Remember when the President Obama told us that if we liked our doctors, we could keep them?  Well, we now know that this was a lie.  However, the extent of how big a lie it was is up for debate.  However, it seems that at least in California, is a 70% lie, as that is how many doctors are refusing to participate in ObamaCare plans…

This isn’t some far right wing think tank that’s making this claim. It’s the largest medical association in California:

An estimated seven out of every 10 physicians in deep-blue California are rebelling against the state’s Obamacare health insurance exchange and won’t participate, the head of the state’s largest medical association said.

“It doesn’t surprise me that there’s a high rate of nonparticipation,” said Dr. Richard Thorp, president of the California Medical Association.

Me either.

“We need some recognition that we’re doing a service to the community. But we can’t do it for free. And we can’t do it at a loss. No other business would do that,” he said.

California offers one of the lowest government reimbursement rates in the country — 30 percent lower than federal Medicare payments. And reimbursement rates for some procedures are even lower.

In other states, Medicare pays doctors $76 for return-office visits. But in California, Medicare’s reimbursement is $24, according to Dr. Theodore M. Mazer, a San Diego ear, nose and throat doctor.

In other states, doctors receive between $500 to $700 to perform a tonsillectomy. In California, they get $160, Mazer added.

Get over to All American Blogger, and read the rest.

In reality, this shows, once again, that the true purpose of ObamaCare is to create a crisis in the healthcare industry. And, of course, when the government causes a problem, more government always solves it, right?

I’ve covered the SEIU many times.  Beside having a big affinity for communism, the SEIU has an alleged history of sabotaging workplaces to get what they want.  Allegedly, even nursing home care…

Well, another union, the SEIU, has been accused of sabotaging patient care at nursing homes.  Big Government has more…

Union workers at Connecticut nursing homes represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are alleged to have vandalized and sabotaged assisted living facilities in Connecticut — including those that care for Alzheimer’s patients — during a mass walkout earlier this month.

HealthBridge, which owns the nursing homes, is calling for a criminal probe after union workers allegedly tampered with medication records, removed patient identification bands and even switched the ID bands of various Alzheimer’s patients after union workers voted to stage a walkout because they were unhappy with the progress of labor negotiations between the union and HealthBridge.

I think it’s right to call for a criminal probe.  Medical ID’s are linked to the medications that the patient in question.  If the medications get mixed up, there can be serious consequences, including death.

Fast forward to now, and we see that  at least one SEIU goon is suggesting that McDonald’s workers might tamper with food unless their pay is raised to $15 an hour.

So, it looks like the SEIU  is dead set on killing off more jobs, and holding consumer ransom to their unreasonable demands.  But, at least the union bosses will get more money to use to buy Democrat politicians!

NOTE:  It is unknown as to whether or not the SEIU is seeking to “represent” the McDonald’s workers, or that the man wearing the SEIU shirt was an official representative of the union.  It does, however, display an attitude common to union members.

Did Union Thugs Destroy a Church?

union thug

Apparently, even God isn’t above the reach of union thugs.  Here’s the background.  Quakers (not the Oatmeal folks, the actual religion) needed a new “meeting house” (their place of worship=church).  However, they decided to go with non-union labor.  That’s when things, shall we say, got interesting.  Philly .com,  via Weasel Zippers has more…

As agonizing as the process was, the result is a trim little design, faced in traditional Wissahickon schist, that will visibly reflect the ideals Quakers hold dear, from respect for the environment to plain old good neighborliness. And yet, in one crucial way, the $5.8 million project now under construction is also a frank acknowledgment of real-world conditions: To afford Philadelphia’s first new Quaker meetinghouse in 80 years, the Chestnut Hill Friends felt their only option was to employ a nonunion contractor.

And now they are paying the price.

Four days before Christmas, the Friends’ world was rocked by the sort of violence they have devoted their lives to stamping out.

Vandals with an acetylene torch crept onto the project’s muddy construction site in the middle of the night. Working out of view in the meetinghouse’s freshly cemented basement, they sliced off dozens of bolts securing the bare steel columns and set fire to the building crane, causing $500,000 in damage.

Police detectives deemed the attack arson because of a series of confrontational visits from union officials days before the incident. They say the torch could only have been operated by a trained professional, and believe it was almost certainly the work of disgruntled union members. The city has assigned extra investigators to the case and is working with federal forensic experts to track down the vandals, said Michael Resnick, the city’s public safety commissioner.

If this turns out to be true, it would be yet another example of the terror tactics used by unions.  If someone steps outside of the union influence, they must be punished.  And, it doesn’t appear that they even respect God.  It must be good to be a union boss.  Great pay, lots of perks, millions of workers that are forced to pay tribute to you, and you even get to attack God.

No wonder union bosses think so highly of themselves.

That’s a Nice Granny You Have There, be a Shame if Something Were to Happen to Her: SEIU Accused of Sabotaging Nursing Home Care

Last year, we covered the Verizon strike, when company equipment would mysteriously get broken, and fiber-optic cables would spontaneously cut themselves.  Of course, the union said they didn’t do it, but then again, fiber-optic cables always spontaneously cut themselves, right?

Before the union decided to strike, David Pickus, the president of the chapter, spoke about how inhumane HealthBridge officials were.

“By their outrageous, inhumane and unlawful actions, HealthBridge has given workers no other alternative,” Pickus said after the vote to strike, according to FoxNews.com. “This is yet another instance of the wealthy 1 percent waging war on the 99 percent of us who work for a living.”

Sir, if these allegations are true, does it mean that the elderly are to abused to strike back at the mythical 1%?

I guess the mythical 99% do not include elderly people.

The Department of Labor: Family traditions turned upside down

I was fortunate to grow up in the country.  My first paying job was working on a farm. From the time I was 14 until 16 years of age, I spent my summers rotating around the local area between three separate farms working for a couple of dollars an hour haying.  I was taught at a very young age that work meant something.  It was what men did to provide for their families.  Work was so important to my grandfather that his dying wish was when he passed on he would be wearing his work boots.   He believed that hard work was the foundation success was built on.   When I turned 16 I was hired to work on a township road crew; however I continued to work on part-time basis helping a local farmer until I graduated from high school.  I look back on those years with a deep appreciation for everything I learned about work and about life.

One of the farms I worked on was my uncle’s farm.  It was a small family farm two houses down the road from our house.  During the summer months it was always an all hands on deck family event when it was time to hay.  I worked side by side with my cousins loading 70 pound small round bales of hay on a wagon, unloading them and storing it in the haymow.  It was hard work done in 80 plus degree weather.  I spent most of my time working in a haymow that was easily 10 degrees higher than the outside temperature.  At the end of the day we would chug down about a gallon of unsweetened ice tea as a strong sense of accomplishment washed over us.  When the work was done and all the hay was stored away in the haymow it was time to play.  We never once felt like we were being abused or we were working in some kind of sweat shop.  We understood the dangers of working around moving equipment and always had a healthy respect for it.  We worked together as a family unit to accomplish a goal because that’s what families did.  We felt as if we were part of something special.  We learned at a young age about the importance of hard work and achieving success.  I acquired skills working around the farm that I still use to this day.  The truth is I was blessed to have this opportunity because so many kids never had a chance to experience the natural high you get after completing a hard day’s work.  Now the Department of Labor is telling us this was a bad thing.

Most of you have heard how the Department of Labor is proposing a regulation that will prevent kids who grow up on farms from basically doing all things my cousins and I did working on a farm.  These masterminds in Washington D.C. believe that somehow a child doing chores on a family farm equates to a violation of child labor laws.  This wonderful family farm tradition is now being demonized by an unfeeling bureaucratic system that cares more about how something is done than what is actually getting done.   We’re supposed to ignore the fact that this is how family farms have operated in America since before our independence.  Now some D.C. bureaucrat is saying we’ve been wrong all along and that these children should not be subjected to these working conditions.  They want to crack down on these sweatshops.   Not only does this open another door for the government to replace the parent, but it also takes away the opportunity for our young people to learn a valuable skill at a very young age.  Can someone please tell me where in the constitution it authorizes some government official the power to usurp the rights of the parent?  Once again there is no provision in the constitution that permits this because the constitution is a document designed to RESTRAIN the federal government from doing exactly this.

Below is a video of Senator Jerry Moran discussing this issue on Fox News.

This is what happens in an America when the constitution is ignored by unelected bureaucrats who could care less about our rights.  It turns our traditions and history as a nation on its head and forces us to live in an America that’s upside down.  It was in 2008 when Michelle Obama said we would need to change our traditions and history.  Welcome to Obama’s America.  This is just another attempt to fundamentally change who we are as a people and we must stop it.  The more we allow these elected or unelected bureaucrats to regulate every aspect of our lives the more we lose as a people and as a nation.  The more we become enslaved.

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

Longshore Union Fined $250,000 by Judge for Sabotage, Longshoremen Promising More of the Same

It would seem that a recent trend in union thug activities is to disregard court orders.  Several weeks ago, we covered that a local teacher’s union was blatantly defying a court order by refusing to return to work.  Now, we revisit the longshoreman in the Port of Longview.  Due to their acts of vandalism and sabotage, they have been fined by a judge-to the tune of a quarter or a million dollars…

The bad news, of course: It’ll come out of rank-and-file workers’ dues while fat cat Big Labor thugs back in Washington sit clean and pretty in their Taj Mahal headquarters.

KOMO News/AP reports (h/t Steve G.):

A federal judge has fined a Longshore union $250,000 for its tactics in a Longview labor dispute.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton said Friday he needed to take action in an effort to stop what he called an “awful” situation.

He has held the International Longshore and Warehouse Union in contempt for blocking a train earlier this month and a protest at a grain terminal that caused damages.

The National Labor Relations Board had asked court to fine the union more than $290,000 to cover damages and other expenses. Leighton says he rounded down to be cautious and ordered additional penalties for future violations.

This video features the response of the Longshoremen…

So, they just were fined $250,000 for being thugs, and their response is to promise more of the same?  For me, this is very consistent with their other activities.  They claim to represent “democracy,” except when it comes to people freely and secretly voting on union representation.  They have no problems going to court to get their way, yet conveniently fail to follow orders that impede their activities.  They claim to represent workers and their families, yet have seen tens of thousands of their members put out of work by either their activities, or the policies of the politicians that they support.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t feel very comfortable if I had been forced to join a union.

Verizon Strike Update 8-18-11: More Vandalism, and "That's a Nice School Board Meeting You Have Here-be a Shame if Something Were to Happen to it"

As the strike against Verizon drags on, we’re getting a great lesson on union tactics.  Unlike the past, the unions cannot count on the press to cover for them, and still not be exposed.  With the alternative media, there are always ways to get the word out.

And for todays updates, we have  more vandalism, and a school board meeting to disrupt.

Vandalism Disrupts Service for Verizon customers in Virginia

In one case, the acts disrupted Verizon’s local FIOS service to about 100 customers.

According to local media reports, two cables were cut on Coalfield Road in the town of Midlothian, which is near Richmond.

In another incident, cables were cut on Deerfield Drive. Also, nails were placed behind the rear tire of a Verizon company on Hancocks Quarter Lane. However, the vehicle was not damaged.

Also, someone has cut the fence in the back of a Verizon property in the 700 block of West Hundred Road, although nothing was reported stolen.

The union is denying that they had anything to do with this sabotage, blaming it instead on poorly trained replacement workers.

Striking Verizon Workers Disrupt NYC School Board Meeting

Striking workers from Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) showed up at monthly meeting of the New York City school board Wednesday night to protest a $120-million contract the Department of Education approved with Verizon.

(The school system’s Panel for Education Policy agreed to allow Verizon provide data services to the Department.)

Technicians from the Communication Workers of America (CWA), who have been on strike against the telecom giant for almost two weeks, loudly decried the deal.

The demonstration was held at Murry Bergtraum High School – which is ironically located across the street from Verizon’s principal headquarters in lower Manhattan.

Hundreds of protesters jeered panel members inside the school auditorium.

While the union is suggesting that a vote on this contract be delayed until the labor dispute is finalized.  However, while that might actually be a reasonable request, it is the unions tactics that I question.  For a group that loves to throw around the term, “democracy,” they seem to disrupt votes that might go against them.  We saw that in Wisconsin earlier this year.  And, for a group that claims to support “democracy,”  they certainly want to eliminate the secret ballot for union elections.

Isn’t that interesting?

Quick Hits: More Alleged Union Thuggery in Verizon Strike

Well, it seems that the workers striking against Verizon have been, allegedly, engaging in standard union activities.  Here are some lowlights…

Sabotage Impacts First Responders:

It’s been less than 24 hours since the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) called 45,000 of their respective members out on strike against Verizon and, already, there are reports of sabotage of Verizon equipment, as well as illegal picketing.According to a Verizon press release on Monday, there has been:

  • Ten incidents of fiber-optic lines being deliberately cut in the Bronx, Pomona, Farmingdale and Guilderland in New York; two separate incidents in Tewksbury in Massachusetts; incidents in Bel Air in Maryland, and East Dover, Oakland and Plainfield in New Jersey.
  • An outage due to stolen electronic equipment in Cedar Grove, N.J., affecting a local police department, among other customers.
  • An incident due to tampering with a heating system at a central office in Manhattan.

Also, this is apparently not the first time that striking Verizon workers have allegedly resorted to sabotage…

In the 2000 strike, there were at least 455 incidents of sabotage, vandalism and harassment reported–including the near-electrocution of two Verizon strikers who mistakenly cut through a 13,000-volt power cable they thought was a phone line.

If you recall, I covered the union “professors” that talked in class about sabotage, and then denied it.  I wonder what they would say about this?

Union Bosses Warn Against Posting Videos:

This one is hilarious.  Apparently, the union bosses have decided that posting videos of pickets and other typical union tactics is a bad idea…

Nobody should be posting video on either facebook, youtube, or any other website of mobile picketing, or picket line activity. These videos could be used against us. Do not email or text them neither! Chris Calabrese. If you would like a video posted email it to me, and I will review it, make sure it is clean and then post.

Why could videos of  “peaceful union activity” be used against the unions?  I mean, the Tea Parties freely posted videos with no controls.  The only videos that were embarrassing were the ones of infiltrators, or ones selectively edited by Think Regress, or MSNBC.  I guess that typical union activity is damaging to the unions, particularly if millions of people can see them.

Union Thugs Allegedly Lock Non-Union Workers in Office:

PITTSBURGH — Verizon employees looking to make a statement while on strike used chains and locks to prevent replacement workers from leaving a company office in Dormont on Wednesday.

Local police and fire crews had to be called to remove the bolts from the facility on Pioneer Avenue.

Verizon released the following statement Wednesday:

“Some union picketers put up chains and locks across and exits of the parking lot of a Verizon facility in Dormont today, prohibiting the workers there from leaving in their cars. The Dormont police were called, and the fire department removed the chains and locks. This act is a direct violation of a court injunction prohibiting illegal blocking of Verizon facilities and those responsible are subject to legal action on the part of law enforcement authorities.”

Earlier in the day, Verizon filed for and was granted a court injunction Wednesday, after striking workers blocked the entrance to the company’s Pittsburgh headquarters.

So folks, is this how people are supposed to behave?  Are any of these tactics the slightest bit ethical?  Or are these the acts of thugs that will used intimidation, vandalism, and violence to get what they want?  This blog, and hundreds of others will show you the evidence.

Welcome to the alternative media, Verizon workers!  Hope you enjoy the exposure!

Latest Twist to Leftist Narrative: Republicans Sabotaging the Economy

We talk about the left’s tendency to project a great deal here at the CH 2.0.  And now, we see more proof that the left always accuses the Conservatives of they are doing themselves.

During the course of this past week, the accusation has been raise that the GOP is somehow sabotaging the economy to improve their hopes for 2012.  This started with some Dem congressmen, and was quickly picked up by the MSM, and other lefty outlets.

I have to admit it, as a Conservative, we’re interested in causing misery so we can win in 2012.  And, in the interest in honesty, I’ll tell everyone how we’re doing it.

1.  We passed a health care law, so we could see what was in it.  Then, we found out that there was billions of dollars in expenses for businesses.  That way, they’ll hire less people. Unemployed people are very unhappy.

2.  We passed new regulations-LOTS of them.  They don’t make sense, and make doing business more expensive.  Again, that will lead to less hiring.

3.  We engage in anti-business rhetoric, so businesses will fear us and what we will do to them next.  That’s a great climate to stop growth.

4.  We keep empowering the unions, and float the idea of card check.  That way, a business will not know how much  employees will cost.

5.  We buy up own own debt, causing inflation.  That will cause a great deal of misery on which to capitlaize in 2012.

6.  We have a highly restrictive energy policy.  We crippled oil production in the gulf.  We’re shuttering some power plants, so we can make electricity bills “skyrocket.”  Combine that with the high price of gas, and that will cause a ton of sabotage for 2012.

You see, my Conservative friends, I simply couldn’t keep the secret anymore.  The economy is being sabotaged, and the story must be told.  We did it, and we will continue to do so until we win in 2012.

All right, sarcasm aside.  The lies from the lefties continue to escalate, and they will until election day.  The GOP has had no power at all  until this January, and if anything, they have only been able to slow down team Obama.  If anything, what they have proposed so far would slow down the damage caused by the current administration.

However, the Democrats know that they are in for it in 2012.  So, they have to preemptively attack the Republicans, and accuse the GOP of what the Democrats have done.  As it unfolds, it will only prove that there are no depths deep enough for the Democrats.  To achieve and maintain power, no lie is too big.

Glenn Beck Exposes Leftist Plans: Collapse the Economy to Take Power

We’ve talked about Cloward-Piven many times before.  In essence, the Cloward-Piven strategy is meant to undermine and overwhelm a system, or systems, and bring them to a state of collapse.  Then, as the idea goes, the resulting crisis creates an opportunity for “change.”  And, for our left, this “change” will necessarily consist of tyranny.  For some striking evidence of a current Cloward-Piven type plan, take a look at this video from The Blaze.

For our leftists, it isn’t a matter of which system is better, it only matters that the dominant system is not theirs.  And since Marxist states cannot compete with free ones, their only solution is to undermine and destroy the free one.  Such is the underhandedness and deceit that is the left.  They cannot compete in the “free market,” so they will destroy the market.  This is more than the kid that takes his ball and goes home – this is the kid that stabs the ball with a knife so no one can ever play again.

This, my friends, is the left.  Call them Marxists, Fascists, “Progressives,” or whatever label you wish to apply, the result is the same.  These are dishonest, unethical, devious, and reprobate humans that will not rest until they enslave us all.

Labor Union Sabotages Blizzard Cleanup? A New Born Dies

We’ve covered many activities of organized labor; the violence, intimidation, general thuggery, and so on.  Now, there are reports that sanitation workers in NYC intentionally delayed the cleanup efforts during the recent blizzard (global warming-sorry, couldn’t resist!).  Here are the details from the NY Post…

“They sent a message to the rest of the city that these particular labor issues are more important,” said City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens), who was visited yesterday by a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers who confessed the shameless plot.

Halloran said he met with three plow workers from the Sanitation Department — and two Department of Transportation supervisors who were on loan — at his office after he was flooded with irate calls from constituents.

The snitches “didn’t want to be identified because they were afraid of retaliation,” Halloran said. “They were told [by supervisors] to take off routes [and] not do the plowing of some of the major arteries in a timely manner. They were told to make the mayor pay for the layoffs, the reductions in rank for the supervisors, shrinking the rolls of the rank-and-file.”

There are many allegations, such as leaving the plow blade too high, so the streets would have to be plowed again and again.  Others include intentionally smashing equipment, and otherwise being inactive during a critical emergency.  Of course, as the article states, the union bosses are denying this, but if the claims are true,  there will be legal ramifications…

MYFOXNY.COM – A Queens woman who was having trouble breathing and a baby born in a apartment building lobby reportedly died after emergency crews had difficulty reaching them due to snow-covered streets. The 75-year-old woman’s daughter and neighbors called 911 for 20 minutes on Monday, according to the NY Daily News. After finally getting through, they allegedly waited three hours for EMS to arrive at their home in Corona. The woman had died. Her daughter, Laura Freeman, told the paper that EMS workers did all they could to reach her mother.

State Senator Jose Peralta (D-East Elmhurst) is demanding an inquiry into the woman’s death.

“The city must immediately determine whether the death of Yvonne Freeman can be attributed to the impact the snowstorm had on the city’s ability to respond to emergencies–from an overburdened 911 system to unplowed streets impeding timely movement of emergency vehicles and lifesaving equipment,” said Peralta.

Meanwhile, a baby born inside a lobby in Crown Heights on Monday to a 22-year-old woman died after a 911 call was made nine hours earlier.

So, if the allegations are true, the union runs the risk, at the very least, of having massive civil liability.  There is also the possibility, if the investigations show this to be true, that criminal charges could be filed.

I have to be honest, I can’t see there being a true and thorough investigation here, but it will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

Note on post image: It is not known if the SEIU is part of this situation.
