Empire State Building Celebrates the ChiComs???

Every once in a while, something comes up that simple blows my mind.  This is one of those times.  For background, this from the Village Voice:

The Empire State Building’s publicists inform us — like they’re proud of it! — that tomorrow ESB will glow red and yellow to honor the 60th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. At 10 a.m. members of the Consul General of the People’s Republic, including Consul General Peng Keyu, will “flip the light switch on a scale model of the Empire State Building,” and either America will blow up or the lights will go on.

Whaaaaaaat???  We’re going to have the ChiComs do a light display honoring the 60 years of oppression, murder, and starvation caused by their regime?

Let’s take  a look at what we’re celebrating:

R.J. Rummel originally estimated China’s body count between between the years of 1949-1987 to be 35,236,000 (Rummel 1994). This excluded 38,000,000 million that died of famine during the Great Leap Forward. After the release of Mao: The Unknown Story, Rummel became convinced that the Chinese government was directly responsible for the famine, thus increasing his original estimate by 38,000,000 (Rummel 2005). 1,000 was added for Tienanmen Square in 1989 (Courtois 1999).

So, in total, the ChiComs have killed 73,237,000 of their own people.  That’s a reason to celebrate, is it not?

So, this is Amerika.  We celebrate the single most murderous regime in history.  We encourage them to buy our debt, we turn a blind eye to the death, and pretend that everything is all nice and normal.   We need to stop turning a blind eye to this (and we have been for years), and call it like it is.

About the Author

Matt I believe that future generations should have the same opportunities that myself, and those that came before me, had. My parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do. I don’t want to have to tell my daughter, “You can do whatever the government tells you to do.” We are at a crossroads in this country; are we going to be free, or are we going to be slaves to the nanny state. I choose freedom.
