Education: Our Greatest Battle?  And I fear we have already lost. 

This is an article that I had commented on for another site some time ago. I thought that given the current climate of “change,” it might be a good idea to re-visit it. The article is eight years old, however, it seems to echo what is going on today.

Why Our Schools Teach Socialism

Congratulations America: Today there are over 10,000 openly marxist professors and thousands of humanist professors controlling the universities and colleges that produce America’s teachers and other professionals. Varying forms of marxist-humanism are the predominant philosophies of the educational establishment; yet we repeatedly send our most precious gift (our children) off to them for “education” (indoctrination).

Today’s schools are filled with sex education, political correctness, environmental extremism, global unity, diversity training (pro-homosexuality) and higher order thinking skills [HOTS]; which boldly claim that to become a higher order thinker one must first believe the fact that there are no absolutes, absolutely! “The Greatest Story Ever Told” based on the greatest book ever written, “The Holy Bible,” about the greatest teacher who ever lived, Jesus, is not allowed, let alone used, in the schools of America. The Bible was America’s first textbook; yet today it is referred to as a book of fables.

Our schools are filled with violence, murder, extortion, rape, unwanted pregnancy, drug use, disrespect, foul language, declining test scores and children who cannot read. While the pontificators wonder why, God doesn’t; He knows – Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. I will also reject thee seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God; I will also forget thy children.” Verse 7 says, “As they were increased, so they sinned against Me: Therefore, will I change their glory into shame.”

The problem with America’s educational system began with the birth of socialism and given impetus by federal government involvement. Lenin, one of the world’s leading experts on socialism, tells us – “Communism is socialism in a hurry.” Socialism, therefore, is communism by gradualism rather than by revolution. The socialist “Fabian Society,” the forerunner of most socialist groups in America, had as their motto “Make Haste Slowly.” “Democratic Socialism” became the battle cry to socialize the United States of America. The socialists’ goal was to “permeate and penetrate,” then control this nation from deep within. Their first target in America was our children through public instruction.

In the U.S. their followers would use language as their first line of attack and deceit. They would wear no badge nor socialist label, but were to call themselves “liberal,” “progressive” and even “moderate.” Words were the weapon of choice for this new war. By changing and shifting word meanings the socialists could cover their true purpose. Everything would be done under the banners of “reform” and “social justice,” suggesting all was for the public good, for humanitarian reasons, for true democracy — and finally — for the children. The buzzwords of socialism were then, and are today, “social” and “democracy” (i.e. social science, social studies and socialization of the child). Robert Conquest observed, “a communist never does anything under his own name that he can do under someone else’s.”

This is important:  Totalitarians never announce themselves.  They do not come in and say, “Hi, we’re socialists and we’re going to take away your freedoms bit by bit.  We’re going to criminalize your beliefs and your God. We’re going to control every aspect of your live from cradle to grave, and there isn’t a thing you can do about it!” They couch their intentions with pleasant sounding words; they distort and confuse the meanings of their words to make you think “it’s OK.”  How many times do we hear the term “change, reform, progressive?” Or, what of “tolerance, diversity, or fairness?”  “Change” is certainly true (not change we would want), but what of the others?  I think we all know what they really mean.

Regarding the statement, “make haste slowly,” the left does not announce their plans and intentions in full form.  They know that the public would reject them.  Instead, they move incrementally.  They take whatever step they can at a time.  Either by exploiting a crisis, or creating one, they implement their plans step by step.  It will start with some regulations or restrictions, usually in response to some real or invented event or problem.  As time wears on, they add to the regulations or restrictions.  At each phase, the politicians and media assures the public that it’s just some small sacrifices that they’re making, and the government doesn’t  really want to take some right or freedom away.  The educational system plays a role here as well.  Since so many children are indoctrinated, they will no know the reasons for the freedoms that we have.  As we have heard, there have been more than a few occasions where children have been threatened with failing grades, ridiculed, or otherwise discriminated against because they had a differing viewpoint.  Too many of these people grow to be adults with absolutely no concept of our system of government.  They don’t recognize that government control always leads to tyranny.  They have no idea that the founders wrote our Constitution to protect our rights from the very things that are happening now.

In the early 1900’s, because of unrest in Europe, thousands of socialists flocked to America for safety. Large numbers held degrees in the fields of psychology, sociology and psychiatry (behavioral sciences, dealing with behavior and [social] change). Many went on to become college and university professors.

Norman Thomas, socialist and member of the Civil Liberties Union, boldly told the world, “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”

Note now that they don’t use the word “liberal.” They now refer to themselves as “progressive.”  How ironic! They use a nice sounding term to describe tyranny.

The story of how the socialists took over the American educational establishment would fill a book; so let us just listen to their own words.

John Dewey, called “the father of modern education,” was an avowed socialist, the co-author of the ‘Humanist Manifesto’ and cited as belonging to fifteen Marxist-front organizations by the Committee on Un-American Activities. Do the words (the father of modern education) now take on new meaning? Remember, Dewey taught the professors who would train America’s teachers. He was obsessed with “the group.” In his own words, “You can’t make socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”

How many of us were taught by our parents, or even our schools, to think for ourselves, be self-reliant, strive to achieve our dreams, be our own person?  Under the system of the future, are these traits illnesses that are to be “treated?” Are we to be replaced by successive generations of subservient drones that have no ability to critically analyze facts, and therefore will never question their masters?

Rosalie Gordon, writing on Dewey’s progressive (socialist) education in her book “What’s Happened To Our Schools,” said, “The progressive system has reached all the way down to the lowest grades to prepare the children of America for their role as the collectivists of the future. The group — not the individual child — is the quintessence of progressivism. The child must always be made to feel part of the group. He must indulge in group thinking and group activity.”

Collectivist = Communists.  Notice how individuality is to be eliminated.  How meaningful are the individual freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution when individuality is to be eliminated? As an update, is it any surprise that the government has been pushing mandatory pre-school? This has nothing to do with education. This is about indoctrination.  They state it plainly themselves.

After visiting the Soviet Union, Dewey wrote six articles on the “wonders” of Soviet education. The School-To-Work system in our public schools (all 50 states) is modeled after the Soviet poly-technical system.

In 1936, the National Education Association stated its position, from which they have never wavered; “We stand for socializing the individual.”

The NEA in its “Policy For American Education” stated, “The major problem of education in our times arises out of the fact that we live in a period of fundamental social change. In the new democracy [we were a Republic] education must share in the responsibility of giving purpose and direction to social change. The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual. Education must operate according to a well-formulated social policy.”

Paul Haubner, specialist for the NEA, tells us, “The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school. That is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. [Christians?] Our (humanistic) goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values.”

Professor Chester M. Pierce, M.D., Professor of Education and Psychiatry at Harvard, has this to say, “Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well — by creating the international child of the future.”

Some politicians agree. Listen to former Senator Paul Hoagland of Nebraska: “The fundamentalist parents have no right to indoctrinate their children in their beliefs. We are preparing their children for the year 2000 and life in a global one-world society and those children will not fit in.”

What then happens to those children that do not “fit in” to this new socialist world?  Many of the readers of this blog have been subject to the indoctrination of the public schools and universities.  We were somehow able to resist and form opinions of our own.  What will become of such people in the “new order?”

In the Humanist Review magazine it was observed that, “Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism. What can a theistic Sunday school’s meeting for an hour once a week and teaching only a fraction of the children do to stem the tide of the five-day program of humanistic teaching?”

P. Blanchard, in ‘The Humanist” 1983, continues: “I think that the most important factor moving us toward a secular society has been the educational factor. Our schools may not teach Johnny how to read properly, but the fact that Johnny is in school until he is 16 tends toward the elimination of religious superstition. The average American child now acquires a high school education, and this militates against Adam and Eve and all other myths of alleged history.”

In a socialist state, there can be no power higher than the state. The concept of God, and for some reason, the Christian God in particular, that has to be eliminated. They won’t say that publicly, but that’s the agenda.  Even for those who aren’t religious, what other ideas might be out of synch with the new worldview?  Once they come for the Christians, who might be next?

John J. Dunphy wrote in the Jan/Feb 1983 edition of The Humanist, “The battle for mankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom. The classroom must and will become the arena of conflict between the old and the new. The rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism.”

Our bureaucrats, politicians and educators are constantly on television blaming either parents or lack of funds for our schools’ dilemmas. The answer is always more money and more government control. For well over 50 years the American voter has believed this line of crap. Victor Gollancz, a famous socialist publisher tells us why he believed that socialism would take over America; “Christians are not exactly bright, so it will be easy for socialism to lead them down the garden path through their ideals of brotherly love and ‘social justice.’”

It’s (past) time that Christian men stand up for their families and their faith and put God back in charge of this nation and it’s schools.

I know, why this now?  I know the ObamaCare plan is oozing its way through Congress.  I know Cap and Trade lurks on the horizon.  Education is already in the hands of the left, and it has been for some time.  We vehemently defend our health care choices and our income, as well we should, but we then forget about our children?  With every successive generation of children going through the public schools, the levels of violence, the lack of ethics, and the lack of knowledge of the average American citizen continues to grow.  Yes, many of us were taught well at home.  We learned lessons of hard work, discipline, integrity, and so forth from our parents and other family members.  But as these new generations are indoctrinated with leftist ideas, there will be fewer and fewer parents able or willing to teach such lessons.  My fear is that, at some time in the future, we will reach a tipping point where people that are honest, have integrity, or are able to think independently will become a small minority.  At that point, the indoctrinated ones will freely give up all the rights that made this nation great, simply because they don’t know the utility of them.  In fact, they will have been taught to despise them.

People that believe in freedom are already the new pariahs for the left.  One only needs to look at the media coverage of the Tea Parties to confirm this.  The drumbeat will only grow.  As it does, the left will continue to indoctrinate more and more children.  We might yet defeat the socialized medicine, and we might prevent passage of Cap and Trade.  Obama may lose hig congressional majorities in 2010.  He might even be defeated in 2012.  But if we continue to give our kids to the government every day, those victories will be temporary, delaying the socialists for a few years to be sure, but in the end, futile.


Cop Killer-Loving Teacher, Marilyn Zuniga Fired

Orange, NJ Board of Education fires cop-killer-loving teacher Marylin Zuniga

Sanity prevailed last night. Marylin Zuniga, the teacher who forced her third grade class to write “get well” letters to convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal, is now unemployed.

As its meeting stretched past midnight, the Orange school board on Wednesday voted to terminate the employment of a third-grade teacher for allowing her students to write “get well” letters to a convicted cop killer.

Over the course of about 90 minutes inside the auditorium at Orange Preparatory Academy, supporters of Marylin Zuniga called for her reinstatement in public comments to the board.

Then, in under three minutes, the board unanimously approved a personnel agenda and abruptly adjourned the meeting without discussing or explaining what was just voted on.

Outside the school building soon afterward, school board Vice President Jeffrey Wingfield declined to explain whether the board had voted to terminate Zuniga’s employment.

“Let her tell you,” said Wingfield, referring to Zuniga. “I want her to tell you.”

After being contacted by a reporter, Orange Superintendent Ronald Lee confirmed in an email on Wednesday afternoon that the board had voted to terminate Zuniga’s employment as part of the personnel agenda.

That should be the end of this sordid affair. Except Zuniga plans to sue.

Zuniga is now considering legal action to challenge her termination, which could take the form of an arbitration proceeding or a lawsuit.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, Zuniga’s attorney, Alan Levine, said that by firing her, school officials “abdicated their responsibility to the community and to the children of the school district.”

“They lost a teacher that everybody agreed was a remarkable teacher,” Levine said. “There isn’t a school district around that wouldn’t be happy to have Marylin Zuniga teach in it.”

Yeah, he really said that.

No, nobody believed him.

Marylin Zuniga is, and ought to be, radioactive.

But this is Essex County. And in Essex County, it’s like Bizarro World, only weirder.

As members of the public later addressed the board, the people voicing support for Zuniga included local civil rights activists, fellow educators and elected officials, including Essex County Freeholder President Britnee Timberlake.

Holding Zuniga’s hand in the air, Timberlake told the board members “you ought to be ashamed of yourself for trying to crucify her.”

The freaking president of our county Freeholder Board is siding with a cop-killer? Did I read that right? Because that’s what it looks like. Marylin Zuniga worships a cop-killer. And the, ahem, Honorable Britnee Timberlake stands hand-in-hand with Marylin Zuniga.

That’s messed up.

Where did the Democrats dig up this clown? The Activists R Us rent-a-whackjob division? She was only elected to her first term last year and already she’s president of the board. That’s gotta be some kind of record, even for us, where “the fix” is always in.

Anybody got the guts to ask Joe D what he thinks about his newest henchwoman’s antics? Because I can’t believe she landed where she is without his blessing. So I gotta wonder if he’s secretly on the #FreeMumia bandwagon too.

I’m appalled. And all of you knee-jerk Democrats who voted for Britnee Timberlake are the ones who ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You really picked a winner. Thanks. Thanks a whole lot.

Those who don’t know history are doomed to be brainwashed into believing in Obamaunism.

Results of the “Nation’s Report Card” released this week by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) show that only 18 percent of 8th-graders are “proficient” or above in U.S. history, and only 23 percent are proficient in civics.

Despite hundreds of billions of dollars poured into education programs in the United States via the U.S. Department of Education, the “Nation’s Report Card” states that 8th-graders’ average NAEP scores in U.S. History, Geography, and Civics demonstrated no significant change since 2010 when students were last assessed. In geography, just 27 percent of U.S. 8th-graders performed at or above the proficiency level on the NAEP assessments.

So the teachers unions, as wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Democrat Party, are doing their level best then. They’re ensuring we’re breeding a nation of ignoramuses, ripe for brainwashing into Progressive dogma. And the brainwashing is in full swing.

Without the context of our uniquely American experience, kids might get the idea that Rights are granted by Government. And that which government grants, government can take away. For our own good, of course.

Absent a solid basis in the principles of Federalism, kids might get the idea that everything ultimately belongs to the government, and it is government which benevolently deigns to let us use our property, so long as we use it in accordance with the diktats of government.

Unless they understand how America was founded, kids might get the idea that our nation is not unique, and not deserving of their efforts to sustain and improve it.

In short, historical illiteracy serves to impede critical thinking skills, and enables the presentation of ideals antithetical to those upon which this great nation was founded. Out with self-sufficiency, in with the welfare state. Discount the pursuit of happiness and equality of opportunity, instead ensure that everybody gets a trophy. Deprecate the contributions of Old White Guys while sensationalizing the marginal achievements of fringe minority groups, as if America would not exist without the latter, and manages to scrape on by despite the impediments created by the former.

Children who aren’t versed in how our nation was founded won’t grow up into adults willing to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution our Founding Fathers fought and died to establish. And that’s exactly what the Obamunists want. When you don’t believe in Something, you’ll fall for Anything.




One Dad’s Awesome Response To School Principal Who Tried To Lecture Him

The idea behind this letter might have been, at one time, penned in the best interests of the child. However, as government gets bigger and bigger, then you can begin to see the underlying condescension that this letter is virtually dripping with.

Where the schools letter says, “The school district is not in the position of overseeing family vacations, or evaluating the educational nature of a family trip”, you can imagine the principal writing, “The school district is not in the position of overseeing family vacations YET, or APPROVING the educational nature of a family trip.”

In other words, “Give ’em an inch…”

A Pennsylvania father penned a scathing note to a school principal after she said a trip he took with his 9-year-old twins to see the Boston Marathon was “recorded as unexcused.”

Mike Rossi shared the note from school principal Rochelle Marbury on his Facebook page.

“Dear Mr. and Mrs. Rossi,” the letter read. “I understand your family recently took a family vacation. I want you to be aware that the Abington School District does not recognize family trips as an excused absence, regardless of the activities involved in the trip.”

“The school district is not in the position of overseeing family vacations or evaluating the educational nature of a family trip. The dates that your children were absent were recorded as unexcused. An accumulation of unexcused absences can result in a referral to our attendance officer and a subsequent notice of a violation of the compulsory school attendance law,” it added.

Rossi, who took issue with the school’s attendance policy, wrote a note back to Marbury.

Dear Madam Principal,

While I appreciate your concern for our children’s education, I can promise you they learned as much in the five days we were in Boston as they would in an entire year in school.

Our children had a once-in-a-lifetime experience, one that can’t be duplicated in a classroom or read in a book.

In the 3 days of school they missed (which consisted of standardized testing that they could take any time) they learned about dedication, commitment, love, perseverance, overcoming adversity, civic pride, patriotism, American history culinary arts and physical education.

family attended boston marathonThey watched their father overcome, injury, bad weather, the death of a loved one and many other obstacles to achieve an important personal goal.

They also experienced first-hand the love and support of thousands of others cheering on people with a common goal.

At the marathon, they watched blind runners, runners with prosthetic limbs and debilitating diseases and people running to raise money for great causes run in the most prestigious and historic marathon in the world.

They also paid tribute to the victims of a senseless act of terrorism and learned that no matter what evil may occur, terrorists can not deter the American spirit.

These are things they won’t ever truly learn in the classroom.

In addition our children walked the Freedom Trail, visited the site of the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre and the graves of several signers of the Declaration of Independence.

These are things they WILL learn in school a year or more from now. So in actuality our children are ahead of the game.

They also visited an aquarium, sampled great cuisine and spent many hours of physical activity walking and swimming.

We appreciate the efforts of the wonderful teachers and staff and cherish the education they are receiving at Rydal Elementary School. We truly love our school.

But I wouldn’t hesitate to pull them out of school again for an experience like the one they had this past week.

Rossi told NBC’s “Today Show” that his children rarely miss school.

“They’re just never out,” he said.

“The plan was always to bring them with me, and do this trip as a family,” he added. “The school has known unofficially about it since the fall. The teachers have discussed it, so it hasn’t been a secret.”

Rossi was scheduled to meet with the school principal Wednesday, but at the time of publication it wasn’t clear what happened.





Telling A 5 Year Old They Are ‘Transgender’ Is Child Abuse

A school in Maine got in hot water last week for feeding 5,6,and 7 year olds a “lesson” on being transgendered. But can a 5-year-old even be a “transgendered” kid? No. And to impress on them to think so is child abuse.

Officials at a grade school in Kittery, Maine instituted a lesson plan for its Kindergartners and its first through third graders meant to train them on the subject of transgendered kids and to push the idea that being transgendered is perfectly normal. Naturally, many parents were furious at the scheme.

The school had begun reading to these tiny tykes from a book titled, “I am Jazz” by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings. The book is about a transgendered boy who struggles with “a boy’s body and a girl’s brain.”

Many parents didn’t learn of the outrageous LGBT indoctrination plan visited upon their children until Fox News’ Sean Hannity highlighted the story.

After the story broke parents started complaining to the school that no notice of the lesson plan was revealed to parents ahead of time.

The school has since apologized and said it broke its own rules about keeping parents informed about what was going on in the classroom. The school promised to be more attentive to that pledge in the future.

Still, one of the school’s teachers is defended the indoctrination effort saying that “experts” insist that a child is never too young to be trained about LGBT issues.

Wrote school guidance counselor Dana Richerich: “Some people may think primary school students are too young to worry about addressing issues surrounding gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) students. Not so, experts say. It’s never too early to begin teaching children about respecting differences.”

But this is nonsense. No kid should be thinking about deviant or non-traditional sexual roles until they are old enough to understand the traditional roles. It is child abuse to begin sexualizing kids in Kindergarten and leaves them open to confusion at least, possible mental aguish as they struggle to grasp it all, and at worse sexual abuse as they seek to put into action the LGBT deviations that are taught them.

K through 3 is way, way too young for this garbage and any teacher or administrator who tries to indoctrinate kids with the LGBT agenda should be charged with child abuse.

Marylin Zuniga: I made my students worship Mumia because white kids were mean to me in high school

Cop-killer loving teacher Marylin Zuniga tried to defend herself last night in front of the Orange, NJ Board of Education.

And since she had nothing to stand on, she played the Race Card.

Zuniga, clutching a written statement in her hands, leaned into a microphone and made her first public remarks about a controversy that has gained international attention.

In her remarks at Tuesday’s meeting, Zuniga addressed how she became a teacher, her efforts to help the local community – and the circumstances that led to the “get well” letters to Abu-Jamal.

After feeling disconnected as a teenager, growing up in a predominantly white community, Zuniga said she decided to become a teacher in her senior year of high school.

Growing up in a predominantly white suburb, attending a majority white school district, my teachers and peers marginalized me as a first generation immigrant, Peruvian-American,” Zuniga said.

“The cultural gap between my educators and me caused me to feel disconnected from my school work and learning altogether. It wasn’t until my experience in the classroom my senior year of high school that I realized I could be the teacher I never had.”

Translation: I had every opportunity to get ahead, but I decided to become a Marxist because white people didn’t bow down to my multicultural sensitivities.

Remember when immigrants assimilated? Yeah, me neither.

So, our Ms. Zuniga felt “disconnected,” eh? But not in the way that Daniel Faulkner is disconnected from his life. Her disconnect is more metaphorical. And harder to endure, of course. Because, racism.

The poor dear, she had to settle for a second-rate education, too.

Oh, wait, no she didn’t.

After graduating with honors from Montclair State University, Zuniga decided to pursue her master’s degree at Columbia University before entering the \classroom. “I felt that my future students deserved the best and the only way they would receive that is if I was fully equipped as an educator,” she said.

Darn those racist white people! How’d that lowly Peruvian sneak into one of their most esteemed graduate programs? Columbia already graduated that Obama fellow, you’d think that would’ve satisfied the quota gods. But no, they took in a “disconnected” young lady, laid the world at her feet, and were rewarded for their trouble in the only way a Marxist knows. Anger.

Then she brought her politics into the classroom, the better to indoctrinate her charges into the cult of victimhood. She got caught. And her only regret is that she blabbed about it.

Zuniga apologized for highlighting the letters on social media.

Her “apology” isn’t really to the parents and the taxpayers. It’s to her fellow travelers, for outing their insidious agenda. She regrets not keeping the whole sordid affair under her hat, at least until she achieved tenure, when of course she’d be free to assign The Communist Manifesto for summer reading.

And get this, she wants a second chance.

“Given my record, I do not believe this one episode justifies my termination. However, if the board has decided to terminate me, then I am prepared to submit my resignation to avoid the consequences to my career that would follow from termination.”

Oh, I’d say it’s a little too late for avoiding consequences. Not unless Google vanishes from the face of the earth.

As for it being “one episode,” well then, I guess the results of her “hands up, don’t shoot” assignment have already been fed into a shredder. Which is a pity, because I’d really like to have read the radical slogans she undoubtedly fed to her students.

Marylin Zuniga is but a cog in academia’s leftward march. She’s hardly unique. But we need to make an example of her. Show the bastards that we’re not going to take it any more. Prevent her from poisoning any more young minds. Fire her. Today.

Your tax dollars at work: Orange, NJ students write “get well” letters to convicted cop killer

Remember when children were taught to respect police officers?

Yeah, me neither.

Because now, they’re taught to honor cop-killers.

A group of school children in New Jersey apparently wrote “get well” letters to convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Abu-Jamal, a former death row inmate, was rushed to a hospital late last month to be treated for complications from diabetes, according to family members and supporters.

The former Black Panther was convicted of shooting and killing Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981.

“Fox and Friends” reported that a group of New Jersey third graders were encouraged by their teacher to write him “get better soon” letters. High school students also wrote letters for Abu-Jamal.

The letters were reportedly delivered to the killer by Johanna Fernandez, a professor of history at Baruch College in New York City.

Of course it’s a tenured public school unionista behind this atrocity.

Marylin Zuniga, who teaches third grade language arts and social studies at Forest Street School in Orange, N.J. was apparently behind the letter writing campaign.

On Apr. 5, she tweeted: “Just dropped off these letters to comrade Johanna Fernandez. My 3rd graders wrote to Mumia to lift up his spirits as he is ill. #freemumia”

She won’t be fired. Or reprimanded. Only teachers who speak out to defend traditional values get fired.

The public school system is a hotbed of radical leftist indoctrination.

You’d have to be an idiot, or a dedicated anti-American communist sympathizer, to belive that Wesley Cook (this “Mumia” character’s real name) didn’t shoot Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in cold blood.

Their “hero” shot a cop in the back. And then, execution-style, between the eyes. That’s who this teacher wants to “get well.” A cop-killing piece of trash who should have been fried in an electric chair and left to rot in an unmarked grave.

Putting your child in her classroom is parental malpractice.

Some punishment: Cop-killer-loving teacher Marylin Zuniga suspended, with pay

Her union protects her right to be an America-hating idiot. Marylin Zuniga, the Orange, NJ teacher who forced her third-graders to write “get well” letters to convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, has been suspended, with pay.

An Orange elementary school teacher has been suspended for having her third-grade students write “get well” letters to an inmate convicted of killing a cop, school officials announced today.

In a statement provided by Orange Superintendent Ronald Lee, district officials sharply criticized the assignment given by teacher Marylin Zuniga to write letters to former death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal.

School officials said they “vehemently deny” having prior knowledge of the assignment, and said Zuniga neither sought prior approval nor notified parents about this “unauthorized activity.”

The district is closed for spring break this week, but school officials said they will commence a full investigation into the matter when staff and students return on Monday.

“Ms. Zuniga will be immediately suspended with pay until such time the investigation is completed and based upon the results of the investigation additional action may be taken by the Board of Education,” the statement reads.

Yeah, uh huh, they’re doing the Sgt. Schultz Shuffle — I knew nuh-think! — while trying to cover their butts. Didn’t anyone in the district follow her Twitter feed?

Senator Cory Booker was one of her followers. I guess that says a lot right there, doesn’t it?

And I say “was” because, she’s so dedicated to her revolutionary cause that she’s taken down her Twitter page. Way to stand up for your principles, comrade.

Which sounds like the school’s principal is either incompetently not monitoring her staff, or she saw nothing to complain about. Until, of course, sane people noticed what was going on in the third grade.

Sadly, my money’s on incompetence. The school rates a 2 (out of 10). And Marylin Zuniga isn’t doing much to fix that.

Let’s hope she’s fired. Soon. And that she never sets foot in another classroom to brainwash unsuspecting young minds. Our children deserve better. And Mumia Abu-Jamal deserves to rot in hell for all eternity.







It’s Good To Be The King: Obama Exempts Himself From “Free College” Tax…

What? Me pay taxes?? I’m a Democrat!!

It figures. Barack Obama’s communist proposal to tax your kid’s college savings account has an exemption — for Malia and Sasha Obama.

One of the less talked-about proposals President Obama offered this week was to take away the tax-exempt status of 529 college savings plans. These very popular plans allow parents to defer income – before it’s taxed – into savings accounts to then be withdrawn, also tax-free, to use for qualified college expenses.

I’ll dispense for the moment with the larger question of whether stuff like this represents a wise overall approach to the tax code (it doesn’t) and just focus on the particular change Obama wants to make. That is: He wants to start taxing the withdrawals parents make from their 529 accounts when it’s time to pay for college, so there would be far less reward for socking that money away in the first place. But the federal government would get to confiscate more capital from the private sector! The Democrat dream is fulfilled every time a dollar goes from private hands to politicians’ hands.

But here’s the kicker: The Obamas themselves have already put more than $240,000 into a 529 account. So they’ll now have to pay the tax, right?

No, sillies. Obama only wants the government to tax withdrawals of funds deposited after the change is made. So those who have already made the deposits – like him – can still withdraw them tax-free. Nice, huh?

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs. Unless your father is the king!

Rich guys like Obama, who can front-load their kids’ 529 plans, won’t be subjected to his new tax. But ordinary schmoes like you and me who save a little every week? Yeah, we get hosed.

Oh, but it’s for the Common Good dontcha know. And according to the looney lefties at the Star-Ledger it’s Obama’s version of the G.I. Bill:

That’s already his “G.I. Bill.”

So, why the big push for “free” community college?

Because it plays into his long-term strategy to tax all wealth. The money you have sitting in the bank is burning a hole in his pocket. Like all Marxists, he believes he knows how to spend your money better than you do.

Fortunately his whole tax fantasy is DOA in the new Republican Congress. But it’s instructive to see just how deviously mendacious he really is. When he says “tax the rich,” he makes sure to insulate himself and his cronies from the damage his policies inevitably cause. Know your place, peasant!





In Paterson, NJ Only 19 Students Are Ready For College, But 66 Education Employees Receive Over $125,000 A Year Income

There are 28,139 students enrolled in the Paterson, NJ public schools.

A grand total of 19 of them are considered ready for college.

In Paterson, New Jersey only 19 kids who took the SAT’s are considered college ready. This means that they scored at least a 1500 out of 2400 on the standardized test, and this number is truly shocking considering how large the school district is.

Shocking? I’ll give you shocking.

There are 66 school district employees earning more than $125,000 per year.

Payroll records show the number of city school district employees making at least $125,000 has doubled over the past five years, an increase that comes as test scores for Paterson students remain among the lowest in the state.

At present, 66 Paterson Public Schools employees make at least $125,000, the records show. During the 2010-11 school year, the district had 33 employees above the $125,000 mark.

Most of the increase has occurred among central office administrators. In 2010-11, the district had 18 principals earning more than $125,000 and 15 non-principals, the records show. This year, there are 28 principals and 38 non-principals at or above the $125,000 mark.

In some instances, the increase stems from people who already were on the payroll and simply got raises or promotions, the records show. In other cases, the district created new high-salaried jobs.

The educrats take care of their own. The kids? Not so much.

By the way, Paterson is one of New Jersey’s sainted Abbott districts, so state taxpayers are on the hook for more than 90% of their school budget, to “equalize” per-pupil spending. Or something. This year they’re getting $456,463,506 of our hard-earned tax dollars.

I’ll spell that out for you. Four Hundred and Fifty Six million dollars. So 19 kids can pass the SAT.

Superintendent Donnie Evans (annual salary, $215,000) has an answer for that.

The Paterson school district said that they no longer use SAT scores to gauge students’ success.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Three Examples of Why America is In A State of Irreversible Decline


Being a self-appointed observer of the asylum we all have to live can be a daunting task. Although there are times when one can find humor in the observed insanity, more often than not the observations are unpleasant in the extreme. And, what could be more unpleasant than having to conclude from observing so much insanity that the irrefutable decline our once great nation is a permanent and irreversible. Think of the inertia in a spinning flywheel. For over a hundred years, the idealogues on the left have been gradually putting their flywheel in motion and building up its speed. Now, if by some miracle we could stop supplying energy to the progressive flywheel, it would continue to spin for a very long time due to the stored energy or inertia of the flywheel.

Today I came across three examples of why I believe America’s decline is irreversible.

Education in America

That America is being dumbed-down is not news. But, let me share something from an article I read this morning in The Spectator. The article, about a debate between two educators on whether all knowledge is equal isn’t what I found interesting. What caught my attention was a statistic attributed to two American psychologists:

… by the age of four, children of middle-class professionals will have heard, on average, 32 million more words than children of welfare recipients.

Considering that the middle class parents didn’t receive such a great education, that statistic is absolutely mind boggling. It also explains a lot about the problems in our inner-cites. It makes one wonder how many more words the children of elites have heard by age four. But, here’s the important point. Try to imagine the revolution it would need in our education system and the cultural revolution among the poor it would need to reverse this trend. It’s not going to happen, is it. Sociologist could spend their whole career writing about the meaning of that statistic. Then maybe not.

Sociologists Are Gender Confused

According to this article at The Daily Caller, the American Sociological Association (ASA), after a year of debate, have decided that ASA membership will allow for seven options for their gender choice:

  • Transgender Male
  • Transgender Man
  • Transgender Female
  • Transgender Woman
  • Genderqueer
  • Gender Non-Conforming
  • Prefered Identity of their choice not explicitly named

Genderqueer??? Seriously? That must have been some debate they had. Here is how they define “Genderqueer”:

“Genderqueer” is defined by the Gender Equity Resource Center at the University of California-Berkeley as “A person whose gender identity is neither man nor woman, is between or beyond genders, or is some combination of genders.”

Okay. At the risk of being labeled a Homophobe, I have to call this what it is; Nonsense. I care not one whit what the ASA believes about gender conflicts. But, what is alarming is what our children are being taught about gender conflict. Two words in the English language have clearly opposite meanings: Normal and Abnormal. Wherever one looks in nature, it is quite easy to see what is normal and what is abnormal. Teaching our children that abnormal is normal is wrong on so many levels. Abnormalities do occur in nature and abnormalities occur within the human specie.  Among humans midgets and drawfs are abnormal and albinos are abnormal and, yes, those born with gender conflicts are “abnormal”. Our children should be taught that abnormalities do occur in nature, including among humans. Our children should be taught that it is wrong to mistreat or discriminate against those born with abnormalities over which they had no control. But, we live in an Orwellian world where up is down and right is left and abnormal is normal. This trend is not likely tobe reversed.

Obama on Amnesty _  Channeling LBJ

Allen West writes today that our Department on (In)Justice has found a back door by which President Obama can have his amnesty wishes without even having to write an Executive Order.

As reported by The Daily Caller, “The Department of Justice’s board of immigration appeals has decided to let Guatemalan women win asylum in the United States if they claim to be victims of domestic violence. The decision was announced in an Aug. 26 decision from the Board of Immigration Appeals at President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice. It creates a huge new incentive for Guatemalan women to cross the U.S. border, because if their asylum claim is accepted, their children get U.S. citizenship, plus the use of federal health, education and retirement programs, regardless of their initial education and work skills. The new decision also means that many of the Guatemalan women who have already crossed the border this year have a new claim for asylum.”

So, a bord of immigration appeals has decided that illegal immigrant women who claim to be victims of domestic violence is cause for the US to grant them asylum. What’s good for Guatemalan women will, of course, be good for women from whatever country, right? Clearly, Mr. Obama is going to get his way on amnesty no matter what the people or what the Congress feel about the issue. His unilateral actions on amnesty are not popular, but, as this excellent article at PJ Media points out, Obama doesn’t care:

Obama is already unpopular. It’s clear that he doesn’t care about his personal popularity anymore. He is playing a longer game to try to cement the majority of Hispanic voters to the Democratic Party. He considers that his legacy and will do just about anything to achieve it.

Yes indeed! LBJ was able to corral American blacks onto the government plantation as a permanent voting block for the Democratic Party and Barrack Obama plans to do the same thing with Hispanics, the fastest growing demographic in America. He does not care what long-term harm his actions will have on Hispanics and he cares even less what long-term harm his actions will have on America.

The flywheel set in motion to “transform” America is not going to slow down, much less stop. It’s too late for that now.

Change, Intervention, and Dependency


The concept of the government “solving” all the problems of the world has crept into our society over time. With every new program, every new entitlement, the public has  gradually become accustomed to the government solving the ills of the world. And what of fact that the government seemed to make all of these problems worse? Well, that’s neglected. After all, the government is taking care of it-I don’t have to worry about it, right?

Starting with the “progressive” movement in the late 19th century and accelerating greatly since the great depression, the government has vastly increased it’s meddling in human affairs.  Ignoring the Constitutional limits on its power, the government has expanded its powers and influence to impact everyone’s life, many times, with negative results.  This begs the question; does it really work?

While going over every government intervention would require writing a book, it might be prudent to to take an in-depth look at one: public education.

Since 1970, per pupil cost of public education, according to

Far from being an engine of wealth creation, the education system is bleeding the economy to death. The U.S. spends 2.3 times as much per pupil in real, inflation-adjusted dollars as it spent in 1970, but the return on this ballooning investment has been less than nothing.

And what is that return?  First, let’s take a look at some results of public education over time.  Here is the graduation rates in the Us, by state, in 1990.

So, all this extra money, and graduation rates continue to drop?

Next, let’s take a look at how much different states spend on education.  The next image is from the census bureau.

Utah spent the least per student ($5,257), followed by Arizona ($6,261), Idaho ($6,283), Mississippi ($6,575) and Oklahoma ($6,613). All 10 of the states with the lowest spending per student were in the West or South.

So, what are the results of this huge disparity?

Recent studies reinforce the disconnect between spending and achievement. For example, the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) “Report Card on American Education, a State-by-State Analysis 1976– 2000” concluded that “it is clear after studying the data and results that the policies of the past have failed to meet the educational needs of our country’s children. If we continue to spend more money on the existing educational system in an attempt to buy our way to better student achievement, we will condemn another generation of students to mediocrity.” The ALEC study showed no correlation between conventional measures of educational inputs (such as expenditures per pupil and teacher salaries) and educational outputs (such as scores on standardized tests). Simply stated, increased funding does not translate into improved achievement.

An analysis of per-pupil expenditures on a state-by-state basis is illuminating. For example, in the 1998–99 school year, Utah spent $3,807 per pupil whereas Maryland spent $7,059. There is little evidence to suggest that equalizing resources between the two states would equalize achievement. In the 1998 NAEP, 31 percent of eighth graders in both Utah and Maryland scored at proficient or better in reading, despite the large discrepancy in per-pupil expenditures. Also, based on several standardized tests, the ALEC report rated Iowa (ranked 32d in per-pupil expenditures) as having the top-performing public elementary and secondary schools in the nation, followed by Minnesota (14th in spending) and Wisconsin (9th). At the bottom of the achievement ratings were Mississippi (50th in spending), the District of Columbia (5th), and Louisiana (39th).

Expenditures per student have increased over time, and the distribution of the expenditures has been according to popular emphasis: The level of teacher education has increased, teacher experience has increased, and student-teacher ratios have fallen. But the desired outcome—student achievement—has remained flat.

So two of the sacred cows of education do not stand up to scrutiny.  Namely, class size and expenditures.  Both are mantras of the left, yet neither have any statistical relevance to graduation rate.  In simple terms, they have NO IMPACT AT ALL!  This however, does not dissuade the left from raising them as issues at any time educational funding is discussed.

This is just one example.  There are so many more.  For example, the government has run social (in)security into the ground. It’s a ponzi scheme anyway-one that makes Mr. Madoff look like a rank amateur.

They created the fraud and waste infested Medicare and Medicaid programs.  They’ve had 40 years to stop the (now, hundreds of) billions of dollars in yearly fraud and waste, with no meaningful results.

They were negligent over obvious warnings and caused the great recession with the CRA and by ignoring all of the warning signs that Fannie and Freddie were about to implode.  Instead, at the time, they attacked those releasing the warnings. They now deny their involvement, and instead blame the administration that released multiple warnings over the course of several years.  Ironically, the very warnings they ignored.

Even the Post Office is failing!  Not a good track record, yet the American people continue to accept these programs, and many ask for more.  Based on their record, they’re going to do a great job with health care, right?

As previously stated, as all of these programs are enacted, the people become comfortable with the concept of the government addressing social problems and issues, no matter how badly government performs.  But, there is a second, perhaps more damaging aspect to this; that government assistance creates dependency that allows for influence.  To illustrate this, let’s go back to the education example.  The public school districts obtain most of their funding either locally, or at the state level (note that this varies greatly by state).  However, the federal assistance they receive, as well as the federal funds the states receive, if removed, would cause a “crisis” in the schools.  They have become dependent on these funds to provide the services that they have established.  Any threat to that funding therefore creates a reaction from the benefiting organization.

It is helpful to remember that the first priority of any bureaucracy is self-maintenance.  The stated purpose or task of a bureaucracy is secondary, and is only done to the extent that the primary goal is met.  When the primary goal is threatened, there is an immediate reaction.  Even surviving at a diminished scale is not acceptable.  Protests will be organized, politicians will be lobbied, children & seniors will be exploited, and rent-a-mob will be paid, all in order to maintain the status quo (and influence/power!), even if that status quo is dysfunctional, or even destructive.

In this situation, government is in the position to issue mandates to states, communities, and organizations in order to receive government funding.  Government can use its checkbook as a means to push their agenda on the recipient organization.  If the government is leftist, the mandates will be to the left-if the government is to the right, the converse holds true.  Since the recipient organization is now dependent on the government money to maintain itself and it’s power, it has little choice but to go along with the scheme of the day.

Many organizations, in turn, lobby the government to help craft these mandates, or simply support them with some well-timed contributions and/or PR campaigns.  They then have the opportunity to use their influence over government to push their agenda.  When so many politicians and organizations are left leaning, is it a surprise that they manipulate us into following some leftist scheme that create more problems, or exacerbates existing ones?  The lobbying organizations use their influence over the government to manipulate the government into exerting influence over still others to push an agenda.

To illustrate, let’s again go to the educational arena.  With the government having an increased role in society, other groups benefit from the intervention, prompting them to lobby, donate, and otherwise influence the government’s activities.  For example, increased spending and decreased student to teacher ratios benefit the NEA.  The NEA supports and lobbies for the increased spending and benefits from all of the additional teachers that are hired as a result.  More teachers lead to more union dues, which lead to more money with which to influence the government, which leads to more teacher and union dues…you get the point.  In the end, powerful groups gain more power by influencing the government’s actions, as well as assuring their own funding stream.  Since many of these organizations, and particularly the NEA are leftist, the mandates that the government decrees are increasingly socialist in nature.  Here is evidence of the political nature of the NEA.  It is a long video, so the part of interest is at 16:00.

The results for public education are seen every day.  Violence, pregnancy, poor test scores, and increasing drop out rates have all continued, or even increased, with the advent of increased funding.  It actually appears that the social engineering aspect of education is the goal. With the teacher acting as facilitator, the children are guided, mislead, and manipulated to a pre-determined ideological mindset.  Again this is all set from Washington, with the left and the lobbyists manipulating each other, and, in the end, you and I.

Additionally, government and its supporters seek to eliminate all functional or ideological competition.  Taking the lead of most totalitarian regimes in the last century, they seek to eliminate threats to their eminence and power.  Other ideas are poisonous to their plans, so they are banned.  For example, home-schooled children do not meet their leftist ideological goals, and perform at a higher academic level.  Rather than take what works from this system, the left seeks to ban it.  Again, if high scores and knowledge were a concern, they might study the matter.  However, the goal is indoctrination, so home schooling must be ridiculed, restricted, and then banned.    They have not let this goal drop from their list of priorities, and they are using their influence with the state and federal governments in a schemes to gradually restrict, then ban, home schooling.  They can use their influence to write government legislation or regulations to their liking, while the other entities are subjected to the whims of the leftist government, as well as their well-fed supporters.  After all, government assistance comes with strings attached!

So, where does this leave us?  Caught in the middle of lobbyists, government, interest groups, thugs, goons, and mobs.  Each group uses it’s influence over government  to enrich and empower itself.  in turn government uses it’s “endless” checkbook to fund schools ( and other entities), and makes demands in exchange for the funding.  In the end, we all lose.

The solution to this mess is simple; return the federal government to its Constitutional role.  When the government does little, as it should, there is no motivation to influence it.  If the government has no influence over education, why would the NEA pay off some congressmen or senators?  If the federal government stayed out of health care, why would the insurance companies, big pharma, the unions, and any of a number of  leftist groups attempt to influence it?  If the government didn’t try to control and thereby ruin our energy supply, why would big oil try to influence it?  In the end, it is the size of government that creates the problem.  A large and powerful central government invites corruption and creates dependency-cutting it down to size solves both problems.  Power does corrupt, and the more power the government attaches to itself, the more corrupt it becomes.  It matters little if the administration is Democratic or Republican, the size of government, and it’s accompanying corruption, makes victims of us all.

Chris Christie nixes Common Core teacher testing requirements, keeps Commie Curriculum

All weekend the rumors swirled. Chris Christie was going to issue an Executive Order regarding Common Core, but no one knew what parts he was going to negate.

Well, now we know. In a sop to the teachers unions, Christie nixed the impact of standardized tests on teacher evaulations. So they’ll be teaching communism, but they won’t be graded on how many good like Marxists they churn out.

The Christie administration announced Monday that the state will roll back the impact of new standardized tests on teacher evaluations, in a reversal for the governor who has been a staunch supporter of the new academic standards linked to those exams. Christie also announced that he will launch a commission to study the effectiveness and impact of all standardized tests given in the state.chris christie

The two measures come amid growing criticism of new academic standards known as Common Core and the tests linked to them. Parents have complained that too much testing is harmful to students, while the teachers union has argued that the new exams have been rushed and that it’s too soon to judge teachers on the results. The standards have also been assailed by political conservatives who believe the federal government is defining what is taught in the classroom.

Let’s ignore for the moment how Conmon Core is yet another Obamunism Mandate. Because that alone makes it suspect. Anything that comes from the same folks who brought us Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings and the GLSEN reading list can’t be good for America’s children.

This was Christie’s chance to differentiate himself from Obama, and by extension, Hillary Clinton. They’re the Big Government authoritarians. They push this one-size-fits-all top-down bureaucratic banality. In what universe is keeping Conmon Core intact even remotely congruent with Conservative principles?


Teacher admits he helped write Common Core to end white privilege – Audience is upset


Listen to this teacher freely admit that he helped write Common Core because of his “white privilege.” The audience is visibly and audibly upset, reacting with boos, laughter and one person saying, “Oh come on!”


A teacher who helped write the controversial Common Core State Standards informed a shocked audience that he was motivated to do so because he is a “white male” who has been “given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn.”

Dr. David Pook, a professor at Granite State College and chair of the history department at the Derryfield School in Manchester, New Hampshire, had just been introduced at the event at New Hampshire Institute of Politics on Monday night when he delved into his ties to Common Core.

“The reason why I helped write the standards and the reason why I am here today is that as a white male in society I am given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn,” he said.

Segregation on Rise in Schools; Need Better Education; Policies Failing


According to the AP a report by the Civil Rights Project at UCLA findings showed that segregation in schools is on the rise 60 years after the Brown Supreme Court decision. Blacks, Latinos, and other minorities are making up 90 percent of the students in a number of schools in New York, Texas, California, Maryland, Illinois, and Michigan.

The Civil Rights Project found that in central cities among the largest metropolitan areas contain more segregation than in suburban areas.  Do you think as citizens that we segregate ourselves of our own volition? Lower middle class individuals hang round others in the lower middle class?  Upper middle class associate with persons who are also in the upper middle class?  Poor hang around other poor individuals? Wealthy hang out with those who are wealthy?  Two things that probably transcend economics is certain groups or activities and religious communities.

One student in Chicago said that she had to transfer to another school due to hers not offering biology and world studies.  These two classes are needed to graduate.  There is absolutely no reason why a school in a poorer area doesn’t teach all the courses necessary for graduation.  I wonder if any classes being taught at the schools in poor sections of cities can be eliminated to make room for the necessary subjects to graduate?

“Many blame the schools for failing, or teachers, but they never blame the bad policies put in place in schools,” Griffin said. “A teacher can only teach to a certain extent with the resources. It’s the policies put in place that’s failing the students.”

I know teachers’ unions are against vouchers as are most people working in public schools but I believe vouchers would be a good option for parents to send their children to different schools if the school they are going to is failing them or has subpar standards. Charter schools is another option for students to obtain a better education.  Obviously improvements need to be made in schools which are in economically disadvantaged areas.  Policies need to be changed so we don’t fail the students by not giving them the tools they need in order to be successful in life.


Most Segregated Schools are in Democratic States


Would it be a big surprise if the states with the most segregated schools were democratic bastions?  You know, the party of slavery?  The party of Jim Crow?  The Party of the KKK?  The Party of Margaret Sanger and the “Negro Project,” AKA Planned Parenthood?  Yeah, that democrat party.  They seem to be keeping their racist traditions going, as evidenced by the following…

The state with the most segregated public schools is New York.

Other states with exceptionally segregated schools include California, Illinois and Michigan.

These findings come from a longitudinal study of enrollment figures conducted by the Civil Rights Project at the University of California at Los Angeles, The Associated Press reports. The period studied was 1998 through 2010.

New York, California, Illinois and Michigan are traditionally among the most reliably Democratic states in the union, as an interactive 2012 map created by Slate shows.

A 2013 “State of the States” feature by Gallup indicates that New York, California and Illinois are “solid Democratic” strongholds. Michigan leans Democratic.

If you recall, it is democrats that actively prevent black students from escaping failing public schools.  Here is a video from several years back…

But, are African Americans really victims or racist Conservatives, or racist leftists? Well, lets take a look at a school that takes poor African American kids, and sends 85% of them to college-well over the national average…

Now, just take a second and absorb that.  A mostly white mob surrounds a school filled with mostly black, SUCCESSFUL students, and as you heard at the end, the man, who reportedly is a public school official, suggests that choice is being targeted as well-meaning, like in all choice situations, the unions want them shut down.  That, of course, would condemn all the children within to the failed public system-guaranteeing that the cycle of dependence continues.

Once again, a mostly white mob surrounds a school that sends most of their black students to college, and promises to shut the school down.

And, as we covered a month ago, Communist NY Mayor Bill de Blasio discovered that black children were learning to read at charter schools, so he’s trying to shut them down as well…

Like all good, white,  progressives, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio heard that charter schools were successfully teaching dark skinned children how to read, so he’s trying to shut them down…

So, it comes as no surprise that another progressive socialist is attacking another school choice program, charter schools.

As John Fund reported in the National Review, “Last week, New York’s ACORN mayor Bill De Blasio announced he is evicting Success Academy, a widely praised charter school from the Harlem public school building it occupies. Two other charter schools will be blocked from opening. He claims elementary-school kids wouldn’t be safe in a building with high-school students. His excuse is as absurd as the propaganda Vladimir Putin is using to justify the occupation of Crimea.”

If I may put this into the vernacular, De Blasio is a liberal socialist racist jackass who is more concerned with supporting the corrupt teachers’ unions than ensuring deserving minority children can get a better educational opportunity. And don’t give me the blather about him being married to a black woman, obviously she is a progressive elitist who cares not for young black mothers who want something better for their children.

According to Fund, Danique Loving, the principal of Success Academy, notes that “one out of every four African-American boys who drops out of school ends up in jail. That’s what Mayor de Blasio would be focusing on if he were really worried about the safety of our students.” Eva Moskowitz, the CEO of Success Academy, showed up last night at the New York Meeting, a group of political activists and donors, to blast the de Blasio decision and announce she would lead a rally today in Albany, the state capitol, to protest it.

See, charter schools do what the public schools cannot and will not:  teach black children how to read and write. So, when progressives find schools that do that, they always seek to limit them, and then shut them down.  After all, they can’t have black folks getting off the plantation, can they?

And, democrats block the school doors now, just as they did to defend segregation in the 1960’s…

Pro-Choice: The Justice Department has asked a federal court to stop 34 school districts in Louisiana from handing out private-school vouchers so kids can escape failing public schools, just like the president’s daughters.

He didn’t say it on the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream Speech,” but President Obama, along with Attorney General Eric Holder, also has a dream — one of leaving every black child in the Pelican State behind, trapped in schools that cannot educate them.

Almost simultaneously with the president’s speech, Holder’s Department of Justice filed suit in federal court to stop Louisiana’s statewide voucher program.

Passed in 2012, the program guarantees a voucher to students from families with incomes below 250% of poverty and who attend schools graded “C” or below.

Liberals are all for choice when it comes to having children, but not when it comes to educating them. The irony of Obama’s speech is that he pretended to honor a man who fought to have black children attend schools they were barred from as his administration fought to keep them in schools they can’t escape from, a form of educational apartheid that’s both separate and unequal.

Once again, just like the 60?s, Republicans are trying to open doors, and Democrats are barring them.  Look it up, it’s history.

Just think about it though, they’re just following what LBJ said so long ago…

To answer this, I think we again need to go back into history, and see what happened in the 60’s. Let’s start with some quotes attributed to LBJ.

As usual, there are many more examples, and I could go on and basically do a wall of text that no one will read.  However, the point is well made-that the democrats have never changed their racist ways.  They have simply changed their rhetoric, and have played the blame game so well that far too many of our fellow citizens actually believing that the democrats are helping them, when everything continues to get worse.


Public, Private, and Home-Schools


I saw where some liberals took issue with my article yesterday about a sex poster on display in a Kansas middle school. I scratch my head at statements such as,  … children ought to be raised with the necessary background to fit into a diverse society if they plan on remaining in the greater American Community. 

I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer so … what the hell does that mean?


…Right Wingers appear to tend toward a little “Separatist Elitism” when they blow off about the advantages of private schooling and home schooling …

Now folks I’ve said it  before and I’ll say it again …  It is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you’re a fool  than open it and remove all doubts.

About 40% of representatives in the House and over 40% of U.S. Senators send their kids to private schools, compared to about 11% of regular Americans.  Not to mention Mr. Obama, Rahm Emanuel, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Bill and Hillary Clinton sent Chelsea to private school. So, I’m not convinced that “Right Wingers” are the only ones feeling a little “separatist elitism”.

Oh, just a side note here for liberals who spout off the nonsense of  …  “Right-Wingers” are those who prefer to have their children educated in an isolated bubble much the same as the one they themselves choose to live in … (the “isolated bubbles” of home and/or private schooling) …


  … public school teachers are about twice as likely as non-teachers to send their  own children to private schools.
About 11% of all parents — nationwide, rural and urban — send their children  to private schools. The numbers are much higher in urban areas. One study found  that in Philadelphia a staggering 44% of public school teachers send their own  kids to private schools.

In Cincinnati and Chicago, 41% and 39% of public school teachers pay for a  private school education for their children. In Rochester, N.Y., it’s 38%, in  Baltimore 35%, in San Francisco 34% and in New York-northeastern New Jersey  33%.

In Los Angeles nearly 25% of public school teachers send their kids to  private school versus 16% of Angelenos who do so.



Okay, instead of presenting just “one side” of the story like my accusers tend to claim,  the following is the argument for public school education being superior to home-schooling …

Advantages of Public Schools Compared to Homeschools

  • Public schools generally have a range of children from the whole gamut of socioeconomic classes and a wide variety of backgrounds. This is the type of community that most people occupy as adults, and public school is an opportunity to meet it and learn to negotiate with other points of view an understand people with diverse backgrounds and values.
  • Public schools generally have students with a range of abilities and disabilities. As with ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, the diversity introduces students to the communication issues and interpersonal issues that rubbing elbows with people who are different from oneself provides.
  • The number of students in a public school classroom provides opportunities that don’t exist in most homeschools, from large-cale projects to team sports.
  • The number of students and funding allows public schools to have facilities (such as a skating rink or pool) and/or purchase equipment, such as laboratory equipment and technology that would be prohibitive for most homesechool families.
  • The number of students and funding often allows public schools, particularly at the high school level, to offer an array of advanced classes in the arts, technology studies, and the sciences, any and all of which might be difficult to conduct for homeschooling parents who do not happen to have specialized training.
  • Public schools expose students to a variety of teachers: even in situations with one main classroom teacher, students may have additional instructors for foreign language, home economics, shop, physical education, drama, music, art, etc. This gives them an opportunity to learn with diverse pedagogies.
  • Public schools often offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities, ranging from intramural sports to a range of clubs and other opportunities.

And now the arguments for public school education being superior to private schooling …

Advantages of Public Schools Compared to Private Schools

  • Public schools don’t charge tuition, while private schools do. Even scholarships an other aid may not cover the difference.
  • Public schools usually provide transportation for students who live more than a few blocks away, whereas private schools usually do not.
  • With ninety percent of all American children in public school, public education is a uniting element and can be seen as an important factor in our democratic way of life.
  • Because public school education now includes magnet schools and charter schools, as well as traditional public schools, there are – right within the public education system – choices that have many of the features of education that used only to be attainable in private schools.
  • As a result of receiving Federal funds, public schools must follow strict teacher certification rules, which do not apply in many private schools. As a result, public school teachers may, in some cases, be better qualified than private school teachers.
  • Researchers at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana found, when examining data from a standardized math exam taken by fourth and eighth graders, that if they excluded the influence of family background and socioeconomic factors, public school students did slightly better than private school students.
  • Public schools often have more robust services than generalist private schools (i.e., those that are not focused on a specialty population with a particular disability) for assisting students with disabilities, both in terms of staff and funding.
  • Pay for public school teachers is overall better than pay for private school teachers, though this differs by school.




Okay my conclusion in the comparison between public schools and private and/or homeschooling … public schools are great for those who want to “rub elbows” with kids of differing personalities; those who are interested in  team sports, skating rinks and swimming pools and/or extracurricular activities.  As far as actually getting educated, as far as having an environment supportive of learning something besides “how to express your sexual feelings“, The public school system has been reduced into a social club and a place where the innocence of our kids is stolen from them by “empowering young adolescents” to explore their sexual fantasies. The vast majority of public school kids can’t hold a candle to your typical homeschooled kid for an opportunity of success.

Next to even suggest that public schools compare at all to private schools in the quality of the education is ludicrous. If that’s true why the above facts regarding politicians and even teachers preferring a private education for their children?

Destroying the False Racial Narrative and Creating True Equality


This is a post that I originally wrote from October to December of 2010.  It took time to do the research properly, and I run it again every New Years Day.  It is my hope that one day, all of our citizens are treated as Americans, not as hyphenated groups to be divided by the political elites.  -Matt

I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve read blogs, from both ends of the spectrum, that talk about African-Americans as if they are a monolithic voting bloc that will ALWAYS vote Democrat. We’ve all seen the videos of African Americans thinking that Obama will pay their mortgages, or that they are going to get “Obama Money,” from his “stash.” Since these are well-publicized cases, they are influencing our perceptions about an entire group of people. So, the question is, is that all true?

And, if is it really that way, will it change? You see, I question both of those assumptions. While the voting issue is true, what is the basis for it? History tells us that that after the civil war, most African-Americans were Republicans, and the first African American Congressmen from the south belonged to the GOP. We also know that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican. It is also true that Democrats were responsible for the Jim Crow laws, and that the southern Democrats resisted the civil rights era legislation vehemently. So, that leaves us with something that bears examining; why did African Americans switch to voting over 90% Democrat in every election?

To answer this, I think we again need to go back into history, and see what happened in the 60’s. Let’s start with some quotes attributed to LBJ.

Those two quotes from LBJ are rather telling. For me, they point to a deception of action, as well as a deception of intent. Clearly, LBJ was suggesting that he could win the African American vote by making some promises, and delivering little…”just enough.”.

Obviously, these two quotes have been floating around for a long time, and many are going to suggest that they were never said at all. But, let’s take a look at what has happened, and see if what LBJ said has come to pass. After all, people can say many things, but it’s their actions that show their true intent.

Let’s take a look at some examples…

Welfare and the breakdown of the family:

The various welfare programs of the 1960’s had a tremendous impact on the African American family. Not long after the creation of these programs, the rates of fatherless families began to rise. They have continued to rise for decades, and now, over 70% of African American children grow up without a father living in the home. That was not the case prior to welfare, and the programs have been identified as the cause for this. As well all know, children raised in fatherless homes are many times more likely to have lower educational achievement, use drugs, and engage in other criminal activities. However, what has been done to correct it? Has the intervention of the government really made it better…or worse?

We also should remember how Democrats always resist efforts to reform Welfare to correct abuses and the negative societal impacts of the programs  Even Clinton vetoed welfare reform before the Congress strong-armed him into signing it.  And, when Obama got into office, and the Democrats owned the Congress, most of those reforms were stripped out.

Or, was it, “…we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”


It is also well know that the educational system has failed our children. We also know that minority children suffer even more.

As for graduation rates…

The national graduation rate for the class of 1998 was 71%. For white students the rate was 78%, while it was 56% for African-American students and 54% for Latino students.

And for illiteracy…

Graduation, Dropouts, and Preparedness

  • African American high school students are notably falling behind their white counterparts in graduation rates, dropout rates, literacy rates, and college preparedness rates.

  • In 2005, only 55 percent of all black students graduated from high school on time with a regular diploma, compared to 78 percent of whites.

  • In 2005, the on-time graduation rate for black males was 48 percent nationally; for white males it was 74 percent.

  • Nearly half of the nation’s African American students, but only 11 percent of white students, attend high schools in which graduation is not the norm.

  • In 2002, 23 percent of all black students who started public high school left it prepared for college, compared to 40 percent of whites.

  • On average, African American and Hispanic twelfth-grade students read at approximately the same level as white eighth graders.

  • About half of poor, urban ninth graders read at only a fifth- or sixth-grade level.

  • The National Assessment of Educational Progress reports that 88 percent of African American eighth graders read below grade level, compared to 62 percent of white eighth graders.

Now, we’ve seen successful alternatives, but “progressives” in the unions attack these, and when President Obama was elected, he shut down the DC waiver program, which greatly benefited mostly poor, African American kids.  In fact, all efforts designed to allow minority children to escape the public schools that constantly fail them are met with massive resistance from the democrats and their supporters.


Instead, the government makes many promises, and insists on spending more money on the same failed system. Essentially, they end up purchasing more failure.

Or, is it, “…we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”


The U.S. Labor Department reported on Friday that unemployment for African Americans increased to 16.3% in August 2010 from 15.6% in July 2010.  The percentage point increase was greater than it was for Whites and Hispanics.  Overall unemployment climbed to 9.6% for the month of August from the July unemployment rate of 9.5%.

So, the unemployment rate is higher for African Americans as well. Of course, President Obama has promised to focus on this, but he has delivered nothing.  Or, as I like to put it, President Obama stated he would focus on black unemployment like a laser beam.  He just didn’t tell them it was a death ray!

Or, is it, “…we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”

As you look at this, it is easy to conclude that not only has government action/programs made the situation worse, but they also seem intent on keeping it the same. I would hypothesize that there is a reason for this: If government can keep any group dependent, they can then extract support from that group. They create a circumstance in which a large segment of the population is keep poor and undereducated, effectively preventing that group from escaping poverty. Then, every election cycle, the Democrats come foreword and tell that group that the other party wants to kill them, jail them, and take away all of their benefits. By combining dependency, poverty, illiteracy, and hate, they can convince a group to vote for them every time.

In essence, I believe that the Democrats have intentionally acted in a way to “Cloward-Piven” a large segment of the African American community, by making them dependent on government assistance, and placing roadblocks for individuals in that community to be successful. After all, a person may want to succeed, but if they can’t get an education that provided even the most basic of skills, and they are penalized for any positive effort by a prohibitive loss of benefits, will that person eventually give up and not even try? And, what happens to that population of people after generations of the same? I think we can project the answer to that. As I suggested in the post, “Why Hope can Kill the Progressive Agenda,” people trapped in hopelessness for generations forget that there is any hope at all. In fact, we see the results of these policies on a tragically regular basis.

This is racist. Not the bed sheet wearing, ignorant redneck variety, but the soft racism of the nanny state and elites. Through all of this, I think the Democratic Party is just a racist as they always were. They simple present it differently (remember “calling it something else?”). They don’t believe that the African American can succeed, so they are content to “manage” him. Why provide good education if they can’t do well anyway? Why present opportunity and freedom when they don’t believe that the African American can use those to their own advantage? Just build housing, send in food stamps, and have horrifically inadequate schools, and leave them to poverty. Through the decades, it’s what they have done.

You know, “…we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”

So, I think the phrase “government plantation” is a completely accurate representation of the current relationship between our elitist government and the African American community. When you look at the totality of the problem, their actions show their true beliefs. In fact, the evidence becomes over whelming.

It seems like an insurmountable challenge, but I believe that there is incredible untapped human potential in the African American community. I say this because when good educational choices are available, African American children excel, just like any other group. Their scores rise to rival anyone’s, and all the negative outcomes start to decrease. So, it is safe to say that real education reform (ending government intrusion, union domination, and instituting real local control) would be the final nail in the coffin for the soft racist policies of the elitist left.

However, it wouldn’t end there. There are millions of people of all races that are caught in the poor education-poverty-crime-hopeless trap. To help them, or in some cases, encourage them, to escape, we’d also have to do a phase-down on the nanny state. Benefits would have to be restructured, yet again, to encourage success, and not penalize it. Caps and limits would need to be imposed to put an end to system-induced inter-generational dependency. That would be a difficult sell, but so worth it in the end.

The total effort would take nearly a generation to see tangible results, as it would take that long to begin reform, and educate a full generation of children. Once accomplished, however, the US would see a economic and cultural renaissance. As African-Americans, Hispanics, and other groups take their rightful place in our society, the US would be transformed. This would not be the “fundamental” government-forced change, but an organic one; based on ideas, innovations, merit, and creativity. Everyone would truly be able to advance to the limits of their own talents, skills, and persistence. We would cease to be a “hyphenated” society, as we would all be peers-truly equal in our opportunity, and respectful of the accomplishments of our fellow Americans.

Being an insatiable alcoholic reader I often find myself sleeping until 2 pm and then vomiting browsing the web looking for documents relevant to this blog.  Accordingly it gives me great pleasure to present to my readers a document I found on the Democratic National Committee’s website entitled “Declaration on Democratic Education.”


The Sacred Democratic Party has given careful consideration to the paramount importance of education.  In fact the education of youth and the continuing education of adults is rendered more necessary by the existence of Fox News and conservative bloggers.

For her part Holy Mother Democratic Party in order to fulfill the mandate she received from her founders to announce the mystery of statism is under an obligation to promote the welfare state.

Accordingly the Sacred Democratic Party hereby promulgates some fundamental principles concerning indoctrination of Democratic youth.

  1. All men, woman and transgendered  of whatever race, condition or age, unless they are white men of northern European origin who don’t work in Hollywood and aren’t millionaires have an inalienable right to Democratic indoctrination. True eductation is directed towards the formation of the human person and of that society to which he belongs.  Democratic tradition calls this the social contract.
  2. As they grow older they should receive a positive education in matters relating to sex.  Particularly questions like:
  • Is ten years old too early to masturbate
  • I’m 12 and I think I’m gay.  Can I have sex with an older man just to try it out?
  • I heard prostitution is empowering. 
  • I want to grow breasts and become a transsexual.  Why won’t Republicans let insurance companies cover this?
  • How do I start a career in porn?
  • My teacher wants me to touch his thing.
  • Oral sex not dodge ball for gym class!
  • My 14 year old girlfriend is pregnant and my parents won’t drive us to the abortion clinic.  What are my options?
  • They didn’t tell me in health class if swallowing is good for me.  Do you have any documentation on this?
  • I play trombone in the band.  Should I switch to a rusty trombone?
  • Is bestiality an option?
  • Is giving blow jobs for milk money an example of the social contract?

Accordingly  the Sacred Democratic Party affirms that children and teenagers have the right to be stimulated in the classroom by their teachers. We earnestly request that all those in charge of education ensure that young people are never deprived of the opportunity to express themselves sexually.

Such an education ensures that teens are introduced to their sexual organs and the sexual organs of their friends and teachers.  They will also benefit by being exposed at an early age on how to best achieve orgasm.

Moreover conscious of their sexuality they should learn to give witness to Democratic values and contribute to the growth of the Democratic Body.

Parallel Universe Alert: Melissa Harris-Perry Claims That Detroit was Killed by too Little Government



Was Detroit bankrupted  by too little government?  Well, if you ask Melissa Harris-Perry, we re living in a parallel universe where human nature and reality itself is the polar opposite of itself, and too little government did bring Detroit to it’s knees.  First, let’s take a look at Harris-Perry’s comments…

Um, not only did she deny reality, but she found a way to bash Republicans, who last ran Detroit in 1961. She also misses the high taxes that scared away businesses, the horrific crime rate that scared away the people that didn’t leave because of the taxes, the abysmal education system that makes sure that the citizens remain low information, , and the unions that scared most of the auto industry away. Obviously, it was big government that killed Detroit.

The sad thing is that there will be people that see this nonsense, and actually believe Melissa Harris-Perry. And, these people vote, probably repeatedly.  The upside, thankfully, is that not many peoiple actually watch MSNBC anyway, so the damage is hopefully minimal.
