Who the hell died and put Moochelle in charge of our kid’s snack time?
Well, as the saying goes, she’s Large And In Charge. And if your kid is too fat, she wants to know.
Bureaucrats from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will weigh and measure children in daycare as part of a study mandated by First Lady Michelle Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act.
The agency published a notice in the Federal Register on Friday proposing data collection on what meals are served in professional and home daycare facilities and how much physical activity children perform.
“Children will be asked to cooperate with study staff who will weigh and measure them for the Standing Height and Weight Form,” the notice said.
The study is required by section 223 of Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, which was championed by Mrs. Obama and passed in 2010. The main aspect of the law implemented new standards for school lunches.
A lesser-known requirement of the law is the “Study on Nutrition and Wellness Quality in Childcare Settings (SNAQCS),” which the USDA announced Friday. The public will have 60 days to comment.
The USDA said the data collection is important since more than 30 million kids are in daycare.

Choices? You don’t have those either.
But, nagging? For sure. Because your kid will eat what Moochelle tells her to eat. And nothing else.
I don’t remember seeing this sociopathic control freak on my election ballot. How about you? The fact that she is monitoring our children, and then creating regulations governing what we feed them? Well, that’s how I spell FASCISM.
If she wants to micromanage her own kids’ meals? Not my concern.
And if people want to voluntarily submit to her tyranny? Well, there’s apparently no law against stupidity.
But I’ll be damned if I let an unelected busybody dictate what my daughter is allowed to eat.
Michelle Obama needs to go back to tending her White House vegetable garden.
Oh, excuse me, Michelle Obama needs to go back to asking Juan and Miguel and Esmerelda to tend her White House vegetable garden. And it might be nice if she forced her own little princesses to eat the crap she’s foisting on our kids.
Fat chance of that. Do as Her Majesty says, not as she does. And of course she gets to eat cake.
As we’ve stated before, this is an issue that we’ve covered thoroughly. Kudos to Kyle Olson at EAGnews.org who is also covering this intrusion by Progressive Liberal Michelle Obama who believes she knows better how and what to feed our children, than we do.
Here in it’s entirety is Kyle Olson’s article:
BALLWIN, Mo. – Students have no problem telling adults exactly what they think of the new “healthy” school lunches championed by First Lady Michelle Obama.
“It’s basically tree bark now,” Parkway West High School senior Stone Ramatowski tells St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “That’s all you can eat.”
Lunch lines used to be “out the door” for sandwiches brought in from fast-food chains like Chick-fil-A or Arby’s, but now with the “healthy” lunches, they’re only a few students deep.
Parkway West has experienced a 20 percent drop in lunch sales since the rules were implemented.
Statewide, Missouri schools have seen a 11 percent decline in sales since the 2009-2010 school year.
Sales in the Fort Zumwalt School District are down by 10 percent since last school year.
“Everybody is looking the same way: Sales are down,” says Paul Becker, nutrition services director for the district and recent president of the Missouri School Nutrition Association.
Fewer sales have a real impact and they could mean fewer work hours for employees, among other things.
“Do we have to look at cutting staff hours? What other ways can we save money on product?” he says, according to the Post-Dispatch.
“The little guys are eating more fruits and vegetables than they were three years ago,” Marlene Pfeiffer, director of food services for the Parkway School District, tells the paper. “It takes a few years to get the palate turned around, and that’s harder for older students.”
While schools are trying to get students’ “palates turned around,” it’s questionable about the success they’ll have when they continue serving lunches like these:
Even though millions of kids and parents across America have rejected it, and countless nutritionists, health care workers and school officials hate it as well, guess what? Good ‘Ole Johnny Boehner has given President Obama everything he wanted, even this crap.
Though school officials, nutritionists, parents, and students have decried First Lady Michelle Obama’s school lunch program, the $1 trillion CRomnibus (part “continuing resolution” and part “omnibus”) does not include relief from the unpopular meals standards after all.
Waiver? They don’t need no steenking waivers!!
Daren Bakst at The Daily Signal notes that the spending bill does not include, as was anticipated, a temporary waiver, so that schools could get some relief from the onerous standards.
As the Associated Press (AP) has reported, school officials have lobbied for a reprieve from the school meal regulations that have required an increase in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, as well as limits on the amounts of sodium, sugar and fat.
And this ill-conceived, short-sighted (read typical Leftist program here) is costing American taxpayers millions of dollars a year.
Breitbart News observed in September that an investigative report in Cincinnati found the First Lady’s school lunch requirements are wasting $4 million a day in food thrown away by children who dislike the meals.
In addition, the same article pointed to a Harvard study of Mrs. Obama’s program that found “60 percent of fresh vegetables and 40 percent of fresh fruit are being thrown away.”
Conservative House members have called this program a huge overreach by Big Government, which is probably what made Boehner fund it, because just like Harry Reid, Johnny Boehner likes his gub’ment BIG.
House Republicans have said the school meals program represents a federal overreach, and a House Agriculture Appropriations bill approved over the summer included waivers for schools that have been losing money on the school meal program. The waivers, however, were only temporary and amounted to a one-year reprieve that would allow schools to opt out of the program if they lost money on meals over a period of six months.
According to the AP, however, Republicans avoided a decision on the waiver over the summer after Mrs. Obama adamantly protested and the White House threatened a veto. Ultimately, the GOP pulled the provision and blamed the move on scheduling issues.
The chairman of the House subcommittee that oversees the school meal appropriations, Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-AL), reportedly was pushing a broad waiver from the First Lady’s school meals in the current spending bill, and Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and John Hoeven (R-ND), said both the House and Senate were negotiating over the idea.
The School Nutrition Association has found serious flaws with Her Majesty’s Lunch Mandates.
Last week, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) released the results of its survey regarding the top concerns about the school meal program. The survey found the majority of school meal program operators nationally “face multiple serious challenges under new federal nutrition standards.”
Additionally, more than half of school meal program operators surveyed anticipate that their program expenses will exceed revenue this school year. Only 18% anticipate their programs will break even, while 29% are unsure if costs will exceed revenue.
According to the survey, “increased food costs” were the number one challenge of the key issues facing school nutrition programs. Other highly ranked issues were “increased plate/food waste,” “sodium requirements” and “decreased lunch participation.”
In short, we have yet another example of a Progressive thinking she knows better how to raise our children than we do.
More than half of the nation’s school cafeteria workers expect to lose money selling low-salt, low-fat meals pushed by first lady Michelle Obama, a “serious” problem that threatens the programs, according to a survey of food providers.
The School Nutrition Association, which is planning to demand changes to the meal requirements to make the food more attractive to students, found that 50.35 percent of cafeteria officials surveyed expect that serving the food will “exceed revenue” next year.
“Of the 92 percent of respondents reporting that rising costs pose a ‘serious’ or ‘moderate’ challenge to their programs, 70 percent indicated ‘serious,’” said the survey from the group that represents 35,000 school nutrition professionals.
Second on the list of concerns in the new survey was food waste, mostly the veggies and fruit now demanded by the federal government under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act promoted by the first lady.
Looks like our elitist, mastermind First Lady just can’t quite get all of America’s kids that, darn it, she knows best!
(WSAW) – Many Marathon middle school students are fed up with their school lunch program and Thursday organized a boycott of the school lunch program to show their disapproval of federal lunch guidelines. In lieu of heading through the lunch line Thursday, students brought packed lunches.
Students at Venture Academy said they’re simply not getting enough to eat during school lunch.
“Lately what I have noticed with our school lunches is probably the portions. They have actually gotten smaller and when I was younger we used to be able to get a lot more food. The younger kids are getting the same amount of food we are, but if we want more we have to pay more money to get double,” explained student Ally Phakitthong.
But Venture Academy isn’t the only school hoping to send a message to the government. Last week, high school student at D.C. Everest did a similar boycott. In October, students in Hartford, Connecticut also boycotted school lunch.
Thursday in Marathon students also signed a letter addressed to First Lady Michelle Obama expressing their concerns about their school lunches.

First lady Michelle Obama has a message to black voters: Don’t worry about what candidates have done or said — just vote for the Democrats.
On TV One, a network operating under the motto “Where Black Life Unfolds,” the first lady told “News One Daily” host Roland Martin, “And that’s my message to voters, this isn’t about Barack, it’s not about person on that ballot — its about you. And for most of the people we are talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on, regardless of who said what or did this — that shouldn’t even come into the equation.”
In the full audio of the interview, Michelle Obama gives everyone who votes permission to eat fried chicken.
Martin asked (at 7:15), “So can we, if we go out to the polls, can we, say, we have a souls to polls on Sunday, can we do soul food after we vote?”
Obama responded, “Absolutely. I give everyone full permission to eat some fried chicken after they vote. Only after, if you haven’t voted… You make a good point. Because I am, I do talk about health. But I think that a good victory for Democrats on Tuesday, you know, should be rewarded with some fried chicken.”
Never mind that black unemployment is higher than the national average.
Never mind that black children are trapped in failing inner city schools.
Just vote for Democrats, then reward yourself with fried chicken. And collard greens. Maybe wash it down with a Colt 45.
And if by some chance you’re a black pastor who dares to wander off the plantation and endorse, gasp!, a Republican? Yeah, you need to die. Because it’s not racism when Michelle Obama uses blatantly racist stereotypes, and it’s not lynching when black Democrats threaten to kill a black man who thinks for himself.
I wonder, does FLOTUS’ dispensation extend to folks in Utah who are voting for Mia Love?
Arguably the most partisan First Lady in our nation’s history, Michelle Obama is on the stump for the upcoming mid-term elections and she is partaking in some revisionist history.
She speaks about for the “first time in history”, “three brilliant women serving on our Supreme Court”, as though there had been no women before Barack Obama, seemingly forgetting it was Ronald Reagan who appointed the first woman, not Barack Obama. Moreover, Justice Ginsburg was appointed by Clinton, not Obama. But let not facts interfere with fantasy-weaving…
First Lady Michelle Obama proudly defended her husband’s record at a Washington, D.C. fundraiser, reminding the attendants how far the country had come since the Obamas entered the White House.
“Just think about how different our country looks to children growing up today,” she said. “Think about how our kids take for granted that a black person or a woman can be President of the United States.”
She also praised President Obama for changing history on gay marriage and the Supreme Court.
“They take it for granted that for the first time in history, there are three brilliant women serving on our Supreme Court,” she said. “They take for granted that their president will end hurtful policies like ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ they’ll speak out for gay marriage.
Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Is Back In! Kids Cheer!
I’m guessing that this has GOT to be Bush’s fault.
Central New York’s Fayetteville-Manlius and Baldwinsville school districts are the latest to ditch the National School Lunch Program, which was revamped in 2010 under the guidance of First Lady Michelle Obama in an effort to fight childhood obesity.
Strict limits on calories, fat, sugar, carbohydrates, sodium and other aspects of the school lunch imposed by the federal government on schools participating in the free and reduced lunch program has not only increased cafeteria costs, they’ve resulted in a drastic drop in the number of participating students.
The students “voted with their feet” by walking out the door to the nearest fast food joint, or by walking in sack lunches.
As a result of last year’s school lunch menu high school lunch sales in Baldwinsville plummeted from about 600 to 430 students per day.
“We all want a lower carb diet. But it’s hard to sell a sub on something that looks more like a piece of paper than a sub roll,” Hamilton said. “I understand the shift but now the students aren’t opting to eat any of that. They’re stepping away entirely.”
Fayetteville-Manlius schools are experiencing the same phenomenon, and took a survey of students before deciding to trash the federal lunch regulations. The survey’s common theme: portion sizes are too small and the food just doesn’t taste that great, WRVO reports.
That district’s new cafeteria plan “will look more like a food court, with more grab and go items along with a deli bar and a hot meal item,” according to the news site.
I guess there’s just no accounting for taste…but we only have to put up with her for a couple more years, or so…
The First Rule of Progressivism, Do What I Say, Not What I Do
It’s that time of year again, back to school, back to homework and trying out for band and chorus and the baseball team and the cheerleading squad – AND school lunches.
This year though, it’s a little different. Our kids aren’t happy with the dogma that’s being forced down their throats from the First Lady, Michelle Obama. Especially given the fact that she shoves all manner of unhealthy food down her own throat…
Note to the first lady: The kids want their Funyuns back.
Some nutritionists and parents are huge backers of Michelle Obama for her three-year crusade against childhood obesity. She has pushed hard to get kids to cut back on sugars and trans fats and exercise more. But some of the kids who have had their Salisbury steaks replaced with asparagus have some less kind things to say about her.
President Obama and Mrs. Obama eat hamburgers and fries
Another thing that is different, is that our kids these days have the ability to fight back and make known their opinions. Kids all across the country have been turning to Twitter to voice their displeasure using the #BringBackOurSnacks.
In an upcoming book about the ‘hidden lives of presidents,’ Ronald Kessler makes some startling revelations.
Secret Service agents rarely speak, but there’s nothing wrong with their hearing.
Agents confessed to Ronald Kessler, author of an upcoming blockbuster book about the hidden lives of presidents, that they have overheard Michelle Obama pushing her husband ‘to be more aggressive in attacking Republicans and to side with blacks in racial controversies.’
And Obama did as he was told, says Kessler in The First Family Detail.
We all remember these stories, many of them were made worse by Obama’s ill-thought out statements.
When Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teenager, was shot dead by a neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida on the night of February 26, 2012.
‘That could have been me thirty-five years ago’, Obama stated.
Obama was also vocal about a Cambridge, Massachusetts police officer who arrested a black Harvard professor being noisy during a break-in investigation. He viewed it as an unnecessary and stupid arrest.
A former agent listening to the first couple’s conversations in the presidential limo, believed Michelle’s agenda goes back to a statement she made when Barack was running for president. ‘For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country’.
On a more positive note, the First Lady is reputed to be friendly and respectful to her Secret Service detail, unlike Hillary Clinton was during her time in the White House. However, this overly friendly attitude is leading to a lax attitude when it comes to basic security measures.
While both Barack and Michelle are well liked and respected by the Secret Service, agents disclosed that laxness and undercutting of basic security protocols in this administration now threaten the life of the President as well as the First Lady.
Lax security has allowed guests into events without proper screening to detect firearms. Current agency protocols are not up-to-date andusing the latest firearms, and they have cut back on the size of counterassault teams.
Agents are also filling out their own test scores on their physical fitness tests as well as not following proper rules for firearm re-qualification.
This imposed cost cutting and lowering of standards first emerged when serial party crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi and Carlos Allen were allowed into a White House state dinner in November 2009 while not on the guest list.
The lapses in security doesn’t stop with guest lists. Secret Service agents have been told to let certain celebrities drive right up to the White House with absolutely no security check whatsoever.
Another major breach of security occurred on the night of the White House Correspondent’s Dinner at the Washington Hilton in April 2013.
While the advance security detail swept the hotel and ground, agents received orders from a high-ranking agency official in New York to allow movie star Bradley Cooper’s vehicle onto the grounds without screening.
Agents were shocked at the breach, knowing that it could have been loaded with explosives, biological or chemical weapons. The canine team was not even allowed to inspect the vehicle.‘
Agents were told not to sweep the car.
Just let it in and don’t give Cooper any problems’.
Cooper was given a free pass – ‘and this was two weeks after the terrorist attack on our soil in Boston’.
‘That’s just one example of the arrogance of senior managers in the Secret Service. They think they’re accountable to no one’.
Good news! The USDA will allow more meats and grains in school lunches following criticisms of parents and lawmakers. To all supporters of our video, thank you for making your voices heard!
Our message needs clarification. We are excited about being offered more healthy fruits and vegetables. We feel the protein and carbohydrate limitations, 10-12 ounces a week, are not enough fuel for our average very active student. Almost all our students have a weights class and compete in sports. We see a problem with a one size fits all program that only is meant to target the overweight student, not the average student as deemed by local governing boards.
A parody on the national school lunch policy mandated by The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which humorously shows the results of the limitations in carbohydrates and proteins. Beware! Remember that Barack said Michelle was off limits…
MUSKEGO, Wis. – There’s growing heartburn over federal school lunch regulations and now school board members are lashing out at First Lady Michelle Obama, the champion of the program overhaul.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports:
“We believe that proper food nutrition and meal portion guidelines are best decided at a local level,” said Rick Petfalski, School Board president for the Muskego-Norway School District.
Opting out of the program means Muskego-Norway will no longer receive federal money for its meals, but it also means the district is free to serve whatever it wants. […]
Under the school lunch program regulations, Petfalski said, the district’s food service was projected to be headed toward a $54,000 deficit. By opting out — and presumably selling more food — he expects about a $7,100 surplus.
“By leaving the program we will not be required to follow these onerous guidelines, pushed by and large by Michelle Obama, who last I checked has been elected by no one,” Petfalski said.
This story comes from Pakistan Today and if I didn’t know Islam to be what it is, I wouldn’t believe it. Maybe this is the Pakistani version of The Onion. CORRECTION AND EDIT: Yes, it is apparently NOT TRUE. I saw it on several reputable websites. My apologies. I’ll leave it here for your amusement, because I have no doubt that if some “Islamic Council” could do this, they would do this. Note that the photo, as I orginially said, is unrelated, but it is still a photo.IT IS NOT TRUE. MY APOLOGIES (minus the photo and the comment under it): The story about child marriages, about half way down, links to “The Express Tribune with the International New York Times.” This is the story of Marvi Memon and child marriages, . I believe this is true. Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani is involved in both stories. He believes Pakistan’s laws “restricting” child marriage are unIslamic. AGAIN: My apologies.
If the young girls in the photo above are not being led in chains to marry, they ARE BEING LED IN CHAINS. Note the difference in size between the ‘chained’ and the big sisters on each side. I wonder if those two have the slightest ache in their heart for these little ones? I wonder if they go on an auction block?
Islamabad – Sharia Correspondent: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) concluded their 192nd meeting on Thursday [convened on March 10, 2014] with the ruling that women are un-Islamic and that their mere existence contradicted Sharia and the will of Allah. As the meeting concluded CII Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani noted that women by existing defied the laws of nature, and to protect Islam and the Sharia women should be forced to stop existing as soon as possible. The announcement comes a couple of days after CII’s 191st meeting where they dubbed laws related to minimum marriage age to be un-Islamic.
After declaring women to be un-Islamic, Shirani explained that there were actually two kinds of women – haraam and makrooh. “We can divide all women in the world into two distinct categories: those who are haraam and those who are makrooh. Now the difference between haraam and makrooh is that the former is categorically forbidden while the latter is really really disliked,” Shirani said.
He further went on to explain how the women around the world can ensure that they get promoted to being makrooh, from just being downright haraam. “Any woman that exercises her will is haraam, absolutely haraam, and is conspiring against Islam and the Ummah, whereas those women who are totally subservient can reach the status of being makrooh. Such is the generosity of our ideology and such is the endeavour of Muslim men like us who are the true torchbearers of gender equality,” the CII chairman added. Read more here, March 15, 2014.
Khan Shirani quoted Article 2, 7 and 227 of Pakistan’s Constitution, along with verses from the Koran and Hadith saying that when a girl attains puberty, [life as a girl is over for her] the sick fun for Muslim men may begin. Pakistan adopted the Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929, which says that a male under 18 and a female under 16 cannot be married-off. A “minor” means a person of either sex who is under 18 years of age. If a male older than 18 marries a “child, he can go to prison for one month and/or be fined “one thousand rupees.” Not much “restraint” in that law.
Marvi Memon is a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. She introduced legislation, along with others, attempting to amend the Council of Islamic Ideology’s (CII) “Act.” She is an attorney and the daughter of a prominent politician, educator and businessman. From what I read in the “Restraint” Act, there is no “restraint” and she and others are fighting a losing battle, but at least they are doing something. Feminists and Liberals in the U.S. could at least speak about it, as conservatives, both men and women do, but they remain silent, including Barack and Michelle Obama who both think Islam is just swell.
Notice the contrast in views between the Creator of the Universe revealed in Genesis and Allah. Our Creator created Adam as male and female. He took one side of His creation, Adam, and formed the first woman by His own Will. This is in sharp contrast to Allah – the existence of women is against the will of Allah. Amazingly enough, there are some who attempt to claim that Allah is the same as the Creator that is expressed in Torah – even though the 2 are in sharp disagreement on so many points.
This type of emotional suffering around the world is incomprehensible, especially for women and children (although boys are routinely abused) — and none of it is the fault of the United States of America.
It would seem that what is good enough for the rest of our children is NOT good enough for the Obama children or for the First Lady herself, it seems.
CNS News decided to dig a little deeper. What exactly are Michelle O’s daughters eating at lunch? Is it in any way comparable to the lunches in our nation’s public schools? Obviously, the answer is no:
In an unusual bought of sanity the GOP actually distanced itself from the Democrats this week.
House Republicans have a new bill that addresses the concerns schools have about the lunch program, such as its cost and restrictiveness. Naturally, the first lady attacked the effort on Tuesday, calling it “unacceptable.” The nation is facing a “health crisis,” she insisted, and “the last thing we can afford to do right now is play politics with kids’ health.”
But not to worry, she’s not letting those pesky Republicans stop her from lecturing us on what and how to eat…
As reported here, over 1 million school kids have vetoed First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Healthy” School Lunch program. And the GOP has drafted legislation to try and remedy this.
First lady Michelle Obama is striking back at House Republicans who are trying to weaken healthier school meal standards, saying any effort to roll back the guidelines is “unacceptable.”
The rules set by Congress and the administration over the last several years require more fruits, vegetables and whole grains in the lunch line and set limits on sodium, sugar and fat. The first lady met Tuesday with school nutrition officials who said the guidelines are working in their schools.
Evidently, she’s gotten her feelings hurt on this one and is royally pissed. That has got to be because the rest of us just don’t live up to the rigorous standards that she sets for herself, right?
I knew that had to be it.
Well anyway, she invited a bunch of school officials to the White House so she could tell them how to save her hide on this. Unfortunately, none of the schools having trouble with her program got invited…
The first lady asked the group for advice about how they can better respond to schools that are struggling, and suggested that the conversation should be focused on helping those schools rather than rolling back some of the standards completely. She said the government and schools can also do more to work with students to get them interested in what they are eating.
The president of the School Nutrition Association said Tuesday that the school officials invited to the White House weren’t representative of those who have concerns.
“Our request for flexibility under the new standards does not come from industry or politics, it comes from thousands of school cafeteria professionals who have shown how these overly prescriptive regulations are hindering their effort to get students to eat healthy school meals,” said SNA’s Leah Schmidt.
The schools pushing for changes say limits on sodium and requirements for more whole grains are particularly challenging, while some school officials say kids are throwing away fruits and vegetables that are required.
Oh well, there’s always the option to take your lunch. Looks like the lunch sack makers’ stock just went up…
Maggie, our newest contributor is doing amazing work following the recent developments in the Benghazi scandal. Here is her latest article:
Once again it is Judicial Watch we have to thank for revealing Benghazi information hidden from the public and even Congress. Even Michelle Obama’s “letter opener” was on the Susan Rice Prep email list. Ben Rhodes, Obama’s “Strategic Communications Director” did communicate, and he did strategically direct the spin on the attacks. See the list of other White House email recipients, numerous very close to Barack Obama along with their positions at that time, a couple connected to Hillary Clinton, one connected to Susan Rice. Through these documents, we also learned that Rice received information, while the attacks were underway on 9-11-12, that Ansar al-Sharia was at the compound.
Ben Rhodes is an Assistant to Obama and Obama’s Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting. “Strategic Communications” fulfilled, America betrayed. Incidentally, Ben Rhodes is the brother of David Rhodes, president of CBS news.

? To convey that the United States is doing everything that we can to protect our people and facilities abroad;
? To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy;
? To show that we will be resolute in bringing people who harm Americans to justice, and standing steadfast through these protests;
? To reinforce the President and Administration’s strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges.
? Since we began to see protests in response to this Internet video, the President has directed the Administration to take a number of steps. His top priority has been the safety and security of all Americans serving abroad.
? First, we have significantly increased security at our diplomatic posts around the globe, with additional resources from across the government. The safety and security of our personnel is paramount and under constant review
? Second, we have reached out to governments in the region to make sure they are cooperating closely with us, and meeting their obligations to protect diplomatic facilities as best they can. For instance, we’ve seen cooperation from Yemen and Egypt cooperate significantly after President Obama called those leaders.
? Third, we’ve made our views on this video crystal clear. The United States government had nothing to do with it. We reject its message and its contents. We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people around the globe hear that message.
? Fourth, we’ve encouraged leaders around the globe to speak out against the violence, and you’ve seen very important statements in the Muslim world by people like Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey, President Morsi of Egypt, and others who have condemned the violence and called for a peaceful response.
? I think that people have come to trust that President Obama provides leadership that is steady and statesmanlike. There are always going to be challenges that emerge around the world, and time and time again he’s shown that we can meet them.
Q: Are you concerned that our relationship with Egypt and other Muslim countries is quickly deteriorating? Is the arab Spring now about hatred of America? Did President Obama lose the Arab World?
I think we need to step back a bit. The Arab Spring was about people across the region rising up to demand their basic rights. The protests we’ve seen these last few days were sparked by a disgusting and reprehensible video.
The fact is, this is a time of extraordinary change in the Arab World. But we’ve been able to build cooperative relationships with these new governments.
You saw that in Libya, where there’s been full cooperation with the United States and an outpouring of support for Chris Stevens and the work that he did.
You saw that in Egypt, where President Obama was able to call President Morsi directly, which led to the Egyptians calling for calm and providing much more security at our Embassy.
So this part of the world has been faced with unrest many times in recent decade. But we’re going to keep moving forward, and we believe that strong U.S. leadership can lead to a region that is more stable and more responsive to the people.
Q: Have you failed to articulate a policy for dealing with the Arab Spring?
You have heard the President articulate a very consistent set of principles and support for universal rights as the arab Spring has unfolded. We support the process of nonviolent political and economic change and reform in the region. Of course, that process will look different in different countries.
There are countries where that transition has occurred, like Egypt, Yemen and Tunisia, and we’re working to help them consolidate their democracies, deal with security needs, and stabilize their economies.
In other places like Syria that are still in throes of revolution, we have opposed the brutality of the regime and are supporting the aspirations of the people.
While this process unfolds, this President has left no doubt that he will continue to protect our other interests — destroying al Qaeda, bringing our men and women in uniform home from Afghanistan, and strengthening our leadership in the world.
But the arab Spring is going to take time to play out. This is an enormous change. And that is why we need to stay focused and firm on behalf of our principles, as the President has done.
Q: What’s your response to the Independent story that says we have intelligence 48 hours in advance of the Benghazi attack that was ignored? Was this an intelligence failure?
We are not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent. The currently available information suggests that the demonstrations in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the US Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the US Consulate and subsequently its annex.
Q: Can you explain to us again the President’s comment about why Egypt was not an ally?
Egypt is a critical partner of the United States. As you know, the President had an important conversation with President Morsi about the need to protect our embassy and personnel in Cairo, and the need to denounce the violence.
President Morsi expressed his condolences for the tragic loss of American life in Libya and emphasized that Egypt would honor its obligation to ensure the safety of American personnel. The President is very appreciative for the statement President Morsi made and for the actions he’s taken to date to secure our Embassy.
This was not an effort to change our relationship with Egypt in any way. We have had a long-standing partnership with Egypt, and have supported their transition to democracy. We are now working to build our relationship with what is obviously a new government.
If Pressed: I’m not here to get into a long exchange about diplomatic terminology. The President has made it clear that Egypt is a close partner of the United States, and that we have expectations tha the Egyptian government will meet its obligations to protect our facilities.
Q: Romney’s adivsor said that these protests wouldn’t have happened under President Romney?
Well, I’m not here to talk politics. Events abroad are unpredictable. Foreign policy challenges emerge no matter who is President. And I think that people have come to expect steady, statesmanlike leadership from this President on national security, and his response to these protests is no different.
The following appears to be a message/email/letter/whatever to then Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, and is dated April 17, 2014 showing Case No. F-2012-38774, Doc No. C05415286 — note that part of the first line is unreadable and that prior to the first line I can see, a message of the same size of the below is redacted. (Page 21)
HPSCI [House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence] request: Late this week, CIA Director Petraeus gave me [____] a [hots spots?] briefing and was asked for unclassified talking points that its members could use about incident in Benghazi. (Apparently NCTC [National Counter Terrorism Center] Director Matt Olson received a similar committee from a congressional committee.) The first draft apparently seemed unsuitable (based on conversations on the SVTS [Secure Video-Teleconference Service] and afterwards) because they seemed to encourage the reader to infer incorrectly that the CIA had warned about a specific attack on our embassy. On the SVTS, Morell noted that these points were not good and he had taken a heavy editing hand to them. He noted that he would be happy to work with Jake Sullivanand Rhodes to develop appropriate talking points. McDonough, on Rhodes’s behalf, deferred to Sullivan. It was agreed that Jake would work closely with the intelligence community (within a small group) to finalize points on Saturday that could be shared with HPSCI. I spoke to Jake immediately after the SVTS and noted that you were doing the Sunday morning shows and would need to aware of the final posture that these points took. He committed to ensure that we are updated in advance of the Sunday shows. I specifically mentioned Erin Pelton as the one coordinating your preparations for the shows and also strongly encouraged him to loop in Rexon during the process.
Connected to Hillary Clinton
• Jake Sullivan: At the time of the Benghazi attacks, Jake Sullivan was Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff and Director of Policy and Planning.
• Uzra S. Zeya: Not a recipient of the emails above but I do see her name on page 42, and others, seemingly at a time when the attacks were going on. Uzra was Deputy executive secretary to Hillary Clinton (also to Condoleeza Rice). She is a staff member of the American Educational Trust specializing in Islamic affairs. She produced a video about a pretty blonde California girl who converted to Islam, never leaves her home without being propertly covered (Uzra is not properly covered) and the blonde California girl runs a school for Muslim children. Most importantly, she served as on Hillary’s handpicked Benghazi Accountability Review Board (ARB) under the Clinton’s good friend Thomas Pickering. The ARB conducted the “review” without interviewing Hillary or her staff.
Connected to Susan Rice
• Erin Pelton: In July 20, 2012, 52 days before the attacks on our Benghazi compound, U.S. Ambassador the the U.N., Susan Rice, announced Erin Pelton would be the new spokeswoman for the US Mission to the United Nations. She worked for Susan Rice.
Connected to Barack Obama (and one of them, to Michelle Obama)
• Dag Vega is the director of broadcast media for the White House. Documents obtained by Judicial Watch in 2011 showed that he encouraged government entities to “skip Fox please.” It’s called manipulating the news. It’s called getting Obama through the November 2012 elections and back to the Oval Office.
• Jennifer Palmieri is assistant to Obama and director of communications.
• Dan Pfeiffer on 9/11/12 was White House Director of Communications. Today he is “Senior Advisor to the President.”
The National School Lunch Program saw a sharp decline in participation once the healthy standards went into effect during the 2012-2013 school year. A total of 1,086,000 students stopped buying school lunch, after participation had increased steadily for nearly a decade.
The report found that 321 districts left the National School Lunch Program altogether, many of which cited the new standards as a factor.
The decline was “influenced by changes made to comply with the new lunch content and nutrition standards,” state and local officials said.
Though the USDA has claimed the standards were “proving popular,” the GAO report cited numerous cases where kids are unhappy with their new menus.
The standards forced some schools to stop serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and led middle school and high school students to opt for vending machines or buying food off campus to avoid the lunch line.
For once, the failure is so bad that Conservative goals have been met. There are less kids eating a school lunch today. Of course, that is due to school lunches “tasting like vomit.” But a win in a win, right?
