Our regressive “friends” often say that institutions need to change to adapt to the prevailing social situation.  In other words, they are supposed to abandon God, who does not change, to ride on the rising and falling waves of social convention.  After all, they can claim to be diverse and inclusive!

Of course, there is a downside to that.  Alexander Griswold, writing at The Federalist, has some examples.

The Episcopal Church

In 2003, Gene Robinson became the first openly gay, noncelibate man to be consecrated as a bishop of the Episcopal Church. In the wake of his consecration, entire dioceses severed ties with the Episcopal Church, eventually creating the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). But the Episcopal Church continued to liberalize its sexual teachings, lifting a moratorium on any more gay bishops in 2006 and creating a “blessing ceremony” for gay couples in 2009.

In 2002, the number of baptized U.S. members of the Episcopal Church stood at 2.32 million. By 2012, that number had fallen to 1.89 million, a decline of 18.4 percent. Meanwhile, attendance has fallen even more steeply. Average Sunday attendance in its U.S. churches was 846,000 in 2002, but had fallen 24.4 percent by 2012 to only 640,000. Other signs of congregational liveliness have fallen even further. Baptisms have fallen by 39.6 percent, and marriages have fallen by 44.9 percent.

As for the ACNA? It’s seen its membership rise by 13 percent and its Sunday attendance rise by 16 percent in the past five years. Since 2009, the ACNA has planted 488 new congregations. In 2012, the entire Episcopal Church managed to plant four new churches.

The United Church of Christ

The United Church of Christ (UCC) has long had a reputation for unfettered liberalism, sometimes bordering on the radical. In 2008, for example, the pastor of the largest UCC congregations in the country was one Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The UCC’s tendency for pushing traditional boundaries has led to unquestionably positive developments (such as the first African-American pastor as early as 1785) and the unquestionably silly (such as the first hymnal that refuses to call Jesus male). Needless to say, in 2005 UCC became the first U.S. mainline Protestant denomination to support same-sex marriage, and has been an outspoken voice in the gay marriage debate ever since.

While UCC has been bleeding members for decades, its decline rapidly accelerated after the gay marriage vote. Since 2005, UCC has lost 250,000 members, a decline of 20.4 percent over seven years. While an average of 39 congregations left UCC annually from 1990 to 2004, more than 350 congregations departed in the following three years. The UCC’s own pension board called the 2000’s decline “the worst decade among 25 reporting Protestant denominations,” and admitted that “…the rate of decline is accelerating.”

2013 marked a particularly grim milestone for the denomination, as membership finally fell below one million. If the post-2005 rate in membership losses doesn’t taper out, the denomination will cease to exist in 30 years.

There are more examples.  And, he also notes increases among many more traditional denominations.  It’s a good article, and well worth the time to read it in it’s entirely.

It seems that embracing Satan is a poor “business model” for liberal churches.

In Nancy Pelosi’s Bible, Satan Wins!

Nancy Pelosi sure has some rather odd things to say.  Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but based on Pelosi’s comments, I have to wonder whose side she is really on.  Actually, I have no doubt!  I caught this over at the Independent Sentinel…

She invents Bible verses too. She said this but it’s nowhere to be found in the Bible.

“The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children’s children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature.”

Last week, she declared government is god, beginning with her belief that government isn’t growing too big.

She said this of Obamacare:

It will not only do that, it will cut our investments in the future: in education, in biomedical research – the National Institutes of Health has the biblical power to cure.

She is a huge supporter of abortion and said this not so long ago, “As a mother of five children…as a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this.” She then went on to talk about the need to protect abortion.

She actually invoked her Catholic faith to promote abortion.

I’ll let you decided about the authorship of Pelosi’s “bible.”  However, mine doesn’t quite mean the same thing.

#FreeKate Update: Announcement from Lawyer and Statements of Supporters Give Insight Into #FreeKate Mindset

Alleged Sex Offender Kaitlyn Hunt in Court

It’s been an interesting day on the #FreeKate front.   The Hunt’s Lawyer, Julia Graves, released a statement.  Here it is…

The actions in filing a detailed Notice of Violation of Pretrial Conditions such as the one filed in this case is almost a crime in and of itself. Of course this is my opinion as her counsel and as a parent. I fully understand what the law is. I do not know who is managing the case at this point as I receive a plea offer from Mr. Workman on Friday August 9th after 3:00 pm with no deadline to accept and a request to respond in writing for post conviction purposes one way or another. We quietly kept this to ourselves and were in the process of discussing the plea that takes time to answer all questions and fully understand the consequences. The last thing any attorney wants is a client entering a plea quickly without being fully informed. We have had motions scheduled on August 14th since June and we attended to take care of the closure of the courtroom motion by the State and a few deposition and address issues regarding witnesses. There was nothing out of the ordinary, other than it was made known a copy of the plea offer had been given to the media. Obviously until a case is settled and pled to it is imperative to still continue to prepare as though you are going to trial.

The next morning while I was in a motion hearing with another judge and client, the Notice of Violation of Pretrial Conditions is filed. The State did not get that much information that day as I received a copy to my office at 9:43 am. I only had seen it ten minutes before it was published on TCPalm. Prosecutors do have ethical obligations.

I practice Family Law as well as Criminal. One important aspect to always remember and stress to the client is “this is a public record”. What you file in a motion or petition is out there for the world to view or your children to look at later. Always be mindful of “airing your dirty laundry in public”.

I have made every effort to keep the alleged victim out of the public eye. I have not taken her depositions and do not plan to until the very last. While I feel what has happened in the past few months is an abomination to the alleged victim, I advocate for Kaitlyn. In advocating for her, that sometimes calls for taking measures that are not pleasant in asking questions.

If this matter had been considered properly in the beginning for what it truly is, we would not be where we are today — and that is with two devastated lives and two devastated families.

lt looks as though we have an alleged victim who doesn’t agree with how things are being handled by the State, her parents or their attorney. She has felt compelled to do what she thought was the only thing to save Kaitlyn from the State and her parents and that was to reach out and let Kaitlyn know this was not her idea or what she wants. I am totally cognizant that she is a minor.

For Chris Taylor to file a notice with those kinds of details in it, I just cannot begin to fathom why that was necessary. The same Notice with general language could have been accomplished and reached the same objective, to revoke her bond. What happened to a statement like “numerous texts and inappropriate language” without details? With today being the first day of school in Indian River County, I can only imagine the chatter at the school. Even if not said directly to the alleged victim, it is going to be discussed behind her back. You can’t stop it.

Nonetheless it comes down to we still have a situation of two teenagers who were in school together and involved in a consensual relationship. Yes one that under the current law is a crime, but still consensual. It was brought to an abrupt end and the older “adult” teen faces up to thirty years in prison. The younger teen cannot comprehend the seriousness of the matter because it was something she consented to. Her opinion is ignored by the State, interrogated by the Sheriff’s Department, taken to a church that labels being gay a sin, has the Bible thrown at her, all of her things in her room boxed up and taken from her, is apparently hit by her parents, and clearly yelled at for lying by her father in the presence of Detective Shepherd at the school in a subsequent interview. How could she not be confused, scared and feel as though this is all her fault and no one is listening? She already tried to speak to Kaitlyn’s mother, Kelley, who shut her down. So she turns to the only person who could possible understand in her eyes and a person she clearly does not want to see hurt and that is Kaitlyn. She wants to try to save her and in doing so she just causes the walls to continue to tumble down.

And here we are. Now there are new charges that set us all back even further. The defense of Kaitlyn Hunt will continue until the matter is either resolved or determined in a court of law, not public opinion.

Attorney for Kaitlyn Hunt

First off, if you want to see a perfect dissection of this, head on over to The Other McCain.  I do have some comments that R.S. McCain did not address…

Nonetheless it comes down to we still have a situation of two teenagers who were in school together and involved in a consensual relationship. Yes one that under the current law is a crime, but still consensual.

Yes, as a lawyer, you must know that a 14 year old in the state of Florida cannot consent.  That’s why, among other things, your client is in jail!   Perhaps you missed that?

I have made every effort to keep the alleged victim out of the public eye.

You didn’t have to, your client’s mother and supporters named the alleged victim, their parents, their personal information, and engaged in a campaign of harassment against them.

The younger teen cannot comprehend the seriousness of the matter because it was something she consented to.

Do you realize that you just proved our point?  The alleged victim cannot comprehend the seriousness of it.  That’s why teens can’t consent!  Given the potential consequences of sexual activity, adults create laws to protect children from predatory adults.  That’s why two year-olds can’t vote, and three year-olds can’t drive.  They can’t deal with the implications, decision making, and the consequences!

…taken to a church that labels being gay a sin

Which makes Christianity, and the Bible, a sin?  Oh, and sexual orientation has nothing to do with the offense.  If gays want equal protection under the law, then the law should be applied the same way here, right?  In fact, prominent Gay rights groups has said as much, and do not support your client.   Are you also saying that Christians have no right to protect their children, or that  adult lesbians have a legal right to have sex with minors?  Do you understand that your argument is asinine?

…all of her things in her room boxed up and taken from her,

Well, she did run away from home to have sexual relations with your client.  Some parents place limits on children, and have consequences when they act out.   I know, it might be an alien concept to you, but that’s how parents raise kids that aren’t sitting in jail cells for having sex with minors and violating release agreements.

She already tried to speak to Kaitlyn’s mother, Kelley, who shut her down. So she turns to the only person who could possible understand in her eyes and a person she clearly does not want to see hurt and that is Kaitlyn.

On the contrary, there was communication between the alleged victim and Kelly Hunt.  The elder Hunt told her to “delete everything!” You know, destroy the evidence that your client violated the court order?  Kaitlyn Hunt instructed the victim to “lie,”  cursed at her, and warned her that she (Kaitlyn Hunt)  would go to jail if the victim admitted the truth.  The truth is the the victim was being manipulated by Kaitlyn Hunt and her mother.  They wanted the victim to lie to the court, and cover up Kaitlyn Hunt’s alleged crimes.

And here we are. Now there are new charges that set us all back even further. The defense of Kaitlyn Hunt will continue until the matter is either resolved or determined in a court of law, not public opinion.

There are new charges because your client sent pornographic images to a minor!

In the “court of public opinion?”  Your client and family appeared on the Today Show and MSNBC!  They are selling “Free Kate” merchandise!  They have put up petitions, Facebook pages, and Twitter accounts.  The Hunts made this a national story.  They Hunts decided that Kaitlyn’s “get out of jail free card” was to make this as public as possible, and make it legal for adults to have sex with kids.  You can’t put the Genie back in the bottle, it’s too late for that.  The Hunts made this public, and it will stay that way until it’s over.

Was she thinking when she wrote this?

Now, here is a comment from a supporter…

Kaitlyn_Hunt_Heather_Wirth_DalagerTeachers, doctors, therapists, nurses, and the like are what are called “Mandated Reporters.”  They are required by law to report abuse.  State laws may vary a bit, and I don’t know Florida’s statute, but in my state, the teacher might be in trouble for not calling the police immediately.  She should have told the parents and the principal, but have also called the police.

If folks recall, not doing this got Joe Paterno fired, and Penn State sued out the wazoo.

Of course, Heather Wirth-Dalager thinks that as long as a lesbian is abusing the children, they somehow have a right to privacy.

I do have some notes on the whole situation, and particularly the #FreeKate crowd.

This is all a reflection of the common liberal tactic of “blame someone else.”  These people are incapable of accepting responsibility for their actions.  According to the #FreeKate crowd, the victim, and/or the parents are to blame, and the lawyer blames the prosecutor.  But, the only person not to blame is Kaitlyn Hunt.  After all, she had the legal “right” to have sex with that minor.

By my estimation, these are extremely deceived people.  They believe its OK for adults to have sex with minors.  They attack anything that resembles morality, because they have none themselves.  They do situational ethics, which means that their sense or morality, such as it is, changes based on how they are feeling moment to moment.  Having no  system of belief to guide them, they don’t understand that laws protect the innocent.  It simply doesn’t compute to them.   They don’t get that there is a wide gulf of maturity between 14 and 18.  They don’t get that the rules apply to them, or someone they love.  When they encounter a rule they don’t like, it’s “unjust,” and they don’t follow it.  And, if someone disagrees, the opposition are “haters.”  They respond to “haters” by engaging in actual hate themselves, but they don’t seem to get the irony there.

In other words, they are lost.  Christians would say that they are deceived. Bezmemov would say that they are “demoralized,” or “useful idiots.”   Satan would call them, “my busy little bees.” There is little use in engaging them, they cannot or will not see the truth.  They are incapable of it.

Updated to add picture and correct two misspelled words.  Also updated for a typo, thanks to a reader for catching that!

From the Manhattan Infidel Future Archives, July 20, 2035: Satan Expels Al Gore from Hell

The danger of global warming threatens Hell

In a move that surprised many, Satan today announced that he has permanently banned Al Gore from Hell.

“I just couldn’t take it anymore” Satan told reporters during a conference call to explain his actions.

I mean from the moment he died and ended up down here he’s been nothing but a pain in the ass.  The other damned souls can’t stand him.  He keeps going from one circle of Hell to the other talking about reducing one’s carbon footprint.  Look, I’m the Devil.  I’m the one who’s supposed to be doing the torturing.  I had to tell him to leave the condemned alone.

According to sources in Hell things between Satan and Al Gore became intolerable.

“Gore kept challenging Satan’s authority” according to a demon.

He would say things like, “I can run this place better” and “It’s too hot here.  You should set the thermostat on a more acceptable temperature that won’t waste energy.”  Finally Satan lost his temper and said, “This is f*cking Hell!  It’s supposed to be warm!”

On Friday evenings Satan would hang out with the other demons in a bar and talk about their week.  The conversation invariably came back to the new arrival.

I remember once Satan just had his head in his hands and he kept saying, “Do you know what he said to me today?  He wants me to install high-speed rail between the different circles of Hell.  He said I could use the savings to buy some carbon credits.  I hate the a–hole!”

Satan would hold strategy sessions with his lieutenants to figure out what to do with Gore.

“We were going to peel his skin off for eternity” said a demon.

But under the hate crimes act of 2005 that would lead to sanctions and loss of favored nation trading status with the United States.

It was then that it was decided to do something that usually isn’t done:  expel a member from Hell.

“I can’t remember the last time that happened.  I think it was either Stalin or Milton Berle.”

After his expulsion Gore, through his lawyer who remained in Hell, (“Sorry, lawyers never leave.  Rules are rules” said Satan) released a statement that said:

I am disappointed in Satan’s decision.  The science of global warming is incontrovertible.  If Hell doesn’t lower its carbon footprint lava levels will rise and burn all the damned.

Satan responded to Gore by saying that “Gore’s an idiot.”

What’s the point of having a plentiful supply of lava – and don’t give me any of the “magma” crap – if we can’t use it to burn the damned?

As for Gore’s future plans, he revealed that he intends to run for the Senate again.

“I believe my experience in Hell gives me a keen insight that can only help me in office.”

After the expulsion Satan raised temperatures in Hell.

“F*ck ‘em.  Everybody’s roasting tonight.”

Making Right Choices in the Face of Temptation

Have you ever noticed that when you are making great strides to be closer to the Lord, the more Satan attacks you and tempts you in your weakest areas? Satan does not want us to mature in our Christian walk. He does not want us to become like Christ and be holy.

I don’t believe he is too worried when we go to church once a week and maybe attend a Bible study every now and then and read a devotional and say a short prayer once a day. But when we begin to allow Christ to transform us and we start listening and obeying Christ and spending more time praying, reading Scripture and sharing Christ with others, Satan brings out all his arsenal against us and he knows exactly where we are the weakest.

The gospel scripture this coming Sunday, the first Sunday of Lent, is Luke 14:1-13 where Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit and led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days and while there, tempted by Satan. Satan knows that Jesus is about to begin His ministry to save mankind from their sins, so he goes on the attack. 1 John 2:16 says that we are tempted in three ways – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride of life (boasting of what we have and do). Jesus also was tempted in all three of these areas. First, Satan tried to get him to turn the stones into bread (the lust of the flesh). Second, Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offered him power and glory (lust of the eyes). Last, Satan tried to convince Jesus to throw himself off the parapet of the temple because he is God, the son, and the angels would protect him (Pride).

In our own life, when the temptations come our way (and they will), we can at least rest in the knowledge that Jesus understands what we are going through. As Hebrew 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin.” I don’t know about you, but that comforts me. Even when we fail and give in to the temptation, Jesus understands our weakness and is ready and willing to forgive us.

When reading all the Scriptures that are for this coming Sunday (Deuteronomy 26:4-10, Psalm 91, Romans 10:8-13 and Luke 4:1-13), I like to find a common theme that ties them all together for our growth and enlightenment. In Deuteronomy, when the Israelites needed help in their affliction, they called out to God and God heard their cry. In Psalm 91, it says, “I will be with him in distress; I will deliver him and glorify Him.” But the whole Psalm is about the Lord being with us in times of trouble. In Romans 10:8-13, the words, “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” jumps out at me because when Jesus was tempted, he used Scripture to answer Satan. “IT IS WRITTEN”!

James 4:7-8 says, “Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Ephesians 6:14-18 says, “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occassions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Finally we need to remember, 1 Corinthians 10:13, No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Temptations will be a part of our life until Jesus brings us out of this world and brings us into the Promised Land, our home in Heaven. We need to stay alert, keep our eyes and hearts on Jesus, and hide his Word (Scripture) in our heart. That means we need to memorize Scripture. I think it would be a great habit to start this Lent season and to continue throughout this year and years to come – to memorize one verse a week.

Thank you, Lord for all your love and mercies. Glory be, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be, world without end. Amen.

Satan Is Seeking to Devour You

Us Christians have all read the Bible. We have all read about Satan (the devil). We know he is the master deceiver – the ultimate liar. Setting pride aside as I am tonight as a Christian, I really feel that most Christians can attest to the fact that Satan has them bound in some way. It could be in the area of the BIG three – drugs, alcohol or tobacco. Or it could it in a multitude of other things

  • Eating
  • Money
  • Workaholic
  • Laziness
  • TV
  • Music
  • Reading
  • Crafts like knitting, crocheting, etc
  • Computer games
  • Spending
  • The list could probably be endless

1 Peter5:8
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Our country is getting worse and worse and our churches and our Christian community (whether Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc) as a whole needs revival in a BIG way. I can’t help but think about the words of Christ right before he ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God…..

Matthew 28:16-20
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of theHoly Spirit20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Now as I write this post, I’ll talking to myself, but I believe I’m just one of millions of Christians who are bound by the things of this world and not sharing Christ with others and making disciples and then we sit back and wonder why our world is getting worse and worse. Some of us are bound up with some type of sin or another that keeps us ineffective. Others are just bound up in the everyday task of living in this world. If you’re like most Christians, you pray every day, you read your Bible and devotions every day, you go to church at least once a week, and maybe attend a Bible study once a week.

But when was the last time you tried to witness to someone about Christ with words and not in just the way you live your life. I find that most Christians are afraid to share their faith with other people – both acquaintances they know or strangers. I’m one of them. I was bolder in witnessing to others when I was in my teenage years, but somewhere along life’s journey, I became afraid. Why? God’s Word tells me that I don’t need to be afraid, that he will give me the words to speak. But yet I remain afraid. The sad part of that is that in today’s world, at least in the United States, I don’t really have anything to be afraid of. No one is going to throw me in prison, or feed me to the lions, or cut my head off. Maybe I’ll get ridiculed, rejected, or made fun of, but nothing that will hurt me physically.

Like me, I hope you’ll start praying for yourself. I pray that God will free me from the addictions that bind me and transform me into a loving, Godly person who has a real burden for all the people around me that are lost and would go to Hell if they died today. I pray that once I have that burden, that God will fill me with the power of His Holy Spirit like the disciples on the day of Pentecost to boldly share Christ and what He did on the Cross to people He leads me to share Him with.

Pray with me today! If all of us Christians would seriously pray for that transformation and get to making more and more disciples for Christ, we could really see a revival begin in the United States.
