Matthew 28:1-7 (New American Standard)

Jesus Is Risen!

1 Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. 2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. 3 And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid ; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6 “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7 “Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” 8 And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshipped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid ; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me.” 11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 12 And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’

He is risen indeed. If not for the resurrection, Jesus would be just another teacher, and the world would have wallowed in darkness forever. And now, while many would have us wallow in that terrible darkness, we have the hope of salvation, and ever lasting life. There are dark days coming, and once again Easter reminds us of Christ’s victory over evil and the grave. Those are victories that he shares with us freely. And while evil grows all around us, we should hold on to the hope that the resurrection provides. Basically, we know how this goes; the good guys win in the end. It’s in the book.

When reading the various news articles I can’t help but notice how bizarre everything has become. Bizarre probably isn’t a completely accurate descriptive word … it’s more like perverse. Yet “perverse” is quite acceptable and embraced by many, those of the more liberal persuasion honor that perverse trend in American society. Those of a more conservative persuasion are now looked upon as the enemy of progressive ideas. I noticed an article yesterday which was highlighting how Christians are not victims even though their values are and have been attacked relentlessly by those embracing perversion. I read in the piece that people are seeing that marriage equality strengthens the institution of marriage.”

Same sex marriage “strengthens the institution of marriage” … What a bizarre take on what the institution of marriage is supposed to be about.  Regardless of what the writer of that article thinks or says marriage in the true sense of the word, is between men and women … not man to man or woman to woman.

Yet we are inundated with perverseness which not only is acceptable to society but when those who don’t embrace perversion voice objection they are subject to ridicule.  Now it’s not just the idea of not accepting a perverse life-style, it’s the idea of being forced into enabling and supporting it is where the objection should be heard. If gay folks want to marry, go ahead but it simply isn’t right to force someone to partake in the wedding of two guys. a mental visual of their “wedding night” or “honey moon” is nothing short of abominable and would get this blogger wretching.

The writer of the piece mentioned  the changing understanding about homosexuality. This is interesting. The only thing changing is the tolerance for perversion conservatives and Christians have been forced to accept either through threats of fines and penalties by judges.

The thing the writer seems to point out is that Christians and conservatives are finding out that being a minority isn’t comfortable, but it isn’t suffering as victims either. And then he offers some comparisons … homos are in danger of being fired or assaulted just for being gay … Christians are forced by a judge to cater to same-sex married couples either through photography or making a wedding cake.

Being  a victim doesn’t always have to be physically damaging. Forcing people to go against the conscious is equally disturbing and damaging. When homos demand that Christians provide a service to something they view as disgusting and vile, isn’t that demand victimizing? Regardless of the methodology in bullying someone it all boils down to persecuting those who are weaker.

Another interesting statement from the article is,  The sky has not fallen, nor have church roofs caved in, just because gay marriage is legal in 17 states, plus the District of Columbia. Life goes on pretty much as normal …

There are a very many people who firmly believe that just because something hasn’t happened yet because of perversion or immoral behavior nothing will. That attitude or train of thought is a very dangerous one. I believe there is a saying that goes something like this:  Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

To sum up the idea that perverse and disgusting behavior is being accepted in society now and that even a majority of people are tolerant of that behavior I wouldn’t get too comfortable, as I recall some very strong wording …  Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

In Nancy Pelosi’s Bible, Satan Wins!

Nancy Pelosi sure has some rather odd things to say.  Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but based on Pelosi’s comments, I have to wonder whose side she is really on.  Actually, I have no doubt!  I caught this over at the Independent Sentinel…

She invents Bible verses too. She said this but it’s nowhere to be found in the Bible.

“The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children’s children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature.”

Last week, she declared government is god, beginning with her belief that government isn’t growing too big.

She said this of Obamacare:

It will not only do that, it will cut our investments in the future: in education, in biomedical research – the National Institutes of Health has the biblical power to cure.

She is a huge supporter of abortion and said this not so long ago, “As a mother of five children…as a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this.” She then went on to talk about the need to protect abortion.

She actually invoked her Catholic faith to promote abortion.

I’ll let you decided about the authorship of Pelosi’s “bible.”  However, mine doesn’t quite mean the same thing.

Was Craig James Fired by Fox Sports for Biblical View of Marriage?

Share

If the claims are true, and Craig James was fired from Fox Sports for being a Bible believing Christian, it would be another sign that persecution is growing.  Breitbart has more…

In exclusive comment to Breitbart News, former ESPN and CBS broadcaster and former Southern Methodist University and NFL star tailback Craig James criticized former employer Fox Sports Southwest for its firing of him two weeks ago over his public stance on same-sex marriage.

“I was shocked that my personal religious beliefs were not only the reason for Fox Sports firing me but I was completely floored when I read stories quoting Fox Sports representatives essentially saying that people of faith are banned from working at Fox Sports,” James told Breitbart News. “That is not right and surely someone made a terrible mistake.”

James continued, “I have worked in broadcasting for twenty-four years and have always treated my colleagues with respect and dignity regardless of their background or personal beliefs. I believe it is essential in our business to maintain professional relationships with people from a diverse background and have tolerance for those of different beliefs. I have never discussed my faith while broadcasting and it has never been an issue until now.” James’s attorneys at Liberty Institute have sent a demand letter, given exclusively to Breitbart News, to Fox Sports. The letter is embedded below.

So, get over there and check it out.  For me, this is a sign of the times.  The Word warned us of this 2000 years ago…

Mark 13:13  (New International Version)
Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

In the Middle East, Christians are being slaughtered for their faith.  In this country, it is starting with people being forced out of jobs, forced to close businesses, forced to fund abortions, and in some places, forced to participate in them, or lose their jobs as health care providers.  With history as a precedent, it is a matter of time before violence begins.  And, when the MSM refuses to cover it, I will.

Federal Government to Christian Charity, “Stop being Christian”

Share

I’ve said before that instead of Marxism being Godless, it replaces the God of scripture with the far more petty god of the state.   And, it’s happening more and more here in the good old USSA.  See this from Gateway Pundit…

A Christian ministry has been ordered by the Feds to remove all of their religious symbols if they want any federal assistance feeding the poor.

A Florida ministry that feeds the poor said a state agriculture department official told them they would not be allowed to receive USDA food unless they removed portraits of Christ, the Ten Commandments, a banner that read “Jesus is Lord” and stopping giving Bibles to the needy.

It gets worse:

Daly and her staff sat in stunned disbelief as the government agents also informed them that the Christian Service Center could no longer pray or provide Bibles to those in need. The government contract also forbade any references to the ministry’s chapel. [LINK]

Again, the god of the state is a very jealous one, and it cannot tolerate competition, especially from the God of Creation, and his Son.  It might as well say, “Christians need not apply.”

Pope Benedict, The Gang of 8, and Social Justice

Share

When R.S. McCain  emails you and invokes the name of God, you probably ought to listen.  And, since I’ve been trying to closer to the supreme being as of late, I had little choice but to comply.  As for the reasoning for invoking the creator, it seems that the Pope has weighed in on the immigration issue.  R.S. McCain had addressed the immigration concern, so get over to his site and read that part.

In an update, he really knocked it out of the park. He hit on one topic that often infuriates me-social justice…

The duty of Christian charity cannot be transferred to governments, because that not only relieves the individual of his own obligation to charity, but it also encourages an attitude of helpless dependency and entitlement among the poor. “Social justice” thereby becomes a sort of adhesive that glues the poor to the economic floor, where sloth and profligacy are rewarded by government handouts and the lazy are encouraged toward envy of the industrious and thrifty.

I covered this back in 2011…

There has been, in my opinion, a monstrous perversion of Christian teachings.  In order to promote Marxism, a variety of of Christian organizations and denominations have been infiltrated and influenced to promote an anti-Christian message- “social justice.”   Many evangelical groups and the Catholic Church support it as well.   Just take a moment to let that thought percolate.  Would Jesus support Marxism?  Would he support a system that is openly resistant to any God but the state?  Mind you that social justice is nothing more than Marxism renamed, so I have a difficult time accepting that Jesus will support it.

What I do know is that the Bible encourages charity in both Old and New Testaments.  Here’s a random selection of verses.

Deuteronomy 15:7
If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.

Leviticus 25:35
‘If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you.

Psalm 37:25-26
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed.

Psalm 41:1-2
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.

Matthew 6:1-4
“Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

2 Corinthians 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

1 Timothy 6:17-18
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

I will openly admit that I am by no means a theologian.  But what I gather is that charity is to be something personal.  God clearly wants us to be kind to the less fortunate.  I also think that he wants is to do that ourselves.  Note the verses from Matthew and 2 Corinthians; they seem to suggest that not only should giving be an individual decision-without coercion, but is should also be done in an anonymous manner.  Additionally, charity not only improves the status of the poor, but improves the condition of the giver’s soul.  Basically, it is good for all, and pleasing to God.

Let’s contrast that with the concept of social justice.  Essentially, the government, an agent of force, will confiscate from some, and give it to others (after wasting the majority of it in DC).  How does being legally robbed by the government improve your soul, or you as a person?  How does a confiscatory policy help you please your God?  Can giving be defined as charity if you have no choice?  I don’t recall Jesus holding a gun to someone’s head, but Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro and Che certainly did, and in millions of cases, their minions pulled the trigger.

To me, the answer is simple.  Government taxation is NOT charity.  It does nothing for the “giver,” and, as history shows, we spent a trillion dollars in the “War on Poverty,” and ended up with more poverty  I guess our government purchased a trillion dollars worth of poverty. No one bothers to mention that in the war on poverty, poverty won.  And, in fact, the government’s efforts helped poverty win, and will continue to do so.

So then, this destructive and persistent notion of social justice has infected one of the the worlds great institutions.  It is false, and in my opinion, inconsistent with Biblical teachings.

Army Orders Bible References Scraped From Equipment

Share

It would seem that the Obama Military’s war on Christianity continues.  All references to the Bible and God must be removed, so even weapons must be sanitized.  Reagan Coalition has more…

From Opposing Views:

The US Army has ordered troops in Fort Wainwright, Alaska to completely remove Bible verses from their weapon scopes.

The official order reads, “In accordance with included instructions remove the biblical reference from the indicated area of the M150RCO/ACOG. This biblical reference will include, but not be limited to JN8:12 and 2COR4:6.”

These two engravings refer to John 8:12 and Second Corinthians 4:6. The two verses respectively read, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” and “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

When Obama gives a speech, and prominent Christian symbols must be covered, and now, Obama’s military is erasing all evidence of the Bible, and particularly Jesus.  Come to think of it, what does this administration have against Jesus?

A Rebellious Nation

A Rebellious Nation

Isaiah 1 New International Version (NIV)

Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth!
For the Lord has spoken:
“I reared children and brought them up,
but they have rebelled against me.
The ox knows its master,
the donkey its owner’s manger,
but Israel does not know,
my people do not understand.”
Woe to the sinful nation,
a people whose guilt is great,
a brood of evildoers,
children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
and turned their backs on him.
Why should you be beaten anymore?
Why do you persist in rebellion?
Your whole head is injured,
your whole heart afflicted.
From the sole of your foot to the top of your head
there is no soundness—
only wounds and welts
and open sores,
not cleansed or bandaged
or soothed with olive oil.
Your country is desolate,
your cities burned with fire;
your fields are being stripped by foreigners
right before you,
laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.
Daughter Zion is left
like a shelter in a vineyard,
like a hut in a cucumber field,
like a city under siege.
Unless the Lord Almighty
had left us some survivors,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.
10 Hear the word of the Lord,
you rulers of Sodom;
listen to the instruction of our God,
you people of Gomorrah!
11 “The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?” says the Lord.
“I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;
I have no pleasure
in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
12 When you come to appear before me,
who has asked this of you,
this trampling of my courts?
13 Stop bringing meaningless offerings!
Your incense is detestable to me.
New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—
I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
14 Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals
I hate with all my being.
They have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I hide my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
I am not listening.
Your hands are full of blood!
16 Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;
stop doing wrong.
17 Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.[a]
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.
18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land;
20 but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
21 See how the faithful city
has become a prostitute!
She once was full of justice;
righteousness used to dwell in her—
but now murderers!
22 Your silver has become dross,
your choice wine is diluted with water.
23 Your rulers are rebels,
partners with thieves;
they all love bribes
and chase after gifts.
They do not defend the cause of the fatherless;
the widow’s case does not come before them.
24 Therefore the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
the Mighty One of Israel, declares:
“Ah! I will vent my wrath on my foes
and avenge myself on my enemies.
25 I will turn my hand against you;[b]
I will thoroughly purge away your dross
and remove all your impurities.
26 I will restore your leaders as in days of old,
your rulers as at the beginning.
Afterward you will be called
the City of Righteousness,
the Faithful City.”
27 Zion will be delivered with justice,
her penitent ones with righteousness.
28 But rebels and sinners will both be broken,
and those who forsake the Lord will perish.

29 “You will be ashamed because of the sacred oaks
in which you have delighted;
you will be disgraced because of the gardens
that you have chosen.
30 You will be like an oak with fading leaves,
like a garden without water.
31 The mighty man will become tinder
and his work a spark;
both will burn together,
with no one to quench the fire.”

According the DHS and CIAC, We Christians are Taking God and the Bible “too Seriously”

Share

And, the war on Christians continues to ramp up.  The Clash Daily has printed a letter from a Colorado law enforcement officer, who claims to have attended a training provided by CIAC, which is a “fusion center.”  These centers exchange information between state and local law enforcement agencies, and DHS.  We looked at how these centers work back in 2009, when the infamous DHS report was preceded by the equally offenseive MIAC report.  Here is the letter…

From: rtrowbridge@prowerscounty.net To: forknown@hotmail.com Subject: CSP Training Date: Fri, 5 Apr 2013 10:30:22 -0600

On April 1, 2013 I attended training in La Junta, Colorado hosted by the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).  The training was from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm and covered two topics, Sovereign Citizens, and Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.  I was pretty familiar with motorcycle gangs but since we often deal with the so-called sovereign citizen groups I was interested to see what they had to say.  The group consisted of police officers, deputies, and CSP troopers.  There were about 20 people in attendance.

Trooper Joe Kluczynski taught a 2-hour section on sovereign citizens.  Kluczynski spent most of his two hours focusing on how, in his view and apparently the view of Homeland Security, people turn to the sovereign citizen movement.  Kluczynski started off by saying there are probably some sovereign citizens in this room and gave a generalized list of those groups that have sovereign citizen views.  Among those groups, Kluczynski had listed, were those who believe America was founded on godly principles, Christians who take the Bible literally, and “fundamentalists”.  Kluczynski did not explain what he meant by “fundamentalists” but from the context it was clear he was referring again to those who took the Bible literally or “too seriously.”

While Kluczynski emphasized that sovereign citizens have a right to their beliefs, he was clearly teaching that the groups he had listed should be watched by law enforcement and should be treated with caution because of their potential to assault law enforcement.  Kluczynski explained why he believed these groups were dangerous saying they were angry over the election of a black president.  When someone in the group suggested the failing economy was probably much more to blame, Kluczynski intimated that those who are not going along with the changes in America will need to be controlled by law enforcement.  Kluczynski even later questioned some of the troopers present if they were willing and prepared to confiscate “illegal” weapons if ordered to.

Kluczynski’s assignment with the CSP was an Analyst for the Colorado Information Analysis Center, (CIAC).  CIAC is funded by Homeland Security funds and run by the CSP.  Kluczynski said he gets his information from the Department of Homeland Security.  Kluczynski said he was leaving the CSP at the end of that week (March 29, 2013) to begin his new career with Homeland Security.  I thought he was perfect for the job.

The linked article at the Clash Daily, linked above, has much more information, and I recommend you check it out.

So, this shows all the hallmarks of the last report.  There are targets to be smeared.  The smear is to link normal patriotic Americans with hate groups, racists, and extremists.  Then, when the time comes to round up the enemies of the state, authorities are properly and sufficiently propagandised to ignore the truth and follow orders.  Then again, planting the seed in law enforcement’s heads that Christians might be interested in assaulting them might make officers want to “shoot first and ask questions later.” At least that’s the idea.  Our leftists tend to underestimate the strength and determination of real people, so many will remain solidly on the side of law.  Hopefully there will be enough.

And, as I predicted in 2009, how long will it take before DHS is echoing the CIAC  training materials?

Are Those Who Believe in Traditional or Christian Beliefs Now to be Contemned?

Share

Although I know that I risk the wrath of the Detroit News and others who would judge me for posting my personal feelings on this issue, I nonetheless have felt compelled to weigh in with some further thoughts about gay marriage that supplement my earlier posting about the Supreme Court having to be very careful with issuing a ruling on this matter that is legitimate.

David Brody, the Christian Broadcasting Network News Chief Political Correspondent, noted in his post Are Evangelicals Now More Scorned than Homosexuals? that:

…Direct from the school of, “Counter-Intuitive Thinking,” I bring you this question: When it comes to the issue of same-sex marriage, are Evangelical Christians actually the ones more ridiculed than homosexuals? In the media’s narrative, you would think that homosexuals are the poor souls who have been banished by society like ugly stepchildren and are now rising to overcome incredible odds.

But what about today? Let’s be honest: If you are a conservative evangelical who believes in the biblical definition of traditional marriage then guess what? You are one of the following: An outcast, a bigot, narrow-minded, a “hater” or all of the above. It’s a different type of ridicule but it’s still ridicule.

The tables have been turned. Evangelicals are now the ugly stepchild. In our American culture today, you can easily make the argument that it is harder to stand for biblical truth than it is to be a supporter of gay marriage in today’s society.

Don’t believe me? Ask Kirk Cameron or Tim Tebow who both have been endlessly ridiculed for stating mainstream biblical positions on marriage and other topics. How about the comments by Chick-fil-A Founder Dan Cathy? Remember his comments in strong support for traditional marriage? He nearly had his head ripped apart by the mainstream media.

Meanwhile, politicians like former Sen. Rick Santorum have been labeled part of a “Jesus-eating cult” (Whatever that means). The list goes on. It happens all the time. Why? Just because evangelicals believe in the biblical definition of marriage? American society and culture may change but the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob does not.

Evangelicals shouldn’t be surprised by any of this. The Bible clearly states that becoming a born-again believer and walking with Jesus will cost you something and you will be treated like an outcast. Luke 21:7 says, “Everyone will hate you because of me.” Matthew 10:22 exclaims, “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” And Luke 6:22 proclaims, “Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.”

Let me be clear: The Brody File believes hate crimes and incendiary talk and bullying against ALL people (gay or straight) is a sin against God Almighty. And Evangelical Christians have fallen short in this area as well, hence the need for a Savior who forgives us and washes our sins away. Still, the level of vitriol by media commentators and others who support the homosexual lifestyle is just going to continue to increase and get more aggressive against Bible-believing evangelicals….

As a public school teacher, I would concur strongly with this- nothing makes students and fellow staff and administration reject you and judge you like expressing mainstream Christian beliefs consistent with the Bible, and nothing makes those same people accept and praise you and reward you like implementing policies and lesson plans and actively promoting beliefs that are rejected by mainstream and traditional Christian teachings.

In our school system, we have clubs and organizations and ‘days’ set aside for promoting and teaching about: homosexuality, not bullying or teasing those who promote homosexuality, environmentalism, eastern religions, Harry Potter and anime, diversity (and by diversity I mean exclusively those who believe in homosexuality and promote it), black history, Muslim tolerance, evolution, anti-creationism, and separation of church and state (which is interpreted as anti-Bible teaching). To teach or promote or even talk about mainstream Christian values and beliefs is not allowed in public schools- or in the media or in the newspapers or increasingly in politics. Wrong is now right, and right has now become wrong.

This is not to say that we should not have these days- rather it is to note that we no longer also have days for lessons and promoting: traditional marriage, not bullying or teasing those who promote traditional marriage, growth and productivity and building, western religions, prayer and the Bible, diversity (and by diversity I mean debates and conversation about theological and moral issues from every perspective), history of other sorts, Jewish tolerance, creationism, and the proper role of religion and government in society. To teach or promote or even talk about these values and beliefs above should be part and parcel to public education, journalism discourse, and politics today- and yet these are the very beliefs and teachings that apparently will make you and outcast and hated in today’s society. And this is wrong.

Let’s work towards and promote a society that is loving and caring and supportive of God’s word and traditional Christian beliefs- and tolerant of and knowledgeable of and accepting of other beliefs and religions as well. This culture of hate- from one side or another- and promotion of values and beliefs- from one side or another- surely can’t be consistent with the desires of a loving and caring God.

Making Right Choices in the Face of Temptation

Share

Have you ever noticed that when you are making great strides to be closer to the Lord, the more Satan attacks you and tempts you in your weakest areas? Satan does not want us to mature in our Christian walk. He does not want us to become like Christ and be holy.

I don’t believe he is too worried when we go to church once a week and maybe attend a Bible study every now and then and read a devotional and say a short prayer once a day. But when we begin to allow Christ to transform us and we start listening and obeying Christ and spending more time praying, reading Scripture and sharing Christ with others, Satan brings out all his arsenal against us and he knows exactly where we are the weakest.

The gospel scripture this coming Sunday, the first Sunday of Lent, is Luke 14:1-13 where Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit and led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days and while there, tempted by Satan. Satan knows that Jesus is about to begin His ministry to save mankind from their sins, so he goes on the attack. 1 John 2:16 says that we are tempted in three ways – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride of life (boasting of what we have and do). Jesus also was tempted in all three of these areas. First, Satan tried to get him to turn the stones into bread (the lust of the flesh). Second, Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offered him power and glory (lust of the eyes). Last, Satan tried to convince Jesus to throw himself off the parapet of the temple because he is God, the son, and the angels would protect him (Pride).

In our own life, when the temptations come our way (and they will), we can at least rest in the knowledge that Jesus understands what we are going through. As Hebrew 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin.” I don’t know about you, but that comforts me. Even when we fail and give in to the temptation, Jesus understands our weakness and is ready and willing to forgive us.

When reading all the Scriptures that are for this coming Sunday (Deuteronomy 26:4-10, Psalm 91, Romans 10:8-13 and Luke 4:1-13), I like to find a common theme that ties them all together for our growth and enlightenment. In Deuteronomy, when the Israelites needed help in their affliction, they called out to God and God heard their cry. In Psalm 91, it says, “I will be with him in distress; I will deliver him and glorify Him.” But the whole Psalm is about the Lord being with us in times of trouble. In Romans 10:8-13, the words, “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” jumps out at me because when Jesus was tempted, he used Scripture to answer Satan. “IT IS WRITTEN”!

James 4:7-8 says, “Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Ephesians 6:14-18 says, “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occassions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Finally we need to remember, 1 Corinthians 10:13, No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Temptations will be a part of our life until Jesus brings us out of this world and brings us into the Promised Land, our home in Heaven. We need to stay alert, keep our eyes and hearts on Jesus, and hide his Word (Scripture) in our heart. That means we need to memorize Scripture. I think it would be a great habit to start this Lent season and to continue throughout this year and years to come – to memorize one verse a week.

Thank you, Lord for all your love and mercies. Glory be, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be, world without end. Amen.

Piers Morgan Promotes Himself to God: Demands Bible be Amended

Share

Unfortunately, Piers Morgan’s self promotion to turn the Holy Trinity into a quartet did not go through, and he remains at his current station: officious twitApparently, Morgan had a double portion of his “unwarranted self importance flakes” prior to doing this interview...

So, Piers Morgan promotes himself to being God, because HE thinks that HE knows what should be in the Bible.

The Bible answers…

2 Timothy 3:16

New International Version (NIV)

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

But, as we all know, Mr. Morgan is a far higher authority than God.  Then again, isn’t that hallmark of our leftist friends?  They are the highest arbiters of fairness, tolerance, diversity and democracy.  But, unlike God, our leftist friends don’t actually have to live by what they espouse.

How about that!

Chik-Fil-A Being Punished for Being Christian, Just as Predicted

Share

Last November, I predicted that Chik-Fil-A would eventually be punished for their Christian beliefs.  Apparently, it is now time for the punishment to begin.  First up, they have lost the Muppets….

However, on Friday, the Jim Henson Company posted  the following statement to their Facebook page :

The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/ )

With this, The Jim Henson Company joins the ranks of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, who has vowed to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the city, office star Ed Helms  who tweeted  that the chain had “lost a loyal fan,” and the countless individuals who have taken to social media  to voice disapproval, including those planning a National Same Sex Kiss Day  on August 3, in condemning the Chick-Fil-A’s CEO’s opposition to same sex marriage.

Now, officials from that bastion of tolerance and diversity, Chicago, has chimed in as well…

“If you are discriminating against a segment of the community, I don’t want you in the 1st Ward,” Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday, referring to what he said were “bigoted, homophobic comments” from Cathy.

Whoa, whoa, pump the breaks there, “Joe.” Let’s rewind a bit and see what Cathy actually said: “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

Cathy also said the following [via Ken Coleman Show]:

I think we‘re inviting God’s judgment when we shake our fist at him, you know? “We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.”

And I pray on God’s mercy on our generation, that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try and redefine what marriage is all about.

“Because of this man’s ignorance, I will now be denying Chick-fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward,” said the alderman.

OK then, because Chik-Fil-A’s CEO believes in the Bible, they can be banned?  Is it just me, or does it seem that there is great grounds for a religious discrimination suit here?  And, if there is a single business owned by a Muslim in the 1st Ward, is that a equal protection suit as well?   As we all know, the Koran calls for the stoning of homosexuals, and it is common practice in Islamic nations.  So, can they ban one business for religious beliefs, but allow another?

In  the most basic sense, as a Christian, I know this kind of thing is going to happen.  In fact, the Bible predicts it…

“Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.

Luke Chapter Six, Verse 22

In a political sense, it is a common theme for the left, or any totalitarian system.  In such systems, dissent is outlawed.  For people that call for tolerance, they certainly do not tolerate any opinion but their own.  It’s the Alinsky Method; demonize any dissent, so it should be predictable.  And, we should expect more and more of it.

Oh, and get over the Stacey’s place to see why It’s Homophobolicious!

Great Moments in Civil Discourse: Best not Believe in the Bible, Ya Hear?

Share

Do you believe in the Bible?   Do you think that it is the literal word of God?  If so, you are likely a hateful monster that fervently desires the death of others.  At least that’s what our leftist friends would tell us.  After all, that’s what happened to Kirk Cameron, who was recently interviewed on CNN.  Here is an excerpt.

Needless to say, Cameron, in his calm discussion of sin, created a crapstorm of controversy and hate.

Cameron’s calm answer explaining his view that marriage “was defined by God a long time ago … one man, one woman for life” has drawn a firestorm of criticism from fellow celebrities, homosexual organizations and even rock musician Nikki Sixx, who blasted Cameron as “a–hole of the week” for his answer, and Roseanne Barr, who called Cameron “an accomplice to murder with his hate speech.”

When one compares the tone and delivery of Cameron, with the hateful comments of his critics, I think you’ll see the contrasts.

Cameron responded…

“In a recent interview about my film, “Monumental,” I was asked to share my views on homosexuality, gay marriage and abortion,” Cameron says. “I spoke as honestly as I could, but some people believe my responses were not loving toward those in the gay community. That is not true. I can assuredly say that it’s my life’s mission to love all people.

“The only way to properly answer these kind of questions is to begin the discussion with another question: Is life and sexuality sacred or are they not?” he continues. “If they are, then God has something to say about these things. If not, then everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter.

“I believe that freedom of speech and freedom of religion go hand-in-hand in America,” he continues. “I should be able to express moral views on social issues – especially those that have been the underpinning of Western civilization for 2,000 years – without being slandered, accused of hate speech and told from those who preach ‘tolerance’ that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I’m in the public square.

“In any society that is governed by the rule of law, some form of morality is always imposed. It’s inescapable,” Cameron asserts. “But it is also a complicated subject, and that is why I believe we need to learn how to debate these things with greater love and respect.

Rather than debate the content, I like to look at the process.  I think it’s very easy to get lost in the details, or the emotions involved the topics themselves.  However, when you look at the processes involved-the methodology used, you get a very different picture of how the various “participants” operate.  You see Cameron calmly stating his opinion, then, you see the rather nasty reaction.  And, you see, as Cameron points out, that those that preach tolerance are not, in actuality, tolerant.

In another context, who is their quarrel with?  Is Cameron the enemy, or is Cameron’s “boss” the one to fight?  Is this yet another example of  people rebelling against God?  And, since they cannot get at God, so they’ll attack his followers?  Either way, it again shows us how the political and cultural left operates:  tolerance is free to all that agree with them.  To attack an “apostate” from the liberal church is perfectly fine.  Followers of Jesus are not under the umbrella if “tolerance,” or “diversity.”  They are to be attacked, silenced, discredited, and maligned. It kinda makes you think to aks who our leftist “friends” are really serving, doesn’t it?

“Tolerance and Diversity” on Display: Biblical Stance on Homosexuality Bullying?

Share

Ah, the left.  They live in a land of duckies and bunnies, with unicorns that fart rainbows.  And, if you ask them, they are by far the most tolerant, diverse, and loving people in all of the world…unless, that is, you disagree with them.  For those that have a different point of view, or have the audacity to engage in dissent, all pretenses of “tolerance” disappears.  Dissenters are ridiculed, accused, accosted, punished, and sometimes physically attacked.  For, you see, tolerance is a one way street for our liberal friends.  For the latest example of this “tolerance,” we have to look at the story of a student that based an op-ed on, of all things, the Bible!

A 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who wrote an op-ed opposing gay adoptions was censored, threatened with suspension and called ignorant by the superintendent of the Shawano School District, according to an attorney representing the child.

Wegner, a student at Shawano High School, was asked to write an op-ed for the school newspaper about whether gays should be allowed to adopt. Wegner, who is a Christian, wrote in opposition. Another student wrote in favor of allowing gays to adopt.

Wegner used Bible passages to defend his argument, including Scripture that called homosexuality a sin.

After the op-ed was published, a gay couple whose child attend s the high school, complained.

The school immediately issued an apology – stating Wegner’s opinion was a “form of bullying and disrespect.”

“Offensive articles cultivating a negative environment of disrespect are not appropriate or condoned by the Shawano School District,” the statement read. “We sincerely apologize to anyone we may have offended and are taking steps to prevent items of this nature from happening in the future.”

So, the student writes an op-ed, in what seems to be a point-counterpoint format, with another student.  That might have been OK, but the student had the nerve to disagree with liberal doctrine.  But, what the school then allegedly did was more outrageous…

But Staver said what the school system did next was absolutely outrageous. He said the 15-year-old was ordered to the superintendent’s office where he was subjected to hours of meetings and was accused of violating the school’s bullying policy.

“The superintendent called him ignorant and said he had the power to suspend him,” Staver said. “He’s using his position to bully this student. This is absolutely the epitome of intolerance.”

Staver said the boy’s parents were never notified.

At one point, Staver said the superintendent gave him a chance to say he regretted writing the column.

“When Mr. Wegner stated that he did not regret writing it, and that he stood behind his beliefs, Superintendent Carlson told him that he ‘had got to be one of the most ignorant kids to try to argue with him about this topic,’” Staver said.

At that point, Staver said the superintendent told the boy that “we have the power to suspend you if we want to.”

The superintendent allegedly told Wegner that he was personally offended by Wegner’s column.

So, it appears that the kid was removed, taken to the superintendent, to “convince” him to apologize for his position.  In actuality, it appears that the school tried to bully the kid for taking a biblical stance on a social issue.  This is a familiar pattern:  liberals decided that they are infallible, and any disagreement with them is “hate.”  Then, once someone engages in “hate,” liberals can engage in real hate to punish the dissenter.  It is yet another manifestation of the leftist tendency to control, subjugate, and otherwise engage in tyranny.  In this case, over thought itself.

We also now have to add that anti-bullying rules at schools are going to be used against Christians, Jews, or anyone else that dares to cite the Word in schools.  People should be warned, but, at the same time, be bold, and refuse to back down from the schools, or any other servants of the really bad guy that resides down below.

And your kids are in public school why?

Outrageous Double Standard: US Military Burns Bibles

Share

Apparently Don’t ask and Don’t tell extends to religion as well as sexual preference, at least in Afghanistan. In light of the administrations efforts to quash the 1st Amendment rights of a Florida pastor who wanted to burn Korans I thought it appropriate to revive this story you probably never heard anyway.

Here is the transcript of the above video:

May 20, 2009 The Situation Room.

BLITZER: Meanwhile, the U.S. military is caught in a raging controversy over bibles that were burned. Some Christian groups are furious that Americans were involved in what they consider to be an unthinkable act right in the midst of a war against religious extremism in Afghanistan.

Brian Todd is here in THE SITUATION ROOM.

You’ve been digging on this story because it’s pretty shocking.

BRIAN TODD, CNN CORRESPONDENT: It is, Wolf. And it speaks to the very delicate and often dangerous balance that U.S. commanders face in war zones — books that are holy to the majority of U.S. service members burned in the name of protecting them.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

TODD (voice-over): Bibles written in Pashtun and Dari, the two most common Afghan languages — bibles sent by a church to a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan, bibles that were later burned by the U.S. government. These holy books were confiscated about a year ago at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

An independent film aired by the Al Jazeera Network had shown Evangelical soldiers worshipping at Bagram and talking about ways to share their faith.

(VIDEO CLIP)

TODD: But military rules forbid troops of any religion from proselytizing while in Afghanistan. And U.S. officials were concerned that the bibles would be used to try to convert Afghans to Christianity.

A U.S. military spokesman tells CNN, that kind of religious outreach could have provoked a violent backlash against Americans in this devoutly Muslim nation.

But in trying not to offend the Muslim population there, the military seems to have offended some Christians. The president of a Christian group called Open Doors USA is quoted as saying: “It really should shake the core of every Christian to realize that bibles are being burned.”

A military analyst, who’s also a Pentagon adviser, agrees.

LT. COL. ROBERT MAGINNIS (RET.), MILITARY ANALYST: There’s no need to burn the bibles. They could have been shipped back. Just imagine if we were to — you know, the same United States military were to take a bunch of Korans and burn them. I can imagine the — the ramifications across the world.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

TODD: Could those bibles have been shipped back?

Well, the military says, not really. A military spokesman tells us they worried that the church that had sent them would turn around and send them to another organization in Afghanistan, giving the impression that they’d been distributed by the U.S. government. So the decision was made to throw the bibles away.

And in war zones, U.S. troops are required to burn their trash. A U.S. military spokesman says they understand the sensitivities of Christians here, that this was not an easy decision, but they had to do this force protection — Wolf.

BLITZER: Is there any indication that any of these bibles were actually distributed to the local population?

TODD: The military says they have no evidence so far that the bibles made it off of Bagram Air Force Base. The soldier who had gotten them did not know that he was not supposed to distribute them. A military chaplain on base corrected that soldier and confiscated the bibles. As far as they know, they never made it off the base.

BLITZER: Brian Todd, thanks very much for that story.

You have to ask yourself when Obama, Hilary, Petraeus, Gates, the FBI and who knows who else can lean on this pastor, what will be next? Who will be next? What won’t you be able to say? I am just asking here as I am more than a little concerned.

Jesus Rises from the Dead
FROM MATTHEW 28:1-7 (NLT)
Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to see the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, because an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled aside the stone and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.

Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He has been raised from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now go quickly and tell his disciples he has been raised from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember, I have told you.”

Jesus Appears to the Women
FROM MATTHEW 28:8-10 (NLT)
The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to find the disciples to give them the angel’s message. And as they went, Jesus met them. “Greetings!” he said. And they ran to him, held his feet, and worshiped him. The Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”

Some thoughts to ponder.  Happy Easter!
