A Christmas Joke:

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

‘In honor of this holy season’ Saint Peter said, ‘You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.’

The Englishman fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on.

‘It’s a candle’, he said.

‘You may pass through the pearly gates’ Saint Peter said.

The Scotsman reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys.

He shook them and said, ‘They’re bells.’

Saint Peter said ‘You may pass through the pearly gates’.

The Irishman  started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women’s panties.

St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, ‘And just what do those symbolize?’

The paddy  replied, ‘These are Carols.’

And So The Christmas Season
Begins……

One beautiful December evening Pedro and his girlfriend

Rosita were sitting by the side of the ocean.

It was a romantic full moon, when Pedro said,

“Hey, mamacita, let’s play Weeweechu.”

“Oh no, not now, lets look at the moon” said Rosita.

“Oh, c’mon baby, let’s you and I play Weeweechu.

“I love you and it’s the perfect time,” Pedro begged.

“But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon.”

“Please, corazoncito, just once, play Weeweechu with me.”

Rosita looked at Pedro and said, “OK, one time, we’ll play Weeweechu.”

Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang…..

“Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,”

“Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,”

“Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Target Identity Theft Case Now Involving Other Retailers

Share

It appears that the theft of credit card data at Target over the past Christmas season was not isolated.  KDKA has more on the widening case of identity theft…

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — After upping the number of customers affected by its credit card information theft — from 40 to 70 million — Target says it’s doing everything it can to protect its shoppers through its zero liability policy.

“Zero liability is zero liability, which means that Target is paying for any fraudulent, any possible fraudulent activity on anybody’s credit card,” Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel said on CNBC.

On Monday morning, Attorney General Kathleen Kane warned that scammers are using the logo of Target on websites and emails to try to get consumers to send very personal information.

Kane says she and other state attorney generals have urged target to do everything it can to protect customers.

The warning comes as Neiman Marcus confirmed it, too, had its credit card information breached, and now Reuters reports three other well-known, but still unnamed retailers have been victimized just like Target.

Cyber security expert Sean Henry thinks they all may be linked and originating in eastern Europe.

So, be careful with your data.  It strikes me that that cash only transactions might be a good idea.  Identity theft can happen at any time.

War on Christmas Aftermath, VA Refuses Christmas Cards, Christmas Carols, Military Bans Mere Mention of Christmas

Share

Just remember folks, any good liberal will tell you that there is no “War on Christmas.” So, in the spirit of disclosure, here are three stories that most certainly did not happen.

Boys and girls at Grace Academy in Prosper, Tex., spent most of last Friday making homemade Christmas cards for bedridden veterans at the VA hospital in Dallas.

But the bedridden veterans at the VA hospital will never get to see Gracie’s card. Nor will they see the cards made by 51 other students. That’s because the Christmas cards violated VA policy.

“It really didn’t occur to me there would be a problem with distributing Christmas cards,” said Susan Chapman, a math teacher at the academy. She’s married to a veteran and volunteers with the American Legion and other veterans’ organizations.

On Monday morning the boys and girls were planning on hand delivering the cards to the wounded veterans. Chapman called the hospital to make final arrangements and that’s when she learned there was a problem.

“I told him my students made cards, we’d like to bring them down for the veterans,” Chapman told the television station. “And he said, ‘That’s great. We’re thrilled to have them, except the only thing is, we can’t accept anything that says ‘Merry Christmas’ or ‘God bless you’ or any scriptural references because of all the red tape.'”

A VA official quoted the policy which is in the Veterans Health Administration handbook:

“In order to be respectful of our veterans’ religious beliefs, all donated holiday cards are reviewed by a multi-disciplinary team of staff led by chaplaincy services and determined if they are appropriate (non-religious) to freely distribute to patients. We regret this process was not fully explained to this group and apologize for any misunderstanding.”

So, to respect the religious beliefs of the soldiers, religious cards are banned.  Because, as we all know, nothing says “I respect something” like banning it, right?

For our second story, the VA teaches children that singing Christmas Carols is bad, very, very bad…

From the Augusta Chronicle

The angels will not be heard on high, nor will the little Lord Jesus sleep in heavenly peace at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.

The Augusta hospital announced Monday that it’s taking a stricter stance on its policy banning carolers from singing religious Christmas music in public patient areas.

Last week, the facility prevented a group of high school students from Augusta’s Alleluia Community School from singing to its veterans a number of traditional holiday tunes that honor and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, such as Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful.

“Military service veterans, male and female, represent people of all faiths,” hospital spokesman Brian Rothwell said in a statement. “It is out of respect for every faith that The Veterans Administration gives clear guidance on what ‘spiritual care’ is to be given and who is to give it.”

Alleluia Community School Principal Dan Funsch said he was sad to hear that the Veterans Affairs hospital’s “spiritual care” grants holiday exemption only to Frosty, Rudolph and the secular characters that make up the 12 Days of Christmas.

“This is not a religious proselytizing, evangelistic issue,” said Funsch, arguing that Christmas songs are broadcast during the holidays on area radio stations and in local retail outlets. “The song Joy to the World is as much a part of the holiday spirit as the Christmas tree.”

Funsch said the peculiar part of the policy is its recent enforcement.

Rothwell could not provide the date the VA’s ban on religious Christmas songs took effect, but Funsch said that in 2011 and 2012 his students were welcomed without hesitation at the Augusta VA’s Uptown campus as part of a yearly caroling the school does on its last day of classes before the holiday break.

Once again, the VA apparently thinks that the best way to “respect” religious beliefs is to ban any reference to them.

Then again simply referencing Christmas cannot be tolerated.  You know, for tolerance!

Merry Christmas! Unless you are in the Army. Then you are supposed to make do with an insipid happy holiday:

Two weeks ago, a routine meeting was held at the Mississippi base with various leaders of the 158th Infantry Brigade. During the meeting, they discussed an upcoming Christmas football tournament. The equal opportunity officer immediately objected to the usage of the word “Christmas.”

“Our equal opportunity representative stopped the briefing and told us that we can’t say Christmas,” the soldier told me. “Almost the entire room blew up. Everybody was frustrated. The equal opportunity rep told our commander that not everyone celebrates Christmas and we couldn’t say Christmas celebration. It had to be holiday celebration.”

Also, please be advised that these events simply did not happen.  Liberals said so, so the science is settled.  If you witness or experience religious discrimination, you are a crazy racist teabagger.

Get it, hater?

Merry Christmas!  Here is the reason for the season, so to speak…

2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2:2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

2:3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

2:5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

2:17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

2:18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

2:20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Have a great Christmas!

NORAD Tracks Santa: 2013

Share

For over five decades, NORAD has tracked Santa for children all over the US, and now, the world.

For more than 50 years, NORAD and its predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) have tracked Santa’s flight.

The tradition began in 1955 after a Colorado Springs-based Sears Roebuck & Co. advertisement misprinted the telephone number for children to call Santa. Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations “hotline.” The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and a tradition was born.

In 1958, the governments of Canada and the United States created a bi-national air defense command for North America called the North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as NORAD, which then took on the tradition of tracking Santa.

Since that time, NORAD men, women, family and friends have selflessly volunteered their time to personally respond to phone calls and emails from children all around the world. In addition, we now track Santa using the internet. Millions of people who want to know Santa’s whereabouts now visit the NORAD Tracks Santa website.

Finally, media from all over the world rely on NORAD as a trusted source to provide updates on Santa’s journey.

Kids, you can keep track of Santa by going to the NORAD tracks Santa website.  There are games, videos, and the tracking information for Santa.  Just don’t stay up too late!

Merry Christmas!

Sunday Links: Christmas Commercial Edition Revisited

Share

linkflag

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re going to continue our Christmas theme for the link post. Last week, we had a collection of Christmas songs, in the week prior to that, we had some vintage Christmas commercials. I’m going to go back to the Christmas commercials and give you an entirely different set. This time, were to go farther back in time, as well as into the 90s into the 21st century. This is my favorite time of year, and I can literally not get enough of this stuff. I hope you feel the same way.

It is also perfect opportunity to give another mention to two new contributors here at the Conservative Hideout. The first is Steve, from Cry and Howl. The other is Teresa, from TeresAmerica. Continue to watch for their material, and I’m sure that you’ll agree that they are wonderful additions to the Conservative Hideout team.

So, without further ado, here are the links, including some more vintage Christmas commercials. Enjoy!

Sunday LInks: Vintage Christmas Commercial Edition

Share

Well, we are in the Christmas season, aren’t we? Of course, as we’ve covered this week, there are a lot of liberals that don’t want that Jesus guy mentioned at all.  But, we won’t have that problem here.

Its time for the vintage Christmas commercial edition.  I do this every year, because, like so many other people, Christmas brings out so many warm memories of my childhood.  I was blessed with good parents that protected me and saw that holidays were happy times.  So, let’s go back to a simpler time, and enjoy some vintage Christmas and toy commercials!

That one is for my family, as we joke about it every year.

Nichols Elementary School of Frisco Texas Bans Christmas Trees, and Even the Colors Red and Green UPDATED!

Share

culture war

Apparently, the supposedly non-existent “war on Christmas” has another example of Christmas being banned.  Nichols Elementary School in Frisco Texas has not only banned Christmas trees, but even the colors red and green have fallen to the censor’s ax.  FOX News has more…

Boys and girls who attend the Nichols Elementary School “Winter Party” will not be able to make any reference to Christmas or any other religious holiday. Christmas trees are also banned – along with the colors red and green.

The rules were sent to parents in an email from the school’s PTA and first reported on by MyFoxDFW.com

Ironically, the school is located in the district of state Rep. Pat Fallon, the author of a bill signed into law in June that codifies the fact that students and staff are permitted to discuss winter holidays as they please.
Fallon tells me he was alerted by an angry parent.

“When Gov. Perry signed ‘The Merry Christmas Bill,’ clearly that didn’t solve the issue,” he said. “The battle rages on. It’s distressing.”

The school district released a statement to MyFoxDFW.com noting:

“The school was unaware of this and it was not an official PTA correspondence either. There have never been any limitations on what students wear, what they bring to share with their classmates on party days … what greetings people exchange with each other.”

So, they said there was a ban.  Then they said there was no ban.  Then, they were back to a ban…

Fallon said the ban on Christmas trees and traditional holiday colors remains in place and calls it “unnecessary, inappropriate, and quite frankly draconian in nature.”

However, after a meeting between the principal and the PTA, the school decided to keep the draconian rules in place.

“She [the principal] said they didn’t want to offend any families and since each family donates money they feel this is the best policy,” read an email sent to the lawmaker.

What about all the families who might be offended by not being able to call Christmas, Christmas?

So, confusing it is, but even is Texas passed a law permitting Christmas, the liberals will ban it anyway.

Did you ever think we’d see the day that we needed a law to permit us to celebrate Christmas?

Then again, this in only an extension of the fight between good and evil.  And we should always remember that evil cheats.

Update:  There is still a great deal of confusion.

Dallas News | myFOXdfw.com
And Twitter user Laurie Guthrie sent me this…

December 5, 2013

Dear Nichols Elementary Parents,

Fox 4 News reported yesterday that Nichols Elementary and Nichols PTA were not supporting the newly passed Texas Merry Christmas law which protects the rights of Texans to celebrate all traditional winter holidays in public schools.

Nichols PTA categorically denies any stance denying our students and families their right to celebrate any winter holiday. No official correspondence was issued by Nichols PTA Executive Board, the only party authorized to speak on behalf of Nichols PTA, regarding which holidays may or may not be represented in our school, nor was any such correspondence authorized.

Mrs. Murphy, our principal, also spoke at our November 19, 2013  PTA meeting stating that all holidays may be celebrated and represented in our school. She specifically stated that the phrase, “Merry Christmas” and any other traditional holiday phrase is permitted and encouraged at Nichols Elementary.

Many holidays are celebrated by Nichols families at this time of year. Our December celebration is called a “Winter Party” in an effort to include all holidays celebrated in our Nichols community. All children are allowed and encouraged to represent any holiday they choose at this event by saying, “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Hannukah,” “Happy Kwanzaa,” or any other traditional phrase, by wearing any holiday attire they choose, or any other form of expression. Our effort is focused on allowing all children to celebrate any winter holiday without excluding anyone.

Nichols PTA is committed to representing and serving all of our members and families. If you have any further questions regarding Nichols PTA or our holiday celebration, please contact Publicity@MyNicholsPTA.org.

So, the question remains, which is true, what the school and PTA sent to the parents, or what they are saying now?  Or, did a atheist group pull a false flag and send the email forbidding Christimas?  Hopefully, we get an answer.

Brooklet Elementary School Bans Christmas Cards

Share

Well, it appears that even Christmas cards are off limits in at least one school.  The Brooklet Elementary School in Georgia said, “nyet comrade” to Christmas Cards this year.

For as long as anyone can remember, teachers at Brooklet Elementary School have posted Christmas cards in the hallways outside their classrooms – until Monday.

When boys and girls returned from Thanksgiving break, they discovered that their teachers’ Christmas cards had been removed – under orders from the Georgia school’s administration.

Robb Kicklighter’s wife is a third grade teacher at the school. He said many teachers are disgruntled by the school’s decision to confiscate the Christmas cards.

“They took down the cards so the kids can’t see them,” he told me. “Some of the cards had the word ‘Christmas’ and some had Nativity scenes.”

Kicklighter said the cards were put behind an office door so only teachers could access them.

“It’s really sad because the students looked forward to seeing those homemade Christmas cards every year,” he said. “It’s stirred a lot conversation. This has been a tradition and the kids are wondering what happened to the cards.”

The Christmas card censorship comes as the Bulloch County Board of Education cracks down on religious expression in their schools.

Teachers have been ordered to remove any religious icons or items from their classrooms – ranging from Bibles to Christian music.

Teachers have also been instructed to avoid student-led prayers at all costs. Should they be in a room where students are praying, teachers have been ordered to turn their backs on their students.

“It’s an attack on Christianity,” Kicklighter said. “It seems like every time we turn around, someone is offended.”

So, we again are confronted with the systematic removal of all things Christian from a public school  Of course, a #Freekate supporter says that this is just a “conspiracy.”

conspiracy

After all, if a #FreeKate supporter says it, it must be true, right?
