As I make my daily rounds of the internet, reading news stories but mostly conservative and libertarian blogs, I try to keep an eye out for conservative messages that might have a chance of registering with those of the leftest mind-set. It’s not easy to get through to a leftest. When confronted with facts and information that is contrary to their view of the world, they automatically tune you out and begin thinking of nasty slurs they can through at you. There are rare exceptions when a leftest coverts to conservatism on their own. This usually happens when they begin comparing their leftist views with the real world. We know this is what happened to Andrew Breitbart, for example. And, you may not know that Thomas Sowell was a Marxist while studying for his PhD under Milton Friedman at the University of Chicago. But, the vast majority of leftist totally ignore the real world and live in their own cocoons of progressive thought. It occurred to me that what we conservatives need is a message that the leftest won’t recognize as a conservative message until it¡s too late. Until the message has registered. Yesterday I believe I came across two such messages.

The first is one of those well done animated features on You- Tube that explains the European crisis and in fact explains the situation here in the US, as well. I snagged this from Bob at the Gonna’ Say It blog who in turn snagged it from  Dr. Sanity .

My second find is a take off on the Dr. Seuss children’s story, Green Eggs and Ham. [ Interesting Side Note: After writing The Cat in the Hat in 1955 using only 223 words, Dr. Seuss bet his publisherthat he could write a book using only 50 words. Seuss collected on the wager in 1960 with the publication of Green Eggs and Ham.] I borrowed this gem from Grant Davies of the What We Think and Why blog. This little diddy actually originated with Dan Mitchell at  International Liberty .

I do not like this Uncle Sam, I do not like his health care scam.

.
I do not like these dirty crooks, or how they lie and cook the books.

I do not like when Congress steals, I do not like their secret deals.

.
I do not like ex-speaker Nan, I do not like this ‘YES, WE CAN!’

.
I do not like this spending spree — Even a fool knows that nothing’s free.

.
I do not like the smug replies, when we complain about their lies.

.
I do not like this kind of hope. I do not like it, I’m not a dope!

So, there you have it, my friends. Two simple messages you can copy and send to your lefist friends and neighbors or give them to your children to take to school for show and tell. There is probably no more than a one in a thousand chance theat the messages will penetrate the leftist mind; but hey, it’s a start.

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

Folks, we had better start listening to Paul Ryan, because we’re heading down the same road as Greece and very soon our debt is going to spiral out of control. It will reach a tipping point and we won’t be able to do anything to stop it. It’s an election year and both sides appear to be playing politics with our future. They don’t want to deal with this debt crisis because it’s the silly season when politicians paint a picture of rainbows and unicorns for the electorate. They want us feeling good about ourselves and buying into the empty promises they’re trying to sell us. Paul Ryan is one of the few elected official in Washington these days who is daring to stand on principles and tell the American people what the score really is in regards to our debt crisis. That is what leadership is about folks. Leadership is doing the right thing no matter what the cost. The first clip is from a few weeks ago.

You can hear in his voice how frustrated and disgusted he is with his colleagues for not passing a budget, because like he said you don’t even have a starting point to address this problem without a budget. It starts and ends with a budget.  Instead we have continuing spending resolutions that continue to increase our debt at record levels.  This past Sunday on ABC’s This Week he discussed the budget, Medicare, Social Security, and partisan politics.  Below is a clip from his interview.

While Representative Ryan offers up ideas and solutions to help restore America, his partisan minded colleagues play politics with our future and our children’s future. He is speaking up and warning us of what America faces if we don’t get a handle on our spending problems.  He too is running for reelection this November, and yet he is not afraid to tell us the cold hard truth.  This is the kind of leadership that is needed to turn this thing around and unfortunately it’s lacking in D.C. these days.  Congressman Ryan cares about America and he sees what America will look like if we don’t correct course. I applaud Congressman Ryan for his efforts and his willingness to stand up for each of us. This is what real leadership looks like.

Liberty forever, freedom for all.

There Will Be No Instant Gratification

Nile Gardiner, based in Washington and writing for The Telegraph, has analysed current polls and believes that end of big nanny government may be in sight. Here are some of the poll results that he sites:

  •  81 percent of Americans dissatisfied with the way the country is being governed, which comes from 65% Democrats and 92% Republicans. And from a Gallop poll, he reports
  •  57% have little or no confidence in the federal government to solve domestic problems, exceeding the previous high of 53% recorded in 2010. And
  •  Americans believe, on average, that the federal government wastes 51 cents of every tax dollar, similar to a year ago, but up significantly from 46 cents a decade ago and from an average 43 cents three decades ago. And
  • 49% of Americans believe the federal government has become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. In 2003, less than a third (30%) believed this.

I certainly find these numbers encouraging. It would appear that there is great change taking place in the average American’s attitude about government being able to solve all of society’s woes.  People do seem to be waking-up to the fact we can not continue to borrow money  that no amount of future generations can ever pay off because we will forever be borrowing more and more money that is worth less and less.

Yet, I wonder how many of these people who were polled understand how much their life is going to change as the country transitions from the nanny state to something closer or even equal to what our founders had in mind. I wonder how many of these people think that, by electing a different set of politicians, they will bring about the instant gratification the people seek.

I wonder how many people have thought about what  is going to happen when they get smack in the face by reality. There are very few Americans that will not be affected by the end of the nanny state. Think about all the people who are recipients of money handed out by the nanny state. Think about how many people are employed by the nanny state on the federal, state and, local level. Think about how many businesses sell goods and services to the nanny state on all levels.

Folks,  the big government elitist and the bankster led us down this path of destruction; but, we can not escape our own culpability in following them. We are in a very deep hole. I’m wondering how many Americans will accept the reality  and work shoulder to shoulder to climb out of hole and rebuild our country based on sound  monetary and fiscal policies; and how many Americans are going to deny the reality  and fight the necessary changes.

I think it would be naive to think we will avoid the violence that has rocked and continues to rock countries like Greece.  The Greeks, of course, followed the nanny state elitist and banksters much further down the path than we have. They are only the first country that has to face the fail of the nanny state.  You may want to read this AP Yahoo News article on the most recent plans of protest in Greece and then watch this short video. I s this an example of what is in store for America?

Well, that’s what I’m thinking. What are your thoughts?

I Saw A Great City on a Hill…

Caution. Patriots will weep. Proceed at your own risk.

Just today Fox News’ web site had an article about the chaos in Greece with a headline “Could the U.S. be Next?” Also today my sister-in-law was astounded to find out that the Rev. Franklin Graham was not allowed at the pentagon prayer service. She doesn’t have cable and heard the news about Rev. Graham on the Focus on the Family radio broadcast. As I consider these 2 separate events I realize the disconnect in America is huge. Some mainstream media have been tugging at the heart strings for the Times Square bomber because he never realized the American dream. Nashville is under 10 feet of water as are numerous counties and nothing is on the news. BP and the oil spill are all over the news but the Administration’s slow response time goes almost without mention and a man stabs a bus driver to death while the bus is en route.

Considering this first paragraph I would say we are well on the way to the violence in Greece. Today I watched video of Mexican students in California snatching flag from a handicapped man in a wheelchair. I think it was a Mexican flag but a from a guy in a wheelchair. I read that the kids who were sent home from school for wearing patriotic colors received and apology from the principal. Too bad they were advised to stay home from school for fear of violence from the Latino kids. Oh yes. Two of the kids are half Mexican.

So let me summarize. The dollar is falling the Twin Towers of NYC and the stock market graph looks like a heartbeat on life support. A Christian preacher is not welcome to pray at the Pentagon because some Muslims don’t like his message and the MSM was hoping that the Time Square bombing incident was a Tea Party member. Add that the people of Tennessee are suffering big time and none of them have flood insurance because they aren’t in a flood plain. No news here folk. Move on. While I haven’t heard why the guy stabbed the city bus driver I can’t wait to see the coverage of that because you sure as heck aren’t going to see any coverage of Mexican kids molesting a handicapped guy.

Perhaps by next week the Patriotic kids can return to their school. Too bad that what they will be taught will be some half truths and history redacted for convenience sake.
In answer to Fox News’ question I think it needs no answer. I think it was purely rhetorical as they see it coming plain as day. Yep. The conservatives will get the blame but the liberals have already started fighting, just no one is covering it. By the way, though no one is talking much about it the government just took over the Internet. They will say it isn’t so. Blog while you can because freedom of speech is about to become an historic concept.
