Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Texas) introduced the Wasteful EPA Programs Elimination Act, which he said is a money-saving measure, citing a Heritage Foundation forecast that it would save $7.5 billion over 10 years

Hat/Tip to Doug Ross @ Journal and Timothy Cama at The Hill.

It may pass, but it’ll never get signed by Obama.

A House Republican wants to cut 13 programs at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including all of its grants and its ability to regulate ground-level ozone and carbon dioxide.

Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Texas) introduced a bill, the Wasteful EPA Programs Elimination Act, which he said is a money-saving measure, citing a Heritage Foundation forecast that it would save $7.5 billion over 10 years.

“As a fiscal conservative, I believe Washington should be respectful of taxpayers’ dollars and live within its means,” Johnson said in a Thursday statement.

“American taxpayers certainly don’t need to be paying for the EPA’s empty and unused buildings and its wasteful programs,” he said. “This bill does right by the hardworking folks in my district and across the country and is part of my ongoing effort to get our fiscal house in order.”

The measure would force the EPA to close all of its field offices, sell or lease certain properties, cut various climate change programs and stop its environmental justice activities.

It would also stop the EPA from regulating ground-level ozone and from limiting the greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles and power plants, the subject of the most controversial EPA programs recently.

First they “suggested” that we go vegan to Save The Planet.

Now Obama’s storm troopers are going to regulate our backyard barbecues using the Clean Air Act.

The Environmental Protection Agency has its eyes on pollution from backyard barbecues.

The agency announced that it is funding a University of California project to limit emissions resulting in grease drippings with a special tray to catch them and a “catalytic” filtration system.

The $15,000 project has the “potential for global application,” said the school.

The school said that the technology they will study with the EPA grant is intended to reduce air pollution and cut the health hazards to BBQ “pit masters” from propane-fueled cookers.

Charged with keeping America’s air, water and soil clean, the EPA has been increasingly looking at homeowners, especially their use of pollution emitting tools like lawn mowers.

Get ready for the denials.

If you like your barbecue, you can keep your barbecue.. Like we’re gonna fall for that one again, right?

02-grill-girlThe EPA has already effectively outlawed wood burning stoves.

And we all know what they’ve done to destroy the coal industry in this country.

So using the same rules to regulate barbecues like mine is the logical next step.

Here’s their first proposal:

The school is proposing two fixes to reduce emissions from barbecues. First, they want to cut back on grease flare-ups. The idea: “A slotted and corrugated tray is inserted immediately prior to meat flipping, and removed immediately after. This short contact time prevents the tray from over-heating and volatilizing the collected grease. This collected grease will then drip off into a collection tray and can be used at the pit master’s discretion.”

But it’s the second phase that really shows how nuts these EPA clowns are:

But, total capture isn’t “practical,” so a filter and fan are proposed for installation. “The secondary air filtration system is composed of a single pipe duct system which contains a specialized metal filter, a metal fan blade, a drive shaft, and an accompanying power system with either a motorized or manual method. This system can be powered by either an exterior electric motor with a chain-driven drive shaft, directly spinning the fan blade, or a hand-powered crank,” said the project write-up.

Good freaking grief!

Can you imagine anything so ridiculous? A smokestack and soot scrubbers encasing your backyard grill?

Yeah, that won’t be expensive! Or cumbersome. Not to mention, batshit insane.

smokestack-diagram_0
Typical EPA-approved smokestack scrubber setup. Substitute “your grill” for “wet scrubber” and you’ll get an idea of where they’re going with this.

Can you imagine cooking ribs inside that contraption?

The Obamunists have got to be stopped. Now. Before they mess with our grilled meat.

Merry Christmas And Happy New Year From The EPA

Share

EPA-logo

The Grinches in the Obama administration’s Economy Pulverizing Agency (EPA) are spreading their own diabolical idea of Christmas cheer on our fragile economy by dumping 1200 new regulations on it with an estimated economic cost of $20 billion, which brings the EPA’s added regulatory burden for the year to over $200 billion.

For the new year, they are already hard at work to drive up the cost of energy produced by fracking on federal lands.

You can read the details here.

With two more long years left, you can bet that President Obama, with the help of his pen and his phone, will have his Grinches busy helping him complete his promise to make electricity costs in America skyrocket.

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

What Is The EPA’s Real Agenda?

Share

EPA-logo

Most Americans probably believe that the EPA has the thankless job of trying to protect the environment and the good people of these United States from those that would pollute the air and the waters of our nation; so vital to our health and well being, whether knowingly or unknowingly. That, of course, was their original mandate and, in the early years of the EPA’s existence, that’s pretty much what it did. Then things began to change. Slowly at first and then anything but slowly. Arguably, no other agency of our government has overreached its mandate than the EPA. The hidden costs of this overreach has needlessly driven up your cost of living and has had a negative impact on jobs growth and on the economy in general by making US companies less competitive in this global economy.

The EPA is able to get away with this overreach because Congress has almost no control over regulatory bodies like the EPA. To understand how the EPA became the regulatory predator that it is, you need to understand the concept of “regulatory capture” and once the EPA was captured by environment zealots, connived the diabolical means of bypassing Congressional oversight and public hearings with something called “sue and settle“.

Our friend, AZ leader at Inform The Pundits has recently post an essay that demonstrates a clear example of the EPA promulgating a costly regulation that is not necessary. Do read the entire article. It is very informative. For now, let me offer some observations and then I’ll share some excerpts from AZ’s post.

The UN’s global warming/climate change hoax will likely turn out to be the most costly and harmful scam ever perpetrated on mankind. One need only look at the terrible being paid by our cousins in Europe are paying for falling prey to this hoax. Although the US Congress has never agreed to any treaty in implement the UN”s demands for reducing carbon out put, the plans were put into effect anyway by then President, Bill Clinton. Of course, the captured EPA wasted no time in dreaming up ways to force you, at what ever cost, to comply with these unnecessary regulations. Ironically, the United State has done better at achieving the UN’s goal for carbon reduction than any other country and it wasn’t because of a mountain of new government regulations on power plants and the type of light bulbs you use. The reductions were achieved through the innovation of the private sector in producing ever more cheap natural gas, which is in turn replacing high carbon producing coal use in our nations power  plants. But, the EPA, apparently, is not interested in the facts. they passed their Clean Power Plan anyway.

From the Inform The Pundits article we learn:

The annual “U.S. Energy-Related Carbon Dioxide EmissionsREPORT for 2013 was released today by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The United States has reduced CO2emissions by 10 percent since 2005. At the current pace the U.S. will reduce CO2 emissions 30 percent by 2029, one year ahead of the EPA’s proposed plan.

There is no need for a government mandated plan that will drive up electric rates for the average family when the proposed goal is already being met by the private sector.

Further more, Inform the Pundits points out that the US private sector has a long history of reducing the intensity of carbon out put:

A commonly held misconception is “decarbonization” is a brand new concept and it’s something that countries need to pursue, but are not doing so now. Decarbonization simply means to remove carbon. Decarbonization, contrary to popular belief, has already been happening in a big way for over 100 years.

The most important form of decarbonization is reducing the amount of CO2-generating energy needed to power an economy. In other words, produce the same amount of goods and services with fewer carbon emissions.

According to today’s EIA report, in the last 65 years the United States has reduced the amount of CO2 emissions needed to produce $1 million worth of GDP, adjusted for inflation, from 1,099 metric tons to just 343 metric tons. That’s a whopping 69 percent drop since 1949!

In the $16 trillion dollar U.S. economy it amounts to 21 billion metric tons of decarbonization savings in 2013 alone. That’s about 22 times more than the 954 million metric tons promised in the Clean Power Plan by the year 2030.

So, why is the EPA pushing a costly plan that clearly is not needed? We can only surmise that the EPA bureaucrats have some other agenda that is driving them. As a proud member of the tin-foil-hat brigade, your humble observer of the asylum we all have to live in has a theory on the real agenda of the EPA and other government agencies. Their hidden agenda is a long-term plan to implement the UN’s Agenda 21 and to bring about a new world order (NWO). For those not familiar with Agenda 21, reading these three sources will are a good place to start your learning process: here, here, and here.

A very important part of the strategy of Agenda 21 is to encourage (read force) to leave rural areas and suburbs and to go to high density population centers. One of the ways the EPA can achieve this goal is to drive (candidate Obama said skyrocket) of electricity by any means necessary. Once the electricity price has the public screaming for relief, there will begin a propaganda campaign to convince the public that the high cost is due to the enormous line loses that occur because electricity is pushed through thousands of miles of power lines to serve the rural communities and the suburbs. They will promote moving the now clean gas burning power plants into the major cities and people will flock to the cities to avoid the onerous electricity cost associated with living outside of the cities. Once that is achieved, then come the access and use restrictions on rural lands. The minions will be stacked and packed in the high density population centers and only the oligarchs and the political elites will be able to enjoy now pristine countryside.

No, this will not happen in the next year or two. The socialist/Marxists are very patient and are accustomed to playing the long-game. Your grandchildren or for sure your great-grandchildren will live to see the fruits of Agenda 21 unless it can be stopped. Who is going to stop it? Will the GOP, if they gain control of Capitol Hill, roll back decades of bad regulations and laws? Don’t count on it. The real power in America belongs to the unelected bureaucrats. In my opinion, today’s federal bureaucracy is the closest thing I know of to a perpetual motion machine.

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

Top Democratic & Alison Grimes Donor, Niko Elmaleh

Hat/Tip to Project Veritas.

Democrat Alison Grimes is in a race to wrest Republican Mitch McConnell’s Senate seat from him in the upcoming November elections.

When you hear Grimes campaigning, you’d almost think she had an “R” after her name. I mean, according to her, she’s anti-Obama, anti-EPA Coal Regulations and pro-gun. However, James O’Keefe thought he’d do a bit of investigating and find out what the people in her organization really think about her position on coal.

So he did a two part investigation.

Here’s the first video in which he catches quite a number of people supporting her saying that she is lying about her support for coal.

.

.

Wow.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, get ready for part two.

O’Keefe sent some of his staff to talk to some of the top-dollar Democratic Party donors about Grimes’ stance on coal.

The result was jaw-dropping in its brutal honesty.

.

.

Here’s a partial transcript:

PV: And you think Alison will help us get rid of coal?

Niko Elmaleh: Absolutely.

PV: Yes? But she doesn’t say it.

Niko Elmaleh: It’s not about talking.

PV: She’s got to get elected.

Niko Elmaleh: It’s about doing it.

PV: It’s not about talking about it. It’s about doing it.

Niko Elmaleh: Hey, you want to talk about it or you want to do it?

PV: Do it.

VO: This Grimes campaign insider has no doubts about who the real Allison Grimes is and what she believes.

PV: So you know that Alison will help us stop coal?

Niko Elmaleh: Come on Dude. What do you think?

PV: I think yes, but I haven’t heard it straight up.

Niko Elmaleh: She can’t say it straight up.

PV: She supports big coal.

Niko Elmaleh: No. She’s going to fuck ‘em as soon as she gets elected.

PV: Really?

Niko Elmaleh: Yeah. Take my word for it. Here. Take my word for it.

Niko Elmaleh: She’s going to have to do what she has to do to get elected and then she’s going to fuck them.

Niko Elmaleh: Okay trust me. She’s a killer.

VO: This is just one of our investigations looking at the upcoming election. Project Veritas will leave no stone unturned…no matter how nasty a creature we uncover by doing so.

PV: She supports big coal.

Niko Elmaleh: No. She’s going to fuck ‘em as soon as she gets elected.

Americans Should Prepare for Winter Blackouts

Share

Stop.the_.EPA_-300x192Americans generally take our power grid for granted.  For most areas of the country, it has been pretty reliable over the past few decades, despite growing demands placed upon it.  However, our power grid faces many threats which could cause wide-scale blackouts…. such as EMP attack, solar storms, and aging infrastructure.  The biggest threat to our power grid, is less known to most Americans, and that threat is our very own Environmental Protection Agency.

In January 2014, Americans suffered some of the coldest temperatures ever recorded in the heartland of the United States and throughout the northeast as well, due to the supposed “Polar Vortex”.  It was during this time, that our power grid very nearly failed.  On January 7, 2014, PJM Interconnections, the Regional Transmission Organization serving areas from New Jersey to Illinois, measured a power load of almost 142,000 MegaWatts.  Eight of the top ten PJMs all-time winter power load peaks occurred in January of 2014.  It was only the heroic efforts by grid operators, which saved large parts of the nation from long-term, potentially catastrophic blackouts.  Had any one of our power plants suffered a failure during this time, the entire grid would have failed as a result.

The mainstream media only mentioned this event in passing, probably in an effort not to alarm the public, to just how close we came to real disaster.  A major and long-term blackout during winter temperatures that cold, could lead to massive casualties all across the central and eastern US, as so many families are dependent on electricity to heat their homes.

Fast forward to present-day, and the greatest current threat to our power grid, has become the EPA.  Through the MATS (Mercury and Air Toxics Standard) and CSAPR (Cross State Air Pollution Rule), the EPA’s new regulations, touted by the Obama Administration as a major step toward combating Global Warming, has forced the closure of dozens of coal-fired power plants across 37 states, resulting in a loss of power generation capacity of 72 GigaWatts, to say nothing of the $51 Billion in lost revenue per the US Chamber of Commerce as a direct result of these regulations.

Winter-Outlook-HD
USA Weather Inc. Winter Outlook thru Jan 20 (click to enlarge)

As you can see from the above outlook, the coming winter could be at least as bad as last winter, in terms of temperatures.  This outlook is from USA Weather Incorporated, and  I collaborated heavily into its production.  Our outlook received an A- grade from an independent media source for last winter, and we have an extensive track record of accuracy.  Further information about our outlook can be found here.  Other entities such as the Old Farmer’s Almanac have published very similar forecasts.    Given the current trends, in addition to a reduced sunspot count, and increasing volcanic activity around the globe, these forecasts of colder than January 2014 temperatures this winter are likely to pan out.  Considering how close we came to disaster last winter, but having a reduced power generation capacity this winter…. our power grid is not likely to sustain the demands placed upon it.

I believe wide-scale blackouts are going to be likely, particularly from mid-December 2014 through mid February 2015.  I strongly urge all Americans in areas likely to be affected by the extreme cold this winter, to prepare for this strong possibility.  You must have alternative heat sources, food storage of at least several days, and enough clean water for that length of time, as well.  Preparation is the best chance of surviving this kind of disaster.  Then, if it doesn’t happen, at least you are prepared for any other potential disaster that may come along, such as ice storms or blizzards, which can cause significant power outages as well.

These regulations from the EPA are supposedly designed to reduce our output of Carbon Dioxide…. which is a naturally occurring trace gas in our atmosphere.  They say they believe it is a leading contributor to human-caused climate change.  In the unlikely event that they are correct about Carbon Dioxide, what they are doing amounts to potentially causing a major catastrophe in the near term, to avert a smaller potential catastrophe in the long term.  If they are wrong about Carbon Dioxide, then they’re causing a major catastrophe for no reason at all.  Either way, its utter madness!

I welcome your comments on this post….

Coal Miner Gives Heartfelt Testimony Regarding Obama’s EPA Policies

Share

Obama promised that he would put coal fired power plants out of business.  Obama promised that his policies would make make electric bills “skyrocket.”  As we face potential energy shortages and even possible brownouts/blackouts due to Obama’s policies, coal miners are looking forward to a bleak future as well.  Here is video of a miner making a rather humble and heartfelt comment a a public hearing.

When Obama kills the industry that uses much of the coal mined, it puts the coal miners in a precarious position. But, of course, the Obama administration doesn’t care a bit about the miners, other than the fact that it drives more and more of them into dependency on the government.  I do have to ask some questions though…

Did the United Mine Workers Union endorse Obama?

Did the United Mine Workers give campaign dollars to the democrats that support Obama’s job killing policies?

And now, they’re going to take Obama to task for doing what he promised to do in the first place?

And, come to think of it, why does Obama only keep promises that wreck people’s lives?

I know, the typical leftist, having no facts in his or her arsenal, will resort to insults, but in the meantime, they’ll put this man out of work, impoverish his family, and blame it on someone else-probably Bush.

And the sheeple will bleat compliantly.

I can only hope that more and more people wake up to this, but previous experience tells me that it’s wishful thinking.

Obama Steps Up Deportations – of Land Rovers…

Share

 photo dhs-deports-land-rover_zps3fe1059d.jpg

Finally, an illegal alien Obama’s DHS will seize and deport – a Land Rover Defender

They can’t stop the flood of illegal aliens waltzing in from Mexico.

And they’ve never caught a terrorist in an airport.

But, fear not, because Obama’s crack DHS storm troopers are locked and loaded, mobilizing on a moment’s notice to pounce on a threat more sinister than you could ever imagine — Old Land Rovers.

When Jennifer Brinkley saw a line of law enforcement vehicles coming up her driveway last Tuesday she didn’t know what to think. “I haven’t done anything wrong.”

The Homeland Security agents were not there to take her away, they were looking for illegally imported Land Rover Defenders. Brinkley had bought one via the internet last year and had invested more than $60,000 into the rare vehicle.

She thought she had checked it all out and she legally owned it. “They popped up the hood and looked at the Vehicle Identification Number and compared it with a piece of paper and then took the car with them,” she said.

Due process? That’s only for the La Raza crowd. Regular Americans are at the mercy of Dear Leader’s bureaucracy, and his EPA takes no prisoners.

She told Fox News that she was told the agents seized the vehicle because they thought it violated the Clean Air Act — though at the time, they weren’t completely sure. She also said her vehicle was just one of 40 that feds seized in various locations that same day for the same reason.

Cars they’ll deport.

Criminal illegal aliens, not so much.

Oh, did I mention that Obama’s fascists have done this before? Ayup. They really hate Land Rovers. Curiously though, they don’t go around seizing old Chevys and Vettes, presumably because Government Motors and his UAW buddies wouldn’t approve.

Hey, I wonder if the military assault vehicles he just gave Bergen County meet the EPA’s emissions standards? I’m guessing no. But that’s OK, laws only apply to the common folk. The bureaucrats can do whatever they want. Just ask Lois Lerner.

Dear ________________: (A Letter From the EPA)

Share
EPA-logo
All Your Water Are Belong To Us

As is often the case here at the worldwide headquarters of Manhattan Infidel, disturbing stuff gets deposited on my desk (and not just last night’s 3 am taco.  With bacon.)  In this case it is a letter that the Environmental Protection Agency will be sending out to all Americans.

Dear _________:

It has come to the attention of the EPA that it occasionally rains on your property.  It has also come to our attention that when it does rain puddles are left on your lawn.

These puddles then disappear over time.  We have photographic evidence of this.

Why is this?

Why has this puddle of pure water been allowed to disappear from your property?

Do not use the phony excuse of so-called “evaporation.”  This is anti-science.  There can only be one reason you have shirked your respectability to protect the environment:  You are a racist who hates President Obama.

Now as an American citizen We at the Environmental Protection Agency are sure that you are aware of your responsibility to protect the environment.  The United States, thanks to the regulatory and police powers of the Environmental Protection Agency has an environmental record second to none.

We cannot allow anti-science, backward-thinking racists such as yourself to destroy our record.

Accordingly, we will be garnishing your wages and fining you $75,000 per day until this pristine puddle is restored to your yard.

As you are aware, we have the legal right to do this.  Before the July 4th holiday we placed in the Federal register a law authorizing us to do this. Under this new law we can collect delinquent non-tax debts owed to the United States without first obtaining a court order.

Before you complain to your congressman please be aware that this is America and We at the Environmental Protection Agency wish to protect your rights as well.

You have the right to review, contest or enter into a repayment agreement.  Please be advised however that we will decide when and where the hearing will be held and that you will be responsible for all travel expenses.

We do this not because we wish to fatigue you into compliance with our measures.

We do this because the budget of the EPA has been reduced by the anti-environmental extremists in the Republican Party.

In the future if you wish to avoid a fine from our organization we suggest you invest in a series of pipes and filters that will recirculate rainwater on your property, ensuring that it never evaporates.

You may call one of our sales reps at 1-800-rainwater for more information.

Please send us $75,000.

Thank you.

The Environmental Protection Agency

Giving the EPA the right to fine us and garnish our wages without a court order? What could possibly go wrong?  And to the residents of the apartment on the floor below me I once again apologize for leaning out my window at 4 am and vomiting on your laundry line.

Mark Levin’s Legal Foundation Takes on the EPA

Share
mark levin of landmark legal foundation
Mark Levin: Conservative Radio Icon, Best Selling Author and President of the Landmark Legal Foundation

Hat/Tip to Susan Jones of CNSNews.com.

Lawsuit Seeks Damages From EPA, ‘A Toxic Waste Dump of Lawlessness’

If I were the EPA, I’d be worried. Mark Levin is an amazing intellect and his knowledge of our Constitution is almost beyond compare.

A conservative legal group is asking a federal judge to punish the Environmental Protection Agency for destroying or failing to preserve emails and text messages requested in August 2012 under the Freedom of Information Act.

The Landmark Legal Foundation believes the requested — but never delivered — messages to outside groups would have revealed EPA attempts to influence the 2012 presidential election.

“The EPA is a toxic waste dump for lawlessness and disdain for the Constitution,” said Landmark Legal President Mark Levin.

His legal group wants the federal court to fine the EPA “in an amount sufficient to deter future wrongdoing.”

For Mark, it’s business as usual when it comes to trying to rein in the scope and power of the ‘alphabet agencies.’ He knows that the EPA will do whatever it can, legal and otherwise to get out of complying with the courts, so he’s prepared for that contingency.

Landmark Legal also is asking the judge to appoint an independent monitor to ensure that EPA is properly preserving and searching for all records that fall under Landmark’s original FOIA request.

“EPA cannot be trusted,” the lawsuit states. “The appointment of an independent monitor is essential to ensure that EPA complies fully with its obligation to preserve documents…”

He also wants to make sure that any other folks who’ve had dealings with the EPA can get their rights protected, as well.

And finally, the lawsuit asks the judge to direct the EPA to inform parties in other lawsuits that it may have destroyed or failed to preserve records they had a legal right to receive in their litigation.

“When any federal agency receives a FOIA request, the statute says it must preserve every significant repository of records, both paper and electronic, that may contain materials that could be responsive to that request,” Levin said. “When an agency gets sued it must also notify everyone who might be involved in the suit to preserve everything in their possession that could be discoverable in the litigation.

“But the people at the EPA, from the Administrator on down, think they’re above the law, that no one has the right to question what or how they do their jobs. Well, they’re wrong. The laws apply to everyone, even federal bureaucrats.”

The lawsuit says EPA should have searched the personal emails and text messages used by top EPA officials, including then-Administrator Lisa Jackson, to conduct official business, but it failed to do so.

Mark explains how the EPA thinks they are above the law.

“EPEPA-logoA didn’t and doesn’t care, an attitude that it has carried into every aspect of its dealings with Landmark,” the lawsuit says. “EPA has treated Landmark as an adversary from the receipt of its FOIA request, not as a rightful participant in a FOIA regime as enforcing principles of open government subject to oversight by its citizens.”

This isn’t the first time Mark and his legal group have battled with and defeated the EPA.

This is the second time Landmark Legal has sought sanctions against the EPA in FOIA litigation.

In 2003, the Agency was held in contempt by a federal judge for destroying email backup tapes in a similar suit over “midnight” regulations hurried into law in the final days of the Clinton Administration. In that case, the EPA was fined nearly $300,000.

“The EPA has to learn that you can’t save the planet by destroying the rule of law,” Levin said. “It also must understand that some of our most precious resources are the principles of limited government and official accountability enumerated in the Constitution. If we don’t protect those, saving the snail darter or the spotted owl won’t mean a thing.”

Veterans Affairs – Latest Example Of Government Gone Big And Bad

Share

big-government

If you have read many of my posts, you will know I am not a fan of big government. I have railed against it on more than a few occasions and I firmly believe the quote from Thomas Jefferson in the above picture is true. Most bad government comes from having too much government. For the most part, it does not work the way its champions claim it will. Time after time, we have seen the examples. Government agencies growing too big for the pants they are trying to wear. The EPA and the IRS both think they are God to the American people. The Department of Education thinks they are the fix for all that is wrong with the education system in America. And the Department of Veterans Affairs thinks it is the one-stop solution for all things concerning the men and women who have served our country, protecting our freedom.

What is the one thing these departments have in common? They are all part of a massive government bureaucracy that has grown far past its original mandate. And the more they grow, the more out of control they become. The EPA has claimed the right to garnish your wages, should they deem it necessary to fine you for some perceived wrong you are doing to the environment. The IRS has investigated tax exempt groups for their conservative leanings and claimed bonuses for “doing a good job”. Veterans Affairs has gone down that same road. They have caused thousands of veterans to have delayed healthcare. Some of them have died while on the waiting list to see their doctors. Said waiting lists have been manipulated and manufactured, hiding the truth about what is really going on at the VA. And all the while, bonuses are being paid for jobs well done.

Let’s take a look at some of the things that have gone on at the VA, courtesy of Human Events.

Huffington Post – The scandal-plagued Department of Veterans Affairs is systematically overpaying clerks, administrators and other support staff, according to internal audits, draining tens of millions of dollars that could be used instead to ease the VA’s acute shortage of doctors and nurses.

The jobs of some 13,000 VA support staff have been flagged by auditors as potentially misclassified, in many cases resulting in inflated salaries that have gone uncorrected for as long as 14 years.

Rather than moving quickly to correct these costly errors, VA officials two years ago halted a broad internal review mandated by federal law. As a result, the overpayments continue.

Moreover, in the two years since thousands of misclassified jobs were identified, hundreds of additional positions have been filled at improperly high salaries. Internal VA documents obtained by The Huffington Post show that between September 2013 and May 2014, for instance, overpayments in annual salaries for the latter jobs alone came to $24.4 million, not counting benefits.

In May alone, senior VA classification specialists identified 284 probably misclassified positions newly posted on the federal jobs site, USAJobs. Once filled, those jobs would result in estimated overpayments of $3.3 million per year.

For that amount of money, the VA could instead hire five neurosurgeons, 10 psychiatrists and five suicide prevention case managers at the average salaries currently offered on USAJobs.

The pattern continued in June, with more than a quarter million dollars of overpayments involving jobs at the Veterans Health Administration headquarters, according to an internal VA report.

Some of this is almost surreal. Imagine, an agency of the federal government so far removed from the needs of the people it is charged with serving that the most important thing on their minds isn’t to serve those people. Rather, the people in charge of the VA are more concerned with protecting their status and salaries. And people wonder how Senator Tom Coburn can find so many places where the federal government is wasting money? It’s not that hard to see. All you have to do is look.

It should be noted that this problem is not necessarily isolated to the Obama administration. I believe they have made things worse with their lackadaisical attitude towards the management of the federal bureaucracy, but this was going on well before they moved into the White House. One thing that exasperates the problems at the VA, or any other government agency, is the lack of review and positive action taken to correct the problems that are found. No one wants to be the man or woman who stands their ground and says enough big and wasteful government is enough. If reviews are started, they are halted and excuses are given as to why it is taking so long to correct the issue.

The widespread misclassification of jobs has created a deep and systemic problem at the VA that will require massive job and pay turbulence to resolve — and will surely set off angry protests within the ranks. The General Schedule, or GS, sets pay grades and rates for all federal employees. Even if they keep their higher pay, the loss of a GS grade can affect employees’ future promotions and retirement pay.

Evidently alarmed at that looming employee reaction, senior officials at VA headquarters in Washington ordered a halt two years ago to any review and correction of misclassified jobs that might lead to lowered pay grades and smaller salaries. Paula Molloy, the senior official at the VA’s Office of Human Resources Management handling the issue, told HuffPost that once the VA begins to examine the misclassified jobs, it will be at least 15 months before any corrective action could be taken.

“We are not going to be able to do these reviews overnight,” she said.

That means VA communications clerks, for instance, will keep receiving overpayments. These jobs were misclassified above the proper civil service grade in 2003. All such clerks across the VA have been overpaid since then, at a total cost of $33,715 for each clerk in the last decade. Checks will also continue to go out for air conditioning equipment operators who were improperly classified in 2000, resulting in overpayments for each of those jobs of $67,172 over the past 14 years.

As I have written this post, I have gone back and read some of the comments on the Huffington Post article. Yes, I know it is a liberal blog, but those comments are interesting, nonetheless. Many are complaints about how much it costs to build military equipment or how much Congress is making. While those may be valid arguments on another level, there is one thing that those commenters are missing, or are simply ignoring.

The scandals (yes, I used that word) at the VA are symptomatic of the overall problem of a large federal government and the bureaucracy that comes with it. It is so far out of control that the problems can not even be addressed. It’s like driving a boat with the steering wheel locked straight and the throttle full on. Sooner or later, we are going to run out of water to swim in and we will run aground. Much of this could have been avoided, and could at least be slowed down, if only we could see and admit the truth. Our federal government is growing bigger and badder every day.

Global Warming ‘Fabricated’ by NASA and NOAA

Share

NASA-Logo

Hat/Tip to Breitbart-London.

In recent articles here at CH2.0 we’ve covered the scam that is Global Climate Warming Change. We told you how one of NASA’s own calls it the “Biggest Fraud in the Field of Science,” and how, despite temperatures being cooler for the last decade plus, the Al Gore army are still saying that Global Warming CAUSES more ice…

Well, it would seem that NASA and NOAA have egg on their respective faces over their hysterical claims of climate doom.

Scientists at two of the world’s leading climate centres – NASA and NOAA – have been caught out manipulating temperature data to overstate the extent of the 20th century “global warming”.

The evidence of their tinkering can clearly be seen at Real Science, where blogger Steven Goddard has posted a series of graphs which show “climate change” before and after the adjustments.

When the raw data is used, there is little if any evidence of global warming and some evidence of global cooling. However, once the data has been adjusted – ie fabricated by computer models –  20th century ‘global warming’ suddenly looks much more dramatic.

This is especially noticeable on the US temperature records. Before 2000, it was generally accepted – even by climate activists like NASA’s James Hansen – that the hottest decade in the US was the 1930s.

Back in 1989, Hansen said this in a report:

In the U.S. there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country.

However, Hansen subsequently changed his tune when, sometime after 2000, the temperatures were adjusted to accord with the climate alarmists’ fashionable “global warming” narrative. By cooling the record-breaking year of 1934, and promoting 1998 as the hottest year in US history, the scientists who made the adjustments were able suddenly to show 20th century temperatures shooting up – where before they looked either flat or declining.

Thanks to the EPA and other government agencies screwing around with the data, the heat wave that produced the Dust Bowls is now no warmer than any other decade.

But as Goddard notes, the Environmental Protection Agency’s heatwave record makes a mockery of these adjustments. It quite clearly shows that the US heat waves of the 1930s were of an order of magnitude greater than anything experienced at any other time during the century – far more severe than those in the 1980s or 1990s which were no worse than those in the 1950s.

But in the spirit of Obama and his desire to globalize the United States, his lackeys have monkeyed with other the data of other countries, as well.

These adjustments, however, are not limited to the US temperature data sets. Similar fabrications have taken place everywhere from Iceland to Australia.

The fact that supposedly reputable scientists can make these dishonest adjustments and get away with it is, notes long-time sceptic Christopher Booker, one of the more remarkable anomalies of the great climate change scam.

When I first began examining the global-warming scare, I found nothing more puzzling than the way officially approved scientists kept on being shown to have finagled their data, as in that ludicrous “hockey stick” graph, pretending to prove that the world had suddenly become much hotter than at any time in 1,000 years. Any theory needing to rely so consistently on fudging the evidence, I concluded, must be looked on not as science at all, but as simply a rather alarming case study in the aberrations of group psychology.

Farm Family Make Fun of Obama’s EPA in Must See Video Parody

Farmers-Make-Thats-Enough-An-Anti-EPA-Parody-of-Let-It-Go 003

Hat/Tip to The Blaze and Fox News Insider.

Since Obama hasn’t been able to get his aggressive, economy draining agenda through Congress (even though the Democrats control the Senate), he’s using his pen and his phone to tell the EPA to implement his wishes through regulations. But some farmers in Missouri are fighting back through the use of parody to point out the absurdity of what the EPA intends to do.

Farmers are hitting back against a rule proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency in what might be considered an unexpected way: with song.

In a parody song set to Disney’s “Let It Go” from the popular film “Frozen,” Kacey and Andy Clay, along with their three young children, decry the “Waters Farmers-Make-Thats-Enough-An-Anti-EPA-Parody-of-Let-It-Go 002of the U.S.” rule that would allow the EPA to regulate water in small ponds and ditches, as well as rainwater flowing through some low spots, in a similar way to how it regulates larger bodies of water like rivers.

The rule, according to the Missouri Farm Bureau, poses “a serious threat to farming and ranching, home building, energy production and other land uses.”

Andy Clay and his wife, Casey wanted to show how asinine the EPA’s new regulations are.

Farmers-Make-Thats-Enough-An-Anti-EPA-Parody-of-Let-It-Go 001The video was produced by the Missouri Farm Bureau.

“With the help of our members we’ve rewritten the lyrics in a fun way to tell the story, but also in a serious tone to try and get people to think about what is actually being proposed at the federal level and how it may impact them,” Garett Hawkins told Brownfield Ag News last month when the video was posted on YouTube. “Truly the message is ‘that’s enough.’”

“[] you can see in the video her husband and kids perhaps exemplifying on their farm with a dry ditch what it may mean if the EPA is trying to regulate it and perhaps how absurd that is,” Hawkins continued.

In addition to the video, those against the rule have also taken to social media with  #ditchtherule.

The new EPA regulations, which force farmers to get permits if water runs onto their land, will do nothing but drive up the cost of food.

The seventh generation farming family is fed up with the Clean Water Act. Kacey and Andy Clay, along with their three kids, joined Fox and Friends this morning.

Andy said, “We don’t understand why they’re overstepping their boundaries, in my opinion here. So that’s why we teamed up with Missouri Farm Bureau to make this video to try to bring awareness to the general public.”

Under the rules, small bodies of water will be regulated and people could be forced to pay up to $37,000 dollars a day without a permit.

Waiting for a permit could take a while, cutting into the short time they have to plant crops.

Enviro-Statists Pull Wool over Supremes’ Eyes – Again

Back Row: Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen Breyer, Samuel Alito, Elena Kagan Front Row: Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, Chief Justice John Roberts, Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsberg

Hat/Tip to The Washington Times.

The Flat Earth, No Growth Marxists who keep trying to push Global Climate Warming Change (or whatever they’re calling it this week) on us have done what scores of lefties before them have done – they’ve used the courts to get what they could not obtain legislatively.

A fractured Supreme Court on Monday largely upheld the Environmental Protection Agency’s radical rule designed to shut down the power plants that produce the most affordable electricity. The justices continue to accept the EPA’s labeling of carbon dioxide as a “pollutant.” This harmless gas, the agency insists, is melting the planet.

Only the brave deny man’s responsibility for super-heating the globe in precincts where the wise and wonderful (just ask them) gather to reassure each other than they know best. “We know the trends,” President Obama told the graduates at the University of California at Irvine the other day. “The 18 warmest years on record have all happened since you graduates were born.”

The charts and graphs devised by NASA and the government’s other science agencies back up the president’s words. And well they should, because the charts, like the “science,” were faked.

The “Steven Goddard Real Science” blog compares the raw U.S. temperature records from the Energy Department’s United States Historical Climatology Network to the “final” processed figures, to demonstrate how the historical data have been “corrected,” using computer modeling.

Even if they have to lie to get what they want, it’s not a problem for them to fudge the numbers or even outright manufacture them.

The modifications made to the past temperature record had the effect of cooling the 20th century, which makes temperatures over the last 14 years appear much warmer by comparison. Such changes don’t square with history, which shows the decade of the 1930s the hottest on record. The Dust Bowl storms were so severe they sent clouds of debris from Texas and Oklahoma to the East Coast, even darkening the skies over the U.S. Capitol one day in 1934.

In an inconvenient article from 1999, written before the data had been “corrected,” James Hansen, then a NASA scientist, acknowledged that the climate had held steady after the Dust Bowl storms. “In the U.S.,” wrote Mr. Hansen, “there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country.” Mr. Hansen, recognized as a godfather of the global warming doomcriers, then predicted that the first decade of the 21st century would be even hotter than the 1930s.

To produce this hotter result, the scientists “adjusted” the temperature records to make it appear so. NASA redrew the temperature chart Mr. Hansen used in 1999, and the new chart shows a dramatically cooled 1930s. The 1990s that Mr. Hansen once said were not so hot became warmer than the 1930s.

And our President, you know him, the smartest man to ever occupy the Oval Office? Well he’s swallowed this junk science, hook line and sinker because he’s a true believer. Just him and his pen and his phone…

But he sees that the public doesn’t believe it, so he’s getting desperate.

With the global warming scam unraveling before his very eyes, President Obama and his administration want action now. “The question is not whether we need to act,” says Mr. Obama. “The overwhelming judgment of science, accumulated and measured and reviewed over decades, has put that question to rest. The question is whether we have the will to act before it’s too late.”

Too late for what? The planetary thermometer hasn’t budged in 15 years. Wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes and other “extreme” weather events are at normal or below-normal levels. Pacific islands aren’t submerged. There’s so much ice the polar bears are celebrating.

EPA Chief Promises To Go After Republicans Who Question Agency Science

Share
EPA Agency Chief, Gina McCarthy
EPA Agency Chief, Gina McCarthy

During her Senate confirmation hearings, then nominee for head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy sang a song of cooperation and transparency that evidently fooled enough Republicans, and she ended up being confirmed.

Senator David Vitter (R-LA): On one of his first days in office, the President signed a memorandum entitled, “Transparency and Open Government” in which he committed to create “an unprecedented level” of openess and transparency. The President correctly stated “transparency promotes accountability.” Given the President’s commitment, will you promise today to release to the American public all of the underlying reserch data supporting the PM and ozone benefit studies that your office has used to support such costly regulations?EPA Cheif Nominee, Gina McCarthy: [The] EPA is committed to transparency with regard to the scientific basis of agency decision making. In setting the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and in assessing health benefits anticipated from air pollution regulations, EPA relies on the scientific studies that are published in the peer reviewed literature. EPA provides the information used ni regularty decisions, including the epidemiological studies, in the publicly available docket accompanying each rule making.

Read more of the confirmation hearings.

However, like so many in the Obama administration, when the rubber meets the road, transparency takes a back seat, or gets kicked out of the car entirely. EPA Chief McCarthy has now changed her tune from cooperation to obstruction.

Environmental Protection Agency administrator Gina McCarthy has issued a warning to Republicans who continue to question the integrity of the agency’s scientific data: we’re coming for you.

McCarthy told an audience at the National Academy of Sciences on Monday morning the agency will go after a “small but vocal group of critics” who are arguing the EPA is using “secret science” to push costly clean air regulations.

“Those critics conjure up claims of EPA secret science — but it’s not really about EPA science or secrets. It’s about challenging the credibility of world renowned scientists and institutions like Harvard University and the American Cancer Society,” McCarthy said, according to Politico.

Once again folks, the science is settled, the debate is over. In the Obama world, science doesn’t question and pursue knowledge. No. In the Obama world, science dictates and obfuscates.

“It’s about claiming that research is secret if researchers protect confidential personal health data from those who are not qualified to analyze it — and won’t agree to protect it,” she added. “If EPA is being accused of secret science because we rely on real scientists to conduct research, and independent scientists to peer review it, and scientists who’ve spent a lifetime studying the science to reproduce it — then so be it.”

But Senate Republicans aren’t happy about this and they seem to be willing to tacked the EPA head on.

House Republicans have backed a bill that would block the EPA from crafting regulations based on “secret” data. Republicans argue that such data was used to craft onerous regulations, like one promulgated in late 2012 to reduce soot levels.

That soot rule is supposed to yield $4 billion to $9 billion in benefits per year, while costing from $50 million to $350 million, but the data backing that claim up is not publicly available.

“For far too long, the EPA has approved regulations that have placed a crippling financial burden on economic growth in this country with no public evidence to justify their actions,” said Arizona Republican Rep. David Schweikert, who introduced the bill.

“Virtually every regulation proposed by the Obama administration has been justified by nontransparent data and unverifiable claims,” said Smith, who cosponsored the bill. “The American people foot the bill for EPA’s costly regulations, and they have a right to see the underlying science. Costly environmental regulations should be based on publicly available data so that independent scientists can verify the EPA’s claims.”

Only time will tell whether the Senate GOP is all bark or if it has any bite to it.

Will Obama’s ‘War on Coal’ Lead to Brownouts?

Share

We have known for a while that Obama has a “war on coal.”  And, as the EPA forces many coal fired power plants to close down, we have to look at the possibility that we may face brownouts.   Pirate’s Cove has more…

Anyone surprised?

(Fox News) Facing the Obama administration’s so-called “war on coal,” some utility officials are warning that fewer coal-fired power plants could leave the U.S. power system vulnerable to blackouts in the near future.

The officials warn that intense summer heat or extreme winter cold could soon be too much for the system to handle.

“I worry about the potential of brownouts and blackouts if we’re … actually depending on this generation that’s going to be retired,” Nick Akins, from American Electric Power, told Fox News in an interview.

“Regulation from five years ago is closing about 20 percent of the coal plants. Regulations being proposed now could close an additional 20 percent of coal plants. And that creates huge stresses — we’re just not ready for anything like that in this country,” Mike Duncan, from the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, told Fox News.

So then, we might have some brownouts under peak demand times.  Then again, if there are brownouts, the leftists out there will likely blame Bush.

EPA Conducted Unethical Human Experiments: Pretends to Protect Citizens by Killing Them?

Share

If you listen to liberals, the EPA has saved humanity be decreasing pollution. And, in most noble fashion, always putting people first.  Unless it’s using humans for dangerous and unethical research, that is.  Doug Ross has more…

Now why would the EPA perform such dangerous and unconscionable experiments on humans, especially on the elderly and infirm?

Why, they’re doing it for the children, of course:

These experiments exposed people, including those with asthma and heart problems, to dangerously high levels of toxic pollutants, including diesel fumes, reads a EPA inspector general report obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. The EPA also exposed people with health issues to levels of pollutants up to 50 times greater than the agency says is safe for humans.

The EPA conducted five experiments in 2010 and 2011 to look at the health effects of particulate matter, or PM, and diesel exhaust on humans. The IG’s report found that the EPA did get consent forms from 81 people in five studies. But the IG also found that “exposure risks were not always consistently represented.”

So what if some old and sick people die?

The ends justify the means, peons — didn’t you ever learn that in school?

Well, this administration is improving health care by reducing it, making it more affordable by making it far more expensive, and creates more jobs by killing them.  All things considered, should we surprised that they are trying to save people by killing them?
