Education: Our Greatest Battle?  And I fear we have already lost.

This is an article that I had commented on for another site some time ago. I thought that given the current climate of “change,” it might be a good idea to re-visit it. The article is eight years old, however, it seems to echo what is going on today.

From the August 2001 Idaho Observer:

Why Our Schools Teach Socialism

By Joe Larson

Congratulations America: Today there are over 10,000 openly marxist professors and thousands of humanist professors controlling the universities and colleges that produce America’s teachers and other professionals. Varying forms of marxist-humanism are the predominant philosophies of the educational establishment; yet we repeatedly send our most precious gift (our children) off to them for “education” (indoctrination).

Today’s schools are filled with sex education, political correctness, environmental extremism, global unity, diversity training (pro-homosexuality) and higher order thinking skills [HOTS]; which boldly claim that to become a higher order thinker one must first believe the fact that there are no absolutes, absolutely! “The Greatest Story Ever Told” based on the greatest book ever written, “The Holy Bible,” about the greatest teacher who ever lived, Jesus, is not allowed, let alone used, in the schools of America. The Bible was America’s first textbook; yet today it is referred to as a book of fables.

Our schools are filled with violence, murder, extortion, rape, unwanted pregnancy, drug use, disrespect, foul language, declining test scores and children who cannot read. While the pontificators wonder why, God doesn’t; He knows – Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. I will also reject thee seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God; I will also forget thy children.” Verse 7 says, “As they were increased, so they sinned against Me: Therefore, will I change their glory into shame.”

The problem with America’s educational system began with the birth of socialism and given impetus by federal government involvement. Lenin, one of the world’s leading experts on socialism, tells us – “Communism is socialism in a hurry.” Socialism, therefore, is communism by gradualism rather than by revolution. The socialist “Fabian Society,” the forerunner of most socialist groups in America, had as their motto “Make Haste Slowly.” “Democratic Socialism” became the battle cry to socialize the United States of America. The socialists’ goal was to “permeate and penetrate,” then control this nation from deep within. Their first target in America was our children through public instruction.

In the U.S. their followers would use language as their first line of attack and deceit. They would wear no badge nor socialist label, but were to call themselves “liberal,” “progressive” and even “moderate.” Words were the weapon of choice for this new war. By changing and shifting word meanings the socialists could cover their true purpose. Everything would be done under the banners of “reform” and “social justice,” suggesting all was for the public good, for humanitarian reasons, for true democracy — and finally — for the children. The buzzwords of socialism were then, and are today, “social” and “democracy” (i.e. social science, social studies and socialization of the child). Robert Conquest observed, “a communist never does anything under his own name that he can do under someone else’s.”

This is important:  Totalitarians never announce themselves.  They do not come in and say, “Hi, we’re socialists and we’re going to take away your freedoms bit by bit.  We’re going to criminalize your beliefs and your God. We’re going to control every aspect of your live from cradle to grave, and there isn’t a thing you can do about it!” They couch their intentions with pleasant sounding words; they distort and confuse the meanings of their words to make you think “it’s OK.”  How many times do we hear the term “change, reform, progressive?” Or, what of “tolerance, diversity, or fairness?”  “Change” is certainly true (not change we would want), but what of the others?  I think we all know what they really mean.

Regarding the statement, “make haste slowly,” the left does not announce their plans and intentions in full form.  They know that the public would reject them.  Instead, they move incrementally.  They take whatever step they can at a time.  Either by exploiting a crisis, or creating one, they implement their plans step by step.  It will start with some regulations or restrictions, usually in response to some real or invented event or problem.  As time wears on, they add to the regulations or restrictions.  At each phase, the politicians and media assures the public that it’s just some small sacrifices that they’re making, and the government doesn’t  really want to take some right or freedom away.  The educational system plays a role here as well.  Since so many children are indoctrinated, they will no know the reasons for the freedoms that we have.  As we have heard, there have been more than a few occasions where children have been threatened with failing grades, ridiculed, or otherwise discriminated against because they had a differing viewpoint.  Too many of these people grow to be adults with absolutely no concept of our system of government.  They don’t recognize that government control always leads to tyranny.  They have no idea that the founders wrote our Constitution to protect our rights from the very things that are happening now.

In the early 1900’s, because of unrest in Europe, thousands of socialists flocked to America for safety. Large numbers held degrees in the fields of psychology, sociology and psychiatry (behavioral sciences, dealing with behavior and [social] change). Many went on to become college and university professors.

Norman Thomas, socialist and member of the Civil Liberties Union, boldly told the world, “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”

Note now that they don’t use the word “liberal.” They now refer to themselves as “progressive.”  How ironic! They use a nice sounding term to describe tyranny.

The story of how the socialists took over the American educational establishment would fill a book; so let us just listen to their own words.

John Dewey, called “the father of modern education,” was an avowed socialist, the co-author of the ‘Humanist Manifesto’ and cited as belonging to fifteen Marxist-front organizations by the Committee on Un-American Activities. Do the words (the father of modern education) now take on new meaning? Remember, Dewey taught the professors who would train America’s teachers. He was obsessed with “the group.” In his own words, “You can’t make socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”

How many of us were taught by our parents, or even our schools, to think for ourselves, be self-reliant, strive to achieve our dreams, be our own person?  Under the system of the future, are these traits illnesses that are to be “treated?” Are we to be replaced by successive generations of subservient drones that have no ability to critically analyze facts, and therefore will never question their masters?

Rosalie Gordon, writing on Dewey’s progressive (socialist) education in her book “What’s Happened To Our Schools,” said, “The progressive system has reached all the way down to the lowest grades to prepare the children of America for their role as the collectivists of the future. The group — not the individual child — is the quintessence of progressivism. The child must always be made to feel part of the group. He must indulge in group thinking and group activity.”

Collectivist = Communists.  Notice how individuality is to be eliminated.  How meaningful are the individual freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution when individuality is to be eliminated? As an update, is it any surprise that the government has been pushing mandatory pre-school? This has nothing to do with education. This is about indoctrination.  They state it plainly themselves.

After visiting the Soviet Union, Dewey wrote six articles on the “wonders” of Soviet education. The School-To-Work system in our public schools (all 50 states) is modeled after the Soviet poly-technical system.

In 1936, the National Education Association stated its position, from which they have never wavered; “We stand for socializing the individual.”

The NEA in its “Policy For American Education” stated, “The major problem of education in our times arises out of the fact that we live in a period of fundamental social change. In the new democracy [we were a Republic] education must share in the responsibility of giving purpose and direction to social change. The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual. Education must operate according to a well-formulated social policy.”

Paul Haubner, specialist for the NEA, tells us, “The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school. That is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. [Christians?] Our (humanistic) goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values.”

Professor Chester M. Pierce, M.D., Professor of Education and Psychiatry at Harvard, has this to say, “Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well — by creating the international child of the future.”

Some politicians agree. Listen to former Senator Paul Hoagland of Nebraska: “The fundamentalist parents have no right to indoctrinate their children in their beliefs. We are preparing their children for the year 2000 and life in a global one-world society and those children will not fit in.”

What then happens to those children that do not “fit in” to this new socialist world?  Many of the readers of this blog have been subject to the indoctrination of the public schools and universities.  We were somehow able to resist and form opinions of our own.  What will become of such people in the “new order?”

In the Humanist Review magazine it was observed that, “Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism. What can a theistic Sunday school’s meeting for an hour once a week and teaching only a fraction of the children do to stem the tide of the five-day program of humanistic teaching?”

P. Blanchard, in ‘The Humanist” 1983, continues: “I think that the most important factor moving us toward a secular society has been the educational factor. Our schools may not teach Johnny how to read properly, but the fact that Johnny is in school until he is 16 tends toward the elimination of religious superstition. The average American child now acquires a high school education, and this militates against Adam and Eve and all other myths of alleged history.”

In a socialist state, there can be no power higher than the state. The concept of God, and for some reason, the Christian God in particular, that has to be eliminated. They won’t say that publicly, but that’s the agenda.  Even for those who aren’t religious, what other ideas might be out of synch with the new worldview?  Once they come for the Christians, who might be next?

John J. Dunphy wrote in the Jan/Feb 1983 edition of The Humanist, “The battle for mankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom. The classroom must and will become the arena of conflict between the old and the new. The rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism.”

Our bureaucrats, politicians and educators are constantly on television blaming either parents or lack of funds for our schools’ dilemmas. The answer is always more money and more government control. For well over 50 years the American voter has believed this line of crap. Victor Gollancz, a famous socialist publisher tells us why he believed that socialism would take over America; “Christians are not exactly bright, so it will be easy for socialism to lead them down the garden path through their ideals of brotherly love and ‘social justice.’”

It’s (past) time that Christian men stand up for their families and their faith and put God back in charge of this nation and it’s schools.

I know, why this now?  I know the ObamaCare plan is oozing its way through Congress.  I know Cap and Trade lurks on the horizon.  Education is already in the hands of the left, and it has been for some time.  We vehemently defend our health care choices and our income, as well we should, but we then forget about our children?  With every successive generation of children going through the public schools, the levels of violence, the lack of ethics, and the lack of knowledge of the average American citizen continues to grow.  Yes, many of us were taught well at home.  We learned lessons of hard work, discipline, integrity, and so forth from our parents and other family members.  But as these new generations are indoctrinated with leftist ideas, there will be fewer and fewer parents able or willing to teach such lessons.  My fear is that, at some time in the future, we will reach a tipping point where people that are honest, have integrity, or are able to think independently will become a small minority.  At that point, the indoctrinated ones will freely give up all the rights that made this nation great, simply because they don’t know the utility of them.  In fact, they will have been taught to despise them.

People that believe in freedom are already the new pariahs for the left.  One only needs to look at the media coverage of the Tea Parties to confirm this.  The drumbeat will only grow.  As it does, the left will continue to indoctrinate more and more children.  We might yet defeat the socialized medicine, and we might prevent passage of Cap and Trade.  Obama may lose hig congressional majorities in 2010.  He might even be defeated in 2012.  But if we continue to give our kids to the government every day, those victories will be temporary, delaying the socialists for a few years to be sure, but in the end, futile.

The Beatles

“A few years ago, I spoke with a 50-something Cuban who left the island recently. We spoke about the repression, censorship of the press and the food shortages. Then he said this: ‘You know one more thing I hate the Castro dictatorship….they denied me The Beatles’” – Silvio Canto Jr.

“Music is the art of thinking with sounds.” – Jules Combarieu

“On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.” – Hunter S. Thompson

“Most people my age are dead at the present time and you can look it up.” – Casey Stengel

Anyone looking to learn about the 1960s, a decade that really started with the Kennedy assassination and ended with the fall of Saigon, those years when most of us young innocents went down the rabbit hole, partied with the Red Queen and became Mad Hatters before we came up for air in 1975, should first listen to the Beatles.  And then read the collected works of P.J. O’Rourke:

O’Rourke says he wasn’t handsome, monied, connected or athletic enough to win the preppy girls who shared his family’s strong Republican views. But the Lefties? Those girls “strummed guitars, smoked unfiltered cigarettes, and drank beer straight from the bottle. I thought: ‘I’ll bet those girls do it.’ They did. I went home at Christmas break with my hair grown long, wearing a blue-jean jacket with a big, red fist emblazoned on the back. My grandmother said: ‘Pat, I’m worried about you. Are you becoming a Democrat?’

”Grandma!” I said. “Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon are both fascist pigs. Of course, I’m not a Democrat… I’m a communist!”

”At least you’re not a Democrat,” said Grandma. (PJ O’Rourke: Whoopsie!/Telegraph UK)

It was a time when purple-hazed weirdness filled the air like pollen in the spring, when millions of us went off to fight communists in Southeast Asia and millions of others joined up with ‘em in the U.S.

In the end, all of us got screwed.  But you can’t blame the Beatles for that.

Liberals Stating That Dissent it Sedition: Calls For the Arrest of Those That Disagree With Totalitarianism

Share

Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, ChiComs, Chavez’s Venezuala, Cuba, Vietnam, to name a few, all had something in common; punishing dissent.

History is filled with regimes that made dissent a crime.  Prisons, concentration camps, gulags, and even psychiatric facilities were filled with people that simply disagreed with the ruling regime.  In fact, it still goes on today.  The reasoning is rather simple.  When the regime is based on socialism, it fails-and to cover up that failure, opponents must be blamed, and punished.  Then, when the opponents are jailed (or killed outright), the failure continues, and other people are then blamed for the ongoing failure.  After all, it has to be someone else’s fault! Any effort to point out the failure, let alone do something to change or prevent the failure, is branded as treason, or sedition.  In other words, to a liberal, you telling the truth is a crime.  Doing your job, and trying to fix the problem amounts to sedition.

Doug Ross (no relation) has quotes from liberal sources that indicate that is some had their way, a lot of us would be sent to some “camps.”

If Democrats regain control of the House, rest assured that your Second Amendment rights will be eviscerated as they very nearly did following the mass shooting by the lunatic in Sandy Hook. Dianne Feinstein — the loathsome and brazen crook from California — had her gun ban bill in place, just waiting for a nice, bloody tragedy to exploit.

These are some truly frightening portents.

Democrats are openly calling for the arrest of Sen. Ted Cruz “for sedition”. Never mind the Constitution explicitly grants the power of the purse to Congress, not the President. Never mind that James Madison himself described that the House could, in fact, shut down any program it wanted to. Never mind all that: the Constitution doesn’t matter to these hard left sixties retreads. They don’t want any political opposition. They want you gone. They want you silent, or in prison, or dead (what do you think Obamacare is really about?).

MSNBC plainly calls lawful dissent “sedition”, presumably punishable by death.

Democrat Congressman Steve Cohen (TN) labels conservatives “domestic enemies”, alluding to presidential actions to secure the country from the Tea Party, veterans, and Constitutional conservatives.

A public MoveOn.org petition calls for the arrests of Republicans in Congress by the Holder DOJ.

These are some dangerous times, my friends.

Larry Jackson, from Political Realities, has some rather insightful commentary…

The first thing that comes to mind is Hillary Clinton and her famous diatribe against George W. Bush.

I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.

Funny thing, this debate and disagreement stuff. It applies to every administration, no matter if the man in the White House is Democrat or Republican. That right is guaranteed us by the United States Constitution, but you can’t tell it by listening to the liberals. The rhetoric and tactics in which they engage should serve as a warning to the rest of us. They have no qualms about attacking someone who disagrees with them, aka Brett Kimberlin. If it doesn’t make you wonder exactly what they are capable of, ie. what they are willing to do to further their agenda, then you might as well stop reading now.

Larry hits it right on the nose.  We have to wonder how far they are will to go, and what measures they are will to tale to reach their goals.  History is a very uncompromising teacher, and it shows, very clearly, that when people or groups state vile intentions, they most often try to follow through on them.  It is up to us, as students of history, to point out these intention, lest people be surprised when they come to fruition.

Make no mistake.  The only thing that separates our regressives from the Nazis and Bolsheviks is the speed at which they operate.  Our regressives have worked for decades at ruining our moral and economic systems.  Rather than a bloody coup de main, they have resorted to a slow process of subversion.  They have met success.  But even though they have operated for decades, violence will still have to be part of their final seizure of power.  then, once their seizure of power  is complete, and their system fails, more violence will be necessary to maintain it.  Any totalitarian system must suppress it’s population.  The regressives will. therefore. follow their fellow travelers.

I know, I don’t pain a pretty picture, but if we shy away, stay silent, and disengage, the bad guys will win, and we will be the first to the wall.

Sadly, the Trayvon Martin Violence Begins: People Attacked, Vandalism, News Crew Attacked

It seems that the usual suspects, Communists, Anarchists, and Occupods, have used the George Zimmerman verdict to do what they do best, act like thugs.  Here is a round up…

LAPD declares citywide tactical alert; Zimmerman protesters storm Walmart

“THIS IS FOR TRAYVON” – THREE BLACK MEN ATTACK WHITE MAN IN MISSISSIPPI, CLAIM JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON

Is this the lesson the anti-verdict crowd wish to teach their children? Is this the policy they wish to see enacted across America?

Apparently for some it is.

Police Chief Steve Holts told Fox News the alleged victim, who is white, was jogging Sunday night along Highway 51 when, he said, the suspects pulled over and ordered him to get inside their car.

“One of them asked, ‘Do you know who Trayvon Martin was?’” Holts quoted the man as saying.  At that point, the men in the vehicle allegedly attacked him.

The man, who the chief described as a young resident of  the area, was treated  at a local hospital.

Memphis television station WREG reported the assailants allegedly told the victim, “This is for Trayvon.” The television station and The Democrat newspaper reported the jogger was badly beaten and later dropped off on a road between Senatobia and Coldwater, Miss.

Really? These three men beat an innocent man for no reason at all? And they call that justice?

Elderly white man Dallas Watts beaten by six juveniles in Ohio while they yelled – THIS IS FOR TRAYVON (Video)

It’s official. ABC, NBC, the pink slime media and the pitiful Congressional Black Caucus wanted a race war in this country, and now it looks like they got it. According to Fox Toledo, 78 year old white man named Dallas Watts was beaten nearly to death by six juveniles who yelled at him “This is for Trayvon.”

Men attack jogger in retaliation of Zimmerman verdict

In the Zimmerman case, Hispanics, whites and whoever else is in the wrong place at the wrong time is getting beaten, and in some cases killed. And yet no group speaks for them. No group is meeting with the muckety-mucks of the Depaertment of Justice.

Police: Men attack jogger in retaliation of Zimmerman verdict July 15, 2013, WMCTV.com

SENATOBIA, MS (WMC-TV) – Police are investigating a physical attack from three men who assaulted a jogger in retaliation of the verdict given in the George Zimmerman trial.

Investigators say it happened on Highway 51 Sunday night near the entrance of the Providence Place apartments.

The men drove up to the jogger and asked questions about Trayvon Martin, according to police. The jogger was then beaten.

Useful Idiots Pushing Earth Day Just the Outer Circle of Death: A Conversation with my Daughter and an Angry Mob of Teachers

Share

When I asked my daughter today what she learned in school today she said

Daddy, today we learned about how people are cutting down all the rain forests to make stuff. And that driving our cars is causing the ice caps to melt and all the polar bears to die. And that it is only going to get worse until we start doing things different.

Notice she didn’t talk to me about how she learned math, reading, or history- and she didn’t mention learning a new sports game, learning about values or morals, or learning how to write computer code. In her first grade class she learned as fact a bunch of propaganda pushed on her by her public school system. And when I talked to a couple other parents about this, they told me to just keep my mouth shut and go along to get along and just accept that this is now what they teach in schools. It isn’t- those sorts of political views and opinions are not in the state standards- but this is what is happening to our next generation- they are being taught to be useful idiots and tools of the communists and pagans who would destroy the traditional America culture and traditions.

This effort must be a systematic effort- my 1st grader in one public school talked this way and also this week I got involved in an email exchange with another teacher at my school who was involved in similar effort to push communism and paganism at our public school.

On Monday our entire staff at our public school was sent an email during the workday over the school email system from another teacher- “Hoping you all have a happy Earth Day and hug a tree today!”

Earth Day is morally and intellectually wrong- the worship of some sort of pagan green God and the pushing of government policies which take away our liberty and property both are offensive to me. Earth Day is just a way for the inner circle of pagan and communist manipulators- evil people- to get the useful idiots in the outer circle to support their agenda, and so any effort to encourage people to engage in this worship and celebration should be rejected. And pagan rituals- hugging a tree- are also to be rejected as they run counter to my faith.

While friends and family suggest that I just keep my mouth shut about stuff like this and go along with it by just nodding along and admitting that 2+2=5, I refuse to. So I replied back to the other teacher at my school- “Please do not email me any more emails pushing this pagan and communist ‘holiday’.”

Apparently I made the other teacher cry with this email, and she showed my email around to the building to other teachers. The next day during my prep hour an angry mob of useful idiots cornered me in my classroom and demanded that I apologize to the teacher and email the entire staff wishing them a Happy Earth Day. They believed that they were morally superior to me and that their faith in the green god gave them a higher calling and that I should recant my questioning of their holiday and do some publicly.

These teachers are useful idiots of the outer circle- unwitting tools and promoters of intellectual ideas that they are clueless about. When I began to talk to them about the intellectual and historical background and reasoning behind their ‘holiday’, they told me that I was just taking it too seriously and that I was wrong for doubting and should just recant and chant with them their slogans. And in the past I may have taken this subject less seriously- see my post Earth Day: A Communist Plot? where I treat as more of a joke their efforts. But in the face of this mob of fools I was struck by how unserious this actually was- that there was a larger and darker and much more serious movement here.

In The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare (Penguin Classics), the famous author G.K. Chesterton described anarchists this way-

This is a vast philosophic movement, consisting of an outer and inner ring. The outer ring- the main mass of their supporters- are merely anarchists; that is, men who believe that rules and formulas have destroyed human happiness. They believe that all the evil results of human crime are the results of the system that has called it a punishment. They do not believe that the crime creates the punishment. They believe that the punishment has created the crime. These people talk about ‘a happy time coming,’ ‘the paradise of the future,’ ‘mankind freed from the bondage of vice and the bondage of virtue,’ and so on.

And so also the men of the inner circle speak. But in their mouths these happy phrases have a horrible meaning. They are under no illusions; they are too intellectual to think that man upon this earth can ever be quite free of original sin and the struggle. And they mean death. When they say that mankind shall be free at last, they mean that mankind shall commit suicide. When they talk of a paradise without right or wrong, they mean the grave. They have but two objects, to destroy first humanity and then themselves.

Chesterton may well have been describing these useful idiots of the outer circle in my school and other schools around the nation who push their ‘Earth Day’ movement at young children and staff members, pushing formula’s (‘hug a tree’, say ‘happy earth day,’ recycle, etc) and rules that destroy human freedom and property, believing that if we just change our system and practices and give up our freedom and liberties that sin will be ended and that the green god will be happier, and that we can achieve a brighter future through these actions. These pushers of Earth Day are the outer circle.

But the inner circle is the one to fear, for they are the intellectual and moral center, and they know that the goal is not to erode property rights and human liberty to achieve any sort of higher calling, but rather to erode property rights and human liberty. They desire control over others, property of others, and want to control the lives of their fellow men- and have the ability to kill them if they go against their desires and wishes. The inner circle knows that mankind was born free and able to build buildings and harvest goods and mine for metals and work chemicals and have children and live in liberty- and they hate this and so push the worship of ‘Earth Day’ and other days which have as their goal darkness, control, and less human life. They are the inner circle because they know what they seek and why they seek it- the outer circle are just the large pool of useful idiots who take their message and push it without knowing what they do or why they do it.

In the face of this mob of idiots, outnumbered and threatened, I retreated physically by making up some sort of excuse to leave and promising to address the matter with them further in the future. Another day or two has passed and nothing further has come up and I suppose they hope that now I have dropped it and been cowed by their show of force. And in public schools right now I doubt I have any real ability to fight back- administration, the union, and other teachers likely would side with the inner circle over me- and it is probably safer for me to simply appear to give in. But in my own mind and in my heart they will not force me to ever give in.

Human liberty, property rights, and the love of life all are now too much a part of who I am, and so I reject the worship of Earth Day here and forever, and suggest you do so as well. And so I viewed my daughter’s comments as a good time to begin a real conversation with her about human action, historical variations in temperature, opinions of authority figures, critical thinking, and the wonders of progress. I intend on being my own inner circle of good and raising my children to be the same- and so should we all.

Great Moments in Civil Discourse Retroactive: Liberals Cheered When Ronald Reagan was Shot

Share

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Great Moments in Civil Discourse post, and this one is vintage.  It seems that 32 years ago, when Ronald Reagan was nearly killed by an assassin’s bullet, liberals burst into cheers. Tom Blumer at Newsbusters has more…

Two years ago today, I chronicled wire service reports which appeared shortly after John Hinckley’s unsuccessful attempt to assassinate President Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981 reporting that schoolchildren in many parts of the country cheered when they heard that he had been shot.

At the time, I suggested that school teachers and administrators who were appalled at the reactions might have been protesting a bit too much. Today, I located a 2004 item at National Review by Stanley Kurtz about another group which was happy to hear about the assassination attempt. The left’s hypocrisy about “civility” — and for that matter, basic human decency — clearly goes way, way back:

… just around the time Ronald Reagan took office, I moved to Berkeley, where I began to question the direction of contemporary liberalism. I remember the fabulous daily scene on campus, with rock bands blasting, students feasting on fare from an incredible variety of restaurants, and Marxists leafleting on the plaza. Having just encountered a living socialist state with a shamefully poor food supply (in a previous visit to the Soviet Union — Ed.), and having seen the dangers individual Russians courted in their attempts to get hold of forbidden rock music, I wondered if these Berkeley radicals understood the implications of the ideas they were playing with.

When Reagan was shot, I remember being on campus and hearing people cheer. That disturbed me deeply.

… I’ve already written about the famous fracas over the visit of Reagan’s U.N. ambassador, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, to the Berkeley campus. It wasn’t surprising that radicals tried to shout her down. What shocked was that even faculty members started arguing that “oppressors” have no free-speech rights (this, in the birthplace of the free-speech movement). That was the beginning of campus “political correctness,” before the phenomenon even had a name. Obviously, some terrible deformation had developed within liberalism — a rejection, in the name of freedom, of the very principles of liberty, along with a mental migration from America itself. Meanwhile, the real victims of oppression, the brave dissidents within the Soviet Union, saw Reagan and Kirkpatrick as heroes.

Shumer’s article has even more, but I want to focus in on how leftists “work.”  In the excerpt you see some familiar themes.

1.  Shouting down people with differing opinions.

2.  Expression of the idea that people with differing opinions have no right to express, or even have those opinions.

3.The irony that the home of “free speech” are filled with the people that deny that right to anyone but themselves.

4.  The additional irony that the leftists at Berkely were claiming freedom while pining for the most oppressive form of government in the history of man.

These folks are much like every every petulant adolescent that you’ve ever met.  They are self absorbed.  Yes, they speak of justice, fairness, and equality, but they reserve it only for themselves, and deny it to others.  They are hypocrites, preaching understanding while dealing in hate.  They talk about responsibility, yet they blame others for all of their own failings.  It’s like the teen that decries bullying, but mistreats the people that he does not like.  It’s as if to say that “only my ideas and my feelings matter.”  And so it is-others are denied the right to speak.  And, if this particular brand of petulant soul gains power, others lose their other freedoms as well, up to and including the freedom to be at all.  Just ask all of the others that were killed by communist regimes in the 20th century.

Yes, this is the liberal version of Civil Discourse  It’s only uncivil when someone else does it.

OWS Defends North Korea?

Share

What happens when the most repressive regime on Earth is featured in an American film?  OWS comes forward to defend it! That’s right, when Red Dawn was re-made, the Soviet Union was “unavailable” to be the adversary, so the producers turned to North Korea. And, when the communists at OWS heard of it, they decided to protest it.

I loved the first guy for suggesting that they have been trying to unify their people-read subjugate them!

Just to repeat the comparison…

Of course, the OWS folks think that it’s terribly unfair that the people in South Korea have lights, food, and a functional economy.  So, to remedy the unfairness, they would want the north to take over, so no one would have lights, food, or a functional economy.

And that, my friends, is called social justice.

Teachers, Communists, and Refusing to Talk to Media

Share

What happens when the unions and communists march as one?  Well, it appears that to prevent them from saying anything stupid on camera, they don’t talk to anyone on camera.  The Right Scoop has the video…

Mind you, these people are teaching children lies about a system that featured…

1.  Failed economics that resulted in medocrity at best, and often mass starvation.

2.  Gulags, informants, and people being “disappeared.”

3.  Over 100,000,000 dead in the last century.

4.  A system that had to build wall-to keep their own people in.

Of course, the children are being taught that these things either didn’t happen, or were someone else’s fault.  In other words, they’re talking like Democrats (or do I repeat  myself?).

What do Chicago Teachers do in Their Spare Time? Attend the Midwest Marxism Conference!

Share

Over the years, we’ve shown the relationship, or the uniformity, between unions and the Communist Party.  Legal Insurrection has the story of how the Midwest Marxism Conference we chock full of teachers.

Chicago Teachers Union Vice President Jesse Sharkey, who spoke at one of the breakout sessions, was just one of the hundreds of attendees, many of them teachers, there to strategize about the next phases of the partnership between Chicago Socialists and the Chicago Teachers Union.

Of course, all recording was strictly verboten unless you had been preapproved by the Chicago Socialists.

The event kicked off with Becca Barnes’s keynote speech. Barnes, a Chicago teacher, spoke about the new era of Marxism in America stemming from the Chicago Socialists’ recent successes in running the show during the Chicago Teachers Strike. Said Barnes, who referred to everyday American capitalists as “capitalist vampires,” “the struggle here in the United States has entered a new phase. Nowhere have we pointed the way forward more clearly than here in Chicago with the teachers union strike.” From her talk and other succeeding events throughout the day, it was clear that the Teachers Union and Marxists were one and the same.

Thankfully, after hours of enduring non-discussion and hate speech against Americans (and being amongst those celebrating a philosophy of mass murderers), I was “outed” as not a communist, told I was “not in solidarity” and surrounded by members of the Chicago Socialists who told me to leave the Northwestern School of Journalism premises. Also “spotted” as not in solidarity was Rebel Pundit, who had a more interesting exit than I:

Also, there is video of Rebel Pundit being ejected from the conference…

As you can see, the Communists are very tolerant and democratic.  Until, that is, someone is not “in solidarity” with them.

That, and current advocates of the political system responsible for 100,000,000 deaths in the last century are teaching children their murderous philosophy.  But, we’ll just pretend that this ism’t happening, right?

Obama wins Coveted Communist Party Endorsement

Share

For a POTUS isn’t  a Communist, the Communist Party USA sure is interested in him staying in office.  Stacey McCain has more…

While Obama is officially the candidate of the Democrat Party, he’s also got the endorsement of the Communist Party:

Re-electing Obama is not sufficient to bring economic recovery or even relief to our people. Only a different class configuration in political power can do necessary minimum reforms to give us a chance. But re-electing Obama is absolutely essential. Now is not the time for hand washing the complexities and tactics away — or failing to triage the most critical questions from those that are less critical. We cannot win everything at once!

Um, so if the POTUS most definately NOT a commie, why are the commies so wanting him to stay in office?

I think we all know the answer to that.

Occupy Wall Street: Apparently, the 99% does NOT like Communists defecating on their property

Share

When the organizers were planning, plotting, and paying for Occupy Wall Street, the apparently did not consider a “good neighbor” policy.  You see, Zuccotti Park is near a residential area, and the residents are getting a bit fed up with our would-be Communist overlords…

Infuriated lower Manhattan residents went ballistic on Zuccotti Park protesters at a chaotic Community Board 1 meeting tonight while blasting politicians for allowing the siege to continue without any end in sight.

“They are defecating on our doorsteps,” fumed Catherine Hughes, a member of Community Board 1 and a stay at home mom who has the misfortune of living one block from the chaos. “A lot of people are very frustrated. A lot of people are concerned about the safety of our kids.”

Fed up homeowners said that they’ve been subjected to insults and harassment as they trek to their jobs each morning. “The protesters taunt people who are on their way to work,” said James Fernandez, 51, whose apartment overlooks the park.

Don’t you remember all the similar complaints the Tea Parties?  Oh wait, no you don’t!

What more can be said.  This is the ongoing drip, drip, drip, that will show the public what the Occupy movement is all about.  Or, show we refer to it as a bowel movement?

Communist Party USA Spokesman Gets Warm Greeting at Occupy Chicago: So, the 99% are Communists too?

Share

Yes, apparently!   We’ve been saying all along that this movement has been openly embracing Communist ideology, but either omitting the source, or calling it by a different name.  On Saturday night, a spokesman from the Communist Party USA, John Bachtell, was warly greeted by the Occupy Chicago crowd.  Here is the video, via Rebelpundit…

So, the Communists, who are the representatives of the most murderous political ideology in human history, are applauded at an “occupy” event, and are not driven away, rebuked, rejected, or even slightly frowned upon.

What does that say about the Occupy Wall Street Movement?  In case you have any questions, here are the main accomplishments of Communism…

Let’s take a brief history lesson…

Occupy Wall Street Endorsed by Nazis, Communists, and Iranian Ayatollah: Are they part of the 99%?

Share

You must be doing something right left when the Nazi Party, Communist Party, and the ruling Ayatollah of Iran like you, right?  Apparently so, because the aforementioned entities have all come out in support of the Occupy Wall Street Movement.  Here is the documentation for the outpouring of support, via Gateway Pundit…

OK then, the modern, American variants of the two most  murderous entities of the last century are supporting the Occupy Wall Street Movement?  If that d0esn’t tell you something about OWS, I fear nothing else will.

Now, the Nazis and Communists were the mass murderers of the the last century.  What about a murderous regime of this century?  Well, we have to look no further than Iran, and it’s ruling religious leader…

Iran’s top leader said Wednesday that the wave of protests reflects a serious crisis that will ultimately topple capitalism in America. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed the United States is now in a full-blown crisis because its “corrupt foundation has been exposed to the American people.”

“They (U.S. government) may crack down on this movement but cannot uproot it,” CBS Newsreports Khamenei saying. “Ultimately, it will grow so that it will bring down the capitalist system and the West.”

Just for some some perspective, it is thought that the Iranian regime follows an apocalyptic version of Islam, and that they see their role as an instrument to bring about the end of the world.  Oh, and by the way, they are working very hard on developing nuclear weapons.

Again, if these folks are supporting Occupy Wall Street, what does that say?  If you can’t answer that one, you are not capable of rational thought.

And Yet Another Example of Unions and Communists

Share

Just when you thought that I could cover something else, there is even more evidence of the union-Communist connection.  Recently, the unions celebrated the Haymarket Riots.  For some background, here is some information on the  riots…

At Haymarket Square in ChicagoIllinois, a bomb is thrown at a squad of policemen attempting to break up a labor rally. The police responded with wild gunfire, killing several people in the crowd and injuring dozens more.

The demonstration, which drew some 1,500 Chicago workers, was organized by German-born labor radicals in protest of the killing of a striker by the Chicago police the day before. Midway into the rally, which had thinned out because of rain, a force of nearly 200 policemen arrived to disperse the workers. As the police advanced toward the 300 remaining protesters, an individual who was never positively identified threw a bomb at them. After the explosion and subsequent police gunfire, more than a dozen people lay dead or dying, and close to 100 were injured.

Bombing the police?   That’s something to honor, isn’t it?

Here are two videos regarding the “celebration” from Rebel Pundit.

Just listen to what the speakers are saying.  Does that represent America?  Is this the talk of people that believe in freedom?  Or are these people that will use any tactic, or any means, to achieve their goals?  And, are those goals control of others?  I think the answers are self evident, given their speech.

Your Tax Dollars Funding Marxist Indoctrination: American Flag is Racist

Share

We’ve all talked about Marxist professors before.  It’s pretty well documented that most of our universities are home to untold numbers of Marxists.  However, since the technology allows it, and the Marxists operate in plain site, it’s becoming rather easy to expose them.  Case in point, these videos from Big Government…

I have to ask anyone that is visiting this blog for the first time, does this video represent what this country stands for?  Does these ideas fit a free country, or do they fit a dictatorship?  Is this extremism?  These are questions that we all have to ask, and we also need to ask our friends and family the same thing.

These people have the right to believe and state whatever they want.  Unlike the “progressives,” we have no desire to silence anyone.  However, we must be aware that they will silence anyone that they can.  They have engaged in violence to forward their goals, and will again.  And, with history as our teacher, Communism killed upwards of 100,000,000 people in the last century.  Since Communism is a system that relies on complete and total control of the populace, it is safe to assume that the butchery will continue in the current century as well.

Remember this from the 60-70’s, regarding Obama associate William Ayers?

That’s what Communism does. It is it’s nature.

And those people want to do it here.

Communists, Unions, and Astroturf, Oh my

Share

As we see more of the union protests, we see more and more of two additional elements; Communists and substantial funding.  For the latest, take a look at this video from Rebel Pundit, via Big Government…

Here is an excerpt from Rebel Pundit…

While Tea Parties have received massive amounts of ridicule for being so called “Astro-Turf” (corporate funded) from the institutional left and mainstream media, left wing protesters claim the moral high ground of being a “true” grassroots movement. However once again, our footage reveals an extremely elaborate and costly production put on by these so called “true” grassroots activists. This particular protest had at least hundreds of protesters bussed in on at least 12 school busses we counted taking up two city blocks in downtown Chicago, and an audio/video system that could outdo many local rock concerts at Chicago’s infamous summer street fairs. It seems unlikely that there is no “Astro-Turf” funding for these nationwide protests that occurred this past Saturday.

I wonder who paid for the Jumbotron?  As I mentioned in my post from yesterday, when the funding for a protest is pulled, it all stops on a dime.  When the funding is provided, we get the typical leftist protest; with identically printed signs and shirts, transportation, and, in this case, a freaking Jumbotron. Because, dear reader, all “grassroots” protest groups have Jumbotrons.

And, once again, we see a communists openly operating with union members. They aren’t even bothering to hide it anymore, but I am surprised that more people aren’t making the connection.  In all honesty, we need to expose this until the people see it for what it is.  I think that the more people that see it, the more people will see through the union rhetoric.
