See? There IS hope for the kooky left!

Read on for why she “left the religion.”

Because as a scientist, I can do the math. How do you explain the 18 years of zero temperature increases, when CO2 levels have continued to rise?

The computer model predictions have all failed, every single one of them.

I recommend Watts Up With That You can read the studies, they give all the links and analysis there.

Please don’t Google ‘deniers’ & run back to me saying that it is not a credible site, go see the studies, the math, & the manipulation of data for yourself. Because there are literally trillions of dollars at stake, so of course there is a vested interest in keeping this thing going. If you disagree with something I say, quote me exactly which sentences you disagree with, then show me the actual research that contradicts what I have said.

Follow the money [and] you will see where the truth lies. Say it were true: If you believe that humans cause climate change, how does moving vast quantities of money help that? Exactly how would a carbon tax help and exactly when would we see the verification of that?

Australia’s carbon tax was to take $139 billion out of the pockets of the taxpayers. Had it been successful, it was supposed to reduce CO2 from the atmosphere from 412 parts per million (ppm) all the way down to 411.87 ppm.

That would have been a reduction of 13/100 of a part per million. It is imperceptible The computer model predictions have ALL failed, yet people want other people, poor people, to die today due to lack of cheap energy and clean water.

…If there were no harm associated with the “green” policies, then it would not matter, but people are actually being harmed right now by energy poverty. People in Germany are illegally cutting wood in the historic Black Forest, just to heat their homes and stay alive. People are being forced to decide between heat and food, due to the massive increases in energy prices in Ontario, so that we can pay 15x the market rate for wind electricity and be forced to pay the Americans to take our excess electricity. Meanwhile, the only true green energy in Canada; hydroelectric power, has to be shut down to keep from destabilizing the grid when the wind is blowing. That’s right, water is diverted from the turbines at Niagara Falls, so you can pay 15x the rate to subsidize big green. Don’t lie to yourself, those are not wind farms, they are not farming the wind, they are farming the subsidies and taking money out of your pocket by theft.

…I cannot fault anyone for buying into this, originally, I had too. The news media has been hard selling it for years. When you do an internet search and most of the results tell you something is true, does that mean that it is true? You may get angry with me for suggesting that you have been duped, so go do the math and research for yourselves. Is it possible that you have been lied to? When they give a stat like: 97% of all scientists agree, it sounds compelling. Isn’t it interesting how that study looked at 10,000 papers and out of those, only chose 70 something to claim a 97% consensus from?

…BTW, I’ve been to the Antarctic peninsula, it is not melting. Gore went there in 2012 to prove how much had melted, notice that he never followed up on that?

As they say on the real blogs, read the whole thing, if for no other reason than its excellent denouement of Al Gore.

White House Memo: Don’t Mention Temperature When Discussing Global Warming

The temperatures aren’t rising?

Then we’ll switch to calling it “Climate Change” instead of “Global Warming.”

The temperatures STILL aren’t rising?

Er, um, don’t mention temperature when talking about Global Warming.

Yes, the Gore-distas really are that pathetic…

First rule about global warming: don’t talk global warming.

The White House quietly released a draft guidance telling federal agencies to consider the impact more carbon dioxide emissions will have on the environment, but only in terms of how much more carbon dioxide will be emitted.

When conducting environmental impact analyses on rules and projects, federal agencies should only talk about carbon dioxide emissions increases — not things like potential increases in temperature, precipitation, storm intensity and other environmental impacts that scientists warn about.

“In light of the difficulties in attributing specific climate impacts to individual projects, [Council on Environmental Quality] recommends agencies use the projected [greenhouse gas] emissions and also, when appropriate, potential changes in carbon sequestration and storage, as the proxy for assessing a proposed action’s potential climate change impacts,” the White House wrote in its guidance federal regulatory agencies conducting environmental reviews.

Why is that? Federal environmental assessments will likely show regulations have a negligible impact on the environment in terms of temperature rises, sea level rises and such — indeed if every industrialized country stopped emitting carbon dioxide tomorrow, temperatures would only be reduced 0.21 degrees Celsius by 2100.

“CEQ recognizes that many agency [National Environmental Policy Act] analyses to date have concluded that [greenhouse gas] emissions from an individual agency action will have small, if any, potential climate change effects,” the White House wrote.

Basically the White House is telling agencies not to make any predictions about how much an individual project or program will impact the environment through global warming because there’s too much uncertainty.

“In other words, it would prove that the assessment of climate change impacts of federal actions, as directed by the CEQ, to be a complete and utter waste of time,” writes Patrick Michaels and Chip Knappenberger, climate scientists with the libertarian Cato Institute.

The Cato scientists argue the White House’s order to agencies not to consider the actual environmental impacts of global warming allows the government to hide how little its actions will actually impact the climate.

Michaels and Knappenberger say climate models, which the federal government has spent billions of dollars developing, can be used to quantify the environmental impacts from higher carbon dioxide emissions.

But what the Obama administration doesn’t want you to see is just how small an impact individual federal actions will have on temperature increases, sea level rises, precipitation and other factors.

“So instead of assessing actual climate impacts (of which there are none) of federal actions, the CEQ directs agencies to cast the effect in terms of greenhouse gas emissions—which can be used for all sorts of mischief,” write Michaels and Knappenberger. “For example, see how the EPA uses greenhouse gas emissions instead of climate change to promote its regulations limiting carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.”

The EPA says its rule to cut carbon dioxide emissions from power plants 30 percent by 2030 will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 555 million metric tons per year in 15 years — sounds like a lot, but it will have a negligible impact on global temperatures.

Even if the EPA got rid of carbon dioxide from all power plants currently operating, global temperature rises by 0.03 degrees Celsius by 2100.

“Government action occurs incrementally, program-by-program and step-by-step, and climate impacts are not attributable to any single action, but are exacerbated by a series of smaller decisions, including decisions made by the government,” the White House wrote.

“Therefore, the statement that emissions from a government action or approval represent only a small fraction of global emissions is more a statement about the nature of the climate change challenge, and is not an appropriate basis for deciding whether to consider climate impacts under [the National Environmental Policy Act],” the White House added.

Cheap Energy and our Foreign Policy

There are a few Conservative icons that I look up to. One of them is Bill Whittle. His short videos are always jam-packed with great information, razor sharp political insight and just enough acerbic wit to provide you with your chuckle for the day. One of his latest videos in his Afterburner series is right on point in his analysis of the Russian/Ukraine situation, the United States energy policy, and our reluctance to go after cheap energy. Take a few minutes and check it out.

Obama Tells Africans to Live in Thatch Huts

In the name of fighting Global Cooling Global Warming Climate Change The Big Lie, US President Barak Obama informed an audience in Africa that they can n0t be allowed to develop, lest the “planet will boil over.”

CNS News reported:

President Barack Obama said at a town hall event in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday that unless we find new way of producing energy “the planet will boil over” if people in Africa are allowed to attain air conditioning, automobiles and big houses.

“Ultimately, if you think about all the youth that everybody has mentioned here in Africa, if everybody is raising living standards to the point where everybody has got a car and everybody has got air conditioning, and everybody has got a big house, well, the planet will boil over — unless we find new ways of producing energy.”

Could you imagine the reaction if President Bush had said this?

Obama is such a racist!

Explaining the Opposition to Drilling and Fracking: A Michigan Teacher’s Perspective

Michigan apparently is sitting on valuable oil and gas reserves and is quickly becoming a battleground between those people who want to environmentally extract these valuable resources to power America and those who worship the Green God.

Those who worship the Green God believe that no drilling should occur in their backyard, although they will repeatedly state that they have no problem with it being done in a much more environmentally destructive manner in other areas and then being shipped at great damage to the environment to them to power their cars and homes. These people believe that those who do want to drill are all part of some hidden conspiracy that includes the regulators, the regulated, elected officials, and any citizen who supports drilling in an environmentally friendly manner, but they through their superior morality and intelligence have seen through this conspiracy and know the real TRUTH. They don’t really want to protect the environment, you see- in many cases these groups actually oppose drilling even if it is done in an environmentally safe way that bans controversial methods like hydraulic fracturing (better known as “fracking”)- these people are not so much environmentalists who care about the environment and doing things in a manner that protects it, but rather they are worshipers of an old religion and shout their beliefs from a wellspring of faith.

These worshipers of the Green God believe in an elaborate cosmology describing the struggle between a good, spiritual world of light, and an evil, material world of darkness. They will frequently make derogatory comments about the material world, sneering at money and budgets and putting food on the table and powering their cars, instead speaking lovingly of some sort of greater spiritual world that is being damaged by these things. They view what is happening with fracking and drilling as some sort of ongoing process in which they are battling a historic battle to keep the light of the environment protected from those who are gradually processing and drilling it and moving it into the world of matter. Of course they know the real knowledge of the world, having watched some sort of movie or youtube clip or read it on the internet. They gather in their societies and have meetings where they talk about these ideas until everyone is faithfully preaching the same message. And then they go forth to battle those who would harm the light of the world by drilling it and using it, screaming ‘shame on you’ on those who they oppose as the pass judgement on them, which they see as only natural since they have achieved mystic enlightenment, or gnosis, whereby others have not.

At local meetings around Michigan that are discussing proposals to drill or engage in hydraulic fracturing, logical arguments are advanced and sensible safeguards are proposed, but in meeting after meeting- Barry County, West Bloomfield, Waterford, Rochester, Ionia, etc- the meetings inevitably break down in order as those who worship the Green God are not interested in logic or reasoning or really even protecting the environment- to them it is instead a matter of questioning their faith.

For example, Independence Township Board is currently considering a proposal from Jordan Exploration, an oil and gas company from Traverse City. Jordan Exploration has offered to enter into a nondevelopmental lease with the township board, which wouldn’t allow a wellhead on township property. Instead, wellheads would be located on nearby properties owned by private landowners. In other communities they have also promised (and signed a legally bind document that stated this) that they would not engage in fracking on township land- or any other land in the community that they legally could do so- if the lease was signed. And they would pay generous royalties to the community that would help them to pay police, fire, library staff, and build parks and sidewalks. And America would become more energy secure and prosperous. And the whole process would be supervised by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), with environmental groups ready to sue if any sort of infractions occurred. It’s a good deal that only someone who was motivated by something other than logic and reasoning could oppose.

Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash is obviously this sort of person- at that meeting he said- “you can put on all the safeguards you want, but human nature is we’re not perfect and things happen.” This sort of idea that human beings are imperfect yet the environment is fits with the Manichaeism ideology that is the older form of the worship of the Green God.

At the Independence Township Board meeting and others, experts and geologists and those in the industry and even lawyers came forward to testify that the environmentally friendly route to go that would also provide revenue to the township would be to sign the lease- and yet the worshipers of the Green God kept calling out for a “real expert” to testify on their behalf. But in all honesty, they were not looking for an expert to speak on the issue- they wanted a priest of their religion to testify and call down the wrath of their God on the unbelievers. The wild look in their eyes betrayed their agenda- go to these meetings yourself and you will see, as I did at recent meetings in Genesee County over this issue.

And the saddest part of this whole debate is that those who oppose fracking ‘in the name of protecting the environment’ really are producing more damage to the environment. Their opposition to fracking is lessening the use of natural gas, which offers significant public health and climate benefits over coal and was once seen as the bridge fuel to a clean energy future. But better public health, protecting the climate, and a cleaner energy future aren’t really the goals of those who oppose fracking- instead, it is a worthy tithe to the Green God that demonstrates their superior morality over the other fallen beings of the material world.

Celebrities such as Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Robert Redford, Mark Ruffalo, Mario Batali, Scarlett Johansson, Alec Baldwin, and Matt Damon have spoken out against the expansion of natural gas drilling, producing movies like Gasland and speaking at fancy events on the issue- even though natural gas provides a very substantial health benefit in reducing air pollution and leads to tremendous health gains (source). These are simply false prophets leading followers of a false god to a worse world.

Be prepared- followers of the Green God or some sort of other Gnostic god will increase as our schools churn out more children filled with dubious scientific knowledge, rejecting Christianity, and filled with a willingness to assert their opinions vociferously even though they are unable to put together a coherent argument. We must teach these people and work to move our nation back to a more moral, logical, spiritual, and prosperous path that includes more environmentally safe drilling and oil exploration.

Obama’s Second Term EPA to Destroy Coal Industry

Apparently, the Obama Administration is holding back on announcing new regulations, especially from the EPA.  It would seem that the Administration does not want prospective voters knowing what the EPA will be up to.  However, Freedom Works has some relevant information…

First, an October report from Republican Sen. James Inhofe indicated that the EPA specifically “punted” on numerous regulations in an attempt to “earn votes” for a second term.

Then, the administration illegally failed to meet a deadline for releasing regulatory plans for the coming year, a move which prompted Inhofe to release the following statement:

“President Obama is refusing to comply with the law that requires him to publish forthcoming regulations because he doesn’t want the American public to know the terrible cost of the regulatory barrage he plans to unleash in a second term.”

The actual cutback in October regulations and subsequent plans in November bear this out.  We’ve seen an unprecedented number of ‘economically significant’ regulations being approved by the Obama administration last month.  Reports indicate that there were only 4 regulations approved during October, while Obama has averaged over 40 such regulations on average over his term.

Inhofe warns that 2013 will be much different – wide-sweeping regulations will be coming from the White House … after the election.  And it won’t be a pretty scene for the jobs scene in coal country:

The Oklahoma senator and ranking Republican on the chamber’s Committee on Environment and Public Works has released a report stating that when the agency approves the roughly one dozen regulations next year in 2013, they will “spell doom” for jobs and economic growth… ‘These rules taken together will inevitably result in the elimination of millions of American jobs, drive up the price of gas at the pump even more, impose construction bans on local communities and essentially shut down American oil, natural gas and coal production.’”

New EPA regulations will facilitate the closing of up to 69,000 megawatts of coal-fueled electric generation, and will sever up to 887,000 jobs per year. Worse according to the report, peak years could see job losses anywhere between 700,000 and a staggering 2.2 million.

That’s what Obama promised.  He promised to bankrupt coal, and the new regulations, that won’t be released unless/until Obama wins will do exactly that.  But, how many people working in the emergy/coal sector will go out and vote for the man who will put them out of work?

Does the US Hold the Largest Oil Reserves on the Planet?

Quite possibly, if we listen to the following official from the GAO…

So then, if we are floating on oil, and the only barrier to this windfall is government, who is the problem? I think we all know the answer to that.

John Hinderaker, from Powerline, adds some more…

…Green River Formation alone–it is located at the intersection of the states of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, and mostly underlies federal lands–contains as much oil as the entire proven reserves of the rest of the world combined. America is uniquely blessed in its energy resources. Two questions remain: 1) will Obama finally abandon his moronic two percent claim, and 2) will Obama, in a possible second term, block the development of the resources that can assure America’s economic supremacy for generations?

Once again, I think we know the answer to those questions as well.

For those that might be new to this, it has long been our contention that the political left thinks that it is unfair the the US has such a powerful economy.  They also see this as a “zero sum game,” meaning that there is a finite amount of wealth out there, and we have so much because we have somehow stolen it from others.   There is new wealth created every time a product or service of value is invented and offered for sale, but they deny that fact.   They fail to recognize that wealth is expanded, created, and distributed by the market far more efficiently in a capitalist system.  So, in a misguided sense of “fairness,” our leftist friends try to “cut us down to size,” by limiting our ability to develop new energy, create new factories, and the new technology that goes in them.  By limiting the amount of energy sources available to us, they put the brakes on growth, and the creation of wealth.  By doing this, they stifle job creation, as well as revenue to local, state, and federal coffers.    But, in their minds, this is the right thing to do.  Not only is it the wrong thing to do, it is done for all the wrong reasons as well.

Some will discuss the environment, but then again, the environment is the cover that is used to justify the attempt to wreck the engine of the economy.  I would bet a year’s income that if an unlimited and completely clean source of power were created tomorrow, the environmentalists will be rending their garments in grief, as their best chance to kill capitalism just went down the tubes.

Batboy Named Algae Czar

DISTRICT OF CRIMINALS — Fresh off blowing hot air at the press about the dire need to move U.S. energy dependence from oil to algae, President Barack Downgrade Obama today took daring steps, naming Batboy as the nation’s first Algae Czar.In his first official decree, Batboy, who has lived openly in public for 27 years as Congresscriminal Henry Waxman from California, announced the president will issue an executive order later today to create the Dental Algae Reclamation Project, to be funded by confiscated tax returns of the 1%.

“Never before in our history has it been more important to explore alternative energy, what with vast deposits of natural gas that must remain in the earth in order to hasten the prophecy of Atlas Shrugged and the successful blocking of the Keystone XL pipeline to appease environmentalist voters in time for the 2012 election,” said WaxmanBatboy, who will continue to serve in Congress, since he doesn’t do anything there in the first place except try to take over the Internet so he can increase his bandwidth for viewing YouPorn videos of himself with The Wicked Witch of Congress.

The Dental Algae Reclamation Project will mandate that a lottery choose annual dental visits for all Americans, for the scraping of algae from their teeth. WaxmanBatboy said he and the 99% of Occupy Wall Street will be the first in line because they’ve “been storing enough algae in our mouths to fuel the nation for centuries.”

In other news, the Downgrade administration will also empanel a commission to study the efficacy of renewing the horse and buggy as the dominant mode of American transportation, how well fat liposuctioned from Michael Moore could provide fuel for gas lamps in 100 million American homes, and whether Obama darling and failed solar energy company Solyndra can use a new $535 million loan guarantee to convert the dead into food to offset the rising cost of grocery bills.

Solyndra Green is people!

Obama Kills Keystone XL Pipeline, Tens of Thousands of Jobs, and Throws Unions Under the Bus

Talk about a trifecta!  The President, once again, has taken the opportunity to deny the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline.  For those of you that are unaware, the pipeline would go from Canada, to US refineries, giving us an influx of affordable source of energy.  That, and we’d be buying it from an good, decent people that make pretty decent beer, and, as a plus, have no desire to kill us.  Estimates vary, but the uppermost guesses indicate that hundreds of thousands of jobs could be eventually be created.  These would be private sector jobs, that would impact many communities.  However, Obama is denying permission for it to happen.  For more, here is some excerpts from Redstate…

According to a State Department release [emphasis added]:

Today, the Department of State recommended to President Obama that the presidential permit for the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline be denied and, that at this time, the TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline be determined not to serve the national interest. The President concurred with the Department’s recommendation, which was predicated on the fact that the Department does not have sufficient time to obtain the information necessary to assess whether the project, in its current state, is in the national interest.

Since 2008, the Department has been conducting a transparent, thorough, and rigorous review of TransCanada’s permit application for the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline project…

For more than three years, the State Department has conducted its “transparent, thorough, and rigorous review.” However, apparently, the Obama Administration believes that three years wasn’t enough to be transparent, thorough, or rigorous enough.

As Forbes’ Christopher Helman noted in November:

In the process of selecting the proposed route, TransCanada plotted and studied 14 different pipeline paths and submitted 10,000 pages of environmental studies. They’ve already studied this thing to death.

In other words, feet have been drug for so long now, that the feet are gone, and the contact point is just below the kneecaps!

This should be a shining accomplishment for Obama.  It has the potential to bring down energy prices, create a ton of jobs, and make his union friends happy.  Considering his record, and that this is an election year, he should be rushing to sign his approval, right?  Wrong!  It would appear that Obama is continuing on his path to make our nation weaker, keep more people out of work, and therefore, dependent on government assistance-even if it jeopardizes his re-election.

In fact, he has gone as far as to earn the scorn of some union bosses.

From the same RedState article…

As a result of the Obama’s job-destroying decision, Laborers’ union president, Terry O’Sullivan issued a blistering statement:

The score is Job-Killers, two; American workers, zero. We are completely and totally disappointed. This is politics at its worst,” LIUNA General President Terry O’Sullivan said. “Once again the President has sided with environmentalists instead of blue collar construction workers – even though environmental concerns were more than adequately addressed.Blue collar construction workers across the U.S. will not forget this.”

The project would create thousands of good jobs at a time when unemployment in the construction industry is 16 percent with 1.3 million men and women jobless.

Environmental groups have used the Keystone XL as a disingenuous proxy for arguments about global warming. The pipeline would carry up to 900,000 barrels of oil a day from Canada’s Tar Sands to the U.S., reducing reliance on oil from hostile nations. While environmental groups decry Tar Sands development, the Canadian government and Trans-Canada, the company developing the Tar Sands, have made clear the oil will be developed – and possibly sold to China – regardless of whether Keystone XL is built.

So, will this be a wakeup call to union bosses?  Will they realize that they are being used as useful idiots?  Probably not, but their lack of realization doesn’t make it any less true.  The average worker, union of not, should realize from this that they are disposable, not only to their bosses, but to Obama as well.

Also, that the ChiComs are the potential benefactor from Obama’s decision should raise some eyebrows, but the MSM won’t be investigating that any time soon.

Latest Twist to Leftist Narrative: Republicans Sabotaging the Economy

We talk about the left’s tendency to project a great deal here at the CH 2.0.  And now, we see more proof that the left always accuses the Conservatives of they are doing themselves.

During the course of this past week, the accusation has been raise that the GOP is somehow sabotaging the economy to improve their hopes for 2012.  This started with some Dem congressmen, and was quickly picked up by the MSM, and other lefty outlets.

I have to admit it, as a Conservative, we’re interested in causing misery so we can win in 2012.  And, in the interest in honesty, I’ll tell everyone how we’re doing it.

1.  We passed a health care law, so we could see what was in it.  Then, we found out that there was billions of dollars in expenses for businesses.  That way, they’ll hire less people. Unemployed people are very unhappy.

2.  We passed new regulations-LOTS of them.  They don’t make sense, and make doing business more expensive.  Again, that will lead to less hiring.

3.  We engage in anti-business rhetoric, so businesses will fear us and what we will do to them next.  That’s a great climate to stop growth.

4.  We keep empowering the unions, and float the idea of card check.  That way, a business will not know how much  employees will cost.

5.  We buy up own own debt, causing inflation.  That will cause a great deal of misery on which to capitlaize in 2012.

6.  We have a highly restrictive energy policy.  We crippled oil production in the gulf.  We’re shuttering some power plants, so we can make electricity bills “skyrocket.”  Combine that with the high price of gas, and that will cause a ton of sabotage for 2012.

You see, my Conservative friends, I simply couldn’t keep the secret anymore.  The economy is being sabotaged, and the story must be told.  We did it, and we will continue to do so until we win in 2012.

All right, sarcasm aside.  The lies from the lefties continue to escalate, and they will until election day.  The GOP has had no power at all  until this January, and if anything, they have only been able to slow down team Obama.  If anything, what they have proposed so far would slow down the damage caused by the current administration.

However, the Democrats know that they are in for it in 2012.  So, they have to preemptively attack the Republicans, and accuse the GOP of what the Democrats have done.  As it unfolds, it will only prove that there are no depths deep enough for the Democrats.  To achieve and maintain power, no lie is too big.

Modern Democratic Party Betrays Progress By Promoting Policies of the Past

Modern day Democrats talk often about ‘progress’. If you listen to your Democratic Congressman or Senator or President talk, they’ll mention how they want to move society forward, advance the ball, create or grow jobs through government spending, or in some way improve humanity by using the power of the state to hammer the backward among us into the future. Liberal blogs support Democrats by arguing and mocking conservatives and Republicans as ‘backwards’ and falling behind an advancing liberal society.

But the truth of the matter is that the modern day Democratic Party has betrayed the ideal of ‘progress’ by promoting policies of the past, policies that lock in jobs and classes and innovations and ideas of the past and act as a barrier to human progress.

President Obama demonstrated this lately when he lamented that the worsening economy isn’t his fault because of things like ATM machines and airport kiosks. He said:

There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate.

The modern day Democratic Party does not support or favor any sort of structural changes in America- they don’t want America to progress in any sort of way, and this statement says just that- Obama is upset that the vision that he has of the past when he was growing up, a vision of no ATM’s and bank tellers patiently waiting in the bank and long lines at the airport waiting for agents to help customers, is no longer the reality of the present and will not be the reality of the future.

Rather than embracing this change, Obama and the modern day Democrats fight against it. They think that they see these changes leading to lost jobs (even though the evidence is that there are more bank tellers than there were in the past), but what they fail to see how this progress has made the People better. By by replacing expensive bank tellers and customer service agents with cheaper automated efficient ATMS and kiosks, banks can now charge lower fees and even have free checking, and airports can lower prices for airline tickets and continue to provide quality service. The People benefit, notably the poor, by these advances in technology and innovation. It is real change, the kind that we all hoped for when Obama was elected, the kind of change and progress that defined a nation that grew from rural settlements clinging to the east coast to a superpower.

But the modern day Democratic Party doesn’t like this change- they want to lock in the classes, structures, jobs, technology, and modes of travel that they know and understand and think that they can control.

In my post Nuclear Power and Manned Space Flight: Victims of Democrat’s Progress Backwards?I started to advance this meme when I wrote:

America instead is collapsing on the weight of promises made to generations past, ruled over by elitist politicians who seek only to control us, and everyday our nation moves farther away from living a prosperous life in the stars in freedom and liberty, however preposterous or unlikely that future may have been.

The current leadership of our nation speaks of ‘progress,’ but they are abandoning nuclear power and manned spaceflight in favor of providing healthcare insurance to people who are encouraged not to purchase it and spending money they don’t have to support railroads and electric motor carriages and windmills. The future that Obama, Democrats, liberals, and Republicans that go along with them is not a future full of cheap safe energy and man roaming freely in the stars- it is a future with man going backward, remembering that once, long ago, before I was born and before my students were born, man built generators that were powered by the atom splitting and man walked on the moon.

Man once walked on the moon! Nuclear power plants were once built! Say it- and then realize that these are events of the past- that the new normal and likely new future of America and the world is a long, slow slide backwards into tyranny, injustice, and confiscation of property by elites.

The modern day Democratic Party, including my Congressman Gary Peters and my Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin and my President Barack Obama, push through legislation, appointments, and executive orders energy policies that attempt to lock in the 1970’s. Excessive regulations and cancelling of the Yucca Mountain project ensure that our nation will have the same number of nuclear power plants as the 1970’s. Through regulations and taxes and fees they have prevented or delayed or made more expensive the building new refineries, drilling for oil, or developing new natural resources.

Modern day Democrats talk about putting in place policies that push us to walk or travel by bus or train- methods of transportation that have long since been surpassed by automobiles and airplanes, although because automobiles travel on government-built roads and because air travel is increasingly regulated by the government, both of these modes of transportation are less dynamic and innovative and efficient than they could be if Americans were as free as they could be.

None of this should be a surprise to voters, and yet it seems to be. When Obama gave a major speech on energy when he was running for President in 2008, I wrote:

As I listened to Obama talk about his energy visions for the future, I imagined what it would be like to live in a world that is cured of it’s oil addiction- a world where there is no power generated by fossil fuels, and instead water and wind power the world. Ahh, indeed- the change we need… windmill from ancient Rhodes, waterwheel from Roman Spain…

Democrats are about locking in the class system that we currently had and are all about fighting any change to it. That’s why they bail out banks and automotive companies- it has little to do with saving jobs and everything to do with saving jobs from people who they are friends with and who donate money to them. Democrats are all about taxing the rich, because they know that the super rich will be able to hide their money in offshore accounts or deduct it through hidden tax code provisions, but yet the upper middle class won’t be able to dodge these taxes and will be forced to pay them and will sink into the lower classes which are so dependent on government help. Democrats are all about regulations and licensing and provisions and rules, all of which by their costs and difficulty in implementing help existing firms and companies, especially those large ones that are able to lobby government for waivers, but yet hurt new firms and businesses, especially small ones, who are not able to get past the barriers that the government erects to challenge the existing businesses and by so doing change our nation for the better.

While Obama might talk about how ATMs and kiosks are costing jobs, what he really is lamenting is that his vision of the past is being destroyed by advances that he didn’t see coming and doesn’t fully understand how to control- he is upset that his vision of the past is no longer the present now that we have had real progress in spite of Democrats efforts.

Humanity is amazing, and can remake the world in amazing ways when unleashed and freed from the bonds of government and the state through limited government, rule of law, protection of property, low taxes, low regulation, and conservative principles.

But modern day Democrats have betrayed the ideas of ‘progress’ and instead are now only interested in putting place policies that lock in the past.

When It Comes To Energy Policy, The Lunatics Are Running The Asylum

There is no end to the number of hot topics buzzing around the blogosphere lately, Included among those hot topics is the issue of our “Energy Policy” or lack there of. I too have written on this subject numerous times. And, I feel compelled to do so again. First, with your indulgence, allow me to do a little ranting and raving and then I’ll get to the point of today’s second post.

Ever since the oil embargo of the 70?s, it seems to have been impossible for the United States to come-up with a coherent energy policy. Some say that Big Oil didn’t want an energy policy and they used their influence to make sure it didn’t happen. I don’t know if that is true or not. All I know is that we have never had an energy policy worth speaking of and the current administration is possibly the worst of all.

Since the day Obama took office, he has made it clear that the big oil companies were his enemy of choice. His support for and subsidies to inefficient high cost renewable energy projects that benefit only his friends at taxpayer expense is well-known. He has put moratorium on oil drilling in the most favorable target areas as well as road blocks to the development of gas shale and oil shale.and, he has withdrawn millions of acres of land from public access And then, this Nimrod we call president had the brass to stand-up at a news conference the other day and announce that he has ordered his agencies to investigate oil companies for not drilling on lease that they have. Hey! Mr. President! I have a tip for you. Pick-up your phone and call the heads of these companies that are not drilling ans ask the what the problem is. You might just learn something. You might find that you could use your good offices to help get the drills working. But you don’t want to do that, do you Mr. President. No. You have a different agenda. You know that high gasoline prices are going to hurt your chances for reelection. So you have to find a way to deflect the blame, don’t you? You,sir, make me sick!

Okay. I done ranting and raving and I feel better. I know that nothing I said was news to you so thank , dear reader, for your indulgence. I’ll now get to the subject of today’s post.

With all that is going on in the world, you may have missed this bit of news related to the issue of energy. Penny Starr writing for CNSnews has the story.  It seems there has been a major project, the Keystone XL Project, in the making for a few years to construct a very large oil pipeline from Alberta, Canada to US refineries on the Gulf of Mexico. This multi-billion dollar project and the thousands of jobs it would create just can’t seem to get all the permits it requires to get started. Penny tell us, as expected, the oil and gas industry is very much in favor of this project. Here are a couple of interesting snips:

”Keystone XL is a shovel-ready project that is funded completely by private sector investment at no cost to American taxpayers,” Girling said. “It will be a safe, modern and leading-edge pipeline and we have provided the Department of State and other agencies with the facts regarding Keystone XL’s design, safety, operating procedures and limited environmental impact.”

TransCanada said the new pipeline would bring more than $585 million in new taxes to states and cities located on its path through the American heartland. An additional $5.2 billion in property taxes would be paid over the proposed 50-year lifespan of the project and create jobs that would provide $6.5 billion in personal income to American workers.

She also tells us that Jim Hoffa, President of the Teamster Union,  supports the project, as well. He estimates the project will create 20,000 good jobs. However, the Canadian Energy Research Institute estimates that the project could create as much as 340,000 US  jobs.

However, the EPA and the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) have concerns, as penny points out:

In July 2010, the EPA sent a letter to the State Department criticizing its original EIS as “inadequate.” The 18-page letter detailed a long list of concerns, including pollution from the refineries, problems with spillage containment in case of an accident, and environmental justice — in particular “the potential for disproportionately high and adverse human health and environmental effects on minority, low-income and Tribal populations.”

The National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a liberal group, also reacted to the State Department’s decision on Mar. 15, echoing the EPA’s concerns and adding how the pipeline might adversely have an effect on migratory birds and the American Burying Beetle.

The potential for disproportionately high and adverse human health and environmental effects on minority, low-income and Tribal populations? What about the potential for disproportionately high adverse affects of unduly high energy costs on minorities, low-income and Tribal populations? Envirnmental justice? PLEASE!!!

The pipeline might adversely have an effect on migratory birds and the American Burying Beetle? What? Migratory birds are going to have problems flying over the pipeline?American Burying Bettle? WHAT THE HELL IS THIS???

Folks, the environmental wingnuts are but a small part of our population but they control the energy agenda in America. They have infiltrated our government and its agencies and they are IN CHARGE. The lunatics are running the asylum.

What do you think?

End All Energy Production?

On Wednesday, August 6, 2008 I wrote:

As I listened to Obama talk about his energy visions for the future, I imagined what it would be like to live in a world that is cured of it’s oil addiction- a world where there is no power generated by fossil fuels, and instead water and wind power the world. Ahh, indeed- the change we need… windmill from ancient Rhodes, waterwheel from Roman Spain…

After two years of an Obama Presidency and Democrats in Congress, it appears that the world’s chief sources of large-scale energy production — coal, oil and nuclear power — all are becoming increasingly unsafe and unproductive, possibly moving us back to the future of windmills and waterwheels. Liberals and Democrats have seized on the Upper Big Branch coal mine explosion in West Virginia, the Deepwater Horizon blowout and oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and the unfolding nuclear crisis in Japan, to dramatize the dangers of conventional power generation and push for more regulation, taxes, and government control over these industries while simultaneously diverting large amounts of taxpayer money to politically-connected companies who dutifully pray at the alter of the Green God.

The winners of this war on coal, oil, and nuclear are the Al Gore’s of the world, who make big money selling government false promises and inefficient power generation, and every set-back or disaster in the coal, oil, and nuclear world are met with happy glee from the government agents transferring wealth from productive, job creating energy businesses to unproductive, job killing green energy politically-connected firms.

The continued support for Democrats marks the beginning of the end of energy production and the voluntarily suicide of a nation’s ability to power itself, on a level not seen since the Xhosa Prophetess Nongqawuse convinced her tribe that it must destroy all their crops and kill their cattle so that they might progress as a society and be more powerful and happy. Sadly, much like Al Gore, following the advice of Nongqawuse only resulted in a calamity of staggering proportions for the Xhosa people, as it will be in our nation if we don’t continue to drill for oil, mine for coal, and build nuclear reactors.

The ‘woes of Japan’ are a wake-up call for our nation- a nuclear reactor that was built 40 years ago can withstand a 8.9 earthquake, tsunami, and electrical problems and still keep generating power- surely we can build better, more efficient, more safe nuclear power plants here in America to power our nation and improve our national security. The biggest barrier is liberals, Democrats, and their uneducated unwashed mass of interest groups who in their ignorance and foolishness would drag us back to less prosperous times, if we let them.
