[...] Hysteria and frenzy are clearly the way the politicians and media elites think we should deal with tragedy. These media worthies might better spend their tears and lamentations over the reckless coverage of the tragedy, when speculation, supposition and make-believe were presented as fact. Errors included the wrong number of the dead, the false identification of the shooter, the wrong guns identified, and the way the shooter was dressed. Tragedy was compounded by media ghouls who descended on surviving children and parents, stuffing microphones the size of beer cans in their faces to ask, “how did it feel?” (When [...]
Politicians
The consequences of electing leaders with little or no virtue
Samuel Adams once said, “If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.” Now more than ever these powerful words ring true. In the aftermath of the first Presidential debate we see the works of these vain and aspiring politicians. We now see how far they will go to hang on to power. After the President’s terrible debate performance Obama shifted his strategy to lying about Mitt Romney’s position on the issues. He had to because Romney not [...]
Are Washington Leaders Ruining the Economy on Purpose or Are They Just Plain Ignorant?
Government officials in Washington would have you believe that the economic decisions they are making are in the best interest of the public and that chief economic advisors agree they are doing the right thing. These officials would have you believe that running a country (economically speaking – macroeconomics) is vastly different than running your small business or your individual budget (microeconomics). This is what they want you to believe, but in reality they are wrong. Whether you are running a household, a business or a country, certain firm concrete realities exist. The biggest one of those is: if you [...]
Of the People
Capitalism isn’t simply a philosophy based on the way numbers trend, how to gain leverage, make money, or use debt as a resource. Much of the philosophy of capitalism is based on the human element. Without human nature, capitalism holds little water and socialism would do far better. Within the philosophy is the idea that businesses will put their money wherever they are most apt to grow it. Last month I wrote a couple of pieces that challenged the mindset of you (and me). I basically said that our representatives are failures not because the offices are broken, but because [...]
Obama: Using the “N” word?
Probably! He definitely uses the “T” word and he says it in the same way some bigots might use the “N” word. He loves to use “Tea Bagger”. To most in the liberal press, the administration, and the Congress the “T” word means “Bigoted White People”. Let’s look at the “N” word for a moment. The “N” word evolved from various origins and generally means black in all of its variations. So offensive is the “N” word that English speakers feel uncomfortable learning Portuguese, Spanish, French, Swedish, German and Latin for a form of Negro appears in all these languages. [...]
"Please. Do go on!"
Today I received a wonderful invitation from my Congressman, Russ Carnahan. He wants me to attend a “telephone town-hall”. Hah! Get outta here. What the hell is a “telephone town-hall”? The best I can tell it is just another way to keep me as a nameless no count, some kind of virtual meeting where I “virtually” don’t matter. Sure Russ. I would love to sit on hold while you talk down to me yet again of your freakish liberal agenda. The last time this jerk was in town Kenneth Gladney got mugged by SEIU members outside Russ’s town hall. He [...]
