Embattled Athens County, Ohio Democratic Chairwoman Susan Gwinn was indicted Monday on two counts of election-related bribery, special prosecutors announced today.
Gwinn, who last month was charged with six felonies for campaign finance crimes and money-laundering, became the subject of a voter fraud investigation after an email from College Democrats Vice President Kellie Galan surfaced in which students were promised a cash bounty for every voter brought to the polls.
“Remember, if you bring a friend from 4th ward they are more then [sic] a friend, they’re 5 bucks!” Galan wrote to fellow College Democrats in the email. (Emphasis added)
Athens’ 4th Ward featured a hotly contested city council race between College Democrat-endorsed incumbent Christine Fahl and Republican challenger Randy Morris. Fahl defeated Morris by a slim 30 vote margin.
According to Ohio’s bribery statutes concerning voting, “advance, pay, or cause to be paid or procure or offer to procure money or other valuable thing to or for the use of another, with the intent that it be part thereof shall be used to induce such person to vote or refrain from voting” is illegal.
Presently, no members of the College Democrats have been indicted in the vote bounty scheme, likely attributable to the logistical and public relations nightmare in trying dozens of co-eds with voter fraud.
When it rains, it pours, apparently. The left is again in trouble for violating election laws. I think the only shocking thing about the blatant and open nature of the violation. It’s not like they even tried to hide it. This is what happens when the goal of power becomes greater than the need to follow the law…a problem that is an epidemic among the left. Now, this is a small example, but voter fraud is voter fraud, no matter what the election, fraud damages our democracy.
Disclaimer: Before the Democrats or community organizers complain; I know ACORN has only been investigated for Voter Registration Fraud (thus far). The title just seemed more interesting that way!

I believe the left’s actions in matters like these comes from a lack of education in basic right and wrong that one gets from going to church, having that taught by parents that went to church. I am not saying only Christians have morals, I am merely pointing out that when those morals are reinforced at home, in church, cub scouts, boy scouts, girl scouts, etc… then as adults you are less likely to become entrapped in such scandals as the OP refers to.
I feel that if Americans knew the full extent of voter fraud they would be shocked and things would change. Most however, feel that we have a fairly good system for fair elections in this country. I do NOT fall into that group and I believe the corrupt to be widespread and rampant in all states and worse in the large cities, where there are few controls and safeguards against corrupt big city political machines such as those in our presidents home town of Chicago. A system he will try to impose on the nation.
