morally wrong. Howell is appealing, stating that his dismissal was in violation of his academic freedom.

Lazar told The News-Gazette, “What upset me about this, and what’s upset other people, is we kind of feel students’ sensitivity is starting to dictate what is taught at the university.” He explained that a course on Catholicism must, by nature, include the Church’s views on homosexuality and relevant social issues. He affirmed, “This was not about ‘hate speech,’ and if we censor speech, we censor our abilities to understand each other.”

I am struck by Lazar’s naiveté.  His last sentence is proof of that.  The fact is that PC is MEANT to censor, and is MEANT to prevent people from understanding anything that is not liberal.  In the “progressive” utopia of the future, there is to be NO dissent.  Speech codes, punishing dissent, and otherwise squelching actual debate is the goal.  It’s not an unintended consequence; it’s a feature!  The universities are the training ground.  Then, the “progressives” hope their freshly minted useful idiots will take this tyranny out to the real world, and as they rise in business or bureaucracy, install it universally.

It doesn’t sound pretty, does it?

The students did create a Facebook page to promote their efforts.  Feel free to check it out and support Mr. Howell.

Fascist Friday: Man Enters Cuban Gulag, Released as a Paraplegic

Fascist Friday?  About Cuba?  Well, OK, it’s not about fascism, but its equally evil brother, communism.

Ariel Sigler Amaya was recently released from the gulag.  Unfortunately, the damage has been done.

Senior Catholic clergymen had urged Cuban president Raul Castro to release Ariel Sigler Amaya, 47, on humanitarian grounds.

Mr Sigler became paraplegic in jail and his family had serious concerns for his health.

He was arrested in 2003 as part of a government sweep on dissidents, and found guilty of treason.

Our correspondent says there are still about 180 political prisoners in Cuba, and almost 30 of them are said to suffer serious health problems.

So, this guy goes to the gulag in 2003, and seven years later, he emerged a very different man. Kindly take a look at the picture below.

I see that the socialist state really knows how to treat dissidents.

But the story does not end there.  Apparently, Mr. Amaya has been granted permission to enter the US.

The beaten and abused paraplegic prisoner of conscience, Ariel Sigler Amaya, has been granted a visa by the US government on humanitarian grounds so that he can seek medical attention here in the US for the injuries he suffered as a prisoner in a Cuban gulag.

The only thing preventing him from boarding a plane and leaving Cuba, however, is the “embargo.”

That is, the “embargo” the Cuban dictatorship has maintained against the Cuban people for the past 51 years, depriving them of the most basic human rights and freedoms.

This leads me to two questions:

  1. If the free and socialist Cuban health care system is so wonderful, why haven’t they healed this man?  Or, are his communist party inflicted injuries beyond being bled with leeches?
  2. If the “workers paradise” is so great, why do they have to prevent people from leaving?  We have a terrible time trying to keep people out.  Cuba has a terrible time keeping people in.  I wonder why?

In a related, but older story, here is an example of what happens when Cuban have a shot at leaving.

TAMPA, Fla. — The day after five members of Cuba’s under-23 Olympic soccer team left their hotel with the intention of defecting, two more players disappeared Wednesday night.

Yendry Diaz told ESPN International on the phone that he and Eder Roldan also had left the Cuban team.

Diaz and Roldan are with friends in Tampa, but intend to join their fellow defector teammates in Lake Worth, Fla., according to the Miami Herald.

The original five — Jose Manuel Miranda, Erlys Garcia Baro, Yenier Bermudez, Yordany Alvarez and Loanni Prieto — left Tuesday after a 1-1 draw against the United States in an Olympic qualifying tournament in Tampa.

The five already are in Lake Worth, a town north of Boca Raton, according to The Herald, which reached the players by phone Wednesday.

“‘We’re fine, calm, feeling hopeful about our new lives,” Bermudez told The Herald. “Of course, we’re nervous because we’re young, have no family here, and we don’t yet know the way of life here, but we hope the Cuban and American communities will help us get started.”

Yes sir, Cuba must be a great place to live.  Remember that the next time a bunch of lefties cheer Castro or wear Che shirts.  The pictures above are the very things that they are supporting.

Of course, you’ll NEVER see his story told in the MSM.  If anything, they would agree with the probable official Cuban government position that he “fell down…a lot.”

Fascist Friday: Judge Martin Feldman Recieves Death Threats

What happens if you are a judge that interferes with the policies of the POTUS?  Let’s take a look at Judge Martin Feldman, and see what happened.  Judge Feldman issued the decision that overturned the administrations drilling moratorium.  Here is some coverage.

New Orleans–While many Americans undoubtedly agree with the decision of U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman to overturn the Obama administration’s moratorium on deep water drilling, not everyone is happy. In fact, the Judge is now receiving death threats in the aftermath of his bold ruling.

Last night, Feldman served as a celebrity judge at a cooking contest at a school gymnasium in Uptown New Orleans. Due to the threats, Feldman was accompanied by a federal marshal security team.

It is a sad indictment of our society today that a judge with such a sterling record of integrity and service to his country would be subject to such threats. Feldman was appointed to the federal bench by President Reagan in 1983. Today, he is in the eye of a political hurricane unlike anything he has ever experienced.

In issuing his ruling, Feldman said that the moratorium was faulty because there was no “rational connection between the facts found and the choice made.” While there is often debate about the merits of judicial decisions, seldom does the criticism focus on the integrity of the judge. Right after he issued the ruling, Feldman came under attack as a tool of the oil industry. Media outlets reporters noted that the Judge held stock in oil and gas companies and implied that his decision was based on his own personal financial considerations. Such a personal attack is unfair and completely unwarranted, especially for Feldman, a distinguished judge known for his commitment to the law and a jurist who has earned the praise of people throughout the legal community.

Much of the sensational reporting on Feldman’s investments was based on outdated information. The Judge was blasted for owning stock in Transocean, Ltd and Halliburton, two of the major companies involved in the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Feldman owned those stocks in 2008; however, he sold those shares long before issuing his ruling this week. In fact, this updated information will be released in the next report on his stock holdings.

If Feldman held financial interests in any of companies involved in the lawsuit or the Deepwater Horizon rig, he would not have been allowed the take the case. The 5th District Court uses a sophisticated computer system to check whether judges have a conflict of interest in any legal proceeding. This system automatically determines whether a judge needs to be recused from a particular case. In this lawsuit, Feldman was allowed to take the case because he did not own any stock related to the parties involved. (emphasis mine)

We don’t know who made the threats, and the nature of those threats are not apparent at this time.  I would suspect the environazis.  With the oil spill, and the (intentional) neglect in the cleanup, the environmentalists are closer to curtailing the use of oil than ever before.  The drilling moratorium is one additional step in that direction.  Then, Judge Feldman made his decision.  In addition, he refused to delay his decision while the administration appealed.  That, of course, would make him a target of the environmentalists.  Come to think of it, would that keep the rigs in the gulf, and NOT in the loving hands of Brazil and Obama pal George Soros?

Almost immediately, the left went on the attack.  Their primary argument was that the Judge owns stock in companies involved in the case.  Reality, of course, shows that not to be true.  However, I do not forsee anyone retracting those statements.  They have what they think is a good narrative, and, as usual, it is reality-optional.

It ought to be interesting to see how this story develops.

Fascist Friday: Black Panther Voter Intimidation Case Revisited

Back in December, we covered the fact that the Obama administration fired the official that initiated the Black Panther Voter intimidation investigation. For a refresher, here are two videos of the original event.

The story has not, however, gone away.  Here is some of the latest from the Washington Examiner.

A trial attorney with the Department of Justice’s Voting Rights Section has resigned, citing concerns about the government’s refusal to prosecute a case involving voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party. A letter of resignation obtained by The Washington Examiner from a former Justice Department employee makes clear DOJ has refused to allow attorneys in the Voting Rights Section to testify before the congressionally-chartered bipartisan U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, despite subpoenas that could result in their being held in contempt.

In his letter of resignation, J. Christian Adams said:

On the other hand, the events surrounding the dismissal of United States v. New Black Panther Party, et al., after the trial team sought and obtained an entry of default, has subjected me, Mr. Christopher Coates, and potentially at some point, all members of the team, to a subpoena from the United States Commission on Civil Rights. The subpoena is based on an explicit federal statute and seeks answers about why the case was dismissed.

I have incurred significant personal expense in retaining a number of separate attorneys and firms regarding this subpoena in order to protect my interests and advise me about my personal legal obligation to comply with the subpoena. Over the last few months, one of my attorneys has had multiple communications with Federal Programs regarding the subpoena. My attorney suggested to them that the Department should file a motion in district court to quash the subpoena and thereby resolve conclusively any question about my obligation to comply.

Months ago, my attorney advised the Department that a motion to quash would be welcome, and that I would assert no objection to the motion. Further, my attorney has explicitly sought to ascertain whether Executive Privilege has been invoked regarding the decisions of individuals not in the Voting Section to order the dismissal of the case. If Executive Privilege has been asserted, or will be, obviously I would not comply with the subpoena. These options would provide some conclusive legal certainly about the extent of my obligation to comply with a subpoena issued pursuant to a federal statute. Instead, we have been ordered not to comply with the subpoena, citing a federal regulation (emphasis mine).

So, when the US Commission on Civil Rights attempts to investigate the matter, they are thwarted by the administration.  So much for “transparency.”

Well, this is another story that you won’t see in the MSM.  Racial intimidation at a polling place, and the government refuses to investigate it themselves, and fires the person who tried.  Then, when  the Civil Rights Commission tries to initiate an investigation, the administration blocks that too.  Might we assume that the administration condones this activity?  They’ve certainly tried their best to keep it from being investigated.

Fascist Friday: Reporter Fired for Disagreeing with Intolerant Left

It’s been quite some time since I’ve done a Fascist Friday post.  However, the left has risen (or shall we say fallen?), to the occasion.  Apparently, disagreeing with the left is still wrong, characterized as hate, and very punishable.

Not following me?  Thinking this is right wing lunacy?  Take a look at this from Newsbusters, and decide for yourself.

The censorious intolerance of the gay left is on display again – a reporter was fired in Waterville, Maine. His offense? Sending an angry private e-mail to the Human Rights Campaign in Washington. The HRC wanted the reporter dismissed – and bang, he was terminated.

Via the Romenesko media news site, I found Al Diamon of Downeast.com reported that Larry Grard was fired after 17 years at the Waterville Sentinel and 35 years in journalism:

Grard was fired by Bill Thompson, editor of the Sentinel and its sister paper the Kennebec Journal in Augusta, shortly after the Nov. 3 election in which Maine voters repealed a same-sex marriage law approved by the Legislature. Grard said he arrived at work the morning after the vote to find an e-mailed press release from the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C., that blamed the outcome of the balloting on hatred of gays.

Grard, who said he’d gotten no sleep the night before, used his own e-mail to send a response. “They said the Yes-on-1 people were haters. I’m a Christian. I take offense at that,” he said. “I e-mailed them back and said basically, `We’re not the ones doing the hating. You’re the ones doing the hating.’

“I sent the same message in his face he sent in mine.”

Grard thought his response was anonymous, but it turned out to be anything but. One week later, he was summoned to Thompson’s office. He was told that Trevor Thomas, deputy communications director of the Human Rights Campaign, had Googled his name, discovered he was a reporter, and was demanding Grard be fired. According to Grard, Thompson said, “There’s no wiggle room.”

He was immediately dismissed.

Is this a new trend? Being Google-canned?

It didn’t matter that Grard sent an e-mail privately. It didn’t matter that Grard never covered the “gay marriage” initiative battle. He had taken offense at the HRC, and that was apparently grounds for firing:

Grard hadn’t covered the marriage issue or other gay-rights controversies for the Sentinel. He said that wasn’t because he was opposed to doing so, but “other people grabbed those assignments.”

According to Grard and his union, the Portland Newspaper Guild, he has never before had any disciplinary issues. Guild president Tom Bell said in an e-mail that a grievance has been filed on Grard’s behalf, and the Guild is awaiting a date for an arbitration hearing, which will probably take place in three or four months. “The Guild is defending the contract,” Bell said, “which requires that there be progressive discipline in situations like this.”

Grard said he wouldn’t be complaining if he’d been subjected to a lesser penalty, such as a reprimand or a suspension without pay, for his first offence. He said reporters frequently send personal e-mails from their own accounts during working hours without incurring management’s wrath.

Grard said he thinks his religious beliefs were a factor in his firing, calling it “anti-Christian bias.” “A lawyer said to me, `What if you’d agreed with [the Human Rights Campaign]? Would the company fire you for that? Of course they wouldn’t have,'” he said.

The Sentinel and the other MaineToday papers editorialized in favor of same-sex marriage.

The week after Grard was fired, he said, his wife, Lisa, who wrote a biweekly food column for the Sentinel as a freelancer, received an e-mail informing her that her work would no longer be needed.

Did HRC also demand the freelancing wife be fired? Of course, the people responsible for Grard’s firing are not responding to calls for comment – which is always amusing when the no-comment folks are editors and publicists:

Well then, leftists track this guy down, complain to his employer, and demand that he be fired.  His crime?  Did he advocate violence?  Did he make personal threats to another person?  Did he commit a crime?  No my friends, he did none of those things.  Not even close.  He disagreed with a political agenda, nothing more.  In our brave new world, to think differently from the left is a crime.  It is hate!  To believe in a God, especially the Christian variety, makes you guilty of hate, and in this new leftist world, you are not to be tolerated.

“Whoa!” you say?  “Isn’t the left all about tolerance and diversity?”  No, my friends, they are not.  We must remember that when the left talks about “tolerance and diversity,” they only mean “tolerance” for themselves…NOT for you.  You are NOT permitted to have ideas, let alone state them, that come into conflict with the left.

This follows right along with the attacks on people that supported Prop 8 in California.  The threats, ridicule, and decreased grades for Conservatives at the Universities, and the treatment of the Tea Party and Town Hall protesters by the MSM are other examples.  It will continue.  The left cannot win a debate by honest means.  They lie at every turn.  To keep themselves from being exposed, they are constantly on the attack.  As I have said so many times before, if a person is smeared or discredited, their ideas can be ignored.  That, my friends, is the end goal.

Education: Our Greatest Battle?

This is an article that I had commented on for another site some time ago. I thought that given the current climate of “change,” it might be a good idea to re-visit it. The article is eight years old, however, it seems to echo what is going on today.

From the August 2001 Idaho Observer:

Why Our Schools Teach Socialism

By Joe Larson

Congratulations America: Today there are over 10,000 openly marxist professors and thousands of humanist professors controlling the universities and colleges that produce America’s teachers and other professionals. Varying forms of marxist-humanism are the predominant philosophies of the educational establishment; yet we repeatedly send our most precious gift (our children) off to them for “education” (indoctrination).

Today’s schools are filled with sex education, political correctness, environmental extremism, global unity, diversity training (pro-homosexuality) and higher order thinking skills [HOTS]; which boldly claim that to become a higher order thinker one must first believe the fact that there are no absolutes, absolutely! “The Greatest Story Ever Told” based on the greatest book ever written, “The Holy Bible,” about the greatest teacher who ever lived, Jesus, is not allowed, let alone used, in the schools of America. The Bible was America’s first textbook; yet today it is referred to as a book of fables.

Our schools are filled with violence, murder, extortion, rape, unwanted pregnancy, drug use, disrespect, foul language, declining test scores and children who cannot read. While the pontificators wonder why, God doesn’t; He knows – Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. I will also reject thee seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God; I will also forget thy children.” Verse 7 says, “As they were increased, so they sinned against Me: Therefore, will I change their glory into shame.”

The problem with America’s educational system began with the birth of socialism and given impetus by federal government involvement. Lenin, one of the world’s leading experts on socialism, tells us – “Communism is socialism in a hurry.” Socialism, therefore, is communism by gradualism rather than by revolution. The socialist “Fabian Society,” the forerunner of most socialist groups in America, had as their motto “Make Haste Slowly.” “Democratic Socialism” became the battle cry to socialize the United States of America. The socialists’ goal was to “permeate and penetrate,” then control this nation from deep within. Their first target in America was our children through public instruction.

In the U.S. their followers would use language as their first line of attack and deceit. They would wear no badge nor socialist label, but were to call themselves “liberal,” “progressive” and even “moderate.” Words were the weapon of choice for this new war. By changing and shifting word meanings the socialists could cover their true purpose. Everything would be done under the banners of “reform” and “social justice,” suggesting all was for the public good, for humanitarian reasons, for true democracy — and finally — for the children. The buzzwords of socialism were then, and are today, “social” and “democracy” (i.e. social science, social studies and socialization of the child). Robert Conquest observed, “a communist never does anything under his own name that he can do under someone else’s.”

This is important:  Totalitarians never announce themselves.  They do not come in and say, “Hi, we’re socialists and we’re going to take away your freedoms bit by bit.  We’re going to criminalize your beliefs and your God. We’re going to control every aspect of your live from cradle to grave, and there isn’t a thing you can do about it!” They couch their intentions with pleasant sounding words; they distort and confuse the meanings of their words to make you think “it’s OK.”  How many times do we hear the term “change, reform, progressive?” Or, what of “tolerance, diversity, or fairness?”  “Change” is certainly true (not change we would want), but what of the others?  I think we all know what they really mean.

Regarding the statement, “make haste slowly,” the left does not announce their plans and intentions in full form.  They know that the public would reject them.  Instead, they move incrementally.  They take whatever step they can at a time.  Either by exploiting a crisis, or creating one, they implement their plans step by step.  It will start with some regulations or restrictions, usually in response to some real or invented event or problem.  As time wears on, they add to the regulations or restrictions.  At each phase, the politicians and media assures the public that it’s just some small sacrifices that they’re making, and the government doesn’t  really want to take some right or freedom away.  The educational system plays a role here as well.  Since so many children are indoctrinated, they will no know the reasons for the freedoms that we have.  As we have heard, there have been more than a few occasions where children have been threatened with failing grades, ridiculed, or otherwise discriminated against because they had a differing viewpoint.  Too many of these people grow to be adults with absolutely no concept of our system of government.  They don’t recognize that government control always leads to tyranny.  They have no idea that the founders wrote our Constitution to protect our rights from the very things that are happening now.

In the early 1900’s, because of unrest in Europe, thousands of socialists flocked to America for safety. Large numbers held degrees in the fields of psychology, sociology and psychiatry (behavioral sciences, dealing with behavior and [social] change). Many went on to become college and university professors.

Norman Thomas, socialist and member of the Civil Liberties Union, boldly told the world, “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”

Note now that they don’t use the word “liberal.” They now refer to themselves as “progressive.”  How ironic! They use a nice sounding term to describe tyranny.

The story of how the socialists took over the American educational establishment would fill a book; so let us just listen to their own words.

John Dewey, called “the father of modern education,” was an avowed socialist, the co-author of the ‘Humanist Manifesto’ and cited as belonging to fifteen Marxist-front organizations by the Committee on Un-American Activities. Do the words (the father of modern education) now take on new meaning? Remember, Dewey taught the professors who would train America’s teachers. He was obsessed with “the group.” In his own words, “You can’t make socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”

How many of us were taught by our parents, or even our schools, to think for ourselves, be self-reliant, strive to achieve our dreams, be our own person?  Under the system of the future, are these traits illnesses that are to be “treated?” Are we to be replaced by successive generations of subservient drones that have no ability to critically analyze facts, and therefore will never question their masters?

Rosalie Gordon, writing on Dewey’s progressive (socialist) education in her book “What’s Happened To Our Schools,” said, “The progressive system has reached all the way down to the lowest grades to prepare the children of America for their role as the collectivists of the future. The group — not the individual child — is the quintessence of progressivism. The child must always be made to feel part of the group. He must indulge in group thinking and group activity.”

Collectivist = Communists.  Notice how individuality is to be eliminated.  How meaningful are the individual freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution when individuality is to be eliminated? As an update, is it any surprise that the government has been pushing mandatory pre-school? This has nothing to do with education. This is about indoctrination.  They state it plainly themselves.

After visiting the Soviet Union, Dewey wrote six articles on the “wonders” of Soviet education. The School-To-Work system in our public schools (all 50 states) is modeled after the Soviet poly-technical system.

In 1936, the National Education Association stated its position, from which they have never wavered; “We stand for socializing the individual.”

The NEA in its “Policy For American Education” stated, “The major problem of education in our times arises out of the fact that we live in a period of fundamental social change. In the new democracy [we were a Republic] education must share in the responsibility of giving purpose and direction to social change. The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual. Education must operate according to a well-formulated social policy.”

Paul Haubner, specialist for the NEA, tells us, “The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school. That is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. [Christians?] Our (humanistic) goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values.”

Professor Chester M. Pierce, M.D., Professor of Education and Psychiatry at Harvard, has this to say, “Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well — by creating the international child of the future.”

Some politicians agree. Listen to former Senator Paul Hoagland of Nebraska: “The fundamentalist parents have no right to indoctrinate their children in their beliefs. We are preparing their children for the year 2000 and life in a global one-world society and those children will not fit in.”

What then happens to those children that do not “fit in” to this new socialist world?  Many of the readers of this blog have been subject to the indoctrination of the public schools and universities.  We were somehow able to resist and form opinions of our own.  What will become of such people in the “new order?”

In the Humanist Review magazine it was observed that, “Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism. What can a theistic Sunday school’s meeting for an hour once a week and teaching only a fraction of the children do to stem the tide of the five-day program of humanistic teaching?”

P. Blanchard, in ‘The Humanist” 1983, continues: “I think that the most important factor moving us toward a secular society has been the educational factor. Our schools may not teach Johnny how to read properly, but the fact that Johnny is in school until he is 16 tends toward the elimination of religious superstition. The average American child now acquires a high school education, and this militates against Adam and Eve and all other myths of alleged history.”

In a socialist state, there can be no power higher than the state. The concept of God, and for some reason, the Christian God in particular, that has to be eliminated. They won’t say that publicly, but that’s the agenda.  Even for those who aren’t religious, what other ideas might be out of synch with the new worldview?  Once they come for the Christians, who might be next?

John J. Dunphy wrote in the Jan/Feb 1983 edition of The Humanist, “The battle for mankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom. The classroom must and will become the arena of conflict between the old and the new. The rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism.”

Our bureaucrats, politicians and educators are constantly on television blaming either parents or lack of funds for our schools’ dilemmas. The answer is always more money and more government control. For well over 50 years the American voter has believed this line of crap. Victor Gollancz, a famous socialist publisher tells us why he believed that socialism would take over America; “Christians are not exactly bright, so it will be easy for socialism to lead them down the garden path through their ideals of brotherly love and ‘social justice.’”

It’s (past) time that Christian men stand up for their families and their faith and put God back in charge of this nation and it’s schools.

I know, why this now?  I know the ObamaCare plan is oozing its way through Congress.  I know Cap and Trade lurks on the horizon.  Education is already in the hands of the left, and it has been for some time.  We vehemently defend our health care choices and our income, as well we should, but we then forget about our children?  With every successive generation of children going through the public schools, the levels of violence, the lack of ethics, and the lack of knowledge of the average American citizen continues to grow.  Yes, many of us were taught well at home.  We learned lessons of hard work, discipline, integrity, and so forth from our parents and other family members.  But as these new generations are indoctrinated with leftist ideas, there will be fewer and fewer parents able or willing to teach such lessons.  My fear is that, at some time in the future, we will reach a tipping point where people that are honest, have integrity, or are able to think independently will become a small minority.  At that point, the indoctrinated ones will freely give up all the rights that made this nation great, simply because they don’t know the utility of them.  In fact, they will have been taught to despise them.

People that believe in freedom are already the new pariahs for the left.  One only needs to look at the media coverage of the Tea Parties to confirm this.  The drumbeat will only grow.  As it does, the left will continue to indoctrinate more and more children.  We might yet defeat the socialized medicine, and we might prevent passage of Cap and Trade.  Obama may lose hig congressional majorities in 2010.  He might even be defeated in 2012.  But if we continue to give our kids to the government every day, those victories will be temporary, delaying the socialists for a few years to be sure, but in the end, futile.

Fascist Friday A Day Late: Don't go Talking to Them Thar Republicans, Ya Hear?

Isn’t the administration of the messiah SPENDULUS MAXIMUS supposed to be “transparent, open, and bi-partisan?”  Are not the “politics of personal destruction” a thing of the past?  The minions of the messiah wouldn’t act like goons to intimidate or threaten people, would they?  These questions and more are to be answered in this post, ladies and gentlemen!

As we are all aware, the messiah is pushing his healthcare plan, with a goal of having it done this summer.  Now, what do we know of it?

1.  It’s going to be a single payor plan, no matter what the messiah or his minions say!  Look here!

2.  Rationing WILL be involved!  Look here, and here!

Mind you, single payor means that you will be able to get health insurance from the following…

1.  The Government

2.  Teh Gubbermint

3.  Did I mention the Government?

Now that we have the preliminaries out of the way, let’s take a look at the latest developments.

The Republicans are having a series of meetings with lobbyists to discuss the messiah’s plan and it’s obvious deceptions and failings.  This is apparently very bad, according to the minions.  Their response and related thuggery are described here.

Top aides to Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) called a last-minute, pre-emptive strike on Wednesday with a group of prominent Democratic lobbyists, warning them to advise their clients not to attend a meeting with Senate Republicans set for Thursday.

Russell Sullivan, the top staffer on Finance, and Jon Selib, Baucus’ chief of staff, met with a bloc of more than 20 contract lobbyists, including several former Baucus aides.

“They said, ‘Republicans are having this meeting and you need to let all of your clients know if they have someone there, that will be viewed as a hostile act,'” said a Democratic lobbyist who attended the meeting.

“Going to the Republican meeting will say, ‘I’m interested in working with Republicans to stop health care reform,'” the lobbyist added.

CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE TRANSLATION: Eh-If ya know what’s good for ya, yous’ll not go to dem meetings.  The Don is gonna run dis health care show, so if yous knows whats good for ya, you’ll stay away from dem Republicans.  Yous wouldn’t want Vinny the Icepick to do something “unfortunate” would ya?  Yea, “unfortunate,” that’s it!

Republican leaders have been meeting with health care stakeholders for months, with those sessions occurring “more frequently than once a month,” according to a senior Senate GOP aide.

But the underlying motivation for the get-together is to encourage health care lobbyists and stakeholders concerned about the Democrats’ health care reform plans to speak out publicly.

“They need to speak up,” one Senate Republican leadership aide said. “They need to help us help them.”

Thune said Democrats are using threats and intimidation to keep unhappy stakeholders silent.

“If you don’t engage on this thing, this train’s leaving the station,” Thune said. “If you want [Republicans] to have more influence, you’ve got to engage.”

So, the Republicans meet with “stakeholders.”  These would likely be medical providers, patient rights groups, insurance companies, drug companies, patients, professional groups, and the like.  So why would the libtards not want these people getting together and talking?  Why would they resort to threats to prevent them from meeting?

They don’t want patient rights groups telling the sheeple about the messiah’s plan and how it will lead to rationing.  They don’t want doctor groups telling the sheeple about how the plan will lead to less doctors, longer waits, and dying while you wait for care.  They don’t want the others telling the sheeple about how they’ll not have medicines, surguries, treatments and care that their doctors say they need.  They don’t want the sheeple to know that their care will be managed by an unelected bureacrat in a cubicle somewhere!  Oh and BTW, your privacy is out the window too.

One senior Democratic source charged that Thune’s meeting and the supposed motives behind it are in fact a smoke screen for killing health care reform altogether.

“While Democrats and many Republicans are working collaboratively to reform health care, a small group of Republicans appear all too eager to derail this promising, bipartisan effort,” this source said. “It’s politics as usual, it’s disheartening and it’s a shame.”

CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE TRANSLATION: Let’s accuse them of what we’re doing (conspiring to end discussion or progress)!  Let’s say it’s bi-partisan, when what that really means is that it’s us and two or three RINOS!

But with Baucus’ office still warning dissenters that anyone who makes their opposition public could be permanently excluded from future negotiations, the groups representing businesses, health care providers, hospitals and similar stakeholders are still wavering on whether to voice their concerns publicly.

One lobbyist who attended the Wednesday meeting with Baucus’ staff said that the message was more bipartisan. “They said they anticipate having a bipartisan bill and that the process is going well with Republicans,” this lobbyist said. But, the lobbyist added, Baucus’ team did warn, “If your clients attack the process or the product, it’s going to be hard to work with you.”

Man, they threaten people, and when confronted on it, they deny it.   This, yet again, shows the thuggery inherent in the Demonrat Party.  it’s the old, “do as we say or we’ll make bad things happen to you!”

So, messiah voters, you still liking what is going on?  Do you still think it’s “change,” or is it thuggery, intimidation, and extortion?  How many times does it have to happen before you wake up?

And finally,

How ya likin that change?

Note: Pic not entirely related, but really funny.
