Obama promised that he would put coal fired power plants out of business.  Obama promised that his policies would make make electric bills “skyrocket.”  As we face potential energy shortages and even possible brownouts/blackouts due to Obama’s policies, coal miners are looking forward to a bleak future as well.  Here is video of a miner making a rather humble and heartfelt comment a a public hearing.

When Obama kills the industry that uses much of the coal mined, it puts the coal miners in a precarious position. But, of course, the Obama administration doesn’t care a bit about the miners, other than the fact that it drives more and more of them into dependency on the government.  I do have to ask some questions though…

Did the United Mine Workers Union endorse Obama?

Did the United Mine Workers give campaign dollars to the democrats that support Obama’s job killing policies?

And now, they’re going to take Obama to task for doing what he promised to do in the first place?

And, come to think of it, why does Obama only keep promises that wreck people’s lives?

I know, the typical leftist, having no facts in his or her arsenal, will resort to insults, but in the meantime, they’ll put this man out of work, impoverish his family, and blame it on someone else-probably Bush.

And the sheeple will bleat compliantly.

I can only hope that more and more people wake up to this, but previous experience tells me that it’s wishful thinking.

OSHA Targeting Non-Union Plants, and Allowing Union Reps to Come Along on the Inspections

Imagine, if you will, that a federal bureaucracy uses it’s power to target opponents of the Obama administration (non-union facilities).  Now, imagine that not only do they target the non-union facilities, but they bring union reps along for the inspections!  Breitbart has more…

“Well, it came to light for us when we noticed that there were more and more stories being reported around the country where OSHA was designating union representatives to come along for inspections in non-unionized industry,” Roby said. “At the same time, OSHA issued what’s regional emphasis program that targeted the automotive parts suppliers in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. And they did so without justification. So, our problem is, number one, we’re questioning whether or not this administration’s interpretation of the law affords OSHA the unilateral opportunity to bring along a union rep to non-unionized corporation for an inspection. But, also, to target specific industry in a specific part of the country without offering the appropriate justification.”

Remember kids, Valerie Jarrett promised that after the election, that the Obama administration was going to punish their enemies.

Seems that the threat is being carried out as promised.

Subaru Dealership Outwits Union; Turns Attempted Intimidation Into Epic Win

To say that one outwitted a union is not much of a statement.  For decades, union goons got away with violence, intimidation, extortion, and any of a number of mob related offenses for which they were immune from prosecution.  Now, with technology, like digital cameras, social media, and blogs, union thugs have a harder going of it.  If they beat someone up, there’s someone there with a camera to record it.  Then, it circulates all over as example # 1,500,693 of union violence.  In other words, their overt tactics now expose them, so more subtle methods are needed.  So, in many cases, they have switched to other tactics, like trying to shame people.  When Carpenter’s local 201, in Wichita, Kansas, wasn’t able to break all the kneecaps at a local Subaru dealership and get a contract, they decided to place a sign outside the dealership to smear them.  The response of the dealership was priceless and epic.  Here is more…

WICHITA — Labor dispute signs have been popping up at all kinds of businesses and nonprofits in the last couple of years, but Subaru of Wichita appears to be the first business to fight back.

“To be accused of desecrating the American way of life, we’re going to take a little bit of exception to that,” says Aaron Wirtz, who handles marketing and media for Subaru.

Earlier this week, the United Brotherhood Of Carpenters And Joiners Of America Local 201 began a protest in front of the dealership, which is on East Kellogg between Greenwich and 127th Street.

Subaru is in the process of a $1.5 million update to transform the property to the Subaru brand from the previous Suzuki brand that was there.

Wirtz says in addition to hiring a local architect on the project, Subaru hired Wichita’s Key Construction as its contractor. He says Key then hired Hi-Tech Interiors, a local nonunion firm, to do a small portion of drywall work.

In response, the Carpenters union now has people manning a “Shame on Subaru of Wichita” sign on an easement in front of the dealership.

“While we’re certainly not happy to see that, we were kind of unsurprised,” Wirtz says.

In response, Subaru now has a sign that plays off the “Shame” by saying, “For having unbeatable prices.” It also says “indisputable” in a couple of places on the sign.

Wirtz says Subaru respects the union’s right to protest.

“We’ve actually given them lunch. We’ve invited them to visit our facilities.”

Wirtz says he’s convinced the people with the sign are simply hired by the union to stand there.

I wonder if the unions are paying those people a “living wage?”

Here is the union sign…

shame on subaruAnd here is the dealership’s response…

subaru unbeatableThe original post from, as well as Twitchy, have more.

I have to ask if this union will be smart enough to avoid their typical tactics.  It is rather predictable that someone might sneak into the dealer’s lot late a night and “accidentally” slash some tires.  Ir maybe it will “mysteriously” catch on fire.  Or, will they realize what anyone with an ounce of sense, and at the bottom of a hole, figures out-stop digging!

Volkswagen Workers Reject Union ‘Protection’

union thug

In what may have been a “make it or break it” union scenario, workers at the Volkswagen Plant in Tennessee rejected union representation “protection.”    American Power has more…

The United Auto Workers union suffered a crushing defeat Friday, falling short in an election in which it seemed to have a clear path to organizing workers at Volkswagen AG VOW3.XE +1.10%  ‘s plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The setback is a bitter defeat because the union had the cooperation of Volkswagen management and the aid of Germany’s powerful IG Metall union, yet it failed to win a majority among the plants 1,550 hourly workers.

Volkswagen workers rejected the union by a vote of 712 to 626. The defeat raises questions about the future of a union that for years has suffered from declining membership and influence, and almost certainly leaves its president, Bob King, who had vowed to organize at least one foreign auto maker by the time he retires in June, with a tarnished legacy.

“If the union can’t win [in Chattanooga], it can’t win anywhere,” said Steve Silvia, a economics and trade professor at American University who has studied labor unions.

The UAW said that “outside interference” affected the outcome of the vote. “Unfortunately, politically motivated third parties threatened the economic future of this facility and the opportunity for workers to create a successful operating model that that would grow jobs in Tennessee,” Gary Casteel, the union official in charge of the VW campaign, said in a statement.

Here is some video…

If you recall, when the unions are beating people up, it’s “This is what democracy looks like.”  And, ironically, “democracy” means preventing a vote.  When actual democracy happens, and the unions lose, it is always someone else’s fault.

I love the quote from the video, “we don’t quit.”  What does that mean?  It means that even when the workers reject them, the union comes back again, with bigger lies, more threats, and more intimidation.  When workers vote “no,” the union will retaliate, until they win.  And, if they have to bust some heads to “convince” workers to vote for the unions, so be it.

The Famous Mr. Ed

Ed Schultz - Rich Socialist

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed.
Go right to the source and ask the horse
He’ll give you the answer that you’ll endorse.
He’s always on a steady course.
Talk to Mr. Ed.

Once a horse’s ass, always a horse’s ass.  The Daley Gator elucidates:

Suddenly, After Pimping Class Envy Rhetoric For Years, Ed Schultz Hates Class Envy

Hypocrisy much Ed?

The Angriest Man on TV™ gets paid big bucks for his act as a left-wing populist who hates Republicans like God hates sin. Alas, when it comes to the lowly wage slaves who haul the freight at his network, Ed Schultz sounds like more like Ebenezer Scrooge:

Ed Schultz decided to take a break from his normal act of ranting against Republicans today by raging against some fellow liberals who had the temerity to criticize him and other MSNBC hosts for declining to publicly take the side of union members in a dispute they’re having with the cable channel’s parent company, NBC Universal.

Schultz … lashed out at a report from which mentioned him: “I become the target because I’m living good. I become the target because I have a platform … They’re just out to take somebody down who’s got something they don’t have.” …

“I’m not going to lower myself to people who just have got employment envy, income envy, exposure envy, platform envy,” Schultz said, according to a Salon transcription of the show…

Schultz also attacked an internet columnist named David Sirota in a way that could not be construed as anything but “punching down.”

“It’s interesting that you have had class envy on me for years, that you’re never going to be as big as I am. That’s what you’re all about, Sirota.” He reiterated his opinion moments later, calling Sirota a “loser.”

Wow, that’s weird. I actually agree with Ed Schultz: His critics are envious, and David Sirota is certainly a loser. But that message is not in sync with the egalitarian ethos of the Left, and Ed Schultz just exposed himself as a loud, phony, hypocritical plutocrat.

Did I mention Ed Schultz’s reported salary is $4 million a year?

Four Million for that ass hat? Whoever thought acting like a complete buffoon with anger management issues could make you rich? But, when you think about it, many rich Liberals are not that different from Schultz are they? Angry, bitter, foul-mouthed, need I go on?

Funny how Liberals like Schultz change their tune on the “rich” when they are themselves attacked for being rich.

Boeing Workers Vote to Lose Their Jobs?

It appears that Boeing workers have literally voted themselves out of a job.

WASHINGTON — Looks like unionized industrial engineers and other workers will be out of a job soon. The union representing workers that would help build Boeing 777X airliners voted 67% against non-union labor for the project.

Reuters reported that the International Machinists’ Union hailed it as a victory for their workers, but Boeing quickly responded and said they will move their business elsewhere.

If you recall, the Obama Administration, actively prevented Boeing from opening a facility in a Right to Work state.

I wonder what kind of promises the union bosses made to the rank and file?  I wonder if the rank and file realize that the bosses will throw them under the bus in a heartbeat.  Or, will both blame Boeing, because that is easier than dealing with reality?

Michigan Teacher Sues to be Freed From Union

I hope she realizes what she is getting in to.

Miriam Chanski, a teacher from Coopersville, Michigan, is suing to be freed from her union, the Michigan Education Association.  EAGNews has more…

Miriam Chanski, 24, attempted to drop out of the MEA teachers union this May after Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder approved legislation making Michigan a right-to-work state. But Chanski told WZZM television station the union responded with a letter two months later rejecting her request.

The MEA, like most teachers unions, only allows members a very small window of time to drop their memberships each year – for the MEA it’s the month of August – and requires specific paperwork to complete the request. Most teachers are unaware of the technical process, and Chanski is no exception.

Chanski is now embroiled in a legal battle to win her freedom from the MEA.

At least seven other Michigan teachers were also unaware of the union drop policy, and are also suing for their freedom.

The ridiculous rules are obviously designed to prevent members from leaving, but teachers unions also use other tactics to keep members in line.

“In September, the president of our union came into my classroom before school and told me she was aware I wanted to opt out of the union and asked if I had sent in another form in August,” Chanski told WZZM. “I told her I was unaware of another form to send in, I was unaware of the August dates, and she told me at that point if I had not sent in that form, I might have missed my chance to opt out of the union.”

The local union president then allegedly threatened to turn the teacher in to a collection agency and ruin her credit if she didn’t pay her union dues, Chanski told the television station.

Chanski said the bottom line is “I chose to opt out and it’s not being honored.”

Of course, according to the union, they are so great, that Chanski should be forced to stay.  They know what this suit means-if Chanski wins, the flood gates open, and teachers start leaving in larger and larger numbers.  If you recall, when Prop 10 passed in Wisconsin, people left public service unions en-masse, and entire school districts de-certified their unions.  I’m sure the MEA has seen that, and do not want their slaves, and their dues,  escaping.  So, I would image that they are going to make life uncomfortable for Chanski.  While education unions are not known for a ton of violence, they aren’t above making false complaints, sabotaging work, or whatever is needed to silence a wayward member.

In the end, these efforts work best when more people join.  The larger the movement, the easier it is to deal with the nonsense.

Christian Bakery Closed by Gay Mafia Threats/Intimidation, and How to Fight Back

It’s going to be  familiar refrain, if the gay rights crowd has their way…

Christians need not apply.

As I see it, there is a pattern of attack used by gay rights groups in response to the very existence of a Christian business.

1.  The gay rights crowd sends someone to that business with a request that will cause the business owner to violate their beliefs.

2.  Since the Christian business owner actually has a core morality to guide him/her, they will refuse the the request.

3.  The gay rights crowd then begins a typical leftist campaign of terror against the Christian business owner.  Legal action might be taken, death threats will come, and boycotts will be threatened.

4.  The Christian business closes.

6.  ???

5  PROFIT!!!!

To see the latest example of this, take a look at what happened to a Bakery owner that dared worship that Jesus guy!

Better is a poor man who walks in integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways,” read a posting from Proverbs on the bakery’s Facebook page.

“The LGBT attacks are the reason we are shutting down the shop. They have killed our business through mob tactics.”

– Aaron Klein, owner, Sweet Cakes By Melissa

“It’s a sad day for Christian business owners and it’s a sad day for the First Amendment,” owner Aaron Klein told me. “The LGBT attacks are the reason we are shutting down the shop. They have killed our business through mob tactics.”

Last January, Aaron and Melissa Klein made national headlines when they refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.

Klein tells me he has nothing against homosexuals — but because of their religious faith, the family simply cannot take part in gay wedding events.

“I believe marriage is between a man and a woman,” he said. “I don’t want to help somebody celebrate a commitment to a lifetime of sin.”

The lesbian couple filed a discrimination with the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries and told their story to local newspapers and television statements.

Within days, militant homosexuals groups launched protests and boycotts. Klein told me he received messages threatening to kill his family. They hoped his children would die.

The LGBT protestors then turned on other wedding vendors around the community. They threatened to boycott any florists, wedding planners or other vendors that did business with Sweet Cakes By Melissa.

“That tipped the scales,” Klein said. “The LGBT activists inundated them with phone calls and threatened them. They would tell our vendors, ‘If you don’t stop doing business with Sweet Cakes By Melissa, we will shut you down.’”

Of course, the lesbian couple could go to any other baker out there.  I would suggest that this bakery, and other businesses like it, are being targeted in this manner.  It is an effort to shut down Christian businesses.  You see, the gay rights crowd doesn’t want “tolerance.”  They don’t want to be jus a part part of a pluralistic society.  They want to dominate society by crushing anyone that gets in their way-except Muslims.  (For some reason, Muslims, who do actually kill gays, are not being attacked-go figure)  Like any other “tolerant” regressive group, the gay rights crowd is very “tolerant” of anyone that agrees with them entirely.  However, if you love God, and his son, you must be attacked, and you will be driven from the marketplace, and eventually, society as a whole.

But, there may be a way to fight back.  If you recall, during the 2011 effort to combat the excesses of public sector unions in Wisconsin, union thugs (in addition to beating up women) were going from business to business in Madison, demanding that each sign a petition and post a sign in their window stating support for the union.  I covered this at the time…

Charlie Sykes, of AM 620, WTMJ, is reporting that local businesses in Wisconsin are being threatened by labor unions.  Apparently, to make the threats go away, the businesses had to sign a petition condemning Governor Walker.  Here is a screencap, via Michelle Malkin…

letter3In other words, just like the gay rights groups, the unions were saying the following…

Nice business you have here… be a shame if something were to happen to it.

The problem for the unions in Madison was their efforts were very, very illegal.  And, they backed off quickly once that was pointed out.  You see, most states included this kind of stuff in their statutes to protect businesses from the mob- you know, the mafia!  I covered that aspect as well…

Now there is another development underway in the case of the union shakedown of local businesses.  Several bloggers, including Da Tech Guy, have pointed out that threatening the boycott of businesses might be a felony…

So let’s take a look at what Wisconsin law states, specifically Wisconsin Statutes > Criminal Code > Chapter 943 > Subchapter III > § 943.30 – Threats to injure or accuse of crime:

943.30 Threats to injure or accuse of crime.
943.30(1) 1) Whoever, either verbally or by any written or printed communication, maliciously threatens to accuse or accuses another of any crime or offense, or threatens or commits any injury to the person, property, business, profession, calling or trade, or the profits and income of any business, profession, calling or trade of another, with intent thereby to extort money or any pecuniary advantage whatever, or with intent to compel the person so threatened to do any act against the person’s will or omit to do any lawful act emphasis mine, is guilty of a Class H felony.

Note that since according to the letter sent out to businesses a “neutral” stance is not allowed, the union is COMPELLING the person to act against their will or suffer the consequences. That makes this section active and makes the union letter written proof of a class H felony.

A class H felony in Wisconsin carries a max of 6 years a fine of $10k or both.

And the second section is even more interesting:

(2) Whoever violates sub. (1) by obstructing, delaying or affecting commerce or business or the movement of any article or commodity in commerce or business is guilty of a Class H felony.

So that means that if you are a protester as part of the promised boycotts or picket of a business based on the above letter: Presto! You are subject to this same penalty!

So, if you are a Christian businessman in Wisconsin, you are protected by these laws.  I checked in PA, and I found the following…

§ 3923. Theft by extortion.
        (a) Offense defined.--A person is guilty of theft if he
intentionally obtains or withholds property of another by
     threatening to:
            (1)  commit another criminal offense;
            (2)  accuse anyone of a criminal offense;
            (3) expose any secret tending to subject any person to
        hatred, contempt or ridicule;
            (4) take or withhold action as an official, or cause an
        official to take or withhold action;
            (5) bring about or continue a strike, boycott or other
collective unofficial action, if the property is not demanded
or received for the benefit of the group in whose interest
        the actor purports to act;
            (6) testify or provide information or withhold testimony
or information with respect to the legal claim or defense of
        another; or
            (7) inflict any other harm which would not benefit the
        (b) Defenses.--It is a defense to prosecution based on
paragraphs (a)(2), (a)(3) or (a)(4) of this section that the
property obtained by threat of accusation, exposure, lawsuit or
other invocation of official action was honestly claimed as
restitution or indemnification for harm done in the
circumstances to which such accusation, exposure, lawsuit or
other official action relates, or as compensation for property
     or lawful services.
     (June 24, 1976, P.L.425, No.102, eff. imd.)

So, if you are own a business, and you are a Christian, you may have a legal means of defense.  You will have to check your state’s statutes, but fighting the mafia happened everywhere, so I would guess that all states have something like this.  Of course, if your local prosecutor is gay, or a democrat, or a regressive (but I repeat myself), you may not get much help.  But, it’s on the books.

Does this mean that we’ve identified the “gay mafia?”

2014 C7 Corvette: See it Here

Just when you thought that the C6 was the pinnacle of Corvette awesomeness, they went and created the 2014 C7 Corvette.  Steve, at Motor City Times, has the pics…

Then, the Dallas News has more details…

Wave bye-bye to the old plastic-fantastic Corvette, America’s original sports car.

In a nod to the past and a major reach for the future, Chevrolet unveiled the all-new 2014 Corvette tonight in Detroit, renaming it the Chevrolet Stingray.

The much anticipated ‘Vette was introduced on the eve of the opening of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

And you can forget those old slams — the complaints that the Corvette was crude and unsophisticated.

The lithe, slightly more European looking two-seater gets a carbon-fiber hood and roof panel, a compact high-compression 450-horsepower V-8 and a new seven-speed manual transmission (a six-speed automatic remains an option).

The car’s taut body — fitted to a wheelbase that is about one inch longer than the current car and an inch wider — includes composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels and carbon-nano composite underbody panels.

In addition, it will ride on a hydroformed aluminum frame that is 57 percent stiffer and 99 pounds lighter than the current car, Chevy says.

Direct fuel injection and cylinder deactivation for cruising in four-cylinder mode were just some of the additions to the ‘Vette’s 6.2-liter V-8.

In fact, the Stingray shares only two parts with the previous-generation Corvette, Chevy said of its new Porsche- and Viper-fighter.

“The 2014 Corvette delivers the fastest acceleration, the most cornering grip, the most track capability, the best braking performance and what we expect to be the best fuel economy ever for a standard Corvette,” said Tadge Juechter, chief engineer for Corvette.

Chevy says the Stingray will rip to 60 in less than 4 seconds and achieve highway fuel economy of more than 26 miles per gallon.

Although the company did not disclose the car’s weight, it should have a better power-to-weight ratio than a Porsche 911 Carrera or Audi R8, Chevy said.

Even though the C7 is on the permanent “no buy list,” due to it’s involvement with Gubbmint Motors and it being assembled by forced union enslavement, it is a remarkable achievement.

MEA President Politicize Shootings, Uses Tragedy to Push Personal Agenda Using Union Resources

Hours after the tragic school shooting, I received an email from the Michigan Education Association President Steve Cook. The entire statement can be found on the MEA website, paid for by unionized school employees, but here is the bulk of it:

Regardless of what the details and facts are of today’s events in Connecticut, this nation must have a real conversation about guns and the safety of our students and those who care for them.

“I am a gun owner and avid outdoorsman, but something must be done to protect our children from such acts of violence. Entire school communities — boards, administrators, teachers, support staff, parents and students — need to be partners in discussions to ensure our school buildings are safe and protected from these kinds of crimes, using the latest in technology and building design to secure buildings and classrooms from those who would bring harm to students, whether armed or not.

But we need REAL solutions. Just yesterday, the Michigan Legislature passed SB 59, which allows for concealed firearms in our schools. Those who think that students and teachers will be safer with MORE guns in our schools are just plain wrong. Thinking that teachers should carry weapons and fire on threats is a recipe for even more death — not safety. I hope Governor Snyder understands this and vetoes SB 59, not only for the safety of our children but out of respect for those who died today in Connecticut. To sign this bill in light of this tragedy would be unfathomable.”

The details and facts of this tragedy, much like the other mass killing sprees that have struck the United States, are that they occur in areas that are supposedly “gun-free” zones in which gun carrying isn’t allowed. Today, a worker or a young student is most vulnerable to being murdered without any sort of chance of help in areas where the government creates a wall that prevents those who would stop such murderous rampages from occurring from doing so. Schools, universities, airplanes (prior to air marshal’s), or private property posted with a no-guns signs (like a movie theatre) are now the scenes of the most deadly gun-related rampages- and that should fact should not be overlooked.

Evil cowards know that they can go on to school property, or visit Steve Cook’s house (assuming that he isn’t a hypocrite), and know that there will be no armed resistance to anything that they intend to do. These zones are ‘gun free’, so anyone who brings a firearm into these areas is superior and does not have to fear being stopped in any way from any sort of agenda that they engage in.

And then when they begin their rampage of death, it is assured to be much more deadly than if someone or several someones had firearms to deal with the evil turd. Professor Eugene Volokh provides several cases where a deadly shooter was stopped after only murdering several people by a brave citizen armed with a firearm and his second amendment rights.

Steve Cook is the usual sort of leftist thug who believes that we should have ‘a conversation’, but really just wants ‘his solution’, which is for the state to have all the firearms and weapons and for people to be left defenseless and helpless, much as they were at this school today. When I read the story of today’s tragedy I was struck at how utterly HELPLESS the people were as death stalked the halls of the school- left with no weapons of any sort, they simply waited to die or prayed for mercy or luck.

This is no way to live, and no way to work, and I am pissed that my union President, who is paid with dues money taken from me without my choice, is using this tragedy to try to take weapons and defences from law-abiding citizens so that more tragedies like this one can occur. Schools, universities, airplanes, and military barracks should be heavily armed and defended, as they protect us at our most vulnerable, and instead union hacks like Steve Cook are preaching the opposite- to take freedom and liberty out of people’s hands and leave us all cowering at the mercy of thugs and evil-doers.

Next I imagine that Cook is going to push to remove all knives from schools after a knife attack at a Chinese school wounded 22 children and 1 adult. In spite of a Chinese law requiring those who buy knives to register, it looks like this attack was stopped through armed security guards and not government laws depriving people of their own ability to defend their property, liberty, and lives.

MEA President Steve Cook is right about one thing- entire school communities including school boards, administrators, teachers, support staff, parents and students need to be partners in discussions to ensure our school buildings are safe and protected from these kinds of crimes, and in these discussions need to push for more funding for armed security guards, police officer liaisons, training for staff in weapons and firearms, and more training and support for concealed weapons in schools. A professional, liberty-loving, and well-armed workforce is the best defense against future school shootings, not weak, disarmed, and helpless serfs at the mercy of lawless thugs and evildoers. Look to our founding principles and we shall find guidance on this issue, and disabuse Mr. Steve Cook of his backward notions and faulty logic.

For more coverage of this issue, go to memeorandum and read some of the stories  andhere and here.

UPDATE: The Detroit News chimed on this very same subject, taking a more balanced approach but highlighting the very same statement from Cook- read the Detroit News version at Shootings energize debate about expanding CCW laws in Michigan.

Here in Michigan we don’t just dicuss things- we get them done. Let’s not talk and discuss anymore- here in Michigan we need your help. The Governor might be tempted to veto the legislation that our legislature passed that will let law-abiding and trained patriotic Americans carry concealed weapons in schools and thereby deter acts such as the latest school shooting. Call our Governor’s office at (517) 373-3400 or fax at (517) 335-6863 and do more than just talk about making a difference- help make a difference by encouraging him to pass the bill.

Hostess Dies Again, 18,500 out of Work: Bonus Twinkie Recipe!

While I was at work yesterday, a court ordered mediation failed to produce an agreement that would save Hostess from the liquidation chopping block.   So, once again, Hostess is dead.  Michelle Malkin has more…

It didn’t happen:

Hostess Brands lived to die another day.

The maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs said late Tuesday that it failed to reach an agreement with its second biggest union. As a result, Hostess plans to continue with a hearing on Wednesday in which a bankruptcy court judge will decide if the company can shutter its operations.

The renewed talks between Hostess and The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union came after the company declared last week that it would move to wind down its business and start selling off its assets in bankruptcy court. The company cited a crippling strike that was started on Nov. 9 by the union, which represents 30 percent of Hostess workers.

Once again, Hostess has died.  And, to repeat, I hope that the people that buy the company, or the rights to the specific products move to a right-to-work state, and leave the union goons standing in the wreckage that they created.

Since a Thanksgiving is tomorrow, here is a Twinkie Recipe…

Hostess Workers Fire Themselves: Strike Causes Three Bakeries to Close

Earlier this year, we covered that Hostess, the iconic brand that makes such treats as Twinkies, was going bankrupt.  At the top of the list of causes was  high labor costs.  The company had stated that if the union went on strike, the company would be liquidated.  But, when the company made an offer to save the company, the workers decided that they didn’t want their jobs after all.  The Gateway Pundit has more…

Over 600 workers will no longer have a job.
Nice work bakers’ union.

St. Louis Today

Hostess Brands permanently closed three bakeries Monday, including a plant in St. Louis where 365 jobs were cut, in response to a bakers’ union strike that started Friday.

The bankrupt maker of Twinkies and Wonder bread said it’s trying to avert liquidating the entire company, and it shuttered three plants that were no longer able to produce and deliver products because of picket lines. The other plant closures are in Seattle and Cincinnati, where a combined 262 jobs were cut.

“We deeply regret this decision, but we have repeatedly explained that we will close facilities that are no longer able to produce and deliver products because of a work stoppage — and that we will close the entire company if widespread strikes cripple our business,” Hostess CEO Gregory Rayburn said in a statement.

Wholesale baker Hostess Brands, which is based in Irving, Texas, filed for bankruptcy in January and has fought with labor groups over contract changes throughout the year.

Thousands of members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union went on strike beginning on Friday at plants across the country, including Oakland, Calif.; Seattle; and Orlando, Fla. The union represents about 5,680 of Hostess’ 18,300 employees.

On Monday morning, more than two dozen Hostess workers stood on a sidewalk outside the St. Louis bakery on North Broadway, refusing to cross the picket line set by striking bakers’ union members from Columbus, Ind. Some of Hostess’ St. Louis employees said they had worked at the plant that makes Hostess cakes and Nature’s Pride and Wonder breads for decades but were honoring the picket line to protest cuts to their salaries and other benefits.

The St. Louis Bakers Union Local 4 represents 200 employees at the plant at 6301 North Broadway.

So, when choosing between having a job, and not having a job, the union men chose to be unemployed?  That seems to be the logic-or lack thereof.

Teacher Caught on Video Assaulting a Student: Get’s to His Job

What happens when a teacher is caught on video assaulting a student?  He gets to keep his job!  Here is the video…

Here is the information from the video…

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday it is investigating a complaint of an alleged bullying incident, caught on video, involving a student at Kopachuk Middle School in Gig Harbor in February.

The department said it was contacted July 30 by a lawyer representing the parents of the student who was concerned that her clients’ 13-year-old son had been the victim of a bullying incident and that “the incident appeared to be abuse.”

Might it be that the teacher’s union is so powerful, that this man cannot be fired?  I don’t know of many places where you can be charged with teaching and protecting children, and then abuse children, and still not be fired.  But, I guess that is par for the course anymore.

That’s a Nice Granny You Have There, be a Shame if Something Were to Happen to Her: SEIU Accused of Sabotaging Nursing Home Care

Last year, we covered the Verizon strike, when company equipment would mysteriously get broken, and fiber-optic cables would spontaneously cut themselves.  Of course, the union said they didn’t do it, but then again, fiber-optic cables always spontaneously cut themselves, right?

Well, another union, the SEIU, has been accused of sabotaging patient care at nursing homes.  Big Government has more…

Union workers at Connecticut nursing homes represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are alleged to have vandalized and sabotaged assisted living facilities in Connecticut — including those that care for Alzheimer’s patients — during a mass walkout earlier this month.

HealthBridge, which owns the nursing homes, is calling for a criminal probe after union workers allegedly tampered with medication records, removed patient identification bands and even switched the ID bands of various Alzheimer’s patients after union workers voted to stage a walkout because they were unhappy with the progress of labor negotiations between the union and HealthBridge.

I think it’s right to call for a criminal probe.  Medical ID’s are linked to the medications that the patient in question.  If the medications get mixed up, there can be serious consequences, including death.

Before the union decided to strike, David Pickus, the president of the chapter, spoke about how inhumane HealthBridge officials were.

“By their outrageous, inhumane and unlawful actions, HealthBridge has given workers no other alternative,” Pickus said after the vote to strike, according to “This is yet another instance of the wealthy 1 percent waging war on the 99 percent of us who work for a living.”

Sir, if these allegations are true, does it mean that the elderly are to abused to strike back at the mythical 1%?

I guess the mythical 99% do not include elderly people.

O’Keefe Catches Union Bosses Supporting Digging Holes, and Filling them Back in-At Taxpayer Expense

Remember the BS “projects” that the porkulus funded?  Like, Turtle Tunnels, fish sperm storage, and curb cuts where there were no sidewalks?  Well, James O’Keefe, the man who helped bust ACORN, has exposed some union shenanigans.  O’Keefe formed a fake company, who’s specialty is to dig holes, and fill them back in.  He also went to local union bosses for help.  The results are hilarious.  Here is the video…

OK, here is the part of the story that will be completely ignored.

If this get’s covered at all, the union bosses will say, “out of context.”  Of course, with the unedited footage, that can’t be said, but that won’t stop anyone from pretending it doesn’t exist.

Paid Protesters Heckle Romney?

It’s more likely than you think.  According to at least some of the anti-Romney protesters out there, the phrase rent-a-mob is a bit more spot on than the President’s campaign is willing to admit.  Buzzfeed has more…

DeWitt, Mich. — The protesters popping up at Mitt Romney’s rallies throughout Michigan Tuesday look like run-of-the-mill grassroots liberals — they wave signs about “the 99 percent,” they chant about the Republican’s greed, and they describe themselves as a loosely organized coalition of “concerned citizens.”

They’re also getting paid, two of the protesters and an Obama campaign official told BuzzFeed.

At the candidate’s afternoon stop outside a bakery in DeWitt, a group of about 15 protesters stood behind a police barricade, a few of them chanting in support of Obama. Asked why he was protesting, a man dressed in a grim reaper costume pointed a reporter to a pair of “designated representatives” standing in the shade.

“I can’t talk, you gotta get one of those people over there to talk to y’all,” he said. “They’re the ones who can talk to reporters.”

Neither of the representatives agreed to give their names, but two protesters said they were getting paid to stand outside of the rally, though their wage is unclear: one said she was getting $7.25 per hour, while another man said they were being paid $17 per hour.

The story does go on to note that the nearby official Democrat protest claimed that the paid protesters were with an organized labor group, “Good Jobs Now.”

Come to think of it, I wonder is $7.25 represents a “living wage?”

And, after Wisconsin, can the union bosses only afford a paltry 15 protesters.  Times must be tough, I guess.

Demoralized Leftists? Recall Walker Effort Running Out of Gas

Da Tech Guy has been telling us that the left is demoralized.  I happen to agree wholeheartedly.  The blame for that falls one man:  Barak Obama.  He has a fawning media, who have dutifully lied, distorted, omitted, and spun at his bidding.  He has allies in the unions bosses, with their army of goons.  He has “community organizations” at his disposal, who readily intimidate, hire protesters, and file fake voter registrations by the thousands.  Hell, even the dead vote for him, often more than once.  But even with all of that, there are major problems in liberal land…

1.  Obama is having difficulties in primaries:  He had problems in WV, where a convicted felon took 40% of the vote.  Challengers in Kentucky and Arkansas (including “uncommitted) also did well at the polls against him. Of course, his lapdogs in the MSM are crying racism, but there a is  problem there- they are attacking fellow Democrats.  That isn’t likely to play well in donkey-land.

2.  They are having some massive enthusiasm problems, particularly in Wisconsin.  This is a pivotal state for the Democrats, as Scott Walker has signed some legislation limiting the power of the union bosses.  In retaliation, he has been subjected to over a year of harassment and threats.  People have been beaten, businesses intimidated, and the Wisconsin Capitol building has suffered over a million dollars in damage.  However, now, when the big push is needed, the movement has run out of gas.  For example, a recent anti-walker rally garnered a rather paltry crowd…

Now with less than 10 days before the June 5 recall election, Wisconsin Democrat leaders the Obama Campaign tried to do it again.
Too bad only a couple hundred supporters showed up.

It was a pathetic turnout.
Scott Walker Watch has the video.

According to the most recent polling average compiled by the political Web siteRealClearPolitics, Walker is ahead of his Democratic opponent by 6.4 percentage points.

Then, when Bill Clinton showed up for them, they could barely get a 1000 people to attend, even in the Democrat bastion of Milwaukee…

Glossed over in this Associated Press report  about Friday’s Wisconsin recall rally starring former President Bill Clinton is the fact that only “hundreds” showed up. Not only is Gov. Scott Walker’s Democrat opponent, Tom Barrett, the mayor of that great city, but Milwaukee represents one of two liberal strongholds in the state — the other being Madison. By contrast, at yesterday’s pro-Walker rally in Racine, somewhere around  4,000  showed up to see, among others, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, Congressman Paul Ryan, and our own Dana Loesch.

Racine is a fair-sized city of 79,000 about 40 minutes south of Milwaukee. By contrast, the City of Milwaukee has a population of nearly 600,000.

You can, I suppose, make an argument that the Clinton rally was held on a work day and was, as has been reported, hastily arranged. But Bill Clinton was once a sitting U.S. president, a Democrat president, and one who is more popular today than he ever was in office — and he has always been very, very popular in the City of Milwaukee. Oh, and Barrett is the sitting mayor of that city and currently one of two men engaged in one of the most nationally critical non-presidential elections of the last ten years.

So then, after spending $60,000,000 on the anti-Walker effort, they can’t even bus in enough goons to make it look like real people are interested?  This does not bodewell for the Democrats.

Did I mention to expect more voter fraud than even God has seen?

Limbaugh Advertiser to Liberals: Bring it!

I’ve said, quite a few times, that while the leftists have an impressive punch, their play book is paper thin.  They do the typical astroturf email and phone harassment campaigns, send in thugs by the busload, and do the typical harassment of children, employers, and business associates.  However, in reality, they are very small, yet highly organized.  They count on being far more noisy than their actual influence would indicate.  In other words, they make a ton of noise, but it’s just that-noise.  Then, if one buys into the “fact” that the protesters actually represent anything more than the Democratic party, they give in, and the thugs are then encouraged to seek out more prey.

But, if people resist, and stand up to the bullies, the situation takes on an entirely flavor.  We saw in Wisconsin, when the goons threatened businesses that did not put up posters or sign petitions condemning Governor Walker.  Instead of caving, the businesses went public.  Then, the pressure went onto the unions, who were, in fact, committing extortion via a protection scheme.  We also saw it again during last summer’s Verizon strike, when bloggers and other citizen journalists recorded the union’s activities and posted them for all to see.

And, now, we’re still watching the aftereffects of left’s efforts to silence Conservative talk radio, and that genre’s primary figure, Rush Limbaugh.  The plan has been to subject the sponsors of the program to a campaign of astroturf in order to put the show off the air.  However, one of those advertisers, Mark Stevens,  came forward and discussed what he was experiencing…

“They’ve called my people and my company, they’ve called the women at my company, and told them they’re women haters, the most horrible terms,” Stevens said. “They’ve told me — these are tens of thousands of emails, by the way, most of them are positive but the small group — they’ve told us that we’re under surveillance. The email subject line says ‘citizen of the internet,’ ‘police of the Internet,’ ‘Mark, you’re in danger,’ ‘your house is going to be surrounded by buses,’ ‘your business is going to be destroyed,’ ‘your people are in trouble.’ This is terrorism. Why don’t we start calling it what it is?”

Indeed, it is terrorism.  But more practically, the leftists are resorting to mafia tactics…

“That’s a nice (home, business, family) that you have there, would be a shame if something were to happen to it…”

Again, this is more than likely mass emails and calls, coming from the same place, or even a makeshift call center.  It’s an manufactured  astroturf scheme that is nothing more than an attempt to make the protesters look far more impressive and numerous than they really are.

But Stevens wasn’t done…

“Let them come,” Stevens said. “Something is going on here that has to be addressed because the country’s at risk. If I can’t advertise where I want to advertise, my business, because of a small group of people who – you can tell, because the vast majority of the emails are in support of us, Rush, the constitution, the American way – a small portion of people, that I call the hissyfitters, who are like children. When my kids were little, they used to go on a screaming fit, and they lay down on the floor and slapped their hands on the floor. My wife and I had a choice, whether to give them an ice cream cone or make them go to their room. Too much of what‘s going on in America right now is we’re giving these hissyfitters an ice cream cone. We have to stop it, and I’m not afraid, and bring on the buses.”

Stevens nailed it.

In the end, more people need to come forward, and make a stand.  Tell the thugs that their nonsensical tantrums will change nothing.  And, if they show up with buses, record their stupidity, and post it on line for all to see.  It strikes me that the Alinksy Method works very well in a media vacuum.  That no longer exists, thanks to the internet.  With an exponentially greater access to real information, the people can see what the advocates of the Alinsky Method really are-spoiled children who behave foolishly.

Once people realize that the leftists, and their shrill whining, is nothing more than the attack of a clumsy child, the sooner the Alinskyites will lose their power and influence.
