It has often been a dual claim from Conservatives that government assistance encourages dependency, and that this dependency is a desired outcome. Considering that any efforts to reform welfare are resisted by the left, and that these programs did indeed foster dependency, I think we can safely state that the said dependency is not a flaw, but a feature. It’s been said many times that government assistance comes with strings attached-that when you let the government do something for you, you cede control to them. That has been accelerating under our newest set of would-be “progressive” overlords, and here is the latest example. Mayor Michael R.
