Notice that there seems to be a war on Christianity under way?  Well, the folks at Hobby lobby have noticed, as they  went to court to escape the the ObamaCare regulations that require them to provide coverage for the abortion pill.  Unfortunately, it seems that at least one federal judge seems t think that Religious Freedom really doesn’t exist.

LifeNews reported:

A federal judge has issued a ruling siding with the Obama administration saying that it has the right to force Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned and run company, to pay for drugs for women that may cause abortions.

The privately held retail chain with more than 500 arts and crafts stores in 41 states filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration over its HHS mandate. The company says it would face $1.3 million in fines on a daily basis starting in January if it fails to comply with the mandate, which requires religious employers to pay for or refer women for abortion-cause drugs that violate their conscience or religious beliefs.

The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and the business says it is opposing the Health and Human Services “preventive services” mandate, which it says forces the Christian-owned-and-operated business to provide, without co-pay, the “morning after pill” and “week after pill” in their health insurance plan, or face crippling fines up to 1.3 million dollars per day.

“By being required to make a choice between sacrificing our faith or paying millions of dollars in fines, we essentially must choose which poison pill to swallow,” said David Green, Hobby Lobby CEO and founder. “We simply cannot abandon our religious beliefs to comply with this mandate.”

However, U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton issued a ruling late Monday rejecting Hobby Lobby’s request to block the mandate. Judge Heaton said that the company doesn’t qualify for an exemption because it is not a church or religious group.

Now, it would be simple to point out that Muslims would scream, and be heard, of they were forced to sell bacon.  Vegans would complain, sue, and win, if they were forced to eat veal.  However, Christians are systematically targeted and shot down by judges.  But,I think there is more to it than simple discrimination-it the concerted effort to punish and drive Christians, and more importantly, that Jesus guy, from all aspects of public life.

As I see it, there are two motivations for this…

1.  Under the socialist utopia, there shall be no God before government.  Christians, particularly the ones that actually believe on their faith, put God before any else, especially government.  This prevents them from being the good drones that the government indoctrination machine wants to produce.  Without good drones, the liberal utopia collapses under the doubt of it’s citizens.   So, Christians must be punished, discriminated against, ridiculed, and persecuted, lest other people listen, and come to know the Jesus guy.

2. The “boss” of liberalism does not like God, and has spent considerable effort on attacking the followers of the Jesus guy.  He’s used Cultural Marxism (political correctness), Communism, Fascism, the Alinsky Method, and a myriad of other tactics and schemes to attack the followers, and prevent more people from hearing or believing the words of the Jesus guy.  This is just the latest in a long line of aggressions.  I would think that they “boss” of liberalism see’s his end-game coming, and he is accelerating his efforts, all in an attempt to eliminate any reference, or reverence for the Jesus guy from our society.

Either way, this is potentially a big in for the left.  Either Hobby Lobby sells out their faith, which shows them to be weak in faith, and not good example-or they close.  Either way, the Christian influence in society is diminished, and less people are under the influence of that pesky Jesus.

Categorize this under “elections have consequences.”  There is news on the layoff front. In the few days since President Obama won his surprising, fraud filled victory, over 75,000 people lost their jobs.  Breitbart has more…

The Department of Labor has announced that new jobless claims rose by a staggering 78,000 in the first week after the election, reaching a seasonally-adjusted total of 439,000. Over the past year, and in the weeks leading up to the election, jobless claims were said to be declining, dipping as low as 339,000, with the media proclaiming that they had reached the “lowest level in more than four years.” Now, suddenly, the news seems far less rosy.

From the Department of Labor press release this morning:

In the week ending November 10, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 439,000, an increase of 78,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 361,000. The 4-week moving average was 383,750, an increase of 11,750 from the previous week’s revised average of 372,000.

Some of the new claims, especially in New Jersey, were due to Hurricane Sandy–but these were offset by a decline in claims filed in New York. The highest numbers of new filings came from Pennsylvania and Ohio, where there were thousands of layoffs in the construction, manufacturing, and automobile industries.

This was predictable.  Bloggers and other Conservative sources were predicting this for some time prior to the election.  We knew that businesses were holding on to see if Romney would win.  They knew that if Romney won, the ObamaCare would be repealed.  They knew that their taxes wouldn’t be going up, and they knew that a wave of new regulations would be cancelled.  However, since Obama did win, they have to slash hours, jobs, or close altogether. America was warned.  The information was out there.  Even though the media didn;t discuss this before hand, and aren’t talking about it now, people can find it easily.

Elections have consequences.  And on November 6, 2012, people chose to vote themselves out of a job.  There are more coming, sadly, and I’ll continue to discuss it.  Since it doesn’t make Obama look good, You’ll have to read about it here, because the media won’t be covering it soon.

Catholic Bishop Promises Civil Disobedience if ObamaCare Abortion Mandates Enforced

Share

It appears that the Catholic Church is gearing up for a showdown against the Obama Administration, especially when it comes to the ObamaCare mandates concerning abortion.  Gateway Pundit has more…

Catholic.org reported:

Martin Luther King’s “Letter from the Birmingham Jail” (April 16, 1963) is one of our nation’s elegant testimonies to the political implications of our Declaration of Independence:

“One may want to ask: ‘How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?’ The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that ‘an unjust law is no law at all.’”

Indeed, there may be more theological letters written from the confines of jail cells in the near future, as the Catholic bishops quickly approach the end of a one-year deadline given to them by the Obama administration to obey the HHS mandate or face the consequences. Not a single bishop has signaled any other intention than to embrace the consequences with the joy of serving Christ.

Was Archbishop Chaput predicting the future in the interview when he concluded,“This has been the story of the martyrs through the centuries”? We know it has crossed his mind: At Chester Springs, he said, but only half-jokingly, “I don’t want to go to jail.”

If the election affirms the Obama administration’s HHS mandate, there is a 100 percent chance that there will be civil disobedience in the Catholic Church, led by its bishops. Whether jail will follow is anyone’s guess.

I wonder how the media will cover this?  Will the Catholics be portrayed as “dangerous radicals?”  Will they be accused of all the things that OWS actually did, and was given cover for?  I think we all know the answer to that. Though, there is a possibility that Obama will relent, if to only take some of the pressure off.

We’ll see what happens.

Elections Have Consequences: Let the Layoffs Begin!

Share

In the run up to the election we had covered how many companies had planned layoffs due to Obama’s policies, as well as those that planned layoffs in the event that Obama was re-elected.  And, just as predicted, it has begun.  Here are a set of links and excerpts…

Small Businessman Lays off Workers to Avoid ObamaCare Taxes…

The HuffPo has the story…

The man identified himself as Stu, without giving a last name, and said he owns a small aviation services company. He told C-SPAN’s Washington Journal that he“simply can’t afford” to run his business if he has to comply with the the Affordable Care Act.

“Yesterday I called all my part-time employees in and said because Obama won I was cutting their hours from 30 to 25 a week so i would not fall under the Obamacare mandate,” Stu, who said he is from Williamson, Ga., told C-SPAN.

Under the Affordable Health Care Act, businesses with more than 50 workers arerequired to provide health care coverage for full-time employees or those working more than 30 hours per week. Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Red Lobster and The Olive Garden, announced in October that it would downgrade workers to part-time status to limit costs from Obamacare.

“I had to lay two full-timers off to get under the 50-person cap,” Stu told C-SPAN. “I tried to make sure that the people I had to lay off voted for Obama.”

Of course, the tone of the HuffPo story is that it’s the employer’s fault, which will be a consistent theme that emerges…that it’s not the policy that is putting people out of work, or businesses going under…it is greed of owners.

Businessman Lays Off off 22 of 114 Employees due to ObamaCare

The CBS Affiliate in Las Vegas has the story…

“David” (he asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons) told Host Kevin Wall on 100.5 KXNT that “elections have consequences” and that “at the end of the day, I need to survive.”

Here’s an excerpt from the interview. Click the audio tab below to hear even more from this compelling conversation:

“I’ve done my share of educating my employees. I never tell them which way to vote. I believe in the free system we have, I believe in the right to choose who they want to be president, but I did explain as a business owner that I have always put my employees first. I always made sure that when I went without a paycheck that [I] made sure they were paid. And I explained that I always put them first and unfortunately I’m at a point where I’m being forced to have to worry about me and my family now and a business that I built from just me to 114 employees.

“I explained to them a month ago that if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business, and I’m gonna have to make provisions to make sure I have enough money to cover the payroll taxes, the additional health care I’m gonna have to do, and I explained that to them and I said you do what you feel like in your heart you need to do, but I’m just letting you know as a warning this is things I have to think of as a business owner.

Of course, this business owner would be portrayed as a bad guy as well.

The War on Coal Takes More Victims…

WSIL TV has the story…

GALATIA — A local coal mine is cutting jobs and blaming it on politics. American Coal in Galatia laid off 54 miners on Wednesday, saying President Barack Obama’s re-election is bad news for the coal industry.

Layoffs are never easy for those losing their jobs, but for a region already economically depressed, the loss of 54 jobs cuts deeply. The sting is made all the more worse knowing the move could be politically motivated.

“There is no question that the United States coal industry is being destroyed by the actions of Barack H. Obama,” said Bob Murray, CEO of Murray Energy, during the Old King Coal Festival in September.

Murray authorized the pink slips at American Coal, a subsidiary company, just hours after the re-election of President Obama. In a news release, Murray Energy blamed the Obama Administration’s “War on Coal”, stating the layoffs were more severe in anticipation that the coal industry will get worse in the next four years.

That’s all for now.  I’ll be covering as many layoffs as I can see, and reminding the people that elections have consequences.

Video: Priest Gives ObamaCare Mandates the “Finger”

Share

Teresa, over at Teresamerica, posted the following video.  The Priest in the video chronicles the lies Obama had told about ObamaCare, and the mandates therein.  Of course, Catholics supported ObamaCare, and like all useful idiots, and are now feeling the sting that comes with being tools for the government.   That, and they are now looking up at the bottom of the bus.

I can only hope that Catholics use this as a teachable moment.  They should have learned that…

1.  Socialism is based on lies.

2.  Socialized ANYTHING IS socialism.

3.  Regressive politicians will say anything to get their socialism passed.  Because they know that once it is  implemented, it will be nearly impossible to repeal.

A Tale of two Stories: Praying Priest and Pastor Arrested at White House, Occupiers Threw Smoke Bomb in January-no Arrests

Share

In an apparent escalation between the Obama administration and Christians, six people, including a priest and a pastor, were arrested at the White House fence last Thursday.  Their offence?  Praying.  Gateway Pundit has more…

World Net Daily reported on the arrests:

Six people peacefully protested the Obama administration’s mandate requiring employers to provide contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-producing drugs by kneeling in prayer in front of the White House, and they quickly were arrested and whisked away by U.S. Park police.

The six people, including Wilde, of Priests for Life, and Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition, organized the peaceful protest on the heels of a Priests for Life lawsuit filed against the Obama administration seeking to permanently block the implementation of the HHS mandate.

Um, praying in front of the White House warrants arrests?  I guess there shall be no other Gods than Obama.  But, in all seriousness, there is more to the story…

“Occupy Wall Street protesters have been occupying federal property for months, but when we kneel in prayer, the police are called in and we are arrested,” said Father Wilde, one of the protesters.

That is a rather compelling point.  And, in fact, the Occpods had a protest at the White House as well, including throwing a smoke bomb over the fence…

(AP)  WASHINGTON — An apparent smoke bomb was thrown over the fence of the White House as hundreds of Occupy protesters massed outside the gates.

The crowds were dispersed Tuesday night, and U.S. Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie says there were no arrests in the incident.(emphasis added)

The article goes on to state that there were somewhere between 1000 and 1500 occupods at the January protest.

So, over 1000 protesters show up in January, and one throws a smoke bomb over the fence, and there are no arrests.  Then, last week, six individuals prayed, and were then arrested.

I almost want to think that the administration wants to escalate the conflict over the ObamaCare mandates.  It would certainly give the MSM something to talk about other than the economy.  And, it would send more of the STFU message to Christians.  For the administration, it would be win-win.
