Our government extorts taxes from us whether we like it or not. They have the power and they know how to use it. They then set the priorities on how to spend your money. You have no say in the matter unless; that is, you think your ballot box decision are the final word. How’s that worked out for you? Right! So, we are supposed to take comfort that our political elites, from their vantage point on Capitol Hill, can be trusted set the proper priorities for spending your hard-earned cash.

The thing about government’s misplaced priorities is that the negative dividends continue for years, decades, or maybe forever. Further more, the price Americans pay for these misplaced priorities is much more than dollars you pay in taxes. Much more! For example, ask yourself: How many wars _ oh, let’s say since the days of President Woodrow Wilson _ have Americans had to fight that most Americans were against US involvement? Think about the blood and treasure and ruined economies and ruined lives that Americans paid and continue to pay.

In recent times, probably no war was less supported by the American people than the Iraq War that President George Bush insisted we fight. The reason this war was necessary, President Bush told us, was that we (the government) had credible intelligence that the Saddam Hussein government had Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), which were a threat to America’s national security. To the chagrin of the America people across the political spectrum, ten years of war turned up no WMD. As a result, there’s been no end to the criticism Bush has received from both the Left and the Right and that would include yours truly. I have been a consistent critic of the Iraq War. Today, however, my good friend and operator of the Spellchek blog opened my eyes to a startling truth. You really must read this article. You will learn for example, that President Bush was not relying  on “credible intelligence reports” Saddam had WMD. He didn’t have to rely on speculative intelligence reports because he knew Saddam had WMD because he knew that Germany and the US had given Saddam WMD. Congress was told about the WMD given to Iraq in 1991! (The article has links to impeccable sources.) So, you might ask: Why would the US give WMD to Saddam? Because he was fighting a war with Iran. In other words, as the enemy of our enemy, he was prioritized as a temporary friend. You. also, might ask why in ten years no WMD were found? It’s been speculated that Saddam had time to move them somewhere safe; like Syria , maybe? Both Assad’s forces and the militant’s forces have been accused of using chemical (WMD) in the raging uncivil war in Syria. Could they be Saddam’s? Now, ISIS is said to have acquired chemical WMD and are using them against the Kurds in northern Syria. (I guess the UN missed some.) By the way, the Spellchek article has a link to an article with graphic photos of some of the dead that show no signs of bullet holes or shrapnel wounds _ just blisters and skin falling off, and open sores. Those misplaced priorities have a way, as my friend points out, of coming back and biting you in the ass.

Okay, let’s take a look at the man with the absolutely worst record of setting priorities that do great harm to the well being of Americans, President, Barack Hussein Obama. You. my fellow Americans, will be paying in countless ways for his misplaced priorities for a very long time. Consider the ramifications of Obama’s apology tour, the bail-out of the criminal Wall Street Banks, using the $800 billion stimulus package to reward his crony friends and bail-out his union buddies at GM and Chrysler, while screwing the bondholders and breaking our nation’s bankruptcy laws. This list could get very long, so, let’s move along to some current issues confronting Americans.

Enterovirus D68 and President Obama’s Open Border Policy

Enterovirus D68 has become pandemic across the United States.  A half a dozen or so children have died, so far. There are reports this morning of three more cases in Orange County, California. Many Americans have been worried about the recent surge of “unaccompanied children” from Central America crossing our southern border bringing communicable diseases with them. Please take a look at this article and learn what President Obama knew about Enterovirus D68 in Central America, when he knew it, when he knew the children would becoming and what diabolical plans were made well in advance of their arrival, including dispersing them all across America so that if there was a breakout of Enterovirus D68, they wouldn’t be concentrated in one place, which would alert Americans as to the cause. He even wrote a special secret Executive Order, giving the federal government unprecedented powers to quarantine those “suspected” of having a respiratory disease. Clearly, the priority of creating future Democratic Party voters is more important than the health of Americans.

Political Correctness Trumps Threat From Ebola

You know this is true, don’t you? But, if you need any more proof or ammunition, please read these two articles at Questions and Observations, here and here.

I hope I have shown you how the misplaced priorities of our government can and do have long-term ramifications that you pay for, in many  ways, and you keep paying for years after the Priority Misplacer has left office.

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

americans level of confidence in the presidency by term year

Hat/Tip to Gallup.

Barack Obama is suffering from the Second Term Blues, and he has only himself to blame. Well, himself and Bush, I mean he blames Bush for everything. Well, Bush and Global Climate Warming Change. Well, Bush, Climate Change and the House Republicans.

I’d better stop before this Op-Ed begins to resemble a Monty Python skit.

Anyway, as Obama is embroiled in scandal after scandal, his numbers and popularity among us “bitter clingers” here in “fly over country” are in the basement. When you compare Obama’s numbers to that of Clinton and Bush at the same point in their Presidency, you quickly see how these “phony scandals” have cost him much political capital.

And the overall disgust and dissatisfaction with the government, doesn’t stop at the President’s door step, either. All three branches of government have lost the public’s trust.

Irony Alert!! Flashback to 2008: Obama slams Bush for NOT going thru Congress…

Hat/Tip to WeaselZippers.

I’m thinking this is a case of do what I say, not what I do. In other words, Standing Operating Procedures for Liberals…

Yeah, but this was before the Imperial Presidency.

Via Right Pundit:

“I taught constitutional law for ten years, I take the Constitution very seriously. The biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m President”

Manhattan Infidel (Finally) Examines the Mystery of Malaysian Flight 370

As always the fault lies with Sarah Palin

As always the fault lies with Sarah Palin

In the weeks since the disappearance of Flight 370 many theories have been formed about what happened. I have been asked to put in my two cents.  Due to a previous commitment this opium den is like home to me I have been unable to before today.

I will now divide the more prevalent theories into the not likely, the probable and the most likely.  I ask my readers to please not try this at home.  Remember, I am a professional blogger.

The Not Likely

  • Human error

It has been theorized that human error brought down the flight.  Somehow the pilots made a simple error which doomed them.  I find this not likely.  The pilots after all were trained professionals.  The best and the brightest. Elites in their field.  And when was the last time the elite screwed things up?

  • Terrorism

Both pilots were Muslim.  It has been suggested (by Republicans and Fox News) that they crashed the plane to kill the infidels that were aboard.  This is nonsense.  Islam, after all, is the Religion of Peace™.  To even suggest this shows what an intolerant racist you are.  You should be ashamed of yourself.  And I’m not just saying this because a Muslim man kidnapped my goat.

The Probable

  • Frikin’ laser beams

‘Nuf said.  George Bush built frikin’ laser beams to destroy third world people. Everybody knows that.

  • Black holes

Hey, that’s holes of color! Despite your racist terminology it is quite possible that a hole of color (possibly manned by an alien species) brought down the flight to probe our defenses.

Most Likely

  • The Koch brothers

Is there any evil this despicable duo won’t try?  Is there any evil this despicable duo isn’t responsible for? From ordering Timothy McVeigh to blow up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building to urging Hitler to kill the Jews, these brothers are evil. They should not be allowed to exercise free speech.  They should be locked up in prison for the rest of their natural lives.  It’s for the children.

  • Sarah Palin

Lastly we come to the most likely cause of the disappearance of Flight 370:  Former Alaska governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. To investigate this story I camped out in front of Palin’s residence in Alaska.  Using state of the art microphones I was able to pick up the following conversation:

Palin:Yeah, I’d like to order a large pizza.

Unidentified Voice (probably a Koch brother):What do you want on it?

Palin:Give me the meat lovers’ pizza.  I want my pizza covered in meat.

From this snippet of conversation is is clear that Palin (that unspeakably evil bastard) was using code.  Pizza obviously mean “bring down a plane.”   Pizza covered in meat will naturally be darker.  By ordering pizza covered in meat Palin (Evil!  Evil!) was ordering a plane with peoples of color to be shot out of the sky.

Why would Palin do this?  Revenge?  Lust for power?  Who can really understand evil.  I for one thank god that as a member of the elite I am a good person who feels good about myself.

Tin Foil Hat Alert: Rachel Maddow Suggests That George Bush Was Trying to Trigger the Apocalypse

Share

tin foilhati

Yes, you read that correctly, Rachel Maddow is suggesting that George Bush wanted to trigger the apocalypse, in accordance with a rather un-Biblical conspiracy theory regarding the borders or Israel, or perhaps even reading the entrails of dead animals.  I don’t know, it’s crazy beyond…well, anything.  Here is the footage…

Of course, it’s really that FOX News and Rush Limbaugh that are cray-cray, right?
Congratulations to Rachel Maddow, who said something so nutsy that I was able to use the CH 2.0 tin foil hat post image!

CBS Selling Barak Obama Merchandise in their On-Line Store

Share

As we all know, CBS, NBC, ABC, and the like are all “real, objective” news organizations, and that any other sources are evil.  At least that is the narrative.  Of course, the blogoshphere loves to catch the MSM in their bias, and there certainly is an abundance a source material there.  But what happens when they caught selling merchandise featuring the current POTUS?

The Blaze has the details…

In fact, out of the 13 items for sale, seven are Obama-related, in addition to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s memoir, “True Compass.” The only CBS-related item is a DVD copy of “60 Minutes Presents — Obama: All Access – The Road to the White House.”

There is so much merchandise that a side bar on the site even has a separate “Barack Obama” tab for quick browsing:

The Blaze did contact CBS regarding this issue…

After several hours being bounced around through various departments, CBS directed The Blaze to a spokesman for CBS Interactive, the arm that manages the network’s online content.

So what’s the reason for the items?

In a statement, the spokesman said the merchandise posted for sale was a mistake by the store’s third-party provider and would be taken down:

“It has come to our attention that merchandise unrelated to CBS News was inadvertently made available by our third-party provider on the webpage that is located in the CBS Interactive online store. The items will be removed. We’d like to thank The Blaze for their vigilance in this important matter.”

Important, indeed.

Kindly follow the link back to the Blaze to see all of this in it’s glory.

Now, I decided to see if the CBS store had removed all of the Obama merchandise.  So, at the time of this writing, here is the view of the CBS store if you search for “Barak Obama.”

Click the images to embiggen on my Photobucket

Just as a joke, I decided to see if they were “fair and balanced,” and searched for “George Bush.”

Nothing to see here, just keep moving…

Former Thatcher Adviser Unleashes on Obama

Share

Nile Gardiner, a British conservative commentator and former aide to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, unleashed on US President Barack Obama (Democrat) in his latest column, summing up Obama and his Democratic administration’s actions perfectly:

The decision by credit agency Standard and Poor’s to downgrade America’s AAA credit rating for the first time in 70 years is a massive blow to the credibility of the Obama administration, and a damning indictment of its handling of the economy. No doubt the White House will pathetically try to blame the Bush Administration, Republicans in Congress, and of course its favourite target, the Tea Party, for the move by S&P. But without a shadow of a doubt, responsibility for the country’s financial mess and staggering levels of debt lie with the current US president and his administration. They have been in charge of running the economy for over 30 months, during which time the United States has witnessed an unprecedented increase in government spending and borrowing.

As the Congressional Budget Office revealed In January, the deficits generated under the Obama administration are the largest since the end of World War Two…

…Since President Obama took office in January 2009, the United States has embarked on the most ambitious failed experiment in Washington meddling in US history. Huge increases in government spending, massive federal bailouts, growing regulations on businesses, thinly veiled protectionism, and the launch of a vastly expensive and deeply unpopular health care reform plan, have all combined to instill fear and uncertainty in the markets. Free enterprise has taken a backseat to continental European-style interventionism, as an intensely ideological left wing administration has sought to dramatically increase the role of the state in shaping the US economy. The end result has been a dramatic fall in economic freedom, sluggish growth, poor consumer confidence, high unemployment, a collapsing housing market, and an overall decline in US prosperity, with more than 45 million Americans now reliant on food stamps – that’s over one seventh of the entire country.

These are increasingly dangerous times, with American leadership being challenged across the globe. Only an historic reduction in government spending combined with pro-growth measures including lower business tax rates to stimulate job creation and attract investment can turn the US economy around. Unfortunately, as Standard and Poor’s decision has shown, this is a presidency in extreme denial over America’s towering debts, leading a nation on a precipice while blindfolded to reality. The United States badly needs another Reagan-style revolution to stave off further economic disaster, preserve American leadership on the world stage, and secure the future of a superpower. Ultimately, greater liberty and freedom, not the deathly hand of Big Government, are needed to turn this great nation around.

He nails it- sometimes it takes a guy from across the pond to really sum up things over here. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Plays the Race Card

Share

The left often plays the race card and usually they are crying wolf when they do. The latest example of this is by Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who on the floor of Congress said in part:

“I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one. Read between the lines,” she continued. “What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?”

So let me understand this. What did then Senator Obama say about raising the debt ceiling when George W. Bush was President?

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”  – Senator Obama

I guess Senator Obama was behaving in a racist manner. I mean according to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee that is why everyone is against Obama. The only reason he doesn’t get “respectful treatment” is because of his skin color. So when the NY Times ran article after article bashing President Bush, was that “respectful treatment?” When Senator Harry Reid called Bush the worst President ever, was that “respectful treatment?”

The left refuses to admit that the first black man to be elected to the highest office in our land has been an abysmal failure. Their desperation is beginning to show and the closer we get to the 2012 elections and Obama is forced to run on his record, then the kid gloves will come off. This is, in all likelihood going to be the nastiest Presidential election in our lifetime.

I Knew I Was Different From Liberal Teachers When…

Share

I knew I was different than other teachers when during my student teaching, I substituted for a 9th Grade ‘US History’ and 10th Grade ‘Political and Economic Systems’ teacher at nearby High School in a local public school. This event really struck home to me how different I was as a teacher from the majority (50%+) of teachers in public schools, in particular social studies teachers- they were mostly liberal and some were very liberal teachers, and I was a very conservative teacher.

The teacher that I subbed for had so many inappropriate left leaning liberal communist Democrat pieces of propaganda and teaching materials in her room that I was immediately frightened for the students of this teacher. These students were surrounded by slogans and images that assaulted them continuously, especially if they were conservative, Republican, libertarian, or moderate. For example, there was a sticker on her desk that had in large letters “Hey Congress, Don’t let Bush Ruin Social Security.” What purpose does displaying this sticker to a classroom of students have? You put stickers like that where students can view them for the purposes of teaching students that that phrase or thought or idea is acceptable, desired, and to be believed.

Another sticker (covering up the fire alarm) read “Kerry for President.” You know, that’s okay- a lot of social studies teachers collect stickers and slogans and show them as an example of the types of thought that go through American society- as long as they are historical, meaningful, and balanced, there is nothing wrong with that particular sticker. So, seeking parity or equality in political representation in the room, I looked around the room. I immediately saw another large poster displayed that read “Kerry/Edwards”, but had to keep looking before I eventually found a Bush poster in the room. There it was, a big picture of Bush- and tacked over it were dozens of editorials printed from the teacher’s computer that criticized Bush and attacked him- so many angry attacking editorials were taped over Bush’s picture that it was almost entirely covered.

Also up in her room, tacked to the front board, was a print-out of an article calling Bush a dummy, a poster that advocated car pooling with the slogan on it “collectivism beats individualism!”, and a big poster against peace through strength and against a strong nuclear policy (good thing people like her had no power in government during the Cold War, or we’d all be speaking Russian or dead) (bad thing people like her have power over students education on the Cold War).

Skin still crawling and almost in shock at the liberal leftist overload that this room assaulted students with, I browsed through some of her teaching materials (there were no students yet- I had gotten to school early to prepare myself for the days lessons).

One eternal truth that I now know is that a liberal left teacher does not seek to enlighten and educate students, but rather seeks to indoctrinate and brainwash students. Critical thinking and opposing viewpoints are not welcome in a liberal teacher’s classroom, only affirmations of their beliefs to satisfy a liberals lack of self-worth. Because of this truth, once a liberal left teacher is spotted, their teaching materials will obviously be slanted as well, as they seek to warp students to their viewpoints.

This liberal teacher’s unit on WWII was a good example of the type of liberal indoctrination that goes on too frequently in the public schools of the United States. It was liberally slanted- for example, there were long discussions in the class ‘debating’ whether to drop the atomic bombs- but debate is a weak word, since the discussion prompts were designed to point students toward being against dropping the atomic bombs, and in the teacher’s notes she herself wrote down many more arguments against dropping the bombs than for, so in reality, there was no real ‘debate’ with this issue (and from my later questioning of students, they told me that there was little education behind the debate as well, as this teacher felt that military theory and tactics and strategy was un-politically correct to mention in a classroom).

Another key part of this liberal teacher’s WWII lesson focused on a long talk on the Japanese internment, had several days planned on the Holocaust, there was a lecture on how WWII ended the Great Depression, there was a lesson on how rationing and state control of the economy helped to win the war, and lastly there was an article written by a German that criticized the US for bombing civilians. All of these items were in the “WWII” unit. This was all that was in the unit on WWII (I looked through many folders in this teacher’s closet trying to find more).

Lacking from this liberal teacher’s WWII unit were discussions on opening a second front, war aims of the various countries, strategy and tactics of battle, stories from GI’s of individual courage, sacrifice, or heroism, “Saving Private Ryan” type stuff displaying real qualities of people in the war, or anything at all that was moderate or critical of liberal ways of thinking. A student, after spending a week or two learning about WWII in this teacher’s class, would be ill-prepared for anything but a shockingly liberal and incomplete view of WWII.  This liberal teacher, like many more all over the nation, choose to have a discussion about how price controls helped us win WWII rather than discuss the individual heroism of our ancestors in WWII.

Another example from this one teacher’s files was her lesson on rating the Presidents. As she taught it, the Presidents could be rated as FDR 2, Clinton 20, Reagan 40, Bush 25, etc the list was liberally and Democratic slanted.  Her unit on political cartoons was filled with cartoon after cartoon that ripped into conservatives, libertarians, and Republicans- and had not a single cartoon that ripped Democrats or liberals. This teacher had a book on her desk almost burned my hands- it was called “A Necessary Evil” and here is a quote from it ‘antigovernment sentiment is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of history…’ and the book goes on to defend big statist government. This is the type of material that inspired her and that she passed on tot he students in her classroom.

I sat and thought about the situation I was in a little more, and suddenly it occurred to me- it was no surprise that the district had hired, employed, and supported a teacher such as this to teach “Political and Economic Systems.” This class, mandated by the school district, had a syllabus that should have read “Attacking Capitalism and the American Way of Life.” The whole class and semester of learning was just a series of liberal leftist attacks on conservatives, limited government, freedom, individuality, and libertarianism. From looking through all of her materials, it became apparent that every discussion about economics was focused on obligations the employer owed the voluntarily employed employee, and were heavily pro-union.

This liberal teacher’s Progressive Era test actually had the following as the ‘right’ answer- Rockefeller’s description was ‘wealthy industrialist who ran standard oil, and was asked about his duty to the public, replied ‘public be damned.'” The one thing this teacher wants students to take away about an innovative and brilliant industrialist such as Rockefeller is that he said ‘public be damned,’ thereby creating a whole new batch of people who hate Rockefeller and ‘industrialist’s’. Her ‘Progressive Era’ test and teaching materials were interesting- I assumed she meant the time period, and thus other things that occurred during this time, but instead the unit should have been called “Why Progressive’s were Right”. According to students who studied in her class, from 1870 to 1910, the only thing that occurred were Progressives people saying the right things.

The capstone of this class was for students to watch and discuss Michael Moore’s controversial film “Roger and Me.” Again, it’s not necessarily wrong to show this film, if it will serve as a basis for a critical discussion, bring up contrary arguments, and expose different viewpoints to the students, and is matched by some sort of conservative film. But not in a liberal’s class- in this class, it was shown as fact. There was to be no criticism of his methods, beliefs, or agenda allowed. Oh, students did have to get a permission slip signed for this movie- but not because most parents would not want their child learning about this guy and his sick methods and agenda, but because in the movie there is shown “violence against animals.” Rudeness, violence, foul language, heavily slanted viewpoint- no permission slip needed, but “Violence against animals” needs a permission slip.

Liberal students feel encouraged and safe in an environment such as this, while non liberal students are threatened and made to feel unsafe- emotionally they are belittled and told how evil they are, and intellectually they are attacked daily. And it was after seeing this teacher’s classroom and teaching materials that I knew in my heart that I was different than other teachers, and was a heavily conservative teacher, and would have to struggle against the education system the whole time as such. But I don’t care- if I can do even a little bit to counter what this teacher is doing in her classroom through my conservative teacher philosophy of teaching students critical thinking and individual responsibility and real knowledge, I will have made the world a better place.

Cheney Destroys the “Blame Bush” Excuse on Afghanistan

Share

dick_cheney

Former Vice President, and IMHO a great American Patriot, Dick Cheney gave some remarks while accepting the Keeper of the Flame award from the Center for Security Policy. He took this opportunity to address some comments Rahm Emanuel made in a CNN interview.

Rahm “Dead Fish” Emanuel’s remarks:

“You have literally got into a situation, is there another way you can do this? And the president is asking the questions that have never been asked on the civilian side, the political side, the military side, and the strategic side. What is the impact on the region? What can the Afghan government do or not do? Where are we on the police training? Who would be better doing the police training? Could that be something the Europeans do? Should we take the military side? Those are the questions that have not been asked. And before you commit troops, which is — not irreversible, but puts you down a certain path — before you make that decision, there’s a set of questions that have to have answers that have never been asked. And it’s clear after eight years of war, that’s basically starting from the beginning, and those questions never got asked.

And what I find interesting and just intriguing from this debate in Washington, is that a lot of people who all of a sudden say, this is now the epicenter of the war on terror, you must do this now, immediately approve what the general said — where, before, it never even got on the radar screen for them. That — everything was always about Iraq.”

So Emanuel was blaming the Bush administration for Obama’s indecisiveness in Afghanistan. He was implying that Bush was so focused on Iraq that he took his eyes off the ball in Afghanistan; not giving it the thought and planning it deserved. Cheney fully and completely called the Obama administration out on this one. Evidently Bush, Cheney, et al. did a complete study of Afghanistan in the fall of 2008, with complete intel and a comprehensive plan for winning the war. Obama and his transition team asked them to keep this quiet. I wonder why?

Here are some of Cheney’s remarks concerning Afghanistan:

“Recently, President Obama’s advisors have decided that it’s easier to blame the Bush Administration than support our troops. This weekend they leveled a charge that cannot go unanswered. The President’s chief of staff claimed that the Bush Administration hadn’t asked any tough questions about Afghanistan, and he complained that the Obama Administration had to start from scratch to put together a strategy.

In the fall of 2008, fully aware of the need to meet new challenges being posed by the Taliban, we dug into every aspect of Afghanistan policy, assembling a team that traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan, reviewing options and recommendations, and briefing President-elect Obama’s team. They asked us not to announce our findings publicly, and we agreed, giving them the benefit of our work and the benefit of the doubt. The new strategy they embraced in March, with a focus on counterinsurgency and an increase in the numbers of troops, bears a striking resemblance to the strategy we passed to them. They made a decision – a good one, I think – and sent a commander into the field to implement it.

Now they seem to be pulling back and blaming others for their failure to implement the strategy they embraced. It’s time for President Obama to do what it takes to win a war he has repeatedly and rightly called a war of necessity.”

Also, Cheney shed light on the Obama decision to pull the missile defense shield in Europe:

“Most anyone who is given responsibility in matters of national security quickly comes to appreciate the commitments and structures put in place by others who came before. You deploy a military force that was planned and funded by your predecessors. You inherit relationships with partners and obligations to allies that were first undertaken years and even generations earlier. With the authority you hold for a little while, you have great freedom of action. And whatever course you follow, the essential thing is always to keep commitments, and to leave no doubts about the credibility of your country’s word.

So among my other concerns about the drift of events under the present administration, I consider the abandonment of missile defense in Eastern Europe to be a strategic blunder and a breach of good faith.

It is certainly not a model of diplomacy when the leaders of Poland and the Czech Republic are informed of such a decision at the last minute in midnight phone calls. It took a long time and lot of political courage in those countries to arrange for our interceptor system in Poland and the radar system in the Czech Republic. Our Polish and Czech friends are entitled to wonder how strategic plans and promises years in the making could be dissolved, just like that – with apparently little, if any, consultation. Seventy years to the day after the Soviets invaded Poland, it was an odd way to mark the occasion.”

Following my article, I will provide a link to the entirety of Cheney’s remarks. I strongly suggest reading them. His understanding of foreign affairs and the interactions between the United States and her allies, and enemies alike is undeniable. A lot of people disagree with Cheney and the left likes to paint him as a “Neo-Con” and a war monger. Yet he sticks to his principles and he takes the time to speak out. He is in a unique position to represent the opposition to Obama and the far left, since he isn’t running for office. This allows him to speak his mind and be more direct. I understand that G.W. Bush wants to take the high road and avoid criticism of his successor to the Oval Office, but Cheney has no such limitations. With his intimate knowledge of how this country was protected in the aftermath of 9/11, he is the perfect foil to the “blame Bush” mantra that the Obama administration all-too-often falls back on.

I cheer Dick Cheney and applaud his efforts to let the truth be told. He is a great American, a great Patriot and is one of the best, if not THE best Vice Presidents this country has ever had.
